Here is the link: https://www.conceptronic.net/conceptronic_en/emrick10g-pcie-x1-to-4-pcie-x1-expansion-kit-riser-card-110014307101 For those of you who are too lazy to open it, it takes one PCIe lane and splits it into two, and is a “packet switch host controller”. I would love to know more about it, and if it is real would love to know where to get one to mess around with.

Hello all! My computer recently started losing internet connection (kind of) intermittently. I say kind of, because windows still thinks it has internet, and any page that I'm already on doesn't stop working, it just stops loading new pages. At first, I thought it was my built in ethernet port on my motherboard, since I also have issues with some of the usb ports on it, and I think the USB controller on the MB might be going bad because plugging in one device sometimes causes the others to stop working. Since then, I purchased a PCIe ethernet card and the problem is still present. My PC: ASRock x370 Killer SLI/ac Ryzen 1700x NVidia 3080 Founders edition Realtek 2.5g lite PCIe LAN card PCIe USB 3.0 card Windows 10 pro, up to date, recent fresh install Also probably relevant, I use Edge for web browsing. I've tried wiping the cache, doesn't seem to help. Any ideas are appreciated, I'm about to lose my mind and wipe the drive again :D

Hey, everyone. Hope you are well. I'm hoping to add more SATA connections to my Dell optiplex 790. I'm planning on transplanting the machine into a ATX tower with a lot of hard drive mounting space, but in order for it to work I need to know if I can use an expansion card on a motherboard this old. The board is 2nd gen Intel, and has a i7 2600. I have seen SATA expansion cards like this one on newegg that adds 10 SATA ports, but will this work on my old PCIE 2.0 board? I tried adding USB 3.0 via an expansion card a while ago, and never could get it to work. I'm not super knowledgeable on PCIE. Any suggestions are super appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I just built a new PC with Ryzen 9 5950x, Asus ROG X570 Crosshair Viii Dark Hero and RTX 3080ti. I have two m.2 slots available on my motherboard which are filled by a Samsung 980 pro 1TB m.2 ssd each. They both show up in my BIOS at this stage. I bought a m.2 slot PCIe expansion card from MSI (MSI Aero XPANDER) that supports 4 m.2 ssds and added 4 more Samsung 980 pro 1TB onto it. I want to create a bootable raid 0 setup using all six ssds. My motherboard supports PCIe bifurcation. So I have plugged my graphics card to the second PCIE slot with x8 mode (I know this will slow it down a bit). Once I plug in my m.2 expansion card to the first PCIe slot, the BIOS only shows the 4 m.2 ssds in my expansion card. It's not showing my other 2 m.2 ssds that are directly connected to the m.2 slots on board. Anyone have any idea how to get this working? Just need to create a bootable raid 0 setup using all six cards.

Just got an ASUS Hyper M.2 x16 Gen 4 to replace my 4TB WB Black HDD because it's so loud. I wanted to add two 2TB M.2 and two 1TB, but I'm fine with just the two 2TB at the least. Before purchasing, I double checked that my motherboard was compatible and I thought it was. I have an MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Edge AC. It has 3 PCIe x16 slots that can run at x16/x0/x4 or x8/x8/x4. However, I can't get the ASUS card to show up with more than x4 in the x8 slot as only one of the 2TB M.2 cards is being recognized. Does anyone have any solutions, advice, or more information on how to get this to work? Current System Processor: Intel i9 9900K Motherboard: MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Edge AC CPU Cooler: Corsair iCUE ELITE CAPELLIX 360mm RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V (4x16GB) On-Board Storage: Intel 665 1TB M.2 and SanDisk Ultra 1TB M.2 Additional Storage: WD Black 4TB GPU: ASUS TUF 3060TI Case: Corsair iCUE 465x Adding ASUS Hyper M.2 x16 Gen 4 (2) Mushkin Pilot-E 2TB (Possibly 2 more 1TB M.2)

So recently swapped my old case and power supply for new ones but my case comes with a USB 3.0 20 pin plug; my motherboard doesn't have a USB 3.0 20 pin socket however I've found a USB 3.0 expansion card for PCIE x1 with both USB 3.0 ports and a 20 pin socket. My question is, is PCIE x1 fast enough to take full advantage of USB 3.0 or not?

I'm currently running out of USB ports in my PC so I wanted to get an internal USB expansion card. After looking on Amazon however, there are hundreds of different cards from various manufacturers that I have never heard of and the reviews don't make them seem more legit. Can anyone recommend a card that fits all the following requirements: - USB 3.0 or higher - 4 ports or more - Has a reliable warranty/good support Preferable but not required: - Black PCB - Self-powered

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this.... First, here are the specs of my new pc 10 lbs of crap in 5 lb bag My Asus Hyper M.2 x4 Expansion arrived card today (installed Crucial M.2 1TB on it). Popped it in and no bueno! The motherboard won't recognize it. I tried all 3 slots.

