TL;DR: PC won’t turn on, even when ram and gpu are removed. Power supply tested and is good. My PC was left on for 36 hours while running a plex server, and when I went to use it, it just turned off with a click. Now whenever I turn it on it clicks as well. I used a power supply tester and my psu is good, I’ve reseated all cables and now my RAM and GPU are out of my PC and it still won’t turn on. The moment I click the on button I hear the power supply click on then immediately click off. The fan starts for about a second. This even applies when only my 24 pin and cpu power cable is connected. When my ram was in, the usual rgb wasn’t lit as well and only one light out of all the lights on my motherboard turns on: the pwr_led. What else could it be, is my CPU or Motherboard dead? If so, how can I tell which?

hello everyone :) I recently upgraded my pcs mobo and cpu to an i7 9700k and a rog strix z390-f gaming mobo (I took these parts from my partners Scan 3XS system so they have been professionally overclocked) but i have been finding im having booting problems after a BIOs update. This only happens maybe every other day but its enough for me to be concerned. When i boot my pc, the screen will not turn on and remain black and i get a green light next to boot on my mobo. The only way i can get my pc to boot is to unplug my index from my GPU and restart. The problem with this is each time this happens, bios will reset and doesnt detect windows so i have to go into bios and reset up my pc to be able to boot windows. I feel like there can be a few culprits to my problem. The first thing i think it may be is having my index plugged in on boot, but this has never been a problem before and id rather avoid unplugging my headset from my gpu each boot as not to damage the display port. Secondly, could this be a problem caused by a dying cmos battery? Im not too sure on this since the time does not reset after turning my pc off. Thirdly, could this be a problem with my boot drive? and lastly, is this caused by a bad BIOs update? I'm not sure what to do next to fix this problem, but any suggestions are appreciated.

So I was installing Kali on my system on oracle and it said it needed virtualization turned on. I went into bios and enabled svm (Mother board is asus prime b450-A). I had already enabled d.o.c.p before installing kali. the system ran fine at 3200Mhz profile 1 however it failed to boot after I changed the svm. I disabled svm but the system still crashed. Restoring to defaults i found out that d.o.c.p is now causing the system to fail boot. Disabling it makes it work fine but its sad to see my 3200Mhz ram running at 2666Mhz. Any idea on how i can fix it? Everything is default the only thing i changed in the bios was d.o.c.p. System is R5 3600 16Gb XPG Spectrix 3200Mhz Vega 64 128 Lexar m.2

My laptop is LG U560 (2013) Chrome, version and windows10: On the Tuesday night I decided to update my laptop since it had became sluggish in the last week and thought the update might help as suggested by many youtube videos, after trying other fixed I came across with the updating my software solution so I proceeded. Duringthe nightI downloaded the windows update assistant and left my pc downloading the updates at 49% before I went for bed, 7 hours later I woke upand the pc was installing the updates after restating automatically but it was stuck at 30% for hours then it suddenly went off which could have been the problem with my faulty laptop battery, then I pluggedin and tried booting, and here I ended. My laptop can not boot anymore and it's stuck in this loop. It has created these unknown copies of my windows operating system and wherever I try booting one of them, I get driven back to the recovery menu. So here iam, stuck and I idle because all my work is on here. The are the clones of windows I have but never created. I get here after choosing one operating system from the list, when I select a language I get redirected to the recovery menu again.

I tried installing the StoreMI app from AMD's website because I wanted to see what it did and I thought my cpu's drivers were out of date, after installing it, it starting causing my pc to constantly crash so I tried uninstalling it through the Apps menu in the windows settings app and it caused the computer to crash while it was uninstalling, now my computer is refusing to load even into safe mode, nothing is working, on top of that bs, my computer is incapable of recognising my password for my microsoft account despite the fact I can sign into it through my laptop just fine with the same password, I have no idea what to do. I really don't want to reinstall windows but I have a feeling that I'm going to have to at this point, I'm really fucking pissed especially since I downloaded StoreMI directly from AMD (I made sure it wasn't a paid link or fake website) and now I lost access to my entire fucking computer because of this. Hey all, So, I've been trying to upgrade my sister's computer. It's a Dell Inspiron 518 with a Core 2 Duo E7500 and 2Gb of DDR2 I recently learned of the little 771 Xeon trick that makes them compatable with Socket T, and so I bought some more memory and an x5460 to throw in. The problem is, the motherboard HATES this memory. Everytime I try to put a stick in, it beeps at me and doesn't post. The memory I'm trying to use is this: http://txmicro.com/Kingston-KC6844-ELG37-1GB-DDR2-PC2-4200-p-5034.html Somebody please help

