I have a noob question regarding my NAS. I pulled an old computer out of my local transfer station that had three 1.5 TB WD Greens in it, so I decided to set up this computer with TrueNAS and use it as a NAS. In a shocker to absolutely nobody one of the old 1.5TB WD greens has begun to fail after being used for only a few months. As I was aware that using older hard drives not designed for this use case which I literally found amongst the trash were likely to do this I set up all three drives in a raid 5 so I can lose a drive and not have to worry too much. As this drive is failing I want to preemptively purchase another one and install it in its place but I cannot find any new hard drives that are 1.5 TB. Could I purchase a 2 TB hard drive and just throw it in and then rebuild the array or will that cause a problem because it's a higher capacity than the drive it's replacing? I would assume this is not a problem but I want to double check before I do anything and potentially screw something up.

Hi Everyone, ever since i upgraded my PC to a Ryzen 5 3600 based build, my PC does not boot without "Assistance", let me explain, usually a PC just posts once you have pressed the power button, it doesn't happen for me. my power on led in the power button does not come on right away but all case fans spin and everything RGB lights up as normal, but for some reason i have to do a mouse click or press keys on the keyboard multiple times and it just boots up most of the time. i am concerned it might be my power supply failing, i did some research and found that a faulty power switch could be the culprit, i have however eliminated that possibility by jumping the motherboard on, same issue. i would really appreciate some thoughts on this issue, possibly even a solution if someone has faced this issue and managed to fix it, Specs are mentioned below. Also- thoughts on the Antec NE650M V2 as a replacement power supply if needed. PSU- Corsair VS550 RAM- Adata RBG Spectrix 16 gb 3000Mhz CPU- Ryzen 5 3600 HDD & SSD- WD Blue 1 TB and Kingston Sata 500GB GPU- GTX 1060 6gb Motherboard- MSI B450M Pro M2 V2 Case (if it helps)- Antec GX505.

Hey guys, One of my friends got a pre built and I offered to upgrade his CPU and GPU. His current specs were i5 4440 and a gt 730 with 12gb of ram. I swapped the i5 to an i7 4790 and the gpu for a GTX 750ti. Everything booted, tested it out 5 times. I asked if he wanted more ram and he said sure so we swapped his 12gb (4x2 + 2x2) to 16gb (4x4). This is what made it not boot. It first went to the Dell logo and the loading bar was progressing and then it randomly shut off, I was touching the cooler at the time not sure if that caused it or coincidence. I was also touching the cooler in the 5 tests mentioned before. Now the computer does not boot. I press the switch and the fans spin and then turn off. I did the Dell power test with the switch in the back of the psu, and all components power on. I checked the voltage of the CMOS and it's ~ 3 V. I checked for any bent pins and they all look good to me. I removed the CMOS and theoritcally did a bios reset. Not sure what else to do, is the motherboard bricked? I tried various ram configuration (with old ram that worked) and no good. I tried no ram installed and still same behavior happens. I have attached a video of what happens below. Thanks VID_20200401_180317.mp4

Hello guys, So Recently I've run into a bit of a problem i started hearing clicking noise from my 500 Gb seagate which we know is a sign of failing HDD but just to make sure i ran crystal disk info and it is indeed reporting a bad HDD. To make matters worse i use this HDD as a photo backup. I've already ordered a new higher capacity drive but with all the logistics issues its gonna be a week before amazon delivers it. So meanwhile i'd like to transfer the data on this drive to the other one before it takes a turn to the worse. Now i tried to normally copy and paste the data but the speeds are inconsistent (I assume the head is failing) and it keeps disconnecting and the copying process is terminated. My question is there a safer way to copy the data from the disk without risking the data? PS: The failing HDD has about 13780 Power on hours while the other HDD has 39700 Power hours on and its showing fine in crystal disk info. which i think is weird.

Recently just got my new 2080ti and ryzen 9 2900x. My pld system was a 2070 and a ryzen 7 2700x. However i had an interval between the two where i used my old crappy radeon 570 and ryzen 5 cpu. My new 2080 ti has 100% fan speed on startup, and i know thats a power issue. However i have a 850 psu. More then the recommended amount (650). Please help. Other specs are vengeance 3200hz ram. 500 GB ssd, 8tb hdd.

