Hi, New user and wanted to ask about something that has been on my mind. Sorry if posted in a wrong way. is there anyway for me to keep my asus tuf gryphon z97 armor edition up to date with some of the new features that are on the market? Would be nice to not have to buy a whole new system, especially when i don't really need anything better at the moment. I don't game that much anymore and my computer is running just fine for how i'm using it. It would be nice to be able to keep it in as good of a state as i can. Might sound dumb and i know a lot of you might scream "pci-e cards!" , But I still want to ask and see what you fine people would recommend. If you feel there is something i should add or do to keep it as update as possible please tell me.

Everyone who uses a computer uses Windows at least sometimes. But how many Windows features are they using? There’s more to the operating system than you might think, even if you’ve used it a lot!

Hi Tech Enthusiasts, I encountered this issue today and felt compelled to find somewhere to discuss the topic and try to raise awareness so this is my first post on the forum. Recently, I discovered that Microsoft Edge has a reasonably new feature called "Visual Search" which hard-codes in the browser (not website html) a button overlay that displays on images on your website. This button does the bing equivalent of "Google image search" and displays a sidebar with search results including shopping listings for visually similar items. It is now on by default and whilst individual users can opt to turn it off, as a website owner / developer you have no control over this element. This appears to have been a feature since version 96 of edge but perhaps it wasn't so obvious until Microsoft added Sidebar recently in Version 107. An example from lttstore.com: Quotes My thoughts Personally I'm quite frustrated by the intrusion. As I'm responsible for a number of small business e-commerce sites this presents a number of problems and sets a bad precedent for browser companies to inject their own advertising into privately owned websites. (They have also recently done this for the Chrome download website). We invested heavily into creating approved designs and layouts for our various brands/sites and this is being modified by factors outside our control for users on Windows' default browser. Microsoft is essentially forcing competitor advertising into our websites. There is no recourse for me to remove the functionality, no analytics for what referral traffic I'm generating for other businesses and no reimbursement for paid ad clicks generated. Interestingly enough, there appears to be hardcoded exclusions. For example the feature is disabled when image searching on google.com (presumably to avoid litigation) but you can trick the browser into showing the feature by proxying the google image search through the translate tool which goes to show it's just a domain whitelist. This feels anti-competitive and I'm wondering if its even legal? Is this what we can look forward to expecting from Microsoft / Bing / GPT results in the future? Don't get me wrong, the user should always have the choice to do an image search (this has been a feature in chrome's right click context menu on images forever) but it should not be possible to inject/overlay/alter information on an otherwise privately owned website that hasn't opted into including the feature. What if Google decided to use chrome to place adwords banner ads in your website to direct traffic to paid clicks but not giving you a cut of the action, any control over the types of ads shown or the ability to disable the feature? As it stands there is no recourse for me to remove the functionality, I have no analytics for what referral traffic I'm generating for other businesses and I can receive no reimbursement for paid ad clicks generated. I can't be the only one that thinks this should not be acceptable but I would love to welcome your thoughts/ideas/discussion. Thanks! So perhaps I just am bad at googling, but I cannot find answers. After the most recent Windows 11 update, if I hold down the power button on my laptop I get a popup prompting me to "slide to shut down" instead of a power down. If I continue to hold down the power button it will eventually turn off, but it has doubled the amount of time for an emergency shutdown from ~four seconds to ~eight. Frustratingly, from what I could gather from google this is a "feature" added by Microsoft for touch enabled devices. Mine is not, though i was able to interact with it with my mouse, however it does nothing when I do. Also frustratingly I only shut down using this method when something is wrong, so that's assuming the mouse even works. Anyway, any help in turning off this feature is greatly appreciated. Solution(ish): So what I did was I found the location of "slidetoshutdown.exe" It is in C:Windows/System32 and it is simply titled slidetoshutdown.exe. From there I changed the permissions for that application so that I was the owner instead of TrustedInstaller, and then gave myself full control of it. I want to note that one should only do this to the file or folder they want to edit, and not the entire System32 folder for security reasons. Once i had full control of slidetoshutdown.exe I just deleted it. It's gone. And all was at peace once more. This may not be the best or most elegant way to do this but it did work. Perform at your own risk. Not for novice windows users. Caution: editing or deleting files in System32 can cause issues with system stability and functionality, and could result in data or system loss. Be aware of the risks when manipulating files in Windows system folders. There's a reason you have to jump through hoops to change permissions to modify these files.

