Hey guys, I just switched from a gtx 980 to an rtx 3070. I have a dual monitor setup(One DP input, one DVI). I bought a HDMI to DVI adapter to still be able to use my older monitor as a secondary. But it seems my 3070 cannot output to it. When I check my display settings it recognizes my second monitor but tells me it "isn't active"(When I connect the monitor to my laptop with the same cable it works). Is there a fix to it or do I simply have to buy a new monitor for my new graphics card?

Hello, this is an issue I've been having with my monitor since November. My monitor tends to go black for a second and come back on at random, and I'm not sure why. The monitor could be fine for weeks or days then happen. There's no specific pattern that I've noticed. It's been happening ever since I started using HDMI and DVI (I originally only used VGA). At first I thought it was my PC's graphics card, but it also happens when my sister used the same monitor to play her PS4. I have tried switching HDMI cables, switching to DVI, switching DVI cables (I even bought a new cable a week ago) and tried different systems (Two PCs and PS4). Is there anything I can do to fix this, or is this a sign that this monitor is on its way out? I did get this from my dad's job in 2019. I'm completely out of ideas. My monitor is an Asus ProArt PA249Q if that helps. EDIT: I should also include that the issue has NEVER happened when using VGA, so maybe I could try getting a DVI to VGA converter and seeing, but still continue to respond if you have any fixes!

I know, I know, it's almostt 2022 and people are talking about VGA and DVI, ew,what the f? But hear me out, I have this very odd (at least for me) DVI-VGA adapter: Basically only 6+5 pins on the DVI side. I am really trying to find out what is this thing because everywhere I look I see these: Basically there is no info on the internet about this adapter or any DVI adapter/cable with this number of pins. Not even many pictures. So... what is it and why does it look like it is missing pins? And how does it may impact the video quality? Or am I just dumb and missing something? O_o

I found a ThinkPad USB 3 dock in storage at work, and my coworker has a T470s. Will it be possible to triple monitor using the DVI ports from the dock + HDMI from the laptop? Or will the triple monitor only go as far as laptop + 2 DVI?

So I am almost finished my build but I have to keep using my old GPU until I can get a new one, the bad thing is that it's from 2012 and a GTX 660. So my problem is is that I am only running a display port cable from the GPU to the Monitor and no HDMI or DVI cables, my question is can the DP be used as the default setting for the GPU as I can't get into the bios without using at minimum an HDMI cable, is this a 2012 thing or a software thing? Any help would be appreciated.

Hey everyone, Just wondering if 144hz on my VG245QE will work if I used a HDMI to DVI cable? Also since im here which would be better? using the HDMI to DVI cable or using a Display Port cable? Thanks for the help! Cheers

So I've recently upgraded my GPU and I don't have a DVI port on it anymore. Since I can only run 144hz on my monitor through DVI, I was wondering If I could keep my old GPU in a second PCI slot just as a video output while the primary GPU does all the work. I've tried to make it work but the pc just uses the GPU I plug the display into as the primary graphics card and puts all the load on it. A quick google search reveals that there should be a "Select preferred graphics processor" option in my Nvidia control panel but that seems to be missing. I've tried reinstalling drivers but that didn't help either Many people from other forums have recommended a Dvi to Dp/Hdmi adaptor. An active adaptor that supports 144hz will cost me over a hundred dollars and It would just be smarter for me to just buy a new monitor xP 1st GPU is an Rtx 2080 and the second GPU is a Gtx 770 if that helps. Thanks! Attached a picture of the rig just cuz I think 2 Gpus in one pc always look super awesome!

So every time I go to launch my computer it starts up the display as a DVI instead of HDMI. then after it passes the bios option screen the screen turns black for anywhere between 5 to 30 seconds changing the display to HDMI. I don't understand sense my GPU (RX 5600xt) doesn't even support DVI nor does my monitor. If someone knows a way how I can get my computer to launch in HDMI so that I don't have to wait half a minute as it tries to change the screen to HDMI, I would be very grateful.

So my second monitor needs a VGA or DP input, though I don't have any on my PC. To solve this I used a DVI to DP cable to turn the DVI signal from my PC into a DP signal. Then, when I turn the monitor on, no signal is transmitted. It displays [POWER SAVING MODE] before turning the screen black. I know the screen is getting a connection, as the display would say [NO CONNECTION] if it didn't. I tried the cable on my other monitor and It didn't work there either. It's probably not the cable, as I got it just today. So it must be something in the DVI output that's messing it up. If you have a solution or any idea for what I can do, leave a comment, and ill reply ASAP. If you would like any more information on the matter, don't be scared to reach out, I'm trying my best as well!