Earlier, I installed some new RAM into my PC when I test booted it, it ran just fine. When I moved it back to it's normal spot and plugged everything into it, the PC's fans spun up a bit, but then died. I redid the cables (everything in my setup is on the same powerstrip) and it booted. I heard the windows boot noise, however, only one monitor came on and the other only has a black screen with the mouse cursor on it, which I can move. As of yet I have not tried restarting it, any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm unsure of what to do next.

So this is pretty much what is going on I have an intel i7-4790k which was originally on a test bench. Well, something ended up happening and i did a linus and the bench fell while running. The motherboard is a MSI z97 gaming 5. When attempting to boot, i get a post code error 03 which according to the manual is pre north bridge initialization. Nothing comes up on screen, and it will freeze here until reset or psu is switched off. If left alone sometimes it will shut off and reset by itself showing post code 00 but usually itll just stay on and show 03. I have another motherboard which is much cheaper from MSI. It has no post code or beeps and when turned on it just sits there with the fan running nothing on the screen. The functionality of both boards is unknown as I do not have another cpu to test and ive never seen the cheaper board work. Do i assume the motherboard is bad and go for a new one? Or should i chase down another cpu/psu and see if one of those are the culprit? I am honestly lost at this point. This is my first post here so im sorry if i did anything wrong

So my brother the other day gave me two sticks of HyperX 8gb(16gb total) 2666MHz ram. I already have two 8gb sticks in my computer already and have 4 slots and support for up to 64gb of ram same, they are the same speed but just Corsair brand. So I tried installing the ram and my computer would not boot even into bios, I have LED lights next to my ram and RED is when no ram is detected and it turns GREEN when it detects ram then boots. With all 4 plugged in and both of the brand are kept in duel channel with there respected partner no so mix mash there and nothing. so I tried with just my Corsair ram but on the other two slots that I tried with the HyperX and my computer boots and detects all 16gb installed so I know all 4 slots work. I tried booting with just the two HyperX Ram and again nothing beside a RED light that states there is no ram detected. I tried both of the ram stick alone in all 4 slots and not once did anything change. The only thing I find weird is why my PC would not boot with all 4 since it seems like it cant even tell the hyperX ram is plugged in according to my LED indicator, I would think that it would boot with just 16gb but IDK. The light Turns white when all 4 are plugged I dont really care all that much I got them for free anyways and 16gb is plenty for the games and work I do, Just seems like a odd thing and dont really know what it could be. I also no longer have the box the ram came in with but I remember reading the box and no were did it say any problems with support for my specs. Update: I've done some digging online and I have seen some people ask if this ram worked for asus z170 motherboards and they state that it should work fine Specs: MOBO: z170 Pro Gaming Aura GPU: GTX 1060 CPU: i5 7500

