Computer Build GPU: MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 12GB CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X Motherboard: ASUS Prime X670-P RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR5 64GB PSU: Corsair HX1000 (1000w) Windows 11 64bit Display: Samsung G5 3440x1440 Hello, I built a computer which has been functioning great for the past 4-5 months. However, I am now starting to see strange on-screen graphical issues. Example video: As you can see, there is a lot of strange green pixels flickering wildly. It's not just limited to Destiny 2 - it seems to happen in any game that renders 3D graphics, mainly using DX11/12. I've been working in UE5 for a while now just fine, and now I'm receiving a D3D error which won't allow me to launch it (I can launch UE4 and the same graphical issue occurs). I haven't made any changes to my PC ever since I built it; no overclocking, no tampering with any settings, just playing games and whatnot. Monitoring the GPU shows me that it is operating like it normally would, and the temperatures are normal as well. No strange sounds either, everything is running smoothly on the surface. UE5 Crash Report: Fatal error: [File:D:\build\++UE5\Sync\Engine\Source\Runtime\D3D12RHI\Private\D3D12Util.cpp] [Line: 868] CurrentQueue.Device->GetDevice()->GetDeviceRemovedReason() failed at D:\build\++UE5\Sync\Engine\Source\Runtime\D3D12RHI\Private\D3D12Submission.cpp:910 with error DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED UnrealEditor_D3D12RHI UnrealEditor_D3D12RHI UnrealEditor_D3D12RHI UnrealEditor_D3D12RHI UnrealEditor_D3D12RHI UnrealEditor_Core UnrealEditor_Core kernel32 ntdll Attempts at fixes I've taken so far; - DDU and reinstall drivers (safe mode) - Checking all connections within the PC and re-mounting the card - Replacing the PSU and power bar (thought that could be the issue, it was not) - Tampering with settings in Nvidia Control Panel (power/3d/graphics/defaults) - Undervolting (slightly alleviates the problem, but doesn't fix it outright) - Swapping GPUs; Used my previous card for testing (GTX 1080), and the graphical issues seem to disappear. However, I am still receiving D3D errors in some games. - Making games run with DX11 instead of DX12 (swapping between DX11 or DX12 changes nothing) - Uninstalling MSI Afterburner/any monitoring programs (note that I did not have any installed before this issue began to happen) - Running Malware/Virus checks (all clean) - Updating all software (BIOS, drivers, direct x12, MS C+) - Using older drivers (no changes) Screenshot of Afterburner while computer is on Idle; Screenshot during gameplay; For what it's worth, Task Manager also shows this spike whenever I open it; I've been trying to fix this problem for a few weeks now, searching all sorts of threads titled 'D3D Error' and anything related, but there hasn't been a solution that worked for me. My only hunch is that my GPU is trying to draw too much power but I can't tell why or how this only became an issue months later. I don't think it has to do with heat either, because I can boot any game (like Destiny 2, Sons of the Forest, Fall Guys, Ark, the list goes on) after leaving my computer off for days, and the issue will happen immediately. In the end, I may end up RMA'ing the 4070ti, but I wanted to see if anyone knows any solutions for me. I would be eternally grateful! Cheers.

I'm getting awful performance and low GPU usage (usually 10%-30%) while playing DX11 games. My CPU usage is also low, so I know that this is not a CPU bottleneck. My GPU & CPU temps are also not getting too hot. My GPU core clock is not rising and the GPU temps stays around 40c because it isn't doing any work. CPU temps are staying below about 75c at all times. Games running DX12, Vulkan, & OpenGL are working as expected with high GPU usage (usually 98%-99%). Heaven and Superposition both work correctly. Games that can have multiple API options such as Valheim, 7 Days To Die, and Rise Of The Tomb Raider only have this issue when running in DX11 mode. Other games that I have tried that are DX11 only have this issue such as Dirt Rally 2.0 and Star Wars Squadrons. The only DX11 game I've tried that runs properly is Jedi Fallen Order. The things I have tried include updating to the latest nvidia driver and then trying an older version from a few months ago. I tried uninstalling MSI Afterburner and Riva Statistics Tuner. I'm on the latest nvidia driver (511.23). I'm also on the latest Windows 10 update. My system is Ryzen 5800x on Asus B550f with 32GB Crucual Ballistix 3600 CL16 and Asus 1080Ti. The GPU was carried over from an old build. I built this system in August, but I just discovered the issue a couple days ago. Has anyone experienced this? I'd love some pointers for what to try next.

so its not the gpu its self its dx12 because intel iris doesnt support it. it just doesnt work right it works its just terrible i get artifacting anywhere dx is used since windows updated me sometimes like this or some times with or without color and I've done all driver updates available via intel driver assistant so what im asking is how do i downgrade back to DX11 so i can stop useing dx12 because it is not officaily supported on my hardware. so I am playing metro exodus through game pass on pc and I have been having constant crashes, to the point where its nearly unplayable. After a lot of troubleshooting I have came to the conclusion that I need to change it to DX11 from DX12 to fix it. However there is no option to do so in the game settings. How do I change it to DX11?

