Some background: I've been rocking my M6700 and Custom SFF AMD PC for a while now and both have always had their fair share of issues but I was really happy with the performance of them for the most part. Between my laptop's ruined battery and weird problems caused by the custom GPU and it's age (oh and the dock being trash) I decided to start searching for a new machine to be my daily laptop, I don't want to get rid of this precision but I need something I know won't just randomly die or require hours of troubleshooting. I looked around on eBay until I stumbled upon an auction about to end for a Mech-17 with the 2070 Max-P and 9750h, I was looking for anything on a good deal that met my weird requirements (listed below) and this fit just about all of them. I also decided to switch over to it completely and probably sell or trade the parts from my desktop because the laptop is just as fast if not faster in just about everything. Requirements I need for a laptop (I know it's weird but I use laptops as desktop replacements so...) The ability to hook up 2 1080p HDMI monitors and 1 1080p 144Hz Displayport monitor (+HDMI for an Oculus Rift if possible) at least 2 M.2 NVMe slots (one for the SSD and one for eGPU eventually or second SSD if I can't get the eGPU to work) 17 inch screen, I had a 15.6" laptop but much prefer the 17" ones. lots of the USB connectivity Ethernet (I use it too often) Pros Port selection Doesn't have Thunderbolt but other than that it has strong I/O even for a 17" machine, it might not have as many USBs or display outputs as my docked M6700 but it still has 2 USB 3.0 type As and 1 Type C (and 1 2.0 type A) as well as an HDMI 2.0 and 2 (Mini) Displayport 1.4. Also has gigabit ethernet and 2 audio jacks Performance My model is equipped with the 2070 Max-P, performance is almost on par with the desktop 2070 because of Eluktroboost (from what I found it's a hardware mod that allows for more power draw than stock Nvidia cards allow) Firestrike (https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/48322466) Firestrike Ultra (https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/48328939) The 9750h has a power limit (1 & 2) of 100W! which is insane but mine is having a weird spread in temps between cores (some cores are sitting at 95c while other are only in the mid 70s), mine also has liquid metal so I wonder if it has shifted off of part of the die slightly or something else. I'll probably re-apply more liquid metal at some point but for now it's fine. Features Kind of similar to port selection but it also has some nice to haves like a 144hz screen, large trackpad and mechanical keyboard (some people report mixed feelings about it but I actually really like it) and it has a numpad The screen is great, the colours are way better than my old 120hz TN equipped M6700. Sadly there is no fingerprint reader however there is a windows hello equipped camera which works really well. It can unlock within a few seconds even when I'm sitting like 3 feet from the machine while it's on the desk. Cons I don't really have that much to complain about, mine doesn't have the smaller battery with a 2.5" hdd mount but that is an option. One con I do have is the price of parts, I'm used to dell business machines where the battery is a like $30 part but I can't find the smaller battery on eBay and directly from Eluktronics it's $115+shipping so I just got a 4TB external drive for basically the same price. Other than that, their support has been really nice to my questions about parts and about the weird spread in temps. That's it for now I believe.

Reason why I'm asking this is I'm currently looking at the Sager NP8156 or the 8157. I'm supplying my own drives and OS, so I save money by leaving those two categories blank in the configuration. I travel fairly often and I attend gaming parties in my area as well, which is why I'm wanting to purchase a new laptop. However I'm also saving up for a new desktop build as well, using either Ryzen or Skylake-X as the backbone of the build. I will be retaining my Fury Nitro until Volta releases. So with that said, since I'm saving up for a new desktop build, would it be worth going for a GTX 1070 in a laptop or just go with the 1060? Going with the former will delay my new build by 6-8 months, but in return I'll get a laptop that lasts for longer. Whereas with the latter option (1060) I will be able to do my build starting in April/May, but the laptop won't last quite as long with gaming. Also, going with either GPU, would it be worth getting the IC Diamond thermal compound and the 120Hz TN G-Sync panel? Or no? Thanks in advance for the suggestions and opinions

On the other hand, XoticPC allows the buyer to give specific directions, such as having the OS install to the HDD, rather than the SSD, which Eluktronics probably doesn't offer. Though the Eluktronics laptop may cost more, I am more interested in a product that can last a lifetime and generally keep up with the rising standard of computers (aka Moore's Law), so I won't find myself buying another one anytime soon. Which laptop do you think I should get and why?

Branching out to new communities for 2020! Here's my latest gem, the MAX-17 review Eluktronics has been a brand I started using early 2017 with the P650hp6-g. It had the 7700hq and 1060. Fast Forward three years and their products have evolved quite nicely. The MAX line uses Magnesium Alloy construction. They're light and rigid. The MAX-17 is a 17" chassis weighing in a 4.7lbs. This sample is equipped with the following: i7 9750h with 100w PL1 and 2 and 60w combined with GPU load RTX 2060 w/Eluktroboost at 115w Temps are strong with mid 80's on the cpu and upped 70's on the GPU at 53dB max fan Two memory dimms available in total and Eluktronics is smart enough to sell these in dual channel (2 x 8gb 2666mhz with re-branded Crucial memory) Two m.2 slots for storage is nice too. 91Whr battery is another favorable feature of the MAX-17 Sadly the only display option at this time is the LD IPS 144Hz FHD display. 99% sRGB at 317 nits. Windows Hello vi IR camera is present but the webcam is located at the bottom of the bezel. Port selection is above average including Thunderbolt 3! Price to performance as well as power to weight ratio for its form factor will be hard to beat! If you have any questions not answered in the video that might be helpful to the community please ask them here and on the channel!