Hi i am new to vr. And well everytime i put my vr headset in it picks this up as mian monitor even in bios. My main monitor uses a dvi to hdmi. My vr headset is the original htc vive. No matter what i do i keep getting my desktop in the vr, even in direct display. I cannot play anything let alone see steam vr as a result. On ubuntu. Is there some 2ay to swap the display order? So it detects the dvi as main and hdmi as secondary? And by dvi i mean the rectangular port with a diagonal corner. The picture is the monitor issue. I used the options menu for refrence. Yes that is 1080p. I could disable the display in settings using work space switcher to get to corner to confirm, per os spasifically but would that make it not work with steam? That also doesnt solve the bios issue. edit 1: the disabling of display in the os makes the headset not work at all.

I have this VGA to DVI adapter, but it has fewer pins than anything I can find online. The wikipedia page has no info on this pin arrangement. Any idea what it's for? And what resolution and Hz it supports? I'm asking purepy out of curiosity, as I simply found this while going through my stash of adapters and other things.

(4070 ti, GR driver v. 528.49) I noticed an issue in colors when opening Photoshop on my Cintiq 13 While the following is what that's supposed to look: Here's 2 other examples: However, if you look at the histogram and layer panels, the colors are displaying fine in there: I have no Idea what's going on, the tablet is connected via HDMI, But it's being detected as DVI, so it's displaying a limited color gamut, however, It's still dispplaying the colors just fine in other apps like windows photos: What's going on?

Hi there! I know I'm not the first person to have problems with this setup, but I have a few guesses and wanted to ask if anyone knows about it. In the past I have used the monitor without any problems with a Dell Latitude E6230 (i5 3rd Gen; Intel HD 4000) via its HDMI socket with a connected HDMI cable and a HDMI to DVI converter. Now I have a Dell XPS 13 9350 (i5 6th Gen; Intel HD 520) and when using the HDMI connector of a noname USB C dock, I only have a black screen, but the monitor reacts during booting because it switches back and forth from "No Backlight-Black" to "Backlight-Black" and finally shows that no DVI cable is connected. The same thing happened when testing with another, relatively new laptop (i7 7th Gen; Intel HD 630). Both via the USB c-dock and via the built-in HDMI port. When testing with another monitor via DVI, there was also no picture with either laptop, but it was indicated that the frequency was not supported. However, HDMI to DVI worked fine on an older laptop (i7 4th Gen; Intel HD 4600). Except for the Dell Latitude, with which it used to run without problems, all notebooks have a native resolution of 1080p. I set a different 16:10 resolution (1280x800) (Dell monitor is 16:10) on the XPS 13 for the built-in display, but that didn't change anything The HDMI-to-DVI adapter has 24 thin and one wide pin. For the HD 520 of the XPS 13 I only had the option to chose between 59 and 60 Hertz, which also made no differrence. So I guess it's because of the different HDMI versions that support the different graphics cards of the laptops. Is this possible and does anyone know a workaround? Thanks a lot

Hey, my work gave me a machine and monitor so I can work from home, yay! But, due to space limitations in my apartment I'd much rather prefer to use my own Monitor instead of the one they gave me. The problem is, my Monitor is an 27" Acer Predator XB271HU with 2560x1440, whereas the work one is just a 24" 1920x1080 one. The hardware I got supports 1440p output via Dual Link DVI output, but does not have HDMI or DisplayPort outputs - which is the only two inputs my Monitor has unfortunately I can connect it with a standard DVI to HDMI cable to get 1080p on my 27" monitor, but it doesn't look too great - very blurry :( Does anyone know if there's any form of adapter to go from Dual Link DVI to HDMI or DisplayPort with support for 2560x1440? I only seem to find ones that are the other way around, and it seems to be non-bi-directional. And the ones that are the direction I need say they only support up to 1080p :( Any ideas? Cheers, Ari

Recently these weird green dots have appeared. I found someone who had the exact same problem and posted a picture so I'm just using that picture. They don't appear rarely, like if I haven't used my computer for about a day or so, and I've noticed they go way completely when I lower the refresh rate to 100hz from 144hz. I don't like this solution because I'd much rather 144hz for gaming and not have to use 100hz. Some people say it can be the dvi cable, others say the monitor, and some people say that the graphics card could be dying. The picture I included just shows more dots since the problem was worse for that user, I don't have that many dots that appear.

Was going through some stuff in my basement when I came across this old beast (probably wasn't but one can dream lol) and it's just been eating away at me for what it could be. I don't have a system with and agp port, so I can't exactly just gpu-z it or anything. The strangest part was the crucial sticker on the fan, which really got me curious about what this could possibly be. So I went googling just about every string of characters that was on the pcb, sticker or not, and still nothing popped up. The closest result was from when I tried on the bottom right of the front, PN 109-A034GN-00C, but that gave results that obviously weren't this card. I got desperate so I popped the cooler off, and the die was illegible. So now I turn here! To see if any of you know anything about this mystery card.