Ok, so heres one that has absolutely wrecked my head for the whole weekend. (please excuse the long winded explanation, but im hoping something i think may be irrelevant may be relevant to someone in helping me to solve this) I have a PC (which is use as a plex server) which has 5 HDD (purely for storage) and 1 SSD (C/windows) On Friday i needed to add a new HDD (500gb i had spare) as i was suffering for space. I connected the new drive and booted into windows. Using Mini Partition Wizard (free edition) i formatted the drive for storage (it was previously a windows drive in a different machine) While doing this is noticed that one of my other drives (Disk 2 in the pic attached) was an MBR drive (apart from my SSD) so i converted it to GPT. I also noticed that 2 of my drives (disks 5 and 6 in the pic attached) had unallocated space (128mb) at the start of each drive so i expanded them to use the full drive. I applied my changes and everything was fine for a while until i began moving some files to the new drive i had added. Windows explorer froze, so after waiting and no response i opened task manager and clicked restart on windows explorer to no avail. It closed windows explorer but wouldnt reopen, i tried run+ explorer.exe and still no joy so naturally i restarted the pc...... expect nope. Heres where the problem is. The pc not only will not boot but freezes on the splash screen with the board logo and does not repond to keyboard commands (F2 or Delete for bios, or even ctrl+alt+delete to reboot). After a LOT of trial and error i finally found that when my 4TB drive is connected (disk 6 in the pic attached) either through sata OR in a USB connected caddy, this freeze happens. Powered in the caddy or powered from a seperate PSU from another pc, no change connected by Sata, esata or usb, no change connected with all other drives OR with only the ssd connected, no change same drive connected to another pc, no issue switch on the caddy after boot, no issue Checked drive health and performance with HDD sentinel, 100% Reinstalled windows, no change Rebuilt MBR on SSD, no change reset/clear bios In conclusion if the 4tb drive is on and connected to the pc on boot, the system freezes at the mobo splash screen. the only way to boot is to start the drive after boot. The issue here is 2-3 streams of content from that same drive at the same time, bottle neck and stutter so leaving it connected by usb is not an answer. Any ideas or possible solutions would be greatly appreciated. (please consider i dont have the storage space to move the content from the to attempt some fix)

I have a computer with the following specs: - i5 6600k - ASUS z170 Deluxe (MOBO) - ASUS GTX 1060 3GB - 16GB (4x4) HyperX Fury DDR4 Memory - 1x1TB WD CAVIAR BLACK HDD - 1x240GB HyperX Fury SSD - Corsair CX500M 500W PSU - 5xNewly installed UpHere RGB Case fans (from Amazon) Issue Description: (I should note: This issue started when i moved my custom built Pc from its original PowerMac G5 case into a new black glass side panel case with lots of fan mounts so i can sell on ebay - so the parts in the PC have worked really well together for the last 2 years until now). The problem i have is when the power supply is connected to all the correct sockets on the motherboard, I turn the PSU on using the built-in power switch, then there is a reasonably audible whining/buzzing noise coming from inside the computer. I removed the GPU to see if the sound was still there (it was) and therefore i dont believe it is the GPU. However, i tested the PSU on another system to see whether the PSU was broken and that was all working too. I then tested the 5 RGB case fans and they all worked too (however i never managed to get them to work with this system because the current issue arose before i got the chance.). im guessing the issue is either the CPU or the motherboard - as i dont have another spare new enough system, there is no way for me to test components individually. I also cannot afford to buy a new system or just throw away any parts that might still be working. HELPPPPPPP

Hi Guys, Really dont know what else to try with my issue, hoping somebody can give a something else to test. When i turn on my PC Bios sometimes works fine, it will then display that its booting Windows but when it gets to the login screen the page goes black but the machine is still accessible through RDP. Sometimes it will crash in Bios, sometimes when it boots its not accessible through RDP and sometimes it gives me post error codes on the motherboard for PCIE issues. Sometimes it will work in safe mode. I can usually get it booting if i remove the driver for the graphics card but this only works on certain cards. Temps all seem good, im checking through software, BIOS and with an inferred temp reader I have tried replacing: HDD's, sata cables, screen, Ram, PSU, CPU, Motherboard and the Graphics card (tried 4) I have tried multiple components but my current setup is: Custom Watercooling loop Watercooled AMD FX6100 Asrock 870 Extreme3 Watercooled GTX 480 8GB Corsair XMS3 1600mhz Antec GX650 Bronze PSU If anyone has any suggestions it would be really appreciated! Will,

OS: Linux - Elementary os freya 64bit HDD: WD black 2TB Elementary os has been complaining about no more space on boot partition for a while. Today i tried to install software (i think it was gparted) to make the partition bigger, but the installation failed. Ubuntu software center tried to repair some software but i dont know what software it repaired. I tried to make a topic here but right after i clicked "follow this topic" the system froze. then the screen got full of rainbow colored noise. I tried to restart my computer but the screed said "BOOT ERROR", i pressed enter (this has worked before) and it seemed like it was going to work. then the screen was full of text (like the linux console but without the ability to write commands). I remember the last line said something like " kernel panic VFS couldnt mount fs" + i have got the boot error message during boot some times before. when i pressed enter the message went away and the system booted normally.