Hi all. It’s been some time that I’ve been following this laptop US company, www.eluktronics.com, they have very nice chassis (from TongFang, Tiwan) that look very sleek, muted and minimal, good specs and prices are not too bad, frequently on sales. I love them but I can’t stop thinking they look overall cheap and I have my doubts on the tech support side. I don’t want to talk ill of Chinese manufacturing but that’s just the way it is and the brand overall it’s not giving me a good impression even if my favourite youtubers talk very good of it. Doing some quick research I’ve found mostly bad reviews on the support side, but most of the time it’s only the bad things that get attention while the good most of the time don’t even get posted. I’d like to know from whoever owns the: Mech, Mag or even the new Max laptops, your personal experiences on: Tech support Common issues How long did it take to resolve your issue? Material quality Pros Cons And overall, is this brand reputable and worth it? I think this brand deserves some attention but I need to know your opinions before I can decide getting one Thanks.

Hello everybody, I am going to be getting a laptop for college. I will be studying architecture - doing a lot of 3d CAD, modeling, and rendering - as well as some gaming. I am more focused on CPU power because of rendering, and the 4900HS or 4800H way outperform anything intel offers in and out of this price bracket. I need this to last at least the 5 years of my degree, so good customer support is a big bonus. I'm pretty tech savvy but you never know. Yes I know i could get more performance and portability by building a desktop and getting a separate thin and light, but I need power on the go, and transporting a desktop to and from campus (750mi away) via shipping or plane is a hassle. My budget is $1500 usd and I have narrowed it down to 2 models, but am open to other suggestions: ROG Zephyrus g14 4900HS, 2060 MaxQ, 16Gb Ram, 1Tb SSD $1450 PROS: Lighter, slightly faster cpu, more portable, 120Hz screen, Great battery life, USB C charging CONS: People say it has problems with overheating, smaller screen, more expensive, less upgradeable, no numpad, I've heard Asus's laptops are unreliable? Eluktronics RP-15 4800H, 2060 MaxP, 16Gb Ram, 512Gb SSD $1250 PROS: Bigger screen, Cheaper, more powerful GPU (2060MaxP at 100W vs MaxQ at 35W-60W i think), more upgradeable, numpad, better IO overall CONS: Bigger & Heavier, less storage, Unknowns(battery life, durability, brand rep, etc)* (Names are links to product page) *On paper the RP-15 seems like a better laptop, but the unknowns are holding me back. There are TONS of reviews on the G14, most of them positive, but I could only find 2 on the RP-15(one from Bob of all Trades and one from Notebookcheck). I dont like buying a product, especially something this expensive, without knowing exactly what im getting. I also dont know much about Eluktronics themselves other than that they are a small reseller of Clevo and other ODMs. They seem passionate and responsive, but I didn't really find much long term information about their customer service or products. If anyone has experience with either laptop, ASUS, or Eluktronics support I'd love to hear about it Thanks!

basically my laptop's CPU temps had a ~20 degree spread with the liquid metal that it came with (it was applied by the previous owner, but the laptop did actually have an option for it from factory). So I assumed maybe he didn't do the best job applying it or it spread and wasn't properly covering all of the die, I opened it up and noticed that it looked like some of the die wasn't completely covered so I wiped off the liquid metal and applied normal paste (NT-H1, I don't have any liquid metal on hand), that did 'improve' the core to core deltas, now it's only about 10 degree but it's also 85-95 vs 75-95 so it really didn't make a difference. what's weird is in Dave Lee's review of this exact laptop (expect it's an 8750h instead of a 9750h) the temps are amazing (like combined GPU and CPU maxes out at below 70c) where as my CPU reaches 95c without the GPU being loaded, would it be worth a try to buy some liquid metal and try and do a better job applying it or what? I'm kind of lost. This is a run I just did: (yes I see the weird dip in FPS on GT1, blaming Shadowplay. Didn't bother to re-run the test because score/GT1/GT2 don't really matter for what I am trying to talk about) Screenshot from Dave Lee's review: (He ran the Demo, I didn't) but even during the physics test his CPU and GPU was around 60-65c with basically the same clock speeds on the CPUs, I just don't know what to do to try and fix this. I hope I can get the CPU to actually reach max turbo under load instead of maxing out at like 3.6GHz under a load like Cinebench, any ideas?

Greetings. I was recently trying to find the cheapest possible laptop with a GTX 1060 in it (omitting barebones laptops) and I came across this- a laptop with a GTX 1060, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, A Core i7 6700HQ, a 128GB SSD, and a 15" 1080p IPS display. https://www.amazon.com/Eluktronics-P650RP6-Premium-Gaming-Laptop/dp/B01LYOTO9B/ However, it's a bit of an ugly duckling, and I've never heard of the brand. The only things I've found are Eluktronics' own promotional videos, a few awkward reviews, and an RMA complain, all based on last-generation laptops. Does anyone here have experience with Eluktronics laptops? Has anyone even encountered them before? Regards, Aereldor.

Website can be found here: http://www.eluktronics.com/ I have a friend interested in this laptop at Amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/i7-4720HQ-Graphics-Anti-Glare-Wireless-Performance/dp/B00UNJC4TS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1428089966&sr=8-1&keywords=eluktronics+laptop+970 Has anyone ever heard of this company? I have no idea who they are, and am having difficulties finding customer reviews. Although they have an A+ BBB rating, they are only accredited as of November 2014 and their website is also kinda crappy, leading me to think they're relatively new. Thoughts?
