I'm trying to cool my RTX 3070 as best as possible. During renders, I've seen the temperatures reach 70dC or higher. I've made some changes so hopefully this will settle the temperatures down. Hey there, First time builder here, I would appreciate if my fan configuration choices could be challenged. The recent LTT video about "1 year fan configuration against dust build up results" made me wonder if I've made good decisions for optimal temperatures. Build details: CPU: Intel Core i7-12700KF 3.6 GHz 12-Core Processor CPU Cooler: ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 420 72.8 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler Motherboard: Asus TUF GAMING Z690-PLUS D4 ATX LGA1700 Motherboard Memory: Crucial Ballistix 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory Storage: Corsair MP600 Force Series Gen4 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 12 GB Founders Edition Video Card Case: Fractal Design Torrent ATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply: Corsair RMx (2018) 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Monitor: Gigabyte M32Q 31.5" 2560x1440 170 Hz Monitor My current configuration is "all fans in but the one at the back out" 2 - 140mm case fans at the bottom pulling air in 2 - 180mm case fans at the front pulling air in 1 - 140mm case fan at the back pushing air out 3 - 140mm AIO fans pulling air in (through the radiator) Picture with first timer cable management horror scene (but wait to find out how this AIO is held in place) Here is how my AIO is held (spoiler bc nsfw content, fasten your AIO seatbelt kids) Stating the obvious So, yeah this 420mm by 140mm Radiator is in front of 2 - 180 fans. My picture does not probably does no help but with some maths: those are larger than the radiator in width (40mm) and shorter in height (60mm) and there is a (10mm) gap between the radiator and front panel fans. How does this set-up hold up ? CPU Load test: Cinebench R23 (10 minutes) Package temperature: 69° (under load) score 22661 Package temperature: 24° (idle) GPU Load test: Unigine Heaven Benchmark 4.0 Render: Direct3D11 Mode: 2560x1431 8xAA windowed Preset Custom Quality High Tessellation: Extreme GPU Temp 76° (under load) FPS: 156.4 Score: 3941 Min FPS: 41.0 Max FPS: 352.1 GPU temp 46° (idle fans are even off like in the picture) General questions Does those seems normal results to you ? (No OC planned but the cooler the longer this build will last) Is my current fan configuration okay-ish while sticking to provided case fans ? Should I try one of these following options ? (or another one) Option 1 - "sandwiched AIO" (image source Fractal Design Torrent manual page 8) Reserve: Mind that this picture is showing a 360mm radiator with 3 - 140mm fans. I've currently managed to put the radiator in/out at the bottom, it will very likely not be possible with this config. If I understand correctly, if the pump is not above the radiator it's okay, but in this configuration some air could still be trapped in the top part of the radiator making some noise. I don't know which magic they used to stick both the radiator to the front panel. I guess I would need special screws, like the ones used for my AIO fans, going through the fan holes to reach the radiator. Sandwiching fans are a mix between AIO and case fans, AIO has its dedicated fan curve maybe I will have to match both fan curve since the radiator will be in and "air tight" sandwich Option 2 - forget about the 3 extra 140mm fans either put the 38mm depth radiator inside the 140mm fans panel (in front of the radiator at the right of the last picture), or put the radiator fans inside the fan panel in push mode and leave the radiator as show in last picture Reserve: I am not using all the provided fans Sorry for the well of text, all feedback is welcomed thanks in advance ! Edit: writing this and compiling all the information, made me already realize a potential mistake: I've plugged my AIO into the AIO Pump fan header of my motherboard running at max speed by default. It seems appropriate to plug the AIO fan into the AIO fan header of your MoBo but there is a single AIO cable to manage both the pump and the radiator fans, I think Arctic (AIO builder) recommends using the CPU fan header. It's weird because I don't find my PC to be loud.

Hi I was watching some videos on installing the Noctua NH-D15 and was wondering which way the fans should point. The guide I was watching pointed the fans directly to the exhaust fan. I was told that it's better for the fan to point away from the blower so the airflow would bounce back towards the exhaust fan. Which is the correct way?

