So here's the deal, I've already built my pc and love it, been running it for 3 weeks now. I didn't want it to take up much desk space though so I went with a white corsair 4000d airflow since its a good size and look for my setup. My original plan was to build the pc and run it with stock gpu cooler and amd wraith cooler until I decided how I wanted to cram a custom hardline loop in the case. This is slightly problematic, not a huge case but the 3080 Ti takes up quite alot of room. Nevertheless I could still fit a full 360mm slim rad in the front, 240 slim on top and 120 slim in the back, and use something like an ek 120 ddc pump/res combo. However, I have come to really love the look of the clean open space in the case, especially since I did an all white build... if I cram all those rads and lines in there it'll start to look pretty busy in there so what I really really want to do is run an external cooling solution. My goal here is 1. provide overkill cooling for a slightly overclocked 5800x and 3080 Ti. 2# have a completely silent cooling solution 3# maximize my desk space and appearance by putting this cooling build wherever else in the room I want lol Here's what I have figured out so far: Pc is simple... Run a very short internal loop that enters and exits the case through a pcie cover slot. The loop will enter the case and go straight to my cpu then straight to the gpu and right back out the pc through the pcie cover bracket. The back of the pc case will have quick disconnects so I can move the pc and cooling box around freely as needed. For the water box I'm going to run dual 360mm rads, with 6x noctua redux 900 fans. I figure this should be plenty of rad space to keep the fans spinning at a very quiet level and not hurt cooling performance. I'll use whatever ddc pump and res I feel like really. I have an extra corsair XD5 laying around so I could use that... should be enough head pressure to run through 2 rads 2 blocks and about 10 feet of soft water line (5 feet each way, with no more that a 3 foot change in elevation) should be strong enough right? Anyways, where I need help is how to power to and control the fans/pump. Pc is too far away to supply power the cooler so how in the world do I setup power for this stuff? I had two ideas, one was buy a cheap power supply with a jumper attached, a corsair cv 450 costs $35. In fact no monitoring on the cooler side is needed, I can put a flow meter and temp gauge on the pc side. as for the housing for the rad/pump/res/fans/power supply... haven't decided yet. I have the tools and woodworking skills to build my own custom housing if I want... alternatively I could just buy a cheap pc case to put all this stuff in. I've tried finding a radiator tower but they're all 4-$500 or more... which is crazy for something that just holds radiators lol Any advice on this is much appreciated, holiday sales are coming around quick so I figured I better jump on the opportunity to save a few bucks.

I think ideas like this are best prefixed with the statement, "I had this idea when I was drunk." Put some tubing coiled up inside of a 5-gallon bucket. Fill the bucket with salt water. Put the bucket inside a chest freezer. Hook the tubing up to your custom cooling loop. Do crazy crap like coating everything inside your pc case with silicone grease or whatever to deal with condensation. This should, in my mind, get near 0c water onto your cpu and stuff. This isn't the typical, "I should put my pc in the fridge to cool it!" idea; because, the freezer only has to work to keep the bucket of ice frozen, you can still use the freezer for freeze pops and frozen peas because the denser, cooler air remains inside the freezer when you open the lid. Someone please unravel my ignorance; show me the error in my ways. Edit: Expanding on "because, the freezer only has to work to keep the bucket of ice frozen" with some solid logic by 0ld_chicken ... The ice bucket will maybe, kind of, sort of, provide a buffer of some unknown time, ranging from seconds to hours, after which the freezer will short cycle while the bucket of water bounces in and out of phase change. At this point we reach "I put my PC in the fridge to keep it cool," and we all agree this will break the freezer. Now I wonder how long the buffer will last, and how much time it will take (if even possible without short cycling) it would take to replenish the buffer.

Hello I am going to build a new PC. For the CPU I am going for a AMD Threadripper 1950X. For the cooling I am thinking of using a peltier stack and to cool the hot side of the peltier with a phase change (LittleDevil LD Phase Change) I don't really care about power usage at all. The things I would like to know is. Is this even possible? Will a phase change be able to cool a peltier stack (ranging to get around -100/-150) how bad is it for the CPU when having the PC on for 24/7 even with really good isolation.

I was just wondering if anyone here knew of any readily made evaporator heads for phase change cooling. I have found maybe two options, only one is clearly a complete unit. I want to build my own system and am not opposed to building my own evaporator head, but I would like to see if there are any that I could just buy. please and thanks <3

I am making a sub-zero phase change cooler, and I am having issues getting an evaporator block for my cpu. I don’t have the tools or expertise to make one myself, so I probably need to buy one, but I am on a budget for this evaporator block. I have found the Chilly1 cooler online, but that costs $95, so that’s a little too expensive for me. Does anyone know of somewhere I can find myself a fairly cheap evaporator block? Links would be very much appreciated.

My build is currently overeating when I made 3D rendering, the outside temperature is very high (we can reach 25-35-40 in the summer, -25 in winter). I want to build a cooling setup for my build. But a classic watercooling is too simple... So there are my ideas: Idea 1: a phase chage cooling système that cool down water for a more classic watercooling What this mean, I will use many old AC unit and modified them to make them work properly and constantly. After, I will made classic watercooling loop with two 240 rad. These two rad will be link to the phase change rad with fan to made the air transition. Idea 2: a classic watercooling, but by using a very very big car radiator. Why? Because a 500mm by 1000mm full copper car radiator can cost around 160$... This is not very expensive. If you ave any idea about parts, plans, issues, recommandation let me know! I need your help to do this If you want a build log sayt it! Sorry for my english... I am french, I made my best

Has anyone ever tried liquid metal cooling? You loose some efficiency since metals have a lower heat capacity, but you make up for it in spades with thermal conductivities that are >100 times higher. You can also use an electromagnetic pump (silent because the only moving part is the liquid metal). If you use metal lines then these act as radiators too - although the alloy I am thinking of using makes an amazingly good mirror. Liquid metal cooling is used for extreme cooling (like nuclear reactors). There are alloys with melting points well below room temperature (that don't require mercury). I'm thinking about trying a to build a small CPU cooler based on the concept. Thoughts?

Just wondering, would it be a good idea to go liquid nitro on a de-lidded 3770K or any other cpu? would it possibly damage the die, or would it yield better overclocks?
