I bought this GALAX 1660 Ti GPU 8 months ago, And i went ahead and tested it 5 months ago and it wouldnt produce a screen at first and sometimes would, and it would crash while stress testing and produce a grinding fan noise. But i seemed to have fixed those issues except the grinding fan noise. It would still produce it somewhere around 2030 RPM or 60% Fan Speed. But it's not as noisy as before but just today the noise seemed to have come back and im worried if the gpu will get the same symptoms months ago or it will break. No wire seems to be blocking the gpu or anything its just that when the fan goes above 2030 RPM/60% Fan Speed it would make this annoying grinding noise but it's not that loud compared to before. But now it's *kinda* fixed all i did was reseat the gpu and the 8 pin, cleaned the ram, replaced the cmos. And it's stable in games and on FurMark and wont crash anymore. But still makes this annoying grinding noise on it's fan and i dont know how to fix it. Editors Note: I set the fan speed to 62% in MSI Afterburner when playing gpu intense games for the fan to chill and not make that ear-piercing noise. Here's the video of my GPU Back then still having no display issues, crashes and with the grinding fan noise. The noise starts at 0:30 (The noise issue im having right now too but not that audible anymore) What can i do? The warranty is expired. Or do a alternative solution.

I've had my new PC for about 3-4 weeks in total now, but occasionally I've heard some sort of strange sounds from it. The first time was when I was playing The Witcher 3 and it sounded like a fan was making the noise, and I stopped one of the front fans and it seemed to seize. But it came back a few days ago and sounds something like this: Weird case fan sound 1.m4a Weird case fan sound 2.m4a It goes away on it's own after a while though. I'm using a Fractal Design North case with the stock Aspect 140mm fans, and they seem to always sound like this but at a lower volume(audible when I put my ear next to them): Regular case fan sound.m4a I don't have any other North case or Aspect 140mm's to reference, so I'm not sure if this is normal? The second one I noticed was from the GPU(MSI Suprim X 4080) when I was in the menu for Hitman 3, I opened up the side panel and it sounded like this(the mic is under the GPU fans at the start and end): Coil whine open panel.m4a It disappears as soon as I load a level or quit the game. I guess that's coil whine? Never heard it before irl though. And it sounds like this when I'm in Witcher 3(recorded from the GPU I/O panel): Buzzing from back of PC.m4a But this one seems to go away when the fans stop, but it's still a weird buzzing sound that doesn't sound like the coil whine in Hitman 3?

CPU upgrade on a 2007 IMAC 24". Put in recommended T9500 and followed utube demonstration. Pretty sure we followed procedure closely. The computer will not boot up. I get black screen and fan noise. The on button will turn it on but will not turn it off. I had to turn power off. The plan is to look at motherboard LED lights tomorrow. I recently raised ram to 6gb and replaced HD with SSD. It responded well to that upgrade. Any ideas?