I know how stupid this question of mine is so let me clear a few things. I know that an old DX10 card will struggle to run DX11 games. I know there are many differences between the workings of DX10 and DX11. I know I'm being completely childish, desperate and in quite a way, stupid. Now that that's out of the way let me clear out what I want to do, I have a Nvidia GeForce GT230M which doesn't support DX11 (DX10.1 Max) but I want to run Alien: Isolation (A game that doesn't support anything prior to DX11). I've tried those YouTube "tutorials" but nothing really works for me, maybe it's Windows 10 not letting me "emulate" DX11, I'm not sure. I was wondering if there was a way to play DX11 games without getting the special DX11 effects, I'm betting that DX11 works like Nvidia PhysX, there is an "off" switch, can anyone fill me with some hope on this topic?

source: https://www.hardocp.com/article/2017/03/22/dx12_versus_dx11_gaming_performance_video_card_review/1 what was the premise behind the DX12 API? a low level platform that shifted the dependence from the CPU, draw calls what we got?! well .. we kinda' got shit! [H] did some testing: Rise of the Tomb Raider Hitman DeusEx: Mankind Divided BF1 The Division Sniper Elite 4 Ashes of the Singularity --- one thing I will say tho: The Division on DX12 has much much more faster transitions than DX11, the loading of the instances, fast traveling is very noticeable better on DX12

i recently found an old optiplex 740 with an athlon 64 x2 4800+ and ati radeon hd 3450 in which i plan to replace with a better card to game with due to potential hardware dammage on the card. im looking for a cheap but at least semi powerful card that will support DirectX 11 or 12 and lower.

Note to Mods: I was considering putting this in the news section, but I figured it was better here since it offers data on everyone's favorite question: Will this bottleneck my graphics card? This is pleasantly surprising to find this morning. Tom's Hardware this morning posted an article showing various DX11 games and how they run across multiple cores. Or rather, they ran it with 2, 4, 6, 8, then 10 cores. These were actual cores and not threads. They gathered the frames per second and frame time as well. They also had some interviews with some developers about how they program for a multithreaded environment. Since it's an 8 page article with a bunch of stuff per page, I'll "briefly" summarize it. Their test setup: The processors were: Core i3-6320, i7-6700K, i7-6850K, i7-6900K, i7-6950X with HyperThreading turned off and clocked to 3.9GHz. The GPU used was a GTX 1080 FE. The games: Note: They tested at 1080p, 1440p, and 2160p. For the most part, these comments reflect 1080p and 1440p. 2160p is the great equalizer. Ashes of the Singularity: You definitely need at least four cores, but there were incremental improvements at 8 and 10. Battlefield 4: Two cores offer enough performance, but frame time variance suffers a lot. Adding more than 4 cores doesn't help performance GTA V: Four cores is necessary, as two cores offers half the performance. Adding more cores does improve things but not appreiably so. Also frame frate variance suffers a lot with two cores. Hitman (2016): Four cores is necessary as two cores gets half the performance of four.. Going to six cores from four offers incremental improvements and a bit less frame time variance. Metro: Last Light Redux: Two cores can get up to 80FPS at 1080p, but four or more gets up to 140-160FPS. At 1440p, two cores gets the same 80FPS while the other cores drop down to about 100FPS. Frame time variance however is consistent (though 2 cores does have more spikes) Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor: Two cores is fine. However Tom's Hardware noticed 10-cores causes frame rate variance to be all over the place. Rise of the Tomb Raider: For some reason they didn't get two cores at 1080p, but two cores at 1440p does do respectably well (70FPS vs 90FPS for the rest of the tests). Frame time variance is pretty bad though for two cores. Project Cars: Two cores offers playable frame rates at least, but horrible frame time variance. You should have four cores for this game. The Division: Two cores can get up to 70FPS at 1080p, vs 90FPS on the other cores. Frame time variance is bad with two cores though. The Witcher 3: Two cores performs about the same at 1440p with larger variances in frame time. If you're playing at 1080p, you should get four cores. So overall summary: A lot of modern games benefit from having four cores, but getting 60FPS with two cores is possible, just with frame time variance all over the place. Note, they added a "Part 1", so either they'll test more games, or go maybe go DX12 :3