Hi LTT Forums, I haven't posted in a while but I'm back and in need of help/advice. My PC has been running into some issues I'll explain shortly, I think it's related to my RAM but I'm not 100% sure. When I built my PC I purchased 1 kit of Corsair Vengeance 8GB RAM (Can be found here: http://www.corsair.com/en-eu/vengeance-pro-series-8gb-2-x-4gb-ddr3-dram-2133mhz-c9-memory-kit-cmy8gx3m2b2133c9r). The rest of my specs can be found in my signature down below. Recently my PC became significantly slower, it became so slow that I couldn't get more then 3 fps in ANY game. It was very weird but I eventually fixed the issue my resetting my MOBO's settings. I also had an issue where my memory issue would be stuck at 99%, even though I had ended all tasks and was looking at my desktop, when using Task Manager and sorting the programs on most memory used the highest usage would be really low (like a few MB's). This would fix itself by rebooting the PC. A few days ago I noticed a performance tank in games again. For example, I was running BF1 without any performance dips on medium settings a week ago, now I constantly have framerate dips for no reason. My game keeps freezing at random times, even though it wouldn't freeze at all when I just purchased the game. I am unsure what my problem is, something is failing and I don't know what. Please help me!

So I've had my Hitachi drive for about 2 1/2 years now but before I had it my friend had it for about 2-3 years, well recently (past like 3-4 months) I noticed the speeds has dropped by over half, I was getting the typical 110/100 Read write speeds of a hard drive, but now it's really having to work to hit 50 on the read and write speeds, should I look into getting a new drive?

Razer laptops seem to fail right and left. It seems to affect 2014-2015 models. It seems to affect many models. They seem to have bad mosfet issues. The newer models seem to have a lot of BSODs caused by the drives. One of the drive apparently is positioned on the board in a way that it overheats and fails causing BSOD. The drive issue affects the Pro 2016 models starting at close to $4000. Way to go Razer.

Hey guys, Built a new machine. I believe I may have went cheap with my SSD. The first one that came in the mail was DOA! They sent me a replacement through Newegg no problem. Well since then the last month or so I've noticed some weird bugs. I've had to reformat my machine already once, and then lately while the computer is in use, it will randomly lock up. It doesn't blue screen it just gets stuck. Now I've ran several SMART tests, and even the windows diagnostic. Everything states that the drive is fine. But something must be wrong if while I'm purely letting a twitch stream run in the background as I am using my laptop for my job and I look over and it just locks up... it makes me believe something is wrong. The drive itself is a PNY CS1311 240GB. I've only used this drive as my boot, and everything else is stored on my Seagate ST1000DM003 1TB. Any advice?

Hello everyone, So, i have a laptop hp zbook 17" first generation that is around 2 and a half years old by now and i recently installed windows 10. specifications: processor: 4 th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-4700MQ (2.4 GHz, 1600MHz, 6 MB L3 cache, 4 cores, 47W) (no vPro support)* Up to 3.40 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology graphics: NVIDIA Quadro K3100M with 4 GB dedicated GDDR5 video memory Microsoft DirectX 11.1 (Shader Model 5.0) and OpenGL 4.2 capable RAM: 8GB Memory: 1TB of hdd. BIOS version: L70 Ver. 01.36 (last update. 26 sep 2016 / unable to update) The first problem started when i was playing a game and i saw some screen tears , so i updated the GPU driver and it seems to has fixed it as apparently windows 10 didn't even installed any driver after updates. Secondly after i turned my laptop off and tried to turn it on again the next day it gave the notification that my pc needed to be repaired and it did it on it's own. But these would fail, so it turned into an endless loop of trying to repair, failing at repairing and restarting. Third time the option that i thought there was, was installing windows 10 again from the UEFI, this seemed to have worked, I installed all drivers and updates and restarted my laptop. Till that point all seemed fine. Then i thought it was fine, turning my laptop on and using it for a while ,installing few games to test it out. Fourth problem came up the next day again when i tried to turn my pc on and had the exact same problem with the endless repair loop, this time i was able to enter the troubleshoot menu. where is shown the options of resetting , which all 3 don't work, if I were to chose one it would always say: "Unable to reset this PC". So later factory reset did work suddenly where I hoped it would go back to windows 8 and be fine. This didn't happen. while resetting pc to factory settings it stopped working at 39 % and crashed. this point I tried to install windows 10 through the UEFI again, and magically worked. FIFTH PROBLEM Next day I turned my laptop on again and getting now the screen of "recovery failing" with option 1 "Press Enter to try again" = when pressing this, nothing happens. option 2 "Press F8 for start=up Settings" = when pressing this, nothing happens. option 3 "Pres esc for UEFI Firmware settings" / when pressing this i do get the UEFI option menu. In there I tried to do all the system test and the test that loops until error, which always said everything passed. when I try to reset the PC it says: "unable to reset this PC". It also says that its missing a partition , and error code . 0xc000000f Right now It's doing a loop of turning on giving this error code and turning of. Please help me, I hope i didn't made it worse by trying some things on my own. All help is much appreciated.

