So we use a QNAP NAS and just installed the Face Insight app, that connects to your existing RTSMP capable security camera. Now we have it all setup an everything but when trying to create events to third party applications like Zapier or Qmiix it just down right fails with webhooks, they tell you that it supports third party apps, but no other documentation on it. Anyone out there able to get it work besides me?

Recent developments in facial recognition technology have been getting quite scary, and now the EU has proposed a temporary ban on using facial recognition technology. There would be some exceptions, such as for research purposes. The temporary ban would give time to pass other legislation to better protect privacy, as well as just to see how the technology develops and gets used (or abused) in other countries. The initial proposal is for the ban to last 3-5 years. Perhaps surprisingly, Google/Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai agrees with the EU plans. Meanwhile Microsoft, which has been under fire for its pivot to privacy-unfriendly business practices with Windows 10, strongly disagrees, not least based on the "won't someone think of the children" argument. The industry reactions follow a recent leak of a draft white paper from the new EU Commission that recently took office. The white paper also deals more generally with regulation of AI technology. Google's attitude to the wider topic of regulation of AI is more cautious, reflecting their involvement in the area. But their more positive response to the proposed temporary ban on facial recognition is matched by its refusal to offer general-purpose facial-recognition API access, at least while it establishes its own guidelines and safeguards. I think these comments show that the EU is on the right track. It would be very premature to permanently ban facial recognition technology, but the rapid development makes a cautious approach prudent. I need to do a timeline of consoles,pcs, games, mobile devices etc, which phones had the first high fresh desplay? i remember there being a windows phone that had one before razer, and whats the first one with facial recognition

since yesterday windows hello randomly stopped working on my laptop (Asus ZenBook 13). I searched the internet for solutions and all I found was disabling then enabling the webcam witch didn't help with my issue. When I try signing in the computer displays "Getting ready" for a few seconds, then it becomes "couldn't turn on the camera". I went to the settings to try resetting facial recognition but the image displayed was cut into 4 and very dark for some reason, even though the camera app is working just fine. Anyone is facing the same or similar issue? or has any possible solution? notice: I have recently updated to Windows 10 2004, but the issue didn't appear instantly after that so I don't think it is the issue here.

To combat potential cheating during exams universities across the country have chosen Proctortrack to monitor students during exams. Using this method to combat cheating has raised numerous privacy concerns due to the methods that the software uses. The methods that the software uses to surveilled students are webcam and audio recording, keystrokes, screen capture, all applications or process running, hardware devices connected, facial recognition, eye movements, and knuckle scanning. After completing your exam all information that has been collected is uploaded to Proctortrack's servers for the professor or TA to view as needed. It is not specified by Protortrack how long the data is kept on their servers only saying on their website “it will be purged in accordance with the data retention policy to which your institution agreed”. My thoughts In my opinion, there are numerous other ways to combat academic misconduct without forcing students to install spyware on their computer i.e. open book exams but the questions are much harder, making the exams longer without increasing the time limit to not allow enough time to cheat, or writing original exams that do not use textbook questions (which answers are easily available for). I do have a big problem with students cheating on exams but I think this problem should be solved in less intrusive ways. You aren't allowed to look away from your computer screen without the software flagging you for cheating, which during a 3-hour exam will be nearly impossible. You won't be able to go to the washroom or get a glass of water during your exam either, all of which are allowed during in-person examinations. On top of that, if you do not consent to be surveilled in this way you are told to drop the class, which if you are trying to follow an academic plan is appalling. The biggest concern is that we have no idea where this data is going or what it will be used for in the future. Summary Rite Aid deployed facial recognition in 200+ stores of which 75 were in LA and NY. most of the stores with FR are in high crime rate cities. Rite Aid didn't say what stores are equipped with FR, but rite aid have said since then they have stopped using the FR software due to larger industry conversations. Some journalists in Manhattan and Los Angeles have been able to spot 33 of them. there is no report that they have sold any user data yet, so ill update this post if it happens. Apparently wearing your masks, causes some algorithms to fail at FR from 20-50%. Hey! Hope this is the right place to ask. I doubt what I'm after exists, but it doesn't hurt to ask. I have a horrible memory. I can't remember names, what people do for a living, what company and/or department clients are from, what that company actually does, etc... I've looked several times for smart glasses with facial recognition, but haven't found anything. What I would like is something that could be integrated into some sort of HR-database. The database would store whether it's an employee or a client, who they work for, what department, what specific job, name, basic contact info, and things of that nature. Other common features of smart glasses would be needed as well, like google maps route planning, skipping to the next song in a playlist, reading text messages and e-mail, etc. I use prescription glasses, so the ability to change the lenses is a must. I get that many people have issues with facial recognition, so if this was to be done, I would ask every person for their permission, as well as allow them to revoke that permission at any time. I don't know if anything out there is capable of this? Or even something similar to this? If there is nothing out there, I might try the Shima by Laforge Optical, but I would like to hear recommendations of other smart glasses if anyone here owns or have tried any.
