Hi. So I've been trying to recover some data off of this external USB hard drive. It’s a SONY 1TB External USB hard drive, (specs here) I would have taken this to a professional data recovery service, but the data on this HDD is more of a 'nice to have again' kind of data than something very important. So, what happened is that this HDD was plugged into an old laptop for a while, and the laptop turned out to have a lot of malware on it. (I found this later on when I was told to speed that laptop up; I ended up doing a fresh Windows install on it). When the drive was plugged into that laptop, the files could be accessed normally, but when it was taken out and plugged into another computer, it didn’t show up in file explorer anymore. I opened up disk management and it showed up as unallocated space, and prompted me to initialize the disk before it could be used. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/7031/PL55Ue.png But when it tried to initialize it in either MBR or GPT, a window opened saying 'incorrect function'. Here is what it showed: https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/2863/ZMjnYl.png I have recovered files from other drives before, and I thought it might be a corrupted MBR. The next thing I did was to open up EaseUS data recovery wizard (as I have used this before), and scan the drive. The problem is that the scan is stuck at 0% for about 14 hours, and the estimated time shows up as 2:38:00, but every 10 minutes or so, it resets and shows as 2:38:00 again, never counting down from there. I know that scanning hard drives, especially big ones for data recovery takes a long time, but it is stuck at 0%, and the timer keeps resetting. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/9629/PTYtNR.png I have verified that the EaseUS installation works by scanning a USB stick and all the deleted files show up after the scan. I even made a bootable EaseUS media with their free tool, and booting off of that and trying to scan the drive, but the same thing happens. Next, I tried to rebuild the MBR using AOMEI partition assistant, and it finished rebuilding the MBR, but still I couldn’t initialize the disk in disk management, or scan it with EaseUS. I tried converting the disk to GPT, but AOMEI partition assistant couldn’t do it, showing this error. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/7098/p0XfLD.png Also, AOMEI partition wizard freezes randomly just after opening when the drive is plugged in, but works normally when it’s not plugged in. So then I opened up the USB enclosure, and plugged the Seagate 3.5 inch drive inside directly into my PC to make sure that it wasn’t the USB controller on the enclosure that was the problem, and surely enough, it wasn’t. The same things happen, although disk management shows up a different prompt when trying to initialize it., ( showing up the error ‘data error: cyclic redundancy check’) https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/1561/h57NzD.png And also, I plugged in a working 3.5inch hard drive to the enclosure, and it showed up as it should, so the USB controller isn’t causing the problem. When the drive is plugged into a SATA port in my PC, and I try to rebuild the MBR using AOMEI partition assistant it still finished rebuilding it, but when I try to initialize the disk, it fails, and shows this error: https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/9051/CsKKos.png At this point, I have tried everything that I know of. I could just let EaseUS run and see what happens, but I doubt that will come up with any results as the timer keeps resetting. Also, the drive doesn't show any SMART status at all. After using PCTrans to transfer my apps to my new pc, there seems to be a bug were it tried to transfer my games and somehow shows an odd directory. Does anyone know what caused this?

Hey guys, so I was llo9king at copying the contents of my hard drive to my new NVMe SSD and saw that Acronis was a good way to do it for my Crucial P2. For some reason that isn't working so now i found easeUS, is it safe to use and will my contents transfer over to my ssd safely? If not is there another way I can do it?

Update: When I tried to restore to that drive it said that there wasn't enough space, any ideas? A couple of days ago I was using MalwareBytes and pc decrapifier and it must have deleted some vital os files because when I restarted and logged into windows all of my screens were black with the exception of a tiny white box in the bottom corner that had a help button but would only close. I tried everything but ended up having to clear and reformat the drive, install windows 8.1 again, and update to windows 10. Luckily i saved a backup on easeus todo backup. I can't restore it within windows because it is the os drive and partitions are different. How would I go about recovering my data?

Hey all, So, I work for an up and coming internet based studio, and we recently attended an event where we interviewed many key people in the community. Long story short, I wasn't paying attention and accidentally deleted the source video for the interviews and they were not backed up anywhere (a stupid mistake, I know). I used the EaseUS data recovery wizard in an attempt to recover the files and it technically recovered them, but I'm only able to play/use the bad interview takes (go figure ) and the rest are in some kind of corrupted state. I'm using a Windows 10 machine and the files came off of an SSD. Is there any way to go into the code with a text editor and change the directory header or what not?I've exhausted most of my knowledge and am at my wit's end. Any kind of help is appreciated.

Hi, I have had my Seagate 500Gb hard drive for about 5 years now, and recently it is getting corrupted very often (twice in 3 months). I have used programs EaseUS to see the data that is still on the drive and what i want to recover and what i don't. The second time I went to look to see what i could recover, I noticed that the original files (pre first corruption) were still there, after a complete format. Since i had restored some of those original files, they were corrupted again in the and now conflict with the originals. Which resulted in having duplicates of each file. (making it difficult to recover) (if I'm terrible at explaining things, im sorry) example: original file: K:\Files\Text.txt hard drive corrupts, i use EaseUs to see the files. recover K:\Files\Text.txt format K:\ copy Text.txt into K:\Files\Text.txt hard drive corrupts again, now with EaseUs I see K:\Files\Text.txt and K:\Files\Text_000.txt This wouldnt be such a problem but it happens to every single file that was restored, meaning games become 2x the size and sometimes just broken. (The actual question) How do i format the hard drive so that i cant see any files when i scan with a program such as EaseUs. any information on why my hard drive would corrupt so often would also be appreciated. Hello guys, just made an account for this. Apologies if I have posted this in the wrong area. I got this ancient gaming PC + monitor + headset for an absolute steal on eBay. The seller even threw in a modest 60GB SSD for free. I used this to house my Operating System and used a 1TB HDD for games etc. Unsurprisingly, that SSD became a problem and so recently I set out to fix this annoyance. Initially, I used Macrium Reflect to try and clone the OS and the boot files etc onto a new 240GB SSD but it failed on boot. I then used EaseUS Todo Backup which did it perfectly. HOWEVER, it made a partition ~60GB in size, (on the 240GB SSD; ~60GB as in the same size as the old SSD) which kind of defeats the purpose of getting a new SSD in the first place (room for updates etc). I tried to use EaseUS Partition Master but it gave the error 'System partition or Boot partition only can be set as destination'. I would have used Windows' own Disk Management tool but apparently that includes having to completely delete my (F:) drive and then expand my (C:) drive. I wasn't sure if that would cause disaster. Bottom line is I want to merge Local Disk (SSD) (F:) and Local Disk (SSD - OS Partition) (C:). Thank you in advance.

So earlier today I wiped my hard drive to start fresh again. So I wiped it using EaseUS which I found through a tutorial video on youtube. after it was fully wiped I plugged it into my PC along with my other drive which has windows on it and my drive isn't detected! (image attached) I have my windows boot drive and then my mass storage drive but the mass storage drive isn't detected. Somebody please help. It was fine and working until I wiped it and now it isn't picking up. It's receiving power because I can feel it moving when I touch it.

I've been doing some research on good back-up programs, however all of these "top 10"/"best back-up programs" seem very sketchy to me, mainly because the comments would often disagree with their list. I also noticed that Acronis True Image was on every list which strikes me as odd since my experience with their paid version (and the WD edition) was nothing but horrendous. It's been over year and their support still hasn't gotten back to me and my multiple attempts to contact them. Judging by the comment section, I don't seem to be the only one. So my question is, do you have any recommendations for back-up programs that have a good rep in the online community? Is there a reliable source where I can look at other peoples' experiences with back-up software? Price isn't a problem for me. So far EaseUS and Comodo backup seems to have a good rep. I've already tried Aomei Backupper but still prefer EaseUS and Comodo.

So I recently got my hands on a new 240gb SSD and I am trying to move my OS over to it from my 2tb HDD. To do so I downloaded the easeUS master partitioning software. My problem came when I opened the "Migrate OS" wizard, it says that my 240 gig SSD is too small. Windows 10 takes up about 20 gigs so I'm pretty stuck here and can't figure out this problem. First, I am a technician myself. Secondly I have a first time dilemma I have not faced. Drive0 = 1tb Drive1= 500gb Drive1 was originally the operating system.. Drive0 was the storage device. Upon taking the said computer to a computer repair shop the tech there swaped the OS and the Data drive. So now Drive1 500gb = data storage and Drive0 1tb = Operating system. The critical part is what software or how can I recover the previous partitions which contain the data that my client wants with it already being formatted and something installed over the previous partition. I've been able to recover from a formatted partition before. but nothing was installed over it.. IE an operating system. I am troubleshooting this remotely. I am in michigan, the client is in texas area. I could use all the help possible. We are talking close to 24,000 Raw files and more....

So I accidently deleted most of my files. I used the program call "EaseUS Data Recovery" to recovered my lost files. But the problem is it does not let me open any files, all files I tried to open were corrupted. I try using other program same thing. Can someone help me? I have just purchased a brand new Samsung 850 EVO 250GB drive as my OS drive for my desktop computer, meaning to put my old SSD into my laptop. I have cloned the OS from the old to the new disk without any issues, and seeing as I did not have any Win8 install media handy I thought I would clone the OS from the laptop to the old SSD, using EaseUS. I made sure to delete files so that there would be room on the SSD. After cloning it seems that the SSD not only has the data of the old HDD, but also its "config", in windows the 120GB SSD shows up as the old 500GB HDD with all its partitions. When trying to do anything with the disk, Windows freezes, making me do a hard reset (reset button not working in this case). I have tried booting Gparted, but it would not boot for some reason, anyone know what I can do?