So litterally 3 days ago, maybe not even that I made a post because I saw that in crystal disk info on one of my drives 1tb Seagate drive with around 24k hours said caution. It only had one error that was "reallocated sectors". Now after ordering a new 3tb drive and copy all my data too it my 2tb drive which I temporarily copied the 1tb data too is now saying its failing with the word caution and 3 errors. One of which being the " reallocated sectors". So my question Is should I believe/relay on crystal disk info. If so what does this mean, is my drive on the edge of failing, prone to data loss or unsafe to use? Can it be fixed with reformatting or anything? Also is it just coincidence that my 2tb is now failing or could it be because its had nearly 1tb of data copied on to and off it in the past 2 days? I just spent 90 on my new drive and really can't afford to replace this 2tb. Its only about a year old.

Hello everyone, I have a hard drive that is fairly old that I believe is starting to fail - continuous reads fail, single click when it starts working, linux loads really slow off of it. Is there any way I can continue using it as some sort of backup (I feel it may fail anytime)? Can i have it repaired and if so is it cost unreasonable? I'd love any opinion. Thanks Edit: some SMART info: https://gyazo.com/1fd55283ca4073f7fa3a43eb69af0a7f

I have owned a a second hand windforce r9 290 for about a year and a half, and now it is starting to give out artifacts at the factory clock speed (on games like project cars, squad, and insurgency). The downclocked performance (800mhz) on my 3 1080p monitors wasn't all very good in the first place(only used eyefinity on insurgency and P.C.), but now is not acceptable. My CPU is a now aging haswell core i7-4770k with 16 gigs of 1600mhz ddr3. Would it be worth spending money on a new cpu, mobo, and ram or a new video card (like a gtx 1070 or 1080)? I am looking for the most effective performance increase overall.

I tried to reinstall Windows 10 from a usb drive on a laptop but now once I hit ok after the screen where you turn off all the stuff that microsoft has to spy on you, it just restarts and starts back at the beginning of the installation options screen (the one about time zones and region, not the start screen from install usb) I cant get the laptop to boot off of the flash drive now because at startup there are no options to access the bios or boot menu. The laptop is an Acer Aspire M

So I have a sneaking suspicion that my power supply is starting to fail. My computer pretty much runs fine when not under load, but under gaming load it will frequently BSOD. My i5 3570k was overclocked to 4.8Ghz with watercooling for about two years. I am mentioning this because I figured the overclock is causing the crashes and becoming unstable. After tweaking it and finally just going back to the factory settings, it is still crashing under load. The next symptom is that pretty much everytime I reboot the computer after the BSOD it takes about 3 cycles of turning it on and off because my raid 0 kingston array does not show up until a couple POSTS. So it'll just say no bootable media is available. This just makes me think that there is something that is not having a good connection in the power supply since when my system requires more power at full GPU and CPU load it will crash. And then it needs time to be able to provide power to the SSDs again. Maybe it's just dust build up? But I have a intake filter. I am very lost and not sure. I am also thinking that it's possibly the motherboard. Any input is appreciated and thanks in advance. Hardware: Processor: i5-3570K CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken 280MM Radiator GPU: GTX980TI GPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken 280MM Radiator SSD: 2 Kingston 240GB SSD Raid 0 HDD: 1TB 2.5mm Drive Motherboard: I don't remember and am not home at the moment to check. So, I have an array being given to me by a MySQL query. Here is the array, as it is printed by print_r function: Array ( [policydatakey] => 1 [policydatapolicykey] => 1 [policydatastatus] => Active [policydatapolicyname] => Policy 1111 [policydataprocessorname] => My Processor [policydatabranchcode] => Branch1 [policydatafiletaxid] => Taxid1 [policydatafilestate] => XX [policydatafilelicense] => Lic111 [policydatainsuredname] => Trim [policydatarisklocation] => 4 [policydataunderwritingcompany] => Stuff n Thangs [policydatapolicystate] => XX [policydatapolicynumber] => 1111 [policydatapolicytype] => 8 [policydatamultistate] => 9 [policydatalineofbusiness] => 0 [policydataeffectivedate] => 1 [policydataendorsementeffectivedate] => 2 [policydataenddate] => 3 [policydatapremium] => 4 [policydatainsuredamount] => 5 [policydatapolicyfee] => 6 [policydatainspectionfee] => 7 [policydatacatfee] => 8 [policydatasltaxes] => 9 [policydatafiremarshaltax] => 0 [policydatasurcharge] => 5-surcharge [policydataadditionalassessment] => 2 [policydatastampingfee] => 3 [policydatainvoicenumber] => XXXX [policydatainvoicedate] => 2016-02-02 [policydataac1] => 6 [policydataac1date] => 2016-01-01 [policydataac1comments] => 8 [policydataac2] => 9 [policydataac2date] => 0 [policydataac2comments] => 1 [policydataac3] => yes (ac3) [policydataac3date] => 3 [policydataac3comments] => Ac3 Comments go here [policydatacomments] => My Comments ) When I run is_array on the variable that holds that array, it returns boolean TRUE. i.e. if (is_array($data)==TRUE){ printf("It is an array."); }else{ printf("It is not an array."); } Comes back as "It is an array." When I try to have that array printed to a .CSV using fputcsv(), I get the following: Catchable fatal error: Argument 2 passed to fputcsv() must be an array, null given... When I try to have that array printed to a spreadsheet XLSX file, using xlsxwriter.class.php (see here), it complains of the same thing. Neither have a problem using a simple test array, as follows: $array = array( array('year','month','day'), array('2004','8','20'), array('2008','12','13'), ); The way I'm getting the array I'm trying to use is with the following: $data = $conn->query($sql); // $conn is the connection credentials to the MySQL Database, and $sql is the sql query. $data_array = array(); $data_array = $data->fetch_assoc(); fetch_assoc() is supposed to return an associative array, which it seems to, rather than an object. I have no idea what the issue is.