Hello to everyone that will read this. I've got a lot of information here so please bear with me. For background, here are my system specs: CPU: i9-10850k CPU cooler: MSI MAG Coreliquid 240R RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V 2x16 gb kit 3200 MHz Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus Master z490 GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5600xt Storage: WD Black SN750 500gb, Samsung 860 Evo 1tb PSU: Cougar VTE600 (600 watt) Case: Thermaltake V200 Tempered glass RGB edition CPU thermals: When I first built this computer, I had a Hyper 212 Evo on my CPU. It was very evident that it was not capable of handling my 10850k so I quickly upgraded to an MSI 240mm aio. I was doing some thermal testing earlier and I found some interesting numbers. All of this is documented in the included pictures which are labeled based on the testing conditions. I tested my CPU temperatures under full load with the case panels on and off as well as with the GPU running under full load and not. For putting the CPU under load I was doing a test render on Autodesk Inventor and I used Heaven for loading the GPU. I also made sure to give ample time between each test for the liquid in the aio to get to room temperature (roughly 21 °C). I have a couple of concerns about this data. The CPU appears to get above 90 °C within 10 minutes of running the render without the GPU on with the side panel on and off. The side panel made about a five degree change at the 15 minute mark of testing in all scenarios but temperatures still climbed to 100 °C after more time. When I put the GPU under load, I was able to hit 100 °C well before 10 minutes compared to roughly 20 minutes without the GPU under load. I was assuming that the GPU could be introducing more hot air into the system which decreases the amount of fresh air that the aio gets, but testing with an arduino and a thermistor suggest that this is not the only cause. I will go into more detail in the CPU power usage section, but it seems that there is something going on there. AIO noise levels: Another concern of mine is the noise of the AIO fans. MSI's website advertises 42 dB but as my data suggests, this is very wrong. Under full load, I recorded 75.30 dB with side panels on. At idle, 54.73 dB again with the side panels on. Granted, I am in a dorm room with a sound floor of roughly 35 dB so I expect that these numbers are not perfectly accurate, but that stills seems load to me. Especially since my computer sits less than 15 inches from my head. Does this seem too loud or is the manufacturer usually blatantly wrong with their numbers? I expect them to give best case numbers, but I am not far off of doubling the noise output under load. Seems wrong to me. CPU power usage: I found even more interesting number while checking the power output of my components. When under load with no GPU, the CPU was pulling between 215 and 235 watts of power. I was not able to replicate it for this, but I have seen the CPU pull 250 watts with the GPU under load as well. In the image "10 min no graphics side panels" you can see that the CPU hit a max load of 489.2 watts. I figure that it was a spike likely cause by me opening task manager a little bit after I started the test. Especially considering that I am pretty sure that an EPS connector cannot handle that much power. Either way, when I was running the GPU at the same time as I was testing the CPU I was noticing more power being delivered to the CPU. Is that normal and is it a problem? I am going to be upgrading my GPU to a rtx 2080 soon so I was going to get a new PSU so that I don't have to daisy chain my PCIE power connector. My motherboard supports a second EPS connector so I was wondering if I should look for a PSU with another EPS cable. I know that it is not necessary unless doing extreme overclocking, but 230+ watts is a lot of power. Would it not be more stable with the extra EPS power? I have also attempted to overclock recently and it is never stable no matter how little of an overclock that I do. I need a lot of CPU power so I am trying to squeeze out what I can. I guess that my overclocking woes could be caused by my clearly not winning any silicone lottery given that my all core boost is 100 MHz short of spec. Other cooling details: I am in a very dusty area so leaving side panels off is not really a good idea. Also, for cooling, I have three Thermaltake RGB fans for intake running at a constant speed that I cannot measure (front of case), one Thermaltake non RGB fan acting as an output (back of case) operating between 400 and 1500 rpm depending on CPU thermals, and two MSI RGB fans on the aio acting as outputs operating between 650 and 2077 rpm again dependent on CPU thermals (top of case). I know that there are a lot of questions in there. If I missed something, it may be in the pictures that I have included. Otherwise, I am happy to answer more questions. Any information helps. Thanks for sticking though that, Alec

Hello, I recently noticed my gpu make a vibrating sound when it's fans start up. The noise only appears when the fans start up, it is quite quick and only lasts a fraction of a second. The sound usually can be heard only once or twice when the fans start up. I tried starting up the fans from 0 rpm to different speeds and it seems like the fans jsut vibrate on startup and it doesn't depend on the speed. Is it something to worry about and how can I fix it

I recently bought a gtx 980 off of ebay and it works fine and looks like it has been taken care of. The only issue I've seen, or heard, is a fan rattling noise from the GPU at high rmps When I'm just browsing the internet or watching vids there is no problem, but when I launch a game the fans will ramp up and create a rattling noise. Any idea as to why this could be and what I can do about it?

Hi, Last year i picked up two cooler master MF120 RGBs because they were on sale and my case had the 'case fan' version of these. on fan is almost completely silent till about 1200rpm till wind noise kicks in, the other however is very noisy at all rmps, sort of like a bearing noise, similar to when one pushes the blades away from the frame. Is this because i got the one silent fan made by cooler master and im comparing the noisy one tho that or is this just faulty, if it's the latter is there a way to 're-lube' the bearing because i'm 90% sure there's not warranty. thanks.