As the title says. And I'm not talking about Apple, HP, or Alienware. I think something comparable to Rolex or Tesla, a PC with such a high price point that just doesn't exist anymore. Let's say 10.000 Dollar / Euro per model. And rule the max. specs out like the best CPU, GPU, and a high amount of memory and storage. Then we got features like a good looking case with a built-in wireless charger & fingerprint sensor, and maybe energy-efficiency left, but what else could possibly be added?

Hello, I'm currently developing an MP3 player software (called tornado player). I've decided to rebuild the software, working, this time around, on many new, interesting and convenient features. I would appreciate it if you guys could provide some ideas that could be included - things you've always wanted, things that some playback software are lacking, or things that should be included in such software but you've never seen it. My current list of features is as follows: - 'Play' checkbox - choose songs to be played/skipped in a playlist - 'Favourite' check box - Watch folders - folders where adding/removing mp3 files directly affects the playlist in the same manner - Multiple playlists - Playback resumption - whenever you relaunch the application, playback resumes from the exact playlilst, exact song, at the exact time (minus 3 seconds, for convenience) - Shuffle and order - Revert history - a list of songs reverted by the user and the ability to go back to the song at the time when it was changed - Times played - Time until song (in a playlist, the time left until you reach a certain song - Loop - Change speed - Youtube Downloader and format conversion Thanks for the help

What are the best and most useful amd and nvidia features??? What brand you prefer (based on the features and futureproof)? thx

Anyone else getting this feature? It just showed up a few minutes ago for me: New bar at the bottom of watched videos that shows how much of it you viewed. This is way more visible than the "watched" translucent tag at the top, which now only shows up if you watched the full length of a video. I think this is a great feature, makes it a lot more obvious what I have seen or not, or what I had to leave half way watched and wanted to come back to finish later. Also for people with slight OCD, it is like an incentive to watch the full video, which will benefit content creators with watch time %. Thoughts?

I'm currently looking for a new, more powerful UPS to replace my Back UPS Network 40 & I need at least 10 minutes of runtime based off my specs below. Additionally, also having the ability to automatically shut down my PC in case I'm in the shower & can't make it back on time is important. Here's the best choices I've been able to find on Newegg so far, please let me know which would be best for my use & maximum $250.00 budget excluding shipping. Should I even bother with the last 2 options as they're the lowest power? Is the 1st option worth the tradeoff of less power to be "Smart" & that in regard to automatic shutdowns? Drop down any ideas if Microsoft is releasing windows 11 or 12, what features are you expecting? 1. I want a 3D desktop layer with a watery background like in GoLauncher in Android themes LoL 2. Lets just pray IOS tablets would support in Windows 11/12 but that can never happen 3. Windows Aero Theme! Yes Those are good times 4. Windows apps just not embedded from app store but also can be installed by an exe file too In other words Windows 10 is perfect but still....please comment

Greeting to whoever sees this, I am in the beginning process of creating a(n) libresoftware and opensource (FOSS) operating system for critical infrastructural systems, embedded systems, and scientific computing. A good analogy for a use case would be something like this: "My operating system will drive a Mars rover or a satellite and the computers which manage and analyze or host the data received in real time..." Or "the operating system which powers the robots that produce cars or run power plants." A basic rundown is that I want to be a Linux competitor. I figured, in order to make good competition, it would be amazing for the community if my software would reflect wants or specific requests for such operating system by fulfilling the wants of the community as a whole, that Linux may not be able to achieve from the get-go due to its already massive code base making major additions or features quite difficult to implement. It would be of great service you (the LTT community) would be interested in providing feature requests. Thank you all, -David P.S. If anybody has any questions or wants updates I will respond accordingly and publicly if enough people are interested. P.P.S. I am currently setting up a server with the soon to be repos and website so hold tight on that ;).

Hi! I've noticed that my Fast Startup is missing after latest Windows 10 update. What impressed me the most after I built my PC was that it was turning on in less than 6-7 seconds. CPU timer was not resetting when I was using it, now I noticed it doesn't work as it does "fully shutdown" my PC each time as it resets the work time on my CPU plus also it boots up sometimes as long as 20 seconds (which is of a big difference compared to 6 seconds). Is there anyway to re-enable this feature? It does appear as it is on in settings however just doesn't work. I'm running 64bit Windows 10 Home I'd be more than willing to upgrade to Pro/Enterprise/Workbench if it would solve my issue tbh. I'm running my system on single XPG Gammix S50 Series ADATA M.2 that has read of 5000mb/s and write of 4400mb/s so I really am looking for that fast startup to kick in. Also just before I created this post my PC was booting up for more than 30+ seconds (black screen loading up system - ASRock mobo) so I'd like to get it sorted.