OK so I am hoping someone can help me out and perhaps link a vod or two but let's get into it. So I am working with a Nanoxia Silence 1 case and have an Asus z390-F gaming MB with a 9900k. To cool it off I have a corsair h100i RGB platinum . The issue I have run into was that I want to have the radiator at the top of the case and ideally would have the fans mounted to the underside pushing air our of the top of the case through the radiator however due to space limitations I have to have the radiator on the underside of the top of the case and the fans above. I am not sure if I should have the fans pushing fresh air from above the case through the radiator into the case or pulling air from the case through the radiator and expelling out the top. I have 2x 120mm front intake fans,1 140mm rear exhaust fan and 1x 140mm side intake fan (plus the two top fans with the radiator) CPU is overclocked to 5GHz Are there any practical benefits to either fan direction and in reality will it make much of a difference?

The case I'm using is a Tecware Fusion / SAMA IM01 and I'm planning on using 5 case fans in it (not including the 2 radiator fans). I plan on having both the 2 top and 2 bottom fans as intake while the 1 front fan and the 2 radiator fans in the middle as exhaust. Is this configuration good for airflow? I know that top fans as intake and front fans as exhaust are generally avoided, but due to the size of my GPU (Zotac RTX 3080), my radiator won't fit under it, nor will it fit above the Motherboard (Semi-SFF case). Only place I can really fit my 240mm radiator is in the center (placed vertically), and I really would avoid using it as intake even if I have to use the top and front fans as intake. https://imgur.com/a/rUVEYA9 Here's a visualization of it (red for exhaust, blue for intake) (I'll be placing the front fan higher up as opposed to it being lower)

I am building a gaming PC in a few days and i am not quite sure what fan orientation to use. I will be mounting a 240mm aio to the top of the case but am not sure what direction the other fans should face. Here is the case I will be building in. Thanks in advance!

I have this case (Antec NX200) which has a bad reputation for airflow it supports up to 5 120mm fans. There's no opening in the front to take fresh air in. Only way the air can get in is the bottom. So I'm thinking to install the top 2 fans as intake as there is mesh at the top (also has dust filters on top) so cool air can get in easily and 1 exhaust in the rear and 2 exhaust at the front. Because I think it would be hard pulling air from the bottom of the case. Would that benefit me??

Hi, long time watcher, first time poster. I have a case that is destined to sit on the floor. Case has two front intake fans and one exhaust fan. CPU Is air cooled with a noctua air cooler and have fitted extra fan to the side in a push/pull configuration. The case also has a PSU basement. I have a spare noctua 120mm fan that im thinking of putting in the psu basement, to blow the dust away from the case which is going to sit on the floor. Should i bother? Will it hurt? I know that the right thing to do is for the fan to be pulling and for the case be onthe desk, but i have no desk space. does the basement create enough of a barrier so that this basement fan won't actually impact airflow too much if it is blowing out. The case is filtered all the way around. What do you think?

I would like to mount my Predator 360 in the front of my Define S. I want to keep the top moduvents on to be as quiet as possible. I believe the predator 360 comes with the fans in a pull configuration. I would need to flip the fans around to mount it on the front as in the picture. Does anyone see a problem with this? Will changing the predator to push affect performance? If so will it be greatly affected. I have already read the arguments for/against mounting the rad in the front venting hot air into the case and they seem to be about 50%for/against, does anyone else want to weigh in on this? I plan to eventually water cool the GPUs' so I don't think the extra heat in the case will be a problem. The 3 fans on the front rad will intake and I plan to use the 2 included case fans as exhaust, how does this 3 in 2 out sound to you guys? What would you change? THANKS! I have a storm scout 2, upgrading stock cooler to an h100i and the r9 290 jet engine to a g10+h55. I can only place the h100i on top and the h55 rear. I don't think it has enough clearance for a side intace with the g10, plus it's out of my fan upgrade budget. I remember someone saying that the hot air rising could be negligible, so I started to wonder, in order to avoid Negative pressure I could set the top and rear (h100 and h55) as intakes and the front as exhaust. It does not negatively affect cpu and gpu cooling and the only thing I can think of that needs better airflow anymore is the hdd. So, negative pressure or not as optimized airflow?