Ps4 pro has been loud even right out of the box new. Sound like a jet engine spooled up. Kept clean and even after new paste still loud. Well I decided to lap the cooler. Found the crimp for the cooler pipes left a indentation in the mating surface. It was pretty bad . Was a factory issue. I lapped it out. Polished it with a dremel. Didn't get a pic of the finished but got some of the imperfections. So if you have a ps4 pro that sounds like a jet.. lap or out.

Hi there, This graphics card is two days old and upon putting the fans to 100% a very strange high pitch noise occurs. The noise is present from about 70% onwards which changes pitch as the fan gets faster. Please see the video link Ive posted, I cant find any other posts with a similar noise. The card is a Gigabyte RTX2070 Windforce 2x. Thank you! Link: https://youtu.be/2afj6laJLS8

I'm going to buy an Asus GTX 1060 Turbo TODAY! And I've seen people complain about the noise a lot and how it's like a jet engine. But I don't know if I can tolerate the noise level it'll make or not and don't want to regret getting it. That's why I wanted to measure the noise level my current laptop is making. It's pretty loud at times but when I crank the volume up I can't hear it. So is there anyway to measure the noise level my GPU is making and compare it with the Gtx 1060 Turbo? I'd really appreciate a quick response as I'm REALLY in a hurry

Hello, I have a Palit GTX680 Jetstream ... it has 3 fans, the middle one only turns on if the GPU temp is over 80-85C... not sure exactly when. I've noticed when under load and the 3rd fan starts spinning it starts making an annoying noise as if the fan is touching a wire or something. Well... its not. I've opened my PC, put the GPU under load and while it was making this noise I touched the fan to a stop... now it spins without the annoying noise! I haven't disassembled the GPU, but do you think its a loose screw, the fan just dying or I have a magic healing touch? I really don't want to disassemble the GPU for nothing so any opinions matter. Thanks

Hey guys! I am in desperate need for a new laptop and I thought I had found *the* one but I have read multiple times that the fan noise is quite loud even while doing just office work. That is kinda a deal breaker for me. The laptop in question is the Asus Zenbook UX341 https://www.amazon.de/Zenbook-UX3410UA-GV078T-Full-HD-Notebook-i7-7500U/dp/B01MT8G7VY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1494437884&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+zenbook+14 It is pretty much perfekt imo: 14 inch 1080p IPS screen with thin bezels sexy with awesome build quality nice IO with USB A, SD slot, HDMI, USB c powerful with i7, 16gb ram (I don't need a dedicated GPU) Have you got any experience with this laptop? Is the fan noise as bad as some say? And could you maybe give me alternatives which meet my criteria? This would really help me out! Thank you for your help in advance (=

Hi, I have Cooler Master Hyper 212X CPU cooler and it's been 3 years. Now the fan is making some vibration noises[I think], it's very loud.... Is there anything I can do besides buying a new fan?

Hi, I recieved a new Dell XPS 15 a couple of days ago, loaded it up and everything went smooth. Overall its a well built machine. There's a bit of coil whine but it's only audible if I put my ear to the keyboard so it's not a big deal. But there is one glaring issue. The fan. Specifically the right fan. It occasionally makes a clicking-like humming sound, not the usual hum that laptop fans make. I attached a short video of the sound. It's occasionally louder than what's in the video. It's not consistent, sometimes the sound stops entirely and doesn't only happen when the fan is at 100%. I took off the back cover and tried to see if anything was obstructing the fan, but there wasn't anything noticible. I even took the fan out to inspect it and it looks fine. Made sure the screws were in tight when I put it back in. It made the sound even when the back cover was off, I tested for that as well. Any idea what it can be? Or should I just have Dell exchange it for a new one? VID_20171025_132226~2.mp4

