LTT. please record vid about it
hacknorris posted a topic in Linux, macOS and Everything Not-Windows
okey. im gonna just tell you to record a vid where you : - will find any bug in kde neon (most bugs are in beta developer version) and: - make account on their bug requester with other nick which wouldnt show anything youtube-related (no "linus" or "ltt" ) - normally show this bug. why would you do it? me about a month ago filed first request to them. nothing special i could live with it (installer problems). then i filed second (devlopment-related). and at the end third (settings and themes related). to the now i didnt got any replys to first 2 bugs. third one got marked as duplicate tons of times spamming same way my email. few days after mine last request i got yet other bug (might be just because they got angry that a normal guy, not a star of smth reports too much things or idk): i was deinstalling unused gnome desktop (i just had it for some testing reasons), i left pc for night to complete removal. at morning i just saw empty desktop with 0 apps (literal factory reset, like on android/ios/windows, not linux)... i was (yes not a joke, i was dumb then). kde neon beta-developer. (plasma, system version i already forgot). hope ya'll make similar vid soon. maybe they'll change. and here take these mine requests (for not cheating) : https://bugs.kde.org/buglist.cgi?email1=hacknorris123456789%40gmail.com&emailassigned_to1=1&emailreporter1=1&emailtype1=exact&field0-0-0=bug_status&field0-0-1=reporter&list_id=1959519&type0-0-0=notequals&type0-0-1=equals&value0-0-0=UNCONFIRMED&value0-0-1=hacknorris123456789%40gmail.com thanks for reading. i also left you a comment under first part of linux on yt ;) -
So this happened. My new Xbox's series S controller just died out of the blue. Tried everything and still doesn't want to power on. I'm returning it to Amazon but seems like they can't change the controller only. So without a controller how do I factory reset the Xbox? The only controller I have at home is an 8bitdo sn30 pro+ which doesn't seem to be compatible from the last post I wrote, so what else can I do to remove my stuff from the Xbox before returning it? Is there a way to do it remotely from my phone? Thanks.

I have a Redmi Note 4(mido). One day it suddenly froze (while watching ltt video by coincidence), and started boot looping on MI screen. I had not installed any custom rom or unlocked the bootloader, so I couldn't even flash twrp and get data back. I had to send it to a repair person who somehow reset the android and got it working, however all my data is erased and I don't have any backup of that data I have switched the phone off from the time I have got it to prevent any data overwriting. Can anyone tell me how can I get my data back? (It would be very helpful If I could do it for free) Edit:- I also have a laptop (I don't know whether telling this will help)

Recently I've been planning on completely wiping my 1TB and my 120gb boot SSD since im running into a lot of performance issues due to some corrupted users on my pc and just an overall bad partition job when I had transferred my boot files from my hard drive to my SSD. Does anyone know an official way of completely wiping both my HDD and SSD? I have most of my things backed up online and all my passwords are on LastPass, my games arent much of a worry as I can easily download them back again and I dont have any important files on this PC for me to worry about. I was also wondering how long the process would take and if it would be okay if I left my PC wipe itself overnight as its hard to do it during the day as I use my PC the majority of the day. Any help is appreciated, thank you.

Can you see what files were on a pc if it‘s factory reseted?
MilkShaker775 posted a topic in Windows
My question is, if you can see any kind of data that was on a Pc, before you factory reseted it choosing to delete all data. But does it really delete all data, or can you after setting up windows again, somehow see what data and account logins or whatever were on the drive? And if you could still access data would it be a difficult process to arrange that? I just wonder that because I sold my old pc and the only thing I did was a reset. I would appreciate an answer, thank you.- 5 replies

I have an HP Pavilion. After almost a year of use I backed up my important pictures and files online. And decided to start a clean slate with my PC. I went into the "Settings," hit "Update and Security," I hit the "Recovery Tab," I hit "Reset Computer," and continued to hit, "Delete all files," and followed the directions according after, after it had said my computer was Reset, it restarted and showed a prompt that said something along the lines of, "Rest ptb or something" (it was like a BIOS prompt of some sort, PBT, I don't know what it was called exactly) I struck F1 as was promoted, and my computer has sat her for five hours now with an animated white dotted spinning wheel moving in circles over a black screen. How do I fix this? Do I wait? What's next? My Computer: http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/780196/HP-Pavilion-Laptop-156-Screen-Intel/

My phone tells me that there isn't enough memory (which is wrong) and because of that I get so many "xxx has stopped working" windows that it's impossible to do anything, I tried to perform a factory reset but all the data is still there.

Hi, If virus/malware is present in other disk partition/HDD other than primary partition (C drive) will it survive C drive format and windows re-installation? Even if higher windows version (say 8.1 to 10) is installed? Also, is it possible for virus/malware in mobile to enter my cloud backup(?) and then re-appear after factory data reset? Please clarify my doubts.

