Hey, this is my first post I am working on a system with the following design: I have 3 Remote Desktop Servers with the session host role installed on them and a third one with the broker and licensing role installed on it. The Remote Desktop Session Hosts are configured as one collection. I also have 20 Thin Clients with IGEL OS installed (a Thin Client Linux OS) I am looking for a way to make sure that when I connect to the collection, I will always be directed to a server that is online. Right now, I am using a DNS round-robin on the Domain Controller to resolve the session name to one of the RDS Servers. But when a server is down, round-robin still returns it's IP-Address and I get a timeout. I use a regular RDS-Connection (FreeRDP) not a conenction via WebRD or similar. Is there a way to make sure, that when i connect to the collection, i will be directed to an active RDS which will communicate with the broker to load balance? Thank you

So, I'm planning to build a small render farm. Originally I was thinking of using a Intel Xeon E5-1650 v4 and the Asus X99-M WS Micro ATX Motherboard. But now we have The Ryzen CPUs, (Ryzen 1800x -MSI B350M MORTAR Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard) Which of these, you guys think are better? Xeon with ECC memory, wi-fi (and better mobo overall), OR Ryzen with more cores, and better price?

how to build a render server or render farm?

Hello, I am in the US and am looking to spend up to $2200 (USD) total on a GPU farm. Applications include coin mining (planning to start with Ethereum), Blender rendering (better than my GTX750ti), and password cracking (I'm a cybersecurity student). IMPORTANT::: All of these applications rely on computing power, and not bandwidth (so using PCI 1x with a Celeron for 16 GPUs is okay). I can't use a mining os because I need to be able to run hashchat and blender, so I'm probably going to end up on some lightweight Ubuntu because I'm good with Debian. I'd like any and all advice/tips/suggestions/warnings/death-threats/love-letters you are willing to give. For a start, I'm currently looking at this: Thanks in advance!

Sup So I own a farm [cow farm]. They live outside and it's hard to tell if the fence is giving electricity or not. So I always need to go and check if there's a problem, or if the electricity is there. So I was wondering if there is a gadget of some sort that gives me an alert when the cows have broken the fence etc. Cause if the cows do get outside the fence it could be thousands of dollars in losses. Does anyone know a gadget that provides me an alert when the electric fence is not pulsing? It would be really handy Thanks!

How do you build a mini render farm for home? Something like this but way smaller There's no tutorial showing you how to build a render farm period, well at least step by step and explaining why. They usually say to use an old pc from the videos i watched. -how to commit the file? 1:30 -how to write and code a user inter face somewhat similar to that? or is there a program that can do something similar to that? 2:20 also written in windows if possible because it looks like they're using ubuntu or linux in the video what i want to do is be on my main computer making some 3d animations and after i'm finished with the animation i will have it sent off to a separate computer or server "computer 2" to have it processed and rendered. then that animation that i sent off, to have render to a separate computer "computer 2", is no longer a nuisance to my main pc and can continue working on a different project. then when the rendering is done in "computer 2" after a few hours, i can use the user interface to extract that rendered animation of my chose, that i had sent off to render "computer 2", to my main computer.

Is there a way to render parts of the same premiere pro project per multiple computers automatically?

Dear All, So i want to build a new PC, mainly to render in 3D and i have some questions: 1-can i run 2 gpus in SLI, while third one alone?? 2-does SLI matter for 3d rendering?? 3-am i better off using 3 gpus with No SLI?? 4-Can the program use 2 gpus to render even if not in SLI??? 5-render will be faster with 2 SLI gpus vs 2 non SLI gpus ( assuming the software is able to use 2 gpus not on SLI?? As you can see i am a little bit confused when it comes to 3d rendering and SLI or no SLI, i tried googling but unable to get the appropriate answers, much appreciate helping me out, thank youuuu

A farm located at the geographic center of the United States has filed a lawsuit against MaxMind, at the District of Kansas over a massive IP glitch. The problem started back in 2011 when the owner of the farm, Ms. Taylor started receiving phone calls from a angry business owner, who called, to blame her for his company's e-mail problems. Soon after that, Ms. Taylor and her renters the Arnold's, got more phone calls and weird accusations, claiming they're secretly hiding run away children, to be used in x-rated films. This led to constant door visits from local authorities, US Marshals, FBI, as well as others too like the IRS and angry internet users. After 5 years of non-stop continuous hell for Ms.Taylor and the Arnold's, a Fusion's reporter, Kasmir Hill, has discovered the cause for all this problem. It was found out, IP address mapping company MaxMind founded in 2002, needed a default location for all IP addressws. They decided to use the geographic center of the United States as its center point. The coordinates for it is, 39.50N and 98.35W, when it was rounded off to 38N and 97W. it land right in the front yard of that farm. Because of the rounded off coordinates, 600 million plus IP address were all sent to that farm. MaxMind has updated its new default location to the center of a lake, West of Wichita. The lawsuit was filed last week by the Arnold's against MaxMind. They're seeking damages exceeding $75,000 dollars, plus other costs. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2016/08/10/lawsuit-how-a-quiet-kansas-home-wound-up-with-600-million-ip-addresses-and-a-world-of-trouble/

I'm looking for someone who has the drive to build a large farm capable of stocking masses of food, no real reason beside my food stocks look small beside my stone and resource stocks. Farming would include crops animals and wood. if anyone's interested reply here.