I have been having DX11 issues for a few days now, running games with DX11 would crash them after a few seconds, when they would normally run fine. It would launch, give me a "driver crash black screen" and then if I wasn't fast enough to ALT-F4 out of it, it would stay black and I'd be forced to do a hard reboot. I never ever get any sort of errors from the application or from Windows 10 OS. I had tried everything from reinstalling drivers to slightly overclocking my GPU or slightly underclocking it but nothing, NOTHING would work. Until someone told me to put my system to sleep and wake it up and then try again, and somehow this was able to make the games run with DX11 completely fine with no issues at all. Except after every reboot I have to put my system to sleep and wake it up before DX11 will function properly again.. How does this make any sense? I spoke to NVIDIA and they told me that it is an issue with my OS. I'm running Windows 10 64-bit. Any help / tips would be greatly appreciated. I am personally suspecting a BIOS issue, but I could be completely wrong and I am not sure how to properly navigate the BIOS. Thank you

So depth used to run fine on my R9 390, i upgraded to a 5700xt today and booted into depth, only to find massive lag spikes at the exact same settings, stutter, etc. My timespy score looks good, i used ddu initially, and then a second time used AMD's own cleanup utility in safe mode. But the performance is still not where it should be compared to my 390 in some games, in other games this thing sores, and in time spy it wipes the floor with my 390. Im not sure if its driver immaturity or something wrong with my system, but the only thing ive changed is the driver and gpu, no other hardware changes. Could it be possible my cpu overclock is unstable and causing these issues even though it never was a problem when running the 390? Maybe something got corrupted? Driver support for DX 9 just isnt up to par yet? etc? Hoping for other 5700 xt owners help here, maybe we share some games in common and can test back and forth see if mines performing up to snuff? I really miss my shark vs diver game man :c Ill be online checking this thread for the next hour and a bit, so any help would be great before i head off to bed and give up for the night. Fortnite seems to be the only game i played today that performed as expected with this gpu. GTA 5 stuttered and couldnt run above 60 with drops to 30 on very high settings (1080p) payday 2 ran like crap, Tower Unite had stutters and the list goes on. Thanks in advance dudes.

So this is the first time this has happened to me. If it's a common thing then I'm sorry. I opened a free game called Osu! after a week of not playing it and I got a detection problem/glitch which is annoying and distracting. At first I thought it was just glitching out but then I saw it's switching between OGL and DX10. The interesting thing is that it only happens when I record with OBS. Since I want to record it it's annoying but I have no idea what to do to stop it other that turning the overlay off(which I kinda dont want to). If anyone has any idea that would be very helpful. I'll attach a video to show it. The overlay is in the left corner. vlc-record-2018-09-24-00h43m30s-2018-09-24 00-13-01.mp4-.mp4

I am looking for a card that isn't extremely expensive, and that has DX11 support. I don't need more than 60fps (ever) and will be fine with 30-60 at not extremely low settings.

Im planning on getting a GTX 1060 (either the 3GB or 6GB one, but that doesn't really matter) and I've read that the 1060 is a DX11 card and now DX12 has come with Windows 10. I'm currently using Windows 10, so how long will DX11 last till its obsolete?

overclock Overclocking MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G
The clueless enthusiast posted a topic in Graphics Cards
Hi So I am new to GPU overclocking, I have an MSI GTX 970 and I am finding a bit more power out of my GPU would prevent me from having to consider purchasing a new one (yes I'm aware of the amount of power available in the gtx 1000 range). I am using the Heaven benchmark program to test the improvement and stability. I am using MSI afterburner to do all the overclocking on the GPU. So this is more just an information request but when I overclock the GPU to any level, when I load up Heaven and press start the display driver (so I assume the GPU itself) can instantly crash, suggesting instability, but if I try again it can run absolutely fine for hours at the same level of overclock. When Heaven completes a benchmark or is just left running there are NO artifacts (which I have read are signs of overclock limits) There isn't an exclusive number or range at which my gpu behaves in this manner- it can occur at any level above its out of the box settings and can go whole days at an oc level (I've previously experienced this instant crash) in real games with no problems. Is there any potential incompatibilities in my system which may cause this or is it as simple and straight forward as overclock instability when reaching its limit? Thanks for your help- 3 replies