I’m worried that my PSU might be dying. It’s a 3 year old Corsair RM 650x. My PC is exhibiting weird symptoms in the vein of: fans spinning when power button is pushed, but then stop then PC turns on (no CPU clocks or voltages changes made). The fan has been running excessively loud for the past few months, and when I slightly undervolted my CPU (i9 9900K) to 1.125v it worked fine for a while even under load. My system would eventually lose power and not reboot until manually pressing the power switch on my case. Please note that I upgraded my components just a month ago and am using an Asus Prime Z-370A II motherboard with my 9900K. Before that I was using an MSI Z270-A Pro board with an i7 6700K. Is there perhaps some user error? Is my mobo potentially bad? I hope not because this is my first time switching to another brand from MSI in 8 years and I’d hate to have made a mistake switching brands.

CrystalDiskInfo Showing Caution. Not Looking So Good.
vTwisted1xYT posted a topic in Storage Devices
So i was slowly getting rid of Malware on my computer from my GF being on it. I was wondering how my PC was doing since i havn't really taken the time to check on my main PC. Well downloaded CrystalDiskInfo probably 30minutes ago.... As soon as it loaded seen that big ol Yellow Caution. I said probably a false positive let's check. I then scrolled down and seen this. So i was like hmm. Converted the Raw Value 2E1 to Decimal. Got 737! I was astonished. I was like okay.. What else. hmm nothing else looks bad. Then i found it. Welp time to put that new SSD in. Also im not tripping right? That's an insane number ~- 3 replies

Just last week my +10 y/o Zalman ZM750-HP failed. The PC restarted after I loaded a game and BIOS presented a power surge notice on boot. The system loaded back into windows, into the game menu, then shutdown - this time there was no power, and no turning it back on. I replaced the PSU with an EVGA Sn 850-G3 and noticed immediate system stability improvement. Here's what changed: USB power Output: Wireless Headset charge and battery life improvement - I was hating on the Corsair Void wireless RGB battery life (it's still not amazing but much better than it was) CPU/RAM/GPU Stability: Discord voice stutter when CPU under load, games minimizing at random or interval timings (more so when certain launchers were open at the same time), game freeze (seconds) from time to time, Video Editing software crashes - ALL GONE General software stability improvement - system more responsive PSU stability: This system would restart on first shutdown, no longer have this issue. To knowledgeable folks these symptoms might be obvious signs, however, myself, never having a failing PSU had no idea. I always thought software conflict was causing my system issues and after seeing these changes I searched online to see if anyone had shared the same. In the results I found symptoms described more severe or telling of power issues and so wanted to share what I consider are more discrete symptoms of failing PSU. Of course if you have these symptoms of similar, they might not be caused by your PSU. But keep in mind while troubleshooting especially if yours is pushing it's life expectancy.

HI! So for the last few days i have been having problems with my PC not starting properly. The fans spin but the PC doesn't start, and i have to shut it down and turn it on again. Also today i tried to play R6S with friends and my Pc suddenly crashed. First i thought it overheated, but as i had recently cleaned it i was skeptical and monitoring the temperatures in game they seemed normal CPU around 50 and GPU around 75 Celsius. Afterwards i ran a stress on both the GPU and CPU seperatly and everything worked fine. Than i decided to try to test both at the same time in AIDA 64 and after a second or 2 my PC crashed. I tried it again with the same results. Now i believe that indicates that my PSU is falling. IT is a few years old at this point. It is a no thrills Cooler master 600W 80 plus bronze one. But i just wanted to hear your opinions if it might be something else worth checking out before buying a new PSU since i do not have a spare one to test it. Thanks in advance.