Hey guys just want a second opinion on this as I am not very familiar with apple products. Long story: My sisters fiance is deployed over seas and apparently between the US and where he is his phone picked up some form of malicious program (I'm thinking possibly from a "free wifi" in an airport) and recently he accessed his bank account on his phone shortly there after the attacker got into his account and cleaned it out making off with thousands of dollars now he really needs a cell phone and there aren't any apple stores or for that matter any stores he has access too in addition road side bombs and various other political issues have made it so they are not receiving any packages. He does how ever have access to shitty wifi and can have access to a computer there. we are thinking that running a factory reset should wipe the phone of the malicious code allowing him to safely use it again. Am I correct in this assumption? Are there any other options you can think of? Short story: Need to remove virus/malware from iphone with only wifi and possibly a computer. will a factory reset completely remove it? Hardware: Iphone 5 Im not sure if this is the right area for this post thank you for your help.

I have this D-link DNS-1550-04 that's in need of some attention. It just boots to the login prompt (with a slax boot menu swooshing by quickly). There is a usb recovery guide but as the machine didn't come with any drives at all I'm scratching my head as to how I am to proceed in order to make it useable again. How do I install the system on it? There's currently 2x500gb and a 250gb drive in it for testing right now.

Hey people I have a friends computer that i need too factory reset. The problem is that it's a 2in1 tablet pc. It won't boot, it won't do Windows own factory reset, I was able to start the pc in failsafe mode, and start CMD but there's no former restore points so rstrui.exe is of no help. It does not have a normal usb port either, only a micro, and even with an adaptor the computer will not accept a flash boot drive. i've run out of ideas, i need help. please.. -TobyMak

I've got a Sony Xperia L2 (Android 7.1). It loses audio sometimes, I can't hear anything from it. The only way to recover it is plugging a jack. This is making so many trouble for me I requested help from Sony, but, they couldn't help me. What I've done so far: • Factory reset x2 • System update • Jack input cleaning • Test on Safe Mode I don't know what else to do! Please

Hello Linus Tech Community, ? Happy Thanksgiving to you all. I Recently I have decided to refresh my PC rather than sell it and start a new build like I typically would do every 6-18 months. The primary component I will refresh first will be the motherboard. Going from an Asus TUF X470-Plus Gaming -to- Asus ROG Strix B450-F Gaming or Asus ROG Strix X470-F Gaming varying a few scenarios. Questions: Please excuse my ignorance. To be honest I have never refreshed a PC only started new builds from ground up. 1. Would you recommend I clean install Windows 10 again? 2. Should I format my drives ? (I have 3 total 1 HDD business, 1 HDD Games and Media, 1 SSD for OS and application only.) Thank you guys/gals for your help HolyDori

Hello! I bought my laptop last year with windows 10 pre-installed. I signed in with my microsoft account with my previous hotmail e-mail address. Since then microsoft locked me out of that e-mail (which is still connected to my laptop). I want to change my administrator user's e-mail to my new e-mail address, but I cannot log in to my locked hotmail account. I've read that factory reset could solve my probrem, but I am not sure if I can complete it without knowing the license key. (since I bought this laptop with pre-installed windows 10) Will the factory reset work for me and help me in changing my administrator user? Do I need to know the license key to be able to complete this process? Especially if I want to remove the administrator user with my previous e-mail address (from which I am locked out) and have a fresh start with my new hotmail, being the only administrator user on my laptop. Thank you for the help in advance.

I've been having major performance issues with my S5 Mini lately. Up until yesterday, I've never had an issue with it. It opened and ran apps like it should and I never had a problem. Now, it's slow, sluggish, and freezes when I open an app or try to make it do anything other than scroll through the apps on my phone. I've cleared cache and data from just about everything, and I've even deleted a few apps I thought were the problem. My next step is just factory resetting, and I know this may seem obvious or juvenile, but does factory resetting a smartphone deactivate it? With the SIM card still in it? Thank you!

Recently my computer has been running slowly, so I did a factory reset, but kept personal files. When my computer finished the reset it felt much more slower compared to prior reset. I searched online on how to fix it, and tried many of the solutions given. I downloaded all updates for windows. I used Snappy Driver Installer to help install any drivers I was missing. But I never used this program before so am unsure if it did much. After using SDI, it still continued to run slowly. I optimized my disk drives. I downloaded and used CCleaner. I deleted windows.old (I regret this dearly) I wasn't sure what to do next so I did a Full factory reset, all files deleted. Did the same thing above and was still quite slow. Bootup takes 2 mins compared to 20 seconds was around what I had before factory reset. Loading programs or simply just opening file locations takes around 10 seconds, when before it was almost instant. My download speed somehow got slower too. Idk why. If anyone has any advice I will be very grateful. If I need to add anything please tell me. Specs Ryzen 5 1600 Nvidia 1050 ti B350 Tomahawk (unsure of bios version) Unsure of PSU, bought it couple years back Unsure of Ram but it is 8gb Unsure of Hard drive, bought it couple years back

Pretty noob question here, but I'm graduating college in less than a month, and will be building a new PC for when I live in my new apartment. My mother would like to use the laptop I've used throughout college for herself since she hates sitting in my dad's small office. I would be factory resetting the laptop so it's nice and fresh for her with none of my stuff in the way, but I upgraded free from 8.1 to 10 back during that opening. If I factory reset, does it go back to 8.1 or will I be able to keep Windows 10 for her? Thank you!