simple analysis of World of Tanks API switch from DX9 to DX11
zMeul posted a topic in Graphics Cards
about a week ago, popular multiplayer team based tank shooter, WoT, got an engine upgrade that switched from a DX9 render path to DX11 I took a quick look of the performance changes gained (or lost) from this engine upgrade system specs: Intel Q9550 2.83Ghz 8GB DDR2 GTX970 G1 from GigaByte W7 x64 GeForce 365.19 drivers game settings: resolution - 1080p maximum detail preset 3D render resolution - 100% dynamic settings - off AA - off tests were conducted in the battle training tutorial - yes, I know that might not representative of actual live gameplay, but having a similar run after game patch is not possible CPU usage with DX9: CPU usage with DX11: while there is a lower usage of core 0 and 1 in DX11, the overall CPU usage across all cores is negligible: let's move the the graphics performance starting with GPU% utilization: on average, WoT's DX11 API implementation shows aprox 20% increase in GPU usage over DX9 and the most important part, framerate: DX11 render gains roughly 34 FPS average over DX9 and ~40FPS gain in minimum FPS: the solid gains in minimum FPS that DX11 render offers are quite substantial and welcomed; it makes for a much smoother play experience- 8 replies

trough some dumb luck I managed to win a Hitman STEAM code giveaway what better use for it? well, how about a versus: DX11 vs DX12 sounds really interesting, riight?! well ... not really test setup - everything stock CPU: Q9550 @2.8Ghz RAM: 8GB DDR2 Video Card: GigaByte GTX970 G1 1080p DX11 avg - 36 FPS DX12 avg - 37FPS and there's this: the game is a CPU bound scenario and with DX12 job to cut down on CPU overhead, you'd think the game would perform better .. right?! WRONG! the GPU just sits there scratching it's balls between 20-40% usage - what the shit?! and I made sure the nV CP Power Management was set to prefer maximum performance either the developer, IO Interactive, did a piss poor job of implementing DX12 render path or there is something else wrong with it or, there's nothing wrong with it and DX12 is just ... meh this is kinda' confusing since I tested, in the past, MANTLE vs DX11 and the difference was quite notable - did MS screwed DX12 with their Windows Store universal shit?! --- anyone else that has the game and wants to do some testing? maybe diff test beds will yield diff results

I have a GTX 660 and in the last couple of weeks it started making problems: the driver crashed alot and sometimes it crashed my PC without even a blue screen of death, and now it stopped supporting DX11 what should i do?

Hey guys, I was just wondering if you ran Far Cry 3 on Ultra + HDAO + Enhanced Alpha to Coverage, would it run faster on DX11 or DX9 ? For me personally ( and I found this to be quite surprising) the game runs slightly faster with DX11 (68FPS as compared to 62FPS). This was running on an HD 7970 + an FX 8320 @ 4.4Ghz. For some reason Anti Aliasing doesn't work with the DX9 Farcry3.exe so I disabled it on both benchmarks.

Anandtech has released its benchmarking results for Nvidia's new driver that's supposed to go head to head with AMD's Mantle API. And here are the results. http://www.anandtech.com/show/7926/nvidia-releases-33750-beta-driver-offers-significant-performance-improvements Notable gains in Bioshock & Metro up to 11% Notable gains in Bioshock, Metro & Grid 2 up to 9%. The jump in Rome II is due to the R331 drivers lacking SLI support for Rome which was introduced in the latest R337 drivers. These gains come up considerably short on Nvidia's previous claims.

Hello all! Not only has Microsoft said that they are improving DirectX (maybe soon 12), it's directly being improved to work very similarly to Mantle! AMD instead of being opposition, are assisting Microsoft in this undertaking. (All for Mantle, and Mantle for all! ) What do you guys think?

So i recently updated to windows 8.1, and i loved it... Until i tried playing batman arkham city. With windows 7, i had about 60 FPS, with DX11 featured off... But when i played in windows 8.1, i couldnt even access the menu, because according to fraps i was getting 1FPS. The menu's background picture kept flashing every few seconds, and it was definatly not playable. When i turned DX11 features on, the problem was solved, but i was lagging anyway, because i cannot handle DX11. (GTX 660M) so how can i play with DX11 off?