1: what usb 3.0 type c PCIe card should I get? My motherboard only has one slot and while I could simply pick up a hud...ideally I plan on picking up a few Elgato HD60 s capture cards (one for my camera, one for a second computer, and/or console if a friend comes by). Down the road there could be four or more capture cards connected to my dedicated streaming computer for special events. (in a perfect world setting the more typc c connections on a single chip the better) 2: on the same note as the usb 3.p type c PCIe card; what is a good sata 6gbps PCIe card? Using the m.2 connections Sata 3/4 and 5/6 will be disabled on my motherboard. I need additional storage for raid, general storage, my NZXT Hue+, fan controller, and bluray read and write drive. (in a perfect world setting world setting the more sata connections on a single chip the better). my motherboard: Z170A MGaming Titani from MSI

Hello all, just registered here since I have a problem I just couldn't fix. Long story short, I'm designing a new case for my own PC (my first build). I want the case to be fully compatible with the ATX standard. But I just can't find the specifications for the expansion cards (graphics card, additional network interface, etc). Yes, I could just take my cards and meassure them, but than I can't be sure that ALL possible cards will fit. Also it will be a much cleaner build when I have absolute numbers. (Considering what odd numbers are used throughout the ATX standard, rounding would be a bad idea). And before someone asks, yes I have searched the ATX specifications for information about the expansion cards. When I have all the data I need I also plan to merge them into one big document to make it easier to build ATX-cases yourself. Thank you all in advance. -- Also please excuse my poor english, I'm not a native.

So I got the Asus b250g micro ATX motherboard and the Asus Strix gtx 1060. I would like to add some more usb 3.0 ports to my system (the motherboard have only 2 usb 3.0 ports). The problem is that the 1060 is very close to the pcie x1 slot on the motherboard and I'm afraid I won't be able to put in the usb 3.0 expansion card. It would be great if you can help me. thanks. Roy.

I find old PCs so fascinating. I got this beauty off a friend for 5 Euros, he got it as a hand-me-down from his uncle and didn't have any use for it. It was super dusty when I got it so I parted it out completely and cleaned it out. Some of the expansion cards didn't make a lot of sense to me though . . . I believe the one saying ''PHILIPS'' on it is a TV card but I'm not sure. The one with the big ''SIS'' chip looks like a video card but it seems to have an interchangeable chip on it that I would guess is the video memory, still not certain. What seems completely outlandish to me is that little PCB with the huge capacitors on it . . . it hooks up to those pins below the CPU socket but I have no idea what it is or what it does. If somebody has any idea what these things are I would highly appreciate if you could shine a light for me.

So... just browsing the internet for computer hardware as one does and stumbled upon this.. .monstrosity? Piece of hardware beauty? It's a fucking PCI-E CPU Expansion Card... anyone have more info on this? Possible LTT video??? Here's the link and a screenshot! Yeah I'd really appreciate it if I could get more info on this. In all seriousness, this is really cool hardware. Hello, everyone! I am currently looking to get the best out of an X58 system I've had for 9 years and I need advice. The motherboard I have is an Intel DX58SO, which has 6 SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) ports and that's it, no SATA III ports or M.2 slots. Therefore, the SSD I currently own (Kingston A400 480 GB, SATA III) is connected to one of these ports, which yields about half of the possible performance of that SSD. I was looking for possible ways to work around that issue and I came across expansion cards that are connected to the PCIe slots of the motherboard and have SATA III ports on them. The thing is: which model of expansion card could I use on a DX58SO so that the SSD connected to it is bootable (so that I can install Windows 10 Pro x64 in it) and actually gives me a performance boost? One of the models I came across is the ASUS U3S6, which should be connected to a PCI-E 2.0 x4 slot (by the way: DX58SO has only PCI-E 2.0 slots and below, no 3.0 at all), but I have no idea if it is bootable on a DX58SO, since it is not on the compatibility list given by ASUS. Is there any model of expansion card that could help me do that or any other way to work around this issue? The only PCI-E 2.0 slot currently in use in my motherboard is the primary PCI-E 2.0 x16, for the graphics card. The rest of them (1 PCI-E 2.0 x16, 1 PCI-E 2.0 x4 and 2 PCI-E 2.0 x1) are free. Here are a couple of links that may be useful: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboard-Accessories/U3S6/ https://ark.intel.com/pt-br/products/36888/Intel-Desktop-Board-DX58SO P.S.: if there is a way to use NVMe SSDs on that board, I'd like to know as well. Thank you very much!

