My PC has a problem & i.e. it shuts down perfectly 90% of the time, but in that 10% of time pc turns off just leaving the cpu fan spinning, mobo light blinking, ssd light not blinking, rgb of mouse and keyboard turned off. And also, I have tried everything in these 4 articles, but nothing works. https://computerinfobits.com/pc-sleep-mode-fans-still-running/ https://support.cyberpowerpc.com/hc/en-us/articles/360014707273-After-computer-shut-down-fans-and-lights-are-still-on-and-running https://superuser.com/questions/1180619/pc-fans-keep-spinning-after-shutdown https://windowsreport.com/cpu-fan-not-spinning/

UPDATE - I have bought the Corsair RM 750 power supply and installed it after a bit of fiddling around with the cables - and it works now! Everything works flawlessly once again! --------------------------------------------------- So... Just a few minutes ago, i was casually playing Team fortress 2, when my PC turned off without any warning. In my fuse box, the breaker for the outlets of my living room were down, off. After a call with my somewhat tech savvy brother, he and I tested around on the socket and... Everything worked, except for my Computer. Now, the power supply I used in my PC was an old 600 watt LC Power PSU. I have.. no idea how old it was. But all i know now is that my PC won't turn on, and I'm very stressed out about it now. How will I do home office now? How will I game? More important, what the hell do I do now? Like.. how do I know that my components aren't fried? As soon as I have money I'll get a new power supply that actually is reliable.. but what do you guys think? Anything I should do? Thank you.

THIS WILL BE A QUITE LONG...BUT IT IS AN EMERGENCY AND I CANNOT BUY NEW PARTS WITH THE CURRENT LOCKDOWN IN MY REGION I recently overclocked my really old pc with a i3-540 and a INTEL dhc-55tc mobo (i dont have a graphics card) I considered that my pc was stable at 4.2GHZ (stock 3.07ghz) after running a stress test for 7 hours and did not crash and the temps were around 80C at 100% usage the whole 7 hours of the stress test...so i decided to push it further...a little by little with my mobo i was only able to adjust the BASE CLOCK FREQUENCY (stock is 133mhz...changed that to 183mhz to get 4.2ghz) and the worse part is changing the base clock freq. of my CPU also changes the base clock of my RAM(both my cpu and ram have same BCLKs 133mhz) and my RAM is not able to get speeds more than 1400mhz (4GB DDR3 1333MHZ) . But my mobo allowed the multiplier and voltage control for my ram alone...so i decided to reduce the multiplier of the ram to have its speed under 1400mhz.. now after doing the 4.2ghz of the cpu and setting my ram's multiplier to 8 (STOCK IS 10) my pc was stable with a cinebench R23 score around 2100 i decided to push it further and increased my BCLK value from 183 to 184 and then saved it...here is where my pc got bricked I suppose....my pc just turned off right there and refuses to turn on WHAT IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING?(either one of these 3 things happen when i try to turn my pc on) 1.all the fans of my pc starts and runs for 3 seconds then stops (no posting and no beeps)(this goes on in an endless loop)(THIS HAPPENS MOST OF THE TIME)(the cpu gets warm...a little too warm for comfort of touching the cpu) 2.all the fans turn on for a while , run for a while then shuts itself down (no posting and no beeps) 3.all the fans turn on , the INTEL SCREEN WITH THE PRESS F2 TO ENTER BIOS comes then freezes (bios does not open) , stays frozen for a while the turns off (posted but froze...no beeps) WHAT I TRIED DOING ? i unplugged my ODD,HDD and all the external storages from my PC and tried these 1.I tried removing the CMOS battery ,left the pc unplugged for a day then tried to turn it on (first without the battery fitted then with the battery fitted)(tried this many times) 2.I tried removing the RAM then putting it another slot then tried to boot up 3.I tried removing the RAM totally then tried to boot up (RAM ERROR BEEP CAME) 4,I tried removing the CPU then tried to boot up (nothing happened)(i know i am DUMB) 5.there is no BIOS RESET button in my mobo none of the above worked all those capacitors in the back of the CPU look good (not blown) , no capacitors in the mobo are blown or the pins in the socket are bent , no capacitors in the socket are blown, nothing seems to look wrong in the RAM,the power box is in good condition and i dont have a GRAPHICS CARD what can i do to make it alright again? EDIT : I DISCHARGED THE PC BY REMOVING THE CMOS BATTERY AND UNPLUGGING IT AND LEAVING IT FOR A DAY UNPLUGGED THAT DID NOT SEEM TO HELP IN ANY WAY

