I have recently decided to do a dual monitor set up, however when I connect my 2nd display to the GPU the 1st monitor will flicker for a few minutes. After that it works mostly fine, sometimes both will flicker. I wonder how do I solve this issue. Mind you that the second monitor is a TV connected via HDMI, First monitor is connected via display port. Thanks!

So I'm working on completing my WFH desk setup. Now that I'm finally going to get a desk, I'm planning to complete my setup with a 27inch 1080p/1440 144hz monitor (not sure which one). My two main devices are: Gaming laptop: HP Pavilion 9th gen i7 12GB RAM with a 1660Ti 6GB dGPU. Work laptop: Asus Zenbook 14 i7-1135G7 16GB RAM with no dGPU (not that I felt a need for one) I'm looking to get a Thunderbolt/HDMI switch to connect these two devices to so that I can dock them both and use the monitor as my primary display with a Logitech MK345 wireless mouse+KB, switching to either one as and when I want to. I've been trying to figure out if my Asus' Iris Xe supports 1080p/1440p 144hz over HDMI. Intel's ark shows Iris Xe's max resolution at 4096x2304 @60hz over HDMI and 7680x4320 @60hz over DP. And support for other display resolutions and refresh rates is something I couldn't find for the Iris Xe iGPU. Does anyone know more about this?

Hi Linus and Team, If any body remembers windows 10 2004 update in march in India, i had serious issues with my Lenovo Idea pad 320, which left my laptop dead for 4 months. Had to roam around with 3 technicians to get it fixed only with the diagnostics that 2004 damaged my battery and i have to get it replaced now. So i am writing this from a laptop which is more over a desktop now. My question to all is that, my external monitor does not work anymore with this laptop, for which i cannot find any drivers to work for that stupid thing (LG monitor: 24EA53). I do get some drivers from the lg site and it does not work. But i cannot find the old CD driver (which i lost in multiple moves) anywhere online. I can connect my TV and it works with every other external as a default external monitor. But not the one which i want it to work. I am tired on this and i cant get my work done anymore. Hope to hear from you guys. Regards, Dev

I purchased a 12.3" monitor to use as a secondary display for my Steam Deck. It is sold in multiple places under a few different brand names all claiming that its native resolution is 1920x720. I have also seen that this panel is used in BMW vehicles as the infotainment/dashboard display and the documentation for that use case also shows a 1920x720 native resolution. The problem is that I cannot get Windows, or Steam OS to run the display at that resolution. I'm guessing that Steam OS will be more of a challenge, (I could be wrong...). My research thus far has at best determined that the display controller PCB included in the monitor is somehow preventing the native resolution from being "offered" as an option to the OS of the computers I have connected it to. I have tried CRU (Custom Resolution Utility) and that hasn't worked, but I haven't gone so far as editing an INF file manually as that's a bit intimidating for now. The only resolutions that work are basically 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios such as 1080p or 800x600 but, at 1920x720, this display is much closer to a 21:9 aspect ratio which is one of the main reasons I selected it. I have only tried HDMI if that matters. Can anyone help me get this thing to act right? This is a stock photo of the display/monitor: Links to the product pages on AliExpress (where I bought mine) and Amazon: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3256803925900560.html https://www.amazon.com/VSDISPLAY-1920x720-VS123ZJ01A-12-3inch-Stretched/dp/B09STFLN9Z The Amazon seller being EXTREMELY helpful when I tried to ask them about it : And just for context, here's my admittedly ridiculous Steam Deck setup including the monitor in question:

Hello everyone, For a while now I have been thinking about getting a either a monitor or a tv to upgrade my viewing experience. However, I am in a bit of a dilemma. There are a few criteria that I have in order to suit my needs, which in this case makes it very complicated for me to choose. Let me explain. I currently have my laptop (Lenovo ThinkPad P1 – 1080p display) and a secondary display (An old Dell Monitor – 1680x1050 display) as my setup, which I use mostly for University homework and watching online content. I also have a PS4 which I frequently exchange with my laptop in order to play games. Now there are two options (can’t have both): Option 1: I buy a 55” TV that I hang on my wall to which I attach my PS4, or watch Netflix. I can then game at a distance by sitting on my bed. This in turn means that I cannot use my laptop with it in order to do homework (because I do that at my desk, which would be too close for such a large tv) which is quite a bummer, so I have to keep using my old monitor for that. Option 2: I buy a new monitor to replace to old one and attach both my laptop and PS4 to it. Then I do not have a big display to watch Netflix on, but that’s okay because I can also do that on my new monitor then. This in itself is not a big problem. The problems lies in the specs I want. I am planning on buying the upcoming PS5, which support 4k HDR at 60 (or maybe even 120) Hz. Ideally I would like to buy a display that is able to project this kind of resolution, to get the most out of the PS5 experience. For a tv, this is not so much of a problem. However, if I would buy a monitor with this kind of resolution, my laptop would have a hard time driving it, because it only has a Nvidia Quadro P1000 (about as equivalent as a GTX 1050). I also want to consider 1440p at 60 Hz (or even 144 Hz), but since the PS4 Pro does not support 1440p (and apparently creates quite a hassle for those displays), I would expect that the PS5 won’t have it either. I have no clue what would be the best in order to get the best out of this situation. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Budget would be a maximum of €500, which is about $550 US. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Hey community My parents need a comfortable workstation for their buisnes that they can also take on the go. So i had to search for a good laptop and dock, but with some criteria. The laptop lid is closed when docked as there will be a new display at the apropriate height. (Some 3rd party software could do the trick?) The docking experience must be easy, preferably the laptop slides into the docking cable. (vertical?) The laptop and dock must be thuderbolt 3 or something else that is really fast. The dock must charge the laptop over the same cable. The laptop doesn't have to be ultra portable and does't have to be ultra fast. The dock must have hdmi, ethernet and usb. The laptop must be windows. I have done some research but there isn't alot of information on docking stations where you (preferably) can slide the laptop in. We live in the Netherlands so the products must be available in europe and it all has to come in at around 1500 euro or less. If someone has some ideas on how to tackle this that wil be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance ps. My grammer and spelling sucks so don't pay attention to that

Hello o/ So I bought a dell xps 15 9550. It's the i7 6700HQ version with a gtx 960m. I don't plan on gaming but would like to extend the desktop to an external 2560x1600 display (30hz isnt a deal breaker but 55-60hz is preferable). Based on what I have read the iGPU (HD 530) can run the resolution, it is running UHD (3840x2160) on the laptop display after all. The HDMI port can run it, I have also tried using a usb-c >> hdmi 1.4 adapter. And yes my cable is compatible with the res. I have tried setting a custom resolution via the intel utility but get "the custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth capacity". I have tried installing the default intel drivers but they refuse to install (because dell ones block it). I have tried uninstalling and deleting current drivers and then installing the default intel ones but the system simply doesn't recognize the presence of the iGPU anymore. I don't think the dGPU (gtx 960m) can request access to the port, I could be wrong but I think the request has to come from the dongle / port. I know we can make this work, please help me. Exact system specs: Laptop - DELL XPS 15 9550: i7 6700HQ @ 2.6ghz I think. Intel HD 530. gtx 970m 2gb. 1tb pcie ssd. 32gb ram. UHD 3840x2160 60hz touchscreen display. Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C connector). External Monitor - DELL 3007WFP: 2560x1600 @ 60hz. DVI-D only. Dongle - AUKEY usb c hub: monitors with HDMI port, it also can support 4K*2K/30HZ HD resolution. NOT A THUNDERBOLT HUB; THIS IS USB-C @ - 5Gbps. I tried dongle with nothing but display plugged in to ensure maximum bandwidth. Cable - World of Data: 1m HDMI to DVI cable. UHD compatible. I also tried a cable which I know from experience is capable of driving the resolution.

I just recently bought a Dell u2518d for my late 2016 macbook pro for an external monitor, however i ran into a few issues, first the monitor should be 1440p but i can only choose 2048x1080, what looks to me is the picture just zooms in, where the second problems comes which is all the text looks blurry, the last issue is that side black bars appears on youtube video, even worst on netflix where there are bar all sides. Please help, Thanks.

I've recently purchased the MSI GS75 Stealth 479 Laptop. Does anyone know if it's able to push G-Sync through any of the ports? Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the Thunder Bolt 3 port is connected to the Intel graphics which would not meet the requirements of Nvidia's G-Sync which requires the port to be connected to the Nvidia GPU inside. I am using a CalDigit TS3+ Hub which has a Display Port and Thunder Bolt 3 port available for video output along with the HDMI on the laptop itself. I also have a Samsung Q6F 55" QLED TV I intend on using as a secondary monitor so our guests can watch on the big screen. Ideally I'd have the laptop closed (we took extreme measures to ensure overheating would not be an issue) and placed to the side of the monitor with my peripherals connected to the CalDigit TS3+ Hub for a dual display (TV and External (g-sync?) Monitor) setup. Thanks!

