Just got back some old tech for my brother-in-law I let him use for a few years. Decided I'm going to make a server out of it for my friend and I to play Minecraft, ark, Gmod, and some other only stuff on. i7-3770k on water ASRock Z77 fatal1tly professional (bios rev1.7) Corsair vengeance ddr3 1333mhz 16gb Radeon 580 8gb 1Tb Sandisk ssd 750 watt Corsair PSU Used Case Got a clean boot and fresh install of window 10 (version 21h2) but when I got to the windows set up screen I didn't have internet, cable is good, and the activity lights lit up. Bypassed it and did a no internet install no issue. But it looks like windows cant find drivers for the Broadcom BCM57781 lan hardware. I checked ASRock's website and they don't have win 10 drivers posted, 7 & 8.1 but no 10. Put in a ticket to talk to someone at ASRock but all I've been getting for the last 2 days is repetitive 1 one sentence responses that don't answer the questions I'm asking. Does anyone know if broadcom still supports this hardware? Or has win 10 driver for these chips it seem dumb to me that a top of the line motherboard was unable to function on a new Win os 3 years after it launched. I thought maybe the chip was fried, but it shows up in device manager as an unknown needing drivers. And yes I know I could just go with an add in card. That's what Pablo the ASRock rep has said three times but I want the board like it should. Thank you too anyone taking the time to read this, and sorry for any spelling mistakes.

Hey so I'm planning an upgrade to my PC from an i3 6100, gigabyte h110-m motherboard with 8gb of crucial ram to a Xeon e3 1230 v5 on an ASRock fatal1ty mobo with 16gb of corsair vengeance 2133mhz. I have heard that the falta1ty mobo supports base clock overclocking. i have a cooler master hyper t4 at the moment and was wondering if overclocking is worth me buying a liquid cooler or not. and i i did how much of a performance boost would i get. thanks for helping

After working perfectly fine yesterday, I turned on my pc today and it seemed to post normally except I had no display. After turning off and checking my HDMI cable I started it again, all fans and lights turned on for a split second and then turned off. I'm using: [i7 8700k (overclocked to 5.0ghz), asrock fatal1ty z370 itx mobo, evga gtx 960, 1000w bronze cooler master psu, 2x8gb corsair vengeance lpx ddr4, samsung 850 evo, toshiba 7200rpm hdd, windows 10 education]. Since then, every time I startup my pc, it turns on for only a split second before turning off. Will I need to rma my motherboard/CPU? Or is there a solution that I'm not seeing? The only old part in my build is the PSU which I got used and I think is over 4 years old, everything else is relatively new, my main concern is whether the old psu has damaged the mobo. What I've tried: (No change whatsoever after each) - Removing all expansion cards and peripherals - Clearing CMOS - No damaged capacitors - Double checked 24 pin and 8 pin connectors - No obvious shorts - Took motherboard out of case - Tried different RAM, PSU, CPU fan - No bent socket pins or burnt cpu contacts - Reseated CPU and RAM Hopefully there's something I'm missing, is there anything else to check? Also is there any way an old PSU could damage components even when the computer is turned off and surge protected? Any help is appreciated.

Hey there, just finished building a nice little itx pc and wanted to add some color to it. Its in a thermal take v1 and I am using a asrock fatal1ty b350 itx/ac motherboard and got the phanteks rgb led combo kit since it had an adapter and magnetic strips included. The issue is that even with the adapter, the rgb software from asrock doesn’t seem to work do anything. The strip is just a white light. Is there a compatibity issue? If there is, does anyone have a recommendation for another product. I like the magnets since its easy clean up and with or without a remote. The phanteks site doesnt show compatibility for mobos on the kit’s page but on the phanteks’ adapter page it displays a few mobos compatible. Are the adapters in the kit and standalone the same? Thank you.

I am looking to build a portable Gaming/Workstation PC in the Fractal Node 202. Since cooling is quite limited in that case I am worried about motherboard VRM temps on the Asrock Fatal1ty X370 itx/ac since I plan to overclock. I am using the 8 core 1800x which makes the whole deal More complicated. Its partially taken care of my 180W down draft cooler but the VRM heatsink is still inferior to everything i have seen so far. TL;DR: What are my options for Substitution of VRM Cooling on the Asrock X370 ITX Mobo?

Hello! What ram slots do I use to install 2x8 ddr4 ram kit? Should it be a1 and b1 slots or a2 and b2? The motherboard is ASrock fatal1ty gaming x x370 atx. Thank you!

Hello! Can anybody suggest any coolers for motherboard ASRock Fatal1ty x370? It should not be too big cooler - it should fit with some extra place without a problem. Thank you!

Hello everyone and thank you for your help previously. I lurk sometimes and I love the community here. Thanks to everyone in advance right from the start <3 I'm in the process of building a new rig I will probably have it completed by December (Take into consideration if something will be coming out - I'm currently buying one piece of hardware per month or two). It will be primarily for gaming, I would like to be able to stream next year from it too, and I work in AutoCAD and do video rendering. My current rig (without going into too much detail) has ASRock Extreme4, Ati ASUS HD7870, Thermaltake Jing (CLP0574) of parts which I'm absolutely in love with, and would like to continue using the brands in my new rig. Processor is i5-3550, but I'll get into that in a bit. I have several dillemas, I'll break them into points to make answering easier; 1) AMD vs Intel Currently in my third world country (Croatia) the price of i7-5960X is 1500$, whereas the price of FX8300 is 150$ Everyone is telling me i should stick with my i5 in the new rig. But I think I'd much rather upgrade to eight cores, and order water cooling from online outside of the country (Possibly EK blocks from the UK since EU). For the price of the Intel equivalent, I can basically break the CPU every couple of months and still get off cheaper. Do they overheat? Is Wraith enough to keep it cool or should I definitely go for water cooling (I specially-ordered Jing in my previous rig since I was afraid of overheating my CPU)? I'd go for the top of the line and buy FX9590 since it's well inside my price range for CPU - unless you would recommend something else. 2) Ati vs Nvidia First off, I'm an ATI fanboy. My HD7870 was primarily purchased for Crossfire, but I never ended up needing another card. It died on me recently because I failed to notice one of the fans stopped working. Spat some artifacts in my face and GSOD. I'm having it baked today, hoping for a resurrection. I'm in LOVE with it. If it dies I'll build it a shrine in the forest and bury it with bagpipes and bear fights at the funeral. Tell me am I wrong. Educate me. I'm looking into R9 Fury X. None of the stores in my country currently have ASUS edition, which I'd really like. Price is 840$ Should I opt for Crossfire? ASUS Strix R9380 can be found for 310$ - As mentioned I'll probably wait for RX 480, price seems unreasonably reasonable 3) Mobo I'd like the ASRock FX990 Fatal1ty. Afaik it can only support 1600 DDR3 unless overclocked, which I'm not too familiar with (OCing a motherboard - probably just BIOS settings but I'd rather not OC it anyway) Very affordable price range for me. Is higher frequency RAM important? I'd probably go with 16GB 2x8 on 1600 from CORSAIR or G.Skill / HyperX and be a happy sailor as far as I know. On the Intel side: Fatal1ty or Extreme6+ ? Or something completely else Currently: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/wLTJxY With the exception of waiting for RX 480 ______________________________________ Sorry for the long post. Thank you for your time. If required I can add cat/potato/currentrig.jpg tax

Hey guys, I think I may have gotten myself in a rather severe predicament. I recently set up a raid 0 array with my two ssd's, got the whole system up and running and then in all my wisdom thought it would be a good idea to enable the ultra fast boot in the bios. Now it fails to boot at all, resulting in a completely black screen, no post. Nothing. I suspect this may be because the ultra fast boot does not allow the sata controller to enable the raid array that my os is stored on. Is there any way to get back into the bios without clearing the cmos and ultimately deleting my raid array? Or a way to preserve the array when I do clear the cmos? Motherboard is an asrock Fatal1ty board if that helps.

I currently have a Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3 mATX motherboard and I'm looking into upgrading both my motherboard and CPU to both intel? Hey guys, so yesterday I installed my new Fans in my PC (2x Silentwings 2 140mm), connected them to my Motherboard (ASRock Fatal1ty H97 Performance) and then I set them both to always 100% in the Fatal1ty or ASRock F-Stream Tuning Utility. One of the Fans is on CPU Fan 2 Connector on the Motherboard, and CPU fan is on the CPU Fan 1 connector. In the tuning Utility I klicked onto "Start Fan Test" at "CPU Fan 1 & 2".. Now the maximum speed of the CPU Fan which is the Stock cooler of my Xeon E3 1231v3 is 900rpm or what could possibly be the exact speed of the Silentwings 2. Deleting the software or restarting didn't help, it reached ~80*C then I turned it off. Now - Should I just plug the Silentwings 2 out and plug it into the last free fan "port" which is "PWR FAN" and then test the CPU Fan again when only the CPU Fan is connected? I know it's a bit of a complicated story and I am not a native english speaker, but I tried my best Thanks.

It's rare that I post on a forum like this seeking help but I am just at a loss, so I turn to you, fellow Linus Tech Tips members. Recently, about 5 months ago, I finally got together my gaming desktop. [Which I will post the parts of for reference after the explanation.] After having it together for about a week or so, I began to notice random freezing while I was browsing the internet using Google Chrome. This immediately sent up red flags as I had only just built the machine and everything at that point was just running off of an SSD with no bottlenecks that I could see happening anywhere. At first I assumed it might be because of the NIC software that came with the mobo, so I got rid of that. Then I assumed it was because of the NIC drivers, so I re-installed them fresh, right from Broadcom, and not from my mobo manufacturer this time. Finally given it was happening only, as far as I could see, in Google Chrome I got rid of every shred of chrome from my PC by uninstalling and then deleting all files and folders associated with it. Then I tried re-installing it, and began getting the same freezing. After that I tired using Firefox and while it seemed to happen less often with Chrome and to a lesser extent, with a the freezing lasting for a shorter time, it was still happening. Since the installation was still pretty fresh and I didn't have much on it, I re-installed Windows. After getting things set up just enough to the point that I needed them to be. I began to browse again and...the same issue began popping up. In both Firefox and Chrome. It's causing me confusion because none of my other internet based applications such as playing games or being on instant message and voice chat programs seem to cause the freeze up to happen when just they are running and the internet browsers aren't open. Another issue I'm having is shortly after the re-install and dealing with this first problem, I started up my PC one day to find a BIOS message telling me that my default settings were loaded. All of my overclock settings in BIOS we're just reset to default. Though, strangely enough, all of my saved profiles were still there. So I just had to load my favorite up, not a huge deal. The problem is that this keeps happening, and it's growing more frequent every day. The time isn't being reset so I'm not drawn to think it's the CMOS battery. The CMOS jumper is in the correct position and since it only happens some of the time I don't think it's that. I'm not sure what could be causing this and I'm not sure if it's related. But my first thought was possible mobo issues given the BIOS issues popping up after the freezing. I've been putting up with the freezing whilst trying to find solutions in various places but now with the BIOS issue I'm just at the end of my patience. So TL:DR; Freezing issues when browsing. Have tried: Uninstalling browsers, drivers, and NIC software. Re-installing Windows. Different Network connections. Different cables. Updating BIOS. My current system configuration is: AMD FX-8350 ASRock Fatal1ty 990FX Professional Motherboard Corsair Vengeance Pro 1866 Mhz. [2x 8GB Dual Channel Kit] MSI Reference R9 290 Corsair AX760 Power Supply Samsung 840 Evo SSD And finally a WD Black HDD And I have Win 7 x64 Ultimate running on it. Before it comes up. I got the mobo second hand off of a friend who recently upgraded his build. So RMAing it is not an option. And to make it even shittier, I can't find a new one through any of my normal PC part channels which sort of sucks. Any help that anyone can provide would be very much appreciated. I'm sorry if I maybe put this in the wrong area of the forums and if I did could someone help me out with where to put it?

There are a lot of cheap over-ear Beats headphones (30-60$) here, I doubt they're originals, and I'm interested if the change from Creative HS-800 Fatal1ty to them would be an upgrade or a downgrade for my sound (with a Xonar DG). I've heard the Beats copies sound allmost like real Beats by Dre, and the real ones are expensive...

I'v noticed that sound blasters fatal1ty series of cards (all the x-fi and now the recon3d) there is an option to dial in a cross over frequency. but is it an actual crossover or is it a marketing thing? i want need to know cuz if it is then i don't need to order crossover parts for a project i'm working on.

So far I have a few choices for my build: I already have an i7 3930K, it was free. Please stop recommending me non-LGA2011 boards. ASUS Rampge IV Gene mATX @ $299.99 ASUS Rampage IV Extreme eATX @ $429.99 ASRock Fatal1ty X79 Professional ATX @ $264.99 ASRock X79 Champion ATX @ $359.99 As you can see, all of these have a red/black scheme (which will be my builds color scheme). Right now it's kind of a toss up between the IV Gene and the Fatal1ty Pro as I don't have a ton of money. The only issue is that the IV Gene might look weird in my 600T case (mid tower case and the Gene being mATX). Reviews are mixed on all of these boards so thought I would post it here and see what kind of feedback I get as far as board stability, known issues, premature failures, personal experience etc. And please don't say something like "all crap, this sucks, waste of money" etc. If I wanted nonconstructive type posts I would not be asking here. Thanks. If anyone is interested in my build specs check the link below: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2jxHf