Intel’s lack of understanding of what its customers want has damaged its credibility in the industry. It’s not too late, though: Intel can still fix its 400-series budget chipsets. When you click on the, what I call, "heart menu" and then not click on one of the options and move the cursor away, obviously the menu goes away again - as designed. The problem I have, is that with a higher resolution display and my mouse set to move the cursor relatively fast, when I overshoot the menu area the menu closes instantly, so I have to click the heart again. I have the same problem on the trackpad of my older laptop that is a bit glitchy. Also I know there are people that have some kind of motor skill impediment (for example because of disability or a medical condition). To improve accessibility of the like-, funny- and informative- buttons I would propose one of the following solutions: remove the heart button again and make the like-, funny- and informative- buttons directly accessible in the bottom strip of the comments. This would remove one click and solve the problem. However, I can see that this might not be desireable because of the look, the responsive design or the available space on lower resolution displays. keep the heart menu open when it was clicked until one of the menu items was chosen and then let the menu close implement a delay after the heart button was clicked so the menu only closes after a certain amount of time I have a few other thoughts on functional elements of the forum but these are more a matter of personal taste. Changing the heart button would be a small change that would make it easier to use.

Hi, I'm thinking about is it good to be Windows Insider. I mean probably it will affect some drivers and new features could be confusing and strange. So I'm going to install it on my daily used system is it good or less good because maybe after installing new build I will be ,might, needed to reset my OS.

This generalized description could easily be posted in the "New Builds and Planning" forum, and I get that. But the main mental debate that's eating at me is case selection (at the moment) so that's why I'm putting this topic here. Right then, so I've been browsing components, binging review videos and build guides, delving through forums, and slowly losing my mind for nearly two months now. In that time, I've learned that PC building is made as easy or as difficult as the builder wants (for the most part). I could easily look at a recommended build guide and say "Yeah, I'd like to have that," and then build an exact replica and have that be my own personal computer, but it's not PERSONAL, you know? Granted, buying a manufacturer's case isn't technically "personal" either, but there's a line of rationality to be drawn between people who build computers with a passion and people (like me) who do so simply because it's how you get the best price/performance ratio (for the most part) and plus you get a LOT of customization options and upgradability options that you would otherwise either not have or be heavily restricted on with a pre-built system. That said, I would want my components to be within that middle-ground of having a number of functions that I would actually take advantage of while also maintaining that visually appealing aesthetic that really synergizes with everything else and truly creates an artistic masterpiece. "But Fudo, this is PC building, not art class, dummy." And I get that. It's a computer, not a sculpture (although if most of the housings for components are a combination of 3D-printed parts, does that make it artificially "sculpted"? Hmm, questions for later) So, this particular thread regards PC cases and what would be the "best" one for ME. (Though I would also like the results to possibly help other nitpicky people like myself have a general idea of the process of elimination or whatever when it comes to case selection) Price isn't really much of a concern of mine (though I'd really like to shoot for sub $200 if we're being honest), however I know for sure that I'll be in the ATX Mid Tower or Full Tower range. I don't have the absurd funds to fill up an Ultra tower, otherwise I'd probably just shove a bunch of hardware inside a Cosmos II and be done with it. The NZXT Switch 810 is probably about as close as I'm going to get when it comes to case design, visual appearance that I don't hate (but don't like, either), features and functions, etc. Here are the general "wants" for my "dream case" that are dictating my decision-making process: White, Silver, White/Black, White/Silver, Gray, Metallic White, Metallic Silver, etc. (basically I don't want an all-black case. Having it as an accent here or there is fine, but I want it to be primarily white to go along with my build scheme) [Using an Asus Z170 Deluxe for the board, so you get my point, yeah?] Generalized front I/O (headphone jack, microphone jack, 2+ USB 2.0, 2+ USB 3.0, Reset switch) HOWEVER with a pre-integrated SD CARD READER (seriously, with how much file transfer I do with those things with cameras and my phone, I'd really like one of those) At least two 5.25" bays for an optical drive (and probably a fan controller or something if one isn't already installed in the case) Optimized for both liquid and air cooling (I'm not really picky about radiator mounting options since I don't see myself doing a liquid-cooled rig for a long time until otherwised convinced to do so) Fan filters at a variety of conceivable intakes (Like how the Switch has two small ones instead of one large one along the bottom of the case, one for the power supply and the other for possibly a bottom-mounted radiator or something [I think, I'm no expert in theoretical computer physics]) Modular drive cages with different mounting possibilities and combinations (Like how the Phantom 630 has a few drive cage variants that you can move around or just take out completely based on your possible needs) Tool-less panel removal (for sides, top, front, etc.) [Much like how the Switch 810 has little "clickies" that secure the bottom fan filters, the front panel with the integrated filter, and the top panel that has that handle that opens and closes a vent. option] Ease of internal access (I know this is probably the most non-specific "duh" part of this list, but I have big hands) Solid cable management options (with a lot of rubber grommet holes and stuff as well as a mostly "roomy" space behind the motherboard and drive cages and stuff) Solid case construction (in terms of state of matter, all cases are solid [I mean technically a test bench is a case with panels made of "air"], but I want mine to have some rigidity to the overall construction of it. The 780T is a mostly poor example with the way it bends) Now, I know this list is mostly generic, but still. It's about as creative as I can get with it. In terms of upgradability I'll one day want to have two 980 Ti G1 Gaming cards from Gigabyte running in SLI, so there's that. My big gripe about Mid Towers is that they're not "roomy" enough, and since I'm air cooling, I'm a little paranoid about the flow of things, so anyone with advice in that regard is welcome to input their knowledge as well. Here's my component list for what I'll be throwing in initially: Intel Quad Core i7 6700K Phanteks PH-TC14_BK (undecided, but pretty sure) Asus Z170 Deluxe ATX Mobo 32 GB (4x8) Corsair Vengeance Dominator LPX Memory Samsung 950 Pro 512GB M.2 drive (will likely just hook it into the M.2 slot on the board, but the PCIe Hyper Kit adapter included with the Z170 Deluxe is another option) (2x) 4TB WD Black HDD Corsair Hx Power Supply (either 850W or 1000W, but I really want that Plat efficiency and I know I'll be doing 2 980 Ti's in SLI later down the road) I know this was a bit of a novel, but thanks to those who actually read through it and thank you to those who are willing to offer their time to provide their opinions on this matter. Hopefully we can figure things out, yeah?