Hi! Recently acquired a 1080ti secondhand and it seemed to working fine but this sort of purring noise kicked in initially. Its an on and off situation right now as it sometimes faintly appears at low rpm's compared to the first encounter of the sound. I would guuess this would be the blower fan being weird? idk if its coil whine. I tested another blower style card (both were founders edition btw) it didnt really have that kind of noise or that loud. Please let me know what this is and what I should do or if I should run some tests? Hi, I have just buildt a new pc using the 3700x cpu by amd and the kraken x52 cooler for it. The base clock should be at 3.6 hz, but it is constantly running at around 4.2 - 4.3 hz. The cooler increases speed to what sounds like full speed every 5 seconds or so. I have the balanced power settings applied in the windows power settings. the lates bios is installed for the asus rog strix x570-f, and the latest cpu driver is installed. I would like to know how to set the clock to stay at under 3.6 hz, and how to stop the fan from being this loud + decrease the temp of the cpu as well. thanks in advance - Charles

Hi! Lately I started using my pc for couch gaming so noise levels became important to me. I have a gainward phoenix 1080, which is supposed to be a quiet card, however even if I set the fan speed to a fix one in afterburner the fans ramp up under load, sounding like a jet engine. The strange thing that none of the rpms, actually change in monitoring. So if I set it to 1000 rpm fixed the noise is much louder while under load (I tried with superstition and furmark) I checked every other fans, and it’s the gpu that makes the noise for sure, as cpu even while stress tested is much quieter and my case fans are fixed at 100%. How could I fix this problem? Thanks!

New Laptop, control fan noise? (2in1 144hz?)
Chris V posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
Hey guys, Ill make it short. First off: thanks for taking the time. Thinking of buying a new laptop. I produce music, and make music videos too. I have a powerful desktop if things should get real sticky (that Ill use, say if things get laggy or should I require faster export times; or other example, mixing and mastering my songs). For work I use adobe acrobat, word, excel, outlook extensively and do note taking / reading on an ipad pro (10.5 120hz). Since Im used to having the latter, a high refresh rate, bright screen would be amazing. My plan is to just ditch all the devices I got now and get 1 object that just does it all and period. Im sick of moving data around and not finding notes or reminders, cause devices dont sync etc etc (or apps just log you out after an update; like outlook on iOS). What can you recommend? "dream" laptop - bright, high refresh rate, touch screen; pref 1080p or 1440p - optimally 2in1 design (for writing on the screen, like on paper) - powerful CPU (thinking of H series, with a Throttlestop "power saving" profile for when im not plugged in); preferrably new ryzen tho (cheaper / energy efficiency? I'd have to read up this topic though, so dont worry about intel/amd too much now) - dedicated GPU (1660 ti - 2060 ish? I would not go for max q, since I think it takes too much of a performance hit) - pen - good touchpad, and keyboard - solid IO - excellent cooling - that if I use like a "save energy" profile under windows / equivalent manual setting in Throttlestop - doesnt make any noise when idle (library) or when in DAW (recording vocals) You got any ideas? I greatly appreciate your time and help! Greetings, Chris -
Hi Guys I have an about 1.5 year old TX650M V2 Gold PSU, but I notice it's a bit loud when I say loud, I don't mean R9 290 loud, but it's more audible than a Wraith Spire under about 60% load (IIRC),but the PSU is at idle when making this much noise. I have no other fans on in my system at idle (except the ones on my Scythe Ninja 5 but they I can not hear those at all),but the TX650M fan seems quite a bit louder than it should be at idle. I cant find the amount of noise it is supposed to make anywhere either. If someone could record and submit the noise that their TXM PSU is making so I have some reference that would be very helpful. If mine happens to be louder than normal I guess I'll have to RMA the thing and hope I get one that's actually quiet

IMAGE : https://imgur.com/a/1j6Plz8 I have cooler master N200 and the front fan is noisy, so I moved it outside according to this. [the reason was this] I'm worried if this could affect the air flow or not, it is pretty close to the front panel now. There is this small gap marked as "A" to facilitate the easy removal of the front panel, that gap could have been a possible help for air-take as well before switching it outside. Now it wont be much useful, so I'm guessing the air flow might get reduced a bit? or reduced due to the fan directly releasing air into a honeycomb-designed metal grill instead of open space like earlier? Please any help on this is appreciated, I'm new to this. Thanks.

Good day all. So this may be a silly question and i am not entirely sure where to post it, so it seem logical that i do it here. But does anyone know what AIO is the best for the new Noctua fans(NF-A12 PWM) as in which AIO would benefit the most from having those fans on? Best regards Reddice.
