Workstation - Video Editing, Music Production, Digital Illustration, Animation, 3D Modelling, Unreal Engine. Other details: I finished building this pc back in June 2020, It was built for the purpose of being my university computer and since it was to be MY FIRST personal desktop and not one paid for by my parents I also decide it should look cool and perform well in modern gaming titles. I wasn't going for balls to the walls and I bought the parts individually as I could afford them, originally budgeting for £1,500 and better than Xbox One performance at 1080p High settings. I quite like my system and if I had more budget and options (newer parts are out now) I would have spent £3,000 on it so glad that didn't happen. Hello everyone I hope you are all good. So I could use some help. At the moment I'm playing on my PS5 and recording gameplay with my acer laptop using a razer ripsaw HD capture card. The laptop has an Intel i5 inside (5years old) and a nvidia 945M. And so I only can record in 720p because my laptop is already at the limit. Now I wanted to build a PC soon with the following parts: CPU: ryzen 7 5800 or Intel i7 10700K (depends on the price when I decide to order. GPU: RTX 3070 (or new radeon if better pricing) Motherboard: depending on the CPU, I'm open for tips PSU: 850W 80+Gold by corsair RAM: 32GB 3200 or 3600 corsair vengance Storage: 1TB samsung m.2 SSD + 3 TB seagate barracuda HDD Case: Corsair 4000x rgb (not 100% sure about the name) Cooling: corsair icue capellix 240mm aio + 1 extra corsair fan for the rear exhaust This is going to be a complete white build (except the Motherboard) Now the actual question: The PC is going to be used for Recording/Streaming/gaming. But at the moment I will not pay 1000$+ for an 3070 so I wanted to ask you guys if you think that if I buy an used gtx 970 for about 150$, will it be enough to record gameplay from my PS5 in 1080p? Or do you recommend any other used gpu for max 200$? I just wanted to improve the quality of the content I'm making, so I was thinking maybe at the moment I could buy an old gpu for recording and editing and when the prices are normal again I will upgrade to the 3070. My 5 year old PC decided to off itself this morning and I'm looking for an upgrade. I honestly think the PSU's the problem but I don't know if it's better to make a new PC or if I should fix it and upgrade a few parts. For a bit of context, I am currently student interning as a video editor for a media company and I'm in charge of creating and animating illustrations and text, and doing some light special effects. Because of this, I frequently use After Effects and Photoshop, and sometimes Premiere Pro. I also plan on learning Blender and AutoCAD and Fusion 360. Additionally, using Nvidia's custom resolution tool, I run my editing software at 1080p and play video games at native resolution (1366 x768). I also use RPCS3 (PS3 Emulator) quite frequently (this isn't as important as video editing, but bonus points if you take this into account). IMPORTANT: The footage I'm editing is 1080p RAW -- S Log and C Log. Additional info: if I upgrade my PC, my current mobo will only be able to support 16 GB of DDR3 RAM @ 1.6 MHz and run my CPU at 3.6 GHz. If I ever do decide to just upgrade, I'm thinking of replacing the GPU (to probably a 2070?) and adding RAM and a new cooler. I'm open to both AMD and Intel platforms, but I generally prefer Nvidia for my GPU, but if you think Radeon's better for my use case then by all means!

I edit videos in 1080p 30fps and play games is 1080p 60fps. I plan on buying in January when they have sales after Christmas. I don't plan on getting a graphics card until further down the line, so for the time being I would be using integrated graphics to game and video edit. I currently use an editor called powerdirector which can work okay off of integrated graphics and I want a processor which will work well with Davinci Resolve later down the line as I have seen that there is a feature where you can swap between integrated and gpu encoding depending on which does it better. I work in h.264 encoding. I think on the amd side my best bet would be a 5600g or a 5700g and on the intel side I'm not sure. (keep in mind I plan on waiting and getting the processor at sale price) I'm not sure whether I should get 32gb of 3600mhz dual channel ram or 4000mhz dual channel ram (I'm getting so much ram because I know davinci resolve works better with more than 16gb ram) I also don't know what motherboard to get depending on amd and intel, I need wifi as I don't have ethernet near my desk I also want at least 1 m.2 slot, 4 sata connections (for 2.5 ssd, 2x 3.5 hdd, 1 internal blu ray drive which I will get down the line) When initially starting of I will only be using a 2 tb m.2 ssd and a 1tb 2.5inch ssd. I haven't ever built before as I've only used laptops in the past. My previous pc is a used laptop with an i7 6700hq, 16gb ram, and a 980m 2gb. You might be wondering why I don't just get stuff during the black friday sales. The reason why I haven't is because my laptop just started to break down (the motherboard and gpu are going bad) and I don't want to rush in and get inferior parts. I'd rather wait and do it right.

Hi there! I'm totally new to the site of editing, but i've recently bought a Gopro hero 8 and a DJI Mavic air, to use for creating content for instagram og such. It will be smaller edits about 10 sec to 1 minut. However my old laptop Asus ultrabook Ux305c, can't run any editing software. Therefore i'm looking for a new one. I found the Asus Zenbook 14 UM433DA-pure4, with 16gb RAM + 1024 gb SSD, AMd Ryzen R7-3700U and AMD Radeon™ Vega 10 Graphics. However i can't really find any reviews or other articels that provide me with the information i'm looking for... So i wonder if anyone could tell me if this laptop would suit my needs for the editing, mainly in 2.7k and a little 4k? or do i need a more powerfull one? I don't have the biggest budget, because i'm a student.. thats why i also prefer it in 14" rather than 15.6". If you have any advice on other laptops or questions, then keep commenting!

My friend is in need of a computer to edit videos for his youtube channel, i believe he's aiming to record and render videos on it at 1080p. What would be the best selection of parts for the system. This computer doesn't need RGB as it can be added overtime. Any help would be great!

I saw that if your gpu is faster you will get faster results so now idk if you spend that much money on a Ryzen Threadripper 3960x, change it for a Ryzen 3900x and put more money on the GPU and RAM. I'm gonna be recording on BMPCC 6k raw. You can see the article of Puget Systems about the performance of Hardware Encoding. What do you guys think about the new hardware encoding? And what advice can you give me on building the 6k editing workstation? I don't have to make the purchase soon, should I wait for the new Ryzen cpus and RTX 3000 series?