Source: BBC News, Accessed 30/03/2016 @00:30GMT (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-35910492) Something really nice to see, lightens up the mood from the whole "Apple vs FBI" case palaver to be honest, Oculus have started shipping the new Rift headset to consumers, a big deal considering this isn't a development kit, its actually right out-of-the-box kick-ass and ready to go... Use it with Steam and all that jazz, the whole setup (providing your PC can run it, check out other posts for suggested VR builds) will be compatible with many of the latest game titles, sit in front of the PC and bring the monitor right in front of your eyes. Source: BBC News What's even better is that the first customer-placed order has been hand-delivered by the founder of the company, something you'll rarely see, it would be really nice to have something delivered in person like that, if I was running a multi-million dollar company, I would probably put nice touches on my customer relations in this kind of way, plus it gets my business in the news like this did. If you like this little article, please drop me a thumbs-up and start discussing below.

I don't know if there has been another post about the last maintenance on the 4th of April (I think). I just wanted to say you guys did a great job. The Activity Streams are once again loading quickly. The new GUI above the forum body is cool too. A Big Thank You (original): I am not sure who did the work. Thanks guys.

Hi, I think it would be very nice to be able to track how many "best answers" someone gets. In other words, for a given thread, if your post was selected as the best answer, it would be nice to track those on your profile in addition to the "agree," "informative," etc. I also think this might be more relevant that all the other options that are tracked. Maybe I shouldn't care or it doesn't matter, but it might also help guide a postee to determine who to listen to when trying to pick between several opposing viewpoints based on who has demonstrated the ability to consistently provide good advice. Also, it seems like it wouldn't be too hard to implement. Just a thought...thanks for the great forum!

Hello people of the web, I'm looking for a nice new video editor. I'm currently using VSDC which honestly isn't too bad, but I'd rather use Movie Maker unless I need to greenscreen. I tried Wax, but it glitched out and the sound wouldn't process. I'm not a big time video maker, so I'd rather go with a free one (pirates leave now). If there's something like Movie Maker, but with chroma key and more features (those text animations were AIDS and there were no good effects), then I would go with that. Thanks.