Hi. I use a small LG Monitor but has been experiencing issues. Please read the specs and info below. Company: LG Resolution: 1920x1080 Inputs: PC, DVI and HDMI (With audio socket) Current input using: DVI Other: Uses IPS LED Panel --------------------------------------------------------------- I have been using my LG Monitor for quite a while now, but I've had a few issues with DVI. Firstly, whenever I use MS Teams, most of the time, I usually see flickering blue lines on the side of each message. It can get frustrating at most of the time. My computer specs are down here. CPU: Core i5 3470 3.20GHz (I know its not the best, but its quite good for gaming.) GPU: MSI Geforce GTX 1060 3GB OC (Runs decent at ultra quality) RAM: 8.00 GB (Different brands, same amount of memory on each stick) HDD and SSD at 256GB I use HDMI for my other monitor LG 2560x1080 monitor. Please reply ASAP if you can help. Thanks CE

Hi, guys, I'm new to the forums and hope someone can help me out as I'm getting kinda desperate. I have an old LG 23ea63 monitor and I kept my ps4 hooked up to it via HDMI, and my PC - via the DVI port. The monitor has an "input" button to switch between modes, and it worked fine until I gave the console to my friend to play for a few days. I now have it back and hooked it the way it was, but now the monitor refuses to switch to the HDMI output whenever PC is on giving feed via the DVI port. Thing is, the actual HDMI connection is working fine because when the PC is shut down and it can't locate the DVI source, it switches to HDMI automatically. But whenever the PC is on and I try to switch from the DVI image (which it locates as a priority) to HDMi one, it will just blink and turn back on the DVI. Here's a video of what happens: Tried two different cables, tried, resetting the monitor settings to defaults, PS4's HDCP setting is turned off unplugging everything from the monitor, but the same issue persists. Funny thing is, when I connect my PS3 to the monitor with the same cable, it will switch to it via the "switch" button with the PC turned on, but whenever the HDMI signal is lost (when changing resolutions, for example), it automatically switches to DVI whereas it never used to before. Also, the monitor won't find any signal at all when the DVI cable isn't pluged in, even when the PS4 is switched and hooked up via HDMI, but it always used to be like that from what I remember.

Hi, I have a desktop pc with a GPU that outputs two DVI ports, one HDMI and one DisplayPort. I currently have two displays connected, one using an HDMI to DisplayPort cable going into an HDMI hub which also has an input connection from my laptop, the hub then outputs a signal via an HDMI to DVI adapter cable and connects to my display using DVI as this monitor only supports DVI and VGA Inputs. the HDMI output on my GPU goes into another HDMI hub as I have another connection from my laptop and a connection from my Xbox. this then outputs to the second monitor via an HDMI to DVI cable. This second monitor accepts DVI, VGA and Displayport inputs. I have recently found a five-year-old monitor, which only accepts DVI and VGA inputs, in my attic and have decided to use it with my setup. I have made use of one of the DVI ports on my GPU to do this. I have plugged the cable into both DVI ports of the GPU but I am not getting an image on the monitor. if I go into the windows display settings and tell it to disconnect one of my monitors then I do get an image on my third monitor. My GPU does support dual-link DVI as well. thank you in advance for any help and advice you can provide. I am thinking of upgrading my GPU to an RX 580 and I will add a link to the card: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/TTfmP6/msi-radeon-rx-580-8gb-armor-oc-video-card-rx-580-armor-8g-oc I will also add a link to my current GPU as it is listed on PCPartPicker: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/Bbg323/sapphire-video-card-100281vx2sr

Hey everyone! I ran into a problem when connecting my two monitors over different GPUs in my build. I need to do this because my USB booted linux based system does not work/recognize my dedicated GPU. So I need to switch the DVI cable everytime I want to start my normal windows based machine or switch to the linux one. Setup: I have two samsung monitors with DVI, HDMI and Displayports. I have one monitor connected with the hdmi and one with DVI for windows mode. I switch the dvi from the dedicated one to the integrated one when I want to use linux and leave the other monitor black. I also have to switch every time in the BIOS from use of IGP to DGP manually after switching the cables. It supports multimonitor setup with the use of the integrated GPU. Dedicated: GTX 1060 Motherboard: MSI Gaming 3 CPU: i5 4690 (i think) The goal is now to have a hardware or software setup that allows me to have minimal effort when switching to the linux system. Thank you for the help. I didnt find anything usefull because noone needs two monitor from different gpus if the one good one already does it. I just need it for the resolution of my linux. Which is Tails and Ubuntu btw. so a solution within linux doesnt help me.