Hi guys, In this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAy9N1vX76o Linus is using 2 hba cards. I come across with this LTT video pretty recently. Because I've decided a while ago to build a NAS, I've thought to expand the number of SATA ports on my mother board, to use 2 x PCI-E to SATA3.0 Expansion Card Adapter (PCE8SAT-M01 8-Port PCI-E to SATA3.0 Expansion Card Adapter 6Gps PCI-E16X for Win). Now my question is: In a NAS, should we use SATA3.0 expansionn cards or HBA cards? Why should is choose one over the other. In what way the NAS effectiveness it will change? Thanks in advance!

Hi all, I've got some experience in building PCs, but I am by no means experienced. Anyway, I've run out of SATA ports on my motherboard, so I picked up a PCIe expansion card with six more SATA ports. I installed it into an open PCIex1 slot on my motherboard, connected two WD Blue 4TB drives, booted up, and installed the driver from included CD. Had no trouble finding the drives in Disk Management and creating simple volumes, and transferring data onto them (H: and R: drives). See three attached images with filenames "BeforeSleep". The problem that I have encountered is if I put the PC to sleep and wake up later, the drives are completely missing! The card has LED indicator lights, with two lights showing the card is getting power and connected to two drives, but the drives no longer appear in "Devices and Drives" in "My PC", nor do they appear in "Device Manager" under "Disk Drives". See two attached images with file names "AfterSleep". I rebooted the PC, reinstalled the driver, but the issue persists. I've attached screenshot of the events log for one of the drives (the log is seemingly identical on both drives) after a reboot. I'm on Widnows 10, version 2004. Mobo is a MSI Tomahawk Z370. Expansion card linked here. Any help would be greatly appreciated! TIA!

Hey Everyone, I'm looking for an internal thunderbolt 3 card that's compatible with multiple types of motherboards (specifically Asus Z97-K and MSI Z370-A Pro). I'm wanting to be able to use 2 Blackmagic Ultrastudio Minis. I've been using my MBP for them but it's struggling... badly. So let's attach it to the beefy Xeon PCs.

I'm looking for a good USB PCI-E Expansion Card and was wondering if anyone here could recommend a good one. There are so many options and I'd rather get a good one now. I hear that the chipset is the way to tell a good one from a bad one.

I am looking to put together a small server for my family to store our movies on and access. I am wanting to go with a mATX side case as to minimize the footprint. But the problem is all mATX boards only have 2 sata ports and I need 10. Any suggestions to resolve this problem

So I bought the Asus Rampage VI Extreme and never thought that with a $700 board, I would run into a USB 2.0 issue. The board only has one USB 2.0 9pin header and I have 6 devices that need a internal header. I thought I had solved my problem by getting 2 ‘NZXT Internal USB Hub’ and dasie chaining then. I then bought the ‘ASUS ROG Front Base’ which needs to be plugged into the ROG EXT header AND the USB 2 header as one connector. I’ve attached a screenshot of the headers in question. Now I either have the Front Base plugged in or all my other USB devices. So I thought I’d get a USB 2 header PCIe expansion card but can’t for the life of me seem to be able to find one. This could be because it’s just such an old tech that it doesn’t exist any anymore. So my question is, does anyone know where I might find a PCIE USB 2.0 9pin header expansion card?

Hi all. When my dad got his last computer, the Ethernet didn't work so he bought an TP-Link Gigabit PCI Network Adapter to connect to the internet. Recently, he bought a new PC and the on-board Ethernet worked so I got his Ethernet card to share the connection from my PC. I have set it up to share my internet connection with the card but it lags like hell when I use the connection on my laptop turn off WiFi on it. I have been researching the difference between an Ethernet Hub and an Ethernet Switch as I will be getting another computer that will not have wireless that will need to have constant internet access. On most of the switches I have seen on eBay Australia, they all advertise as having 5 ports for expansion but they don't have an Ethernet In port, just 5 out ports. Here is the one I am thinking of buying. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TP-Link-5-Port-10-100-1000Mb-Gigabit-Ethernet-Desktop-Switch-Hubs-for-PC-Laptop-/271398046344?hash=item3f30958a88:g:iqcAAMXQzH9SEtPh Thanks, Alpha.

Can I plug my WiFi/Bluetooth expansion card into my PCIe x16 slot? The reason is that my case has some funky covers for the PCI slots and one of them is removal with a thumb screw where as the other three either need to bent or broken off in order to put something in a slot. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!