Hi there! I recently bought a laptop with an i7-8750H and a GTX1060. With that I bought an external display etc. That display comes with an HDMI cable and a DisplayPort cable. Now the question is: What's the difference between the DisplayPort and HDMI cable? I've read that DisplayPort supports 144Hz (which is my monitors refresh rate) and HDMI only supports untill 60Hz. The thing is, I read different stuff everywhere. I've also read that one of them did not support the transfer of audio, but that's not necessary anyway since I'm using a headset. If someone could help me, that would be great! ElwynSB

I am trying to use a secondary 4k display with my laptop. By default the laptop uses the intel integrated graphics, which is not powerfull enough to even play a yt video upscaled to 4k. Luckily howerver my pc also has a gtx1050. Does anyone know of a way to always use the dedicated GPU for the external display? I have tryed ajusting the bios, but i haven't found an option for only using the dedicated GPU.

Hello all, I am trying to create a desktop setup for my laptop where I can simply plug my laptop into a usb display dongle and get my computer up and running on a display with my keyboard and mouse. I am trying to come up with a usb display dongle device that would have enough read and write speed to still be able to game on with decent input speed and such. There are just so many options to choose from and can be difficult to know which dongle is right for the job. Here are the products I have so far: Acer Nitro 7 9th Gen i7 with nvidia Geforce GTX 1650 Acer Nitro vg220q monitor Razer Black Widow Keyboard Does anyone know of any devices that can output to a regular 1080p display at 75hz, has two usb 3.0 ports, and plugs in via usb a or c? Thanks in advance!

I am working on a Surface Pro 3 screen replacement for my family, and have removed the busted factory screen/digitizer. They don't know if the Surface is even functional, so I don't want to order a new screen to find out something else is busted. Does anyone know if a functional Surface Pro 3 would boot up and display to an external monitor without its screen connected? My thought was to get a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cable and connect it to an external monitor and see if it will even boot before I order a replacement screen...thank you in advance!

Hello friends, I am looking to purchase an external monitor to use with my 2009 MacBook Pro. I have been using Photoshop on the laptop for 5-6 years now but due to my worsening eyesight, the laptop screen is a bit too small for me now. My main use for the monitor will be online artwork creation (mainly Space Paintings/related artwork to be displayed on sites like DeviantArt, personal website, etc). As a result, I would prefer a monitor with good color depth and accuracy. Now I know professional grade monitors cost a lot but since my artwork will only be displayed online and not printed/published, I don't really need an overly expensive monitor. I can only spend about $250...at the most I'm willing to stretch it to around $280-300. What are some good monitors in that price range - color wise for creating online artwork? My reasoning for keeping the budget around $250 is twofold. First, I don't have a lot to spend. Secondly, since I have a mid 2009 MacBook Pro, I will probably have to replace it in another 3-4 years time. During the same time, I can then spend $400-500 to get a better display instead of spending more now and having to buy again (with technology moving so rapidly these days) when I get new hardware. Does this make sense? Are there any other options that I am overlooking? I'm not sure which monitors the laptop will be able to drive so I'm listing the graphics specs from my MacBook Pro below. 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 Chipset Model: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M Type: GPU Bus: PCI VRAM (Total): 256 MB Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de) Device ID: 0x0863 Revision ID: 0x00b1 ROM Revision: 3448 gMux Version: 1.8.8 Displays: Color LCD: Resolution: 1440 x 900 Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888) Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Built-In: Yes Display Connector: Status: No Display Connected I would appreciate any advice/help in steering me in the right direction. If possible, can you include an explanation with your recommendations as to why said displays would be good for my needs (so I can understand my purchase better since I am not an expert in monitor tech) Thank you.

Hey everyone, would love to get some help with this. I just reinstalled Windows 7 on my Dell Studio 1555 notebook. But I'm getting problems when I try to hook it up to my TV. When I plug in an HDMI cable, it says it's an unsupported device. However, when I change the settings to extend the display, rather than use it only or mirror it, it works just fine. Any ideas?