Hello! I was browsing the internet on my Dell Latitude 3550 when all of a sudden, I got BSOD and UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTION. I let windows do its thing, and eventually restarted, but this time giving me BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO. So my laptop pulls up Dell SupportAssist, and out comes "Hard Drive not installed." So i check if the connections are in place, reconnect everything, and restart, and it turns out to be a hard drive failure. I called DataSavers, and they estimate a range of $700-$2700, depending on what they find when I send it in. So, I decided to try investigating to see if I can fix this WITHOUT spending 700-2700 dollars. When I took off the PCB of my hard drive, I looked and saw these few contact pads and seemed to be scratched away, and am wondering if this is the cause of my drive not working. If this is the case, I am hoping i can just buy a replacement PCB and avoid the costly data recovery. My hard drive is a Seagate Momentus 500GB that came from a old build of mine, so I just swapped out the original laptop drive since i didnt want to transfer everything over. The laptop has been working fine for the past 6 months until now, where my hard drive stopped working.

I'm currently working on a project that's similar to how reality shows would shoot footage. It was extremely unorganized and a massive mess. I came after the fact so I've been helping them get their shit together. I had them get 4x 8TB G-Drives so we could properly catalog and back everything up. We had our old drives labeled 1-4. G-Drives labeled A, B, A1, B1. My plan was to alternate hard drives to sort of kill two birds with one stone. I wasn't the only one copying files though, Each G-Drive is supposed to have 4 folders labeled 1-4 analogous to each older HDD. These fuckin chineses once again screwed some things up and it's practically a mess again. TL;DR I tried to help, they fucked it up further, and now I have to fix another problem. No, they didn't get RAID drives like they should've. No, files aren't even done being copied over yet. What I need is a program that will look at HDD A, and then somehow find the files in HDD B and reorganize them like they are in HDD A. Also find missing files that are on HDD A, but aren't on HDD B. I'm hoping there's an all-in-one, but ideally I'd also like to be able to check for inconsistencies such as duplicate files in HDD A and allow me to pick and choose what to keep. If not, that's fine. Just to state hopefully obvious things, since there is so much footage, we don't have time to just copy everything from HDD 1-4 and copy them to A, then copy A to B. It should be able to recognize what's there, and reorganize everything without having to actually copy anything, it's simply file structure inconsistencies I believe.

Hey Guys first time posting on the forums, didnt know where else to go, It apears one of my 2 drives currently shoved in my computer is on the verge of failing as it has started making a consistent buzzing noise so I need to sort out an emergency storage upgrade. untill then ive got my computer off, but i need it going again asap, it has been acting as my server that contains a lot of valuable data as well as my gaming machine. I needed some advice for my storage upgrade keep in mind I am reasonable price constricted. I was thinking of setting up some sort of RAID configuration so I dont have to deal with this kind of stress again. Probably something like RAID 5. If I were to go this route, is it better to go for buying a hardware raid card or software raid? if I start out with software can I upgrade to a hardware raid controller later, without wiping the drives, to get a performance benifit? Also is it better to go for a dedicated NAS box or a hard drive enclosure, or some other route that I cant think of? Any reccomendations on hardware for me to go for? Bonus question, in the future am I able to add drives to a raid 5 without wiping the drives. Thanks for all your help

Hey guys I have the following problem. My computer which is runs on Windows 7 just shuts down. And I dont know why. It most often happens when I play Rainbow Six for a while. (Like 3-5 Locker games). Whenever the computer crashed I have turn off the power of my powerspillter. Whatever you call that. Not to forget that the CPU or GPU is not overheating. It is beeing used tensly but not overheating. Howver if it would overheat the computer shows me that the fans are not intensely used. So more cooled air would flow into the computer. I am clue less. Hope I didnt miss out on any important information. Processor: AMD FX-8350 Grafics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060-6GB Have a nice day and thank you for any help I can recieve.

So, I heard sudocrem could be used as emergency thermal paste. I decided to test it (not on a nice processor, I used my crappy Pentium G840 which I don't mind letting get to 100°C) and a bad intel Pentium 4 heatsink from 2002. Well temps at 100% load for 2 hours with good thermal compound, it was around 45°C, I didn't bother making a graph, and ambient stayed around 18°C with a strong breeze through my room. I then tried sudocrem. Yeah.... don't. It worked much better than no heatsink and better than no thermal compound, but it smelled bad and was messy. The temps got up to 52°C, so it definitly works for low heat chips. I was wondering if anybody here got the same result, or tried it. Know any other ones? After all Zinc oxide was just about the first thermal interface material, is was used along ago and still is for MOSFETS, and other FET and transistors in ciruits. Infact I have a tube of it somewhere along with silicon compound for those kinds of componets, I wonder would that work the same.