Hi guys, Okay, before I start, let me mention that I am completely confused at the moment, hence I need your help! I have finally decided to switch from Mac environment (Final Cut Pro X) to Windows based system (Adobe Premiere Pro CC) for the next upgrade to my film production company's editing hardware. I am planning to build two machines (maybe more if I get a better understanding after posting this article): Machine 1: Editors Machine. Primary use for this machine is for my editor to do all the editing on Premiere Pro CC. Machine 2: Render Farm. Primary use for this machine is to assist during the final render process of the film over a quad channel gigabit network for the output of the master copy. Okay, now the confusing part: According to this: https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2013/07/19/adobe-premiere-pro-cc-hands-on-multi-gpu-support-and-more/ and this article: http://creativeclouduser.com/multiple-gpu-support-in-adobe-premiere-pro/ Adobe Premiere supports multiple GPUs for the render process. And LTT made a video a while back where they showed off their render farm build where they used dual Xeons and dual Titan X GPUs for it. Video: So according to all of above, having multiple GPUs should help in Premier Pro during the editing and final render process. But, I was watching Dimitri's video (from HardwareCanucks), and he recently re-built his editing machine where he removed one of the two 980Tis from his system, and mentioned multiple GPUs don't make a difference in Premiere Pro editing process and premiere pro does not support multiple GPUs. And queue the confusion. Video: Now at this stage, my final conclusion on the editing rig is to have only one 980Ti (If more than one are better, please mention in the comment and why.) But when it comes to the render farm, I have a few questions: Q.1: Which is more important when it comes to final render? GPU or CPU? Q.2: Do I need a single GPU or having multiple GPUs will help with the render time? (If I select CUDA) Q.3: Will having multiple GPUs benefit the Render machine at all? Or is it better to get an 18 core Xeon (or two) instead? My original plan was to have a Skylake i7 with dual 980 Tis (in SLI) in the render farm machine, but after watching HardwareCanucks' video I am very much confused. Can anyone suggest what should I go for the render farm? And which is more important for render... (Dual GPUs in SLI with Slylake i7) OR (a high end CPU)? Apologies in advance if I sound like a noob, not a very technical person! and very much confused at the moment! Thanks in advanced! /d

So I want to make my own Diy Render Farm using multiple cheep computers running in Paralel. My problem is the following 1. What programs do I use for achieveing this? 2. What operating system do I put on the Multiple computers Running In Paralel. 3. How do I run the computers in paralel, how do I set it up. 4. How do I make it as symple as sending my render project over the network to my render farm. For exampel I have my main desktop and I want to send a project to the render farm where it rendrs it then sends the final render back to my pc. 5. What hardwhare peramiters are there, is there a certin type of cpu or whatever or all just all the same computers. For example The computers runing in paralel, Do they all need to have the same haredware and stuff or can they be mixed and mashed? 6. Is there anything else I can do with this render farm? 7. What else am I not thinking about, or what am i missing. Thansk for reading this and I realy hope I get some help doing this.

Well, i know ive said before that i dont wanna upgrade my CPU and neither GPU but! I'm gonna make a PC thats gonna be in the other room and only render C4D, ae n such. So! i had the idea to go with an old i7 2011 typed CPU. Any good out there with that type of socket and could i use 2011-V3 with DDR4 for it? I dont wanna pay more then max 300USD for it :-) And for the mobo i have an idea of a fine mobo for almost no money and im gonna slap in a SLI 670 setup or another "good" SLI setup that i can get for under 200.

Hallo Linustech I want to build PC for Rendering, based on GPUs. I will use it main for V-Ray RT in 3Ds Max Renderings (for long time rendering, 1 days constant or like that ) I think i7 extreme series like 5930K...as it has many PCI Lines and not overpriced to much...memory about 32gb 4 sticks for quad channel...main question is MotherBoard and GPUs, which one is best for job + not overpriced, like I do not know if it worst +200$ for GTX980 over 970....or maybe TiTan?? main question is which GPUs are best for SLI configuration, with best result for price and also cooling and stability because 1 day rendering is damn long and hot... 2 higher tier card is bettor or 3 lower??? and questions like that is my mindbend, as I do not have experience build this complicated PCs mobo I think Asus X99 WS or EVGA X99 FTW??? budget is not defined yet, but overpricing is not accepted... thanks and hope I will found solution here anyone can edit/add parts to this Sheet if wanted

Hi, I'm planning on making a small render farm, 4 to 10 nodes but I don't have a big budget, The server i'm looking at is Dell PowerEdge 2950. Do you think that it will be good for a render farm? I plan to start with 4 and if they're good I plan to increase it to 10 or even more. I plan to do use them for Blender Cycles rendering, video rendering, 3ds Max and Maya Mantel Ray rendering. Thanks

Hi Guys, I wasn't too sure whether to put this in the networking or storage section so an admin can move this if it should be in the other. So here's my situation. I have an old laptop and an old desktop. I'd like to turn one of them into a render farm using Vegas Pro 12. That's the easy part. What I want to do is be able to have a hard drive accessible from both computers, probably over the network. So I was thinking a NAS, but I really want it to be in my room. My desktop is connected to a router in my room that uses one of those 'put your internet through your plug socket' things and broadcasts its own wifi network. I don't know the first thing about networking, so do you think I can set this up? Also, can I make my own NAS? I have the parts to make another PC is there's some software I can use and I'd rather not buy one. Thanks bchampion96

Hey guys, I'm an organic farmer who also happens to know a bit about computers. I just wanted to share a website with this community. It's called Farm Hack ( http://www.youngfarmers.org/practical/farm-hack/ ) and it's a website where innovative farmers, students, techies, etc can share their inventions that make farming/gardening easier or faster. I like hearing logan and wendel talk about evil monsanto, but sometimes it's nice to hear about something more positive. Would anyone from this community want to help out with farm hack? One of my favorite farm hack posts is an arduino greenhouse monitoring system http://farmhack.net/tools/fido-greenhouse-monitoring-text-message-alerts .