psu My AX760i just failed on me - need a replacement PSU
TheTurkishMoose posted a topic in Power Supplies
So I just built an awesome PC - the spec... i7-6700k @ 4GHZ with 4.2GHZ Boost ASUS Z170 Deluxe Motherboard 32GB Corsair Vengenance DDR4 RAM @ 3200Mhz MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X H115i Water Cooling Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD Western Digital 6TB HDD Graphite Series 780T Full Tower Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD R/W I was using a AX760i but I ran into a whole host of problems. The PSU could not manage it's own temperature leading to crashes and I was forced to set the fan speed to 100% at all times. Then the PSU failed after 12-hours with the fan speed at 100% and doesn't start at all - so I returned it! All drivers and software were up to date so I felt sure that the PSU was defected. Now I'm looking for the best replacement! I want the best quality PSU, do not care about the fan noise and want something future proof (I don't mind having more watts than I should) as I have a bit of money saved up. Any help would be much appreciated - Thanks! Moose -
Greetings, I've been travelling with my smartphone, a Xiaomi Redmi 2 (NOT water resistant!) , and it's served me well until today, when I accidentally dropped it into a bathtub. I fished it out in seconds, and the phone still worked. However, the screen began to flicker just as I got the power off. Just a minute later, I took it apart and, upon removing the battery, saw that there was a fair amount of water in the battery compartment. I have a phone to use, but it's a broken iPhone 5 with about 3 minutes of battery life that I have to keep constantly plugged into my battery pack. I won't be home for another month, and don't have access to any other electronic devices, so it goes without saying that I need to get this working as soon as possible. I was wondering if any of you had effective, quick methods to dry out the phone and restore it to working condition. However, keep in mind that I can't simply let it sit to evaporate, as I have to catch a flight in about seven hours. I'm also staying at a hotel, which means I may have access to raw rice when the kitchens open in the morning, but I'm not 100% certain I can get to it. If I can get to the rice, my initial plan was to put the phone and battery into a zip-lock bag full of raw rice and let it sit for two days. I only have access to one packet of silica gel, which is currently sitting in the battery compartment of my phone. I'm rather desperate to get this work again. I'm travelling in a foreign country on my own and communication will be key, so any help might literally be life-saving. Regards, Aereldor.

So today I accidentally got my keyboard a bit wet but not much. It was just a few drops of Coke and I immediately unplugged the keyboard and removed the keycaps in the area of the spill, turned the keyboard upside down and shook it like crazy until nothing was dripping out of it anymore. Then I took some towel paper and dried it all up. Then I plugged it in and guess what, it wouldn't power on. Then I went to uninstall Razer Synapse and all of the sudden Windows detected that something is plugged in but it couldn't recognise it. Now, I've read that you have to download a specific firmware (legacy one) but I really don't know what's the difference with legacy firmware and the others. Also, I'm really afraid of bricking my keyboard by doing this. What I have to do is run the Synapse software, then the firmware updater and when it says no device detected I have to unplug it and then plug it back in while pressing the FN key and it should work. Now, I haven't done this because of the reasons stated above. I'm afraid of bricking it and have very little knowledge kn firmware in general and I can't find any explanation on the Internet for the legacy firmware and all that. Please help as soon as possible. P.S. I'm writing this on my mobile phone so sorry for the text not being edited very well and looking nice.

Hey guys, I just recently returned from school and my PC won't turn on... I tried turning off the power supply, re plug the cable, turn it on, and nothing... I looked under my power supply to see if the fan suffocated and there was barely any dust. Then I try turning off the power bar it's outlet is connected to, and back on... Still doesn't work. Please help me out, should I open it up and check the components? My monitor works just fine. How can I check if something is broken? Is it something on their part? I've only had my PC for 3 months now... EDIT: It was working JUST fine last night. *Yes, I did check the thread in this section... Nothing helps... I haven't checked the power supply yet.*

I am torn between these three options, 1, 2, or 3. Please help me choose, my main use is gaming and this is my new computer after 5 years, so I'm very excited and nervous about making the right choice. NOTE: I already have decided on the Case, Power Supply and Operating System, so don't ask about those. (The Power supply is 1000W so good enough for any, and the case is a Define R4, which should fit anything) I PREFER IT IF YOU ANSWER LIKE THIS: x (build you think is the best 1, 2 or 3) xxxxxxxxx (Short reason why you think it's the best) THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. I have 2 days to make up my mind before ordering the parts. OPTION #1: OPTION #2: OPTION #3:
