Hi. Firstly, sorry if this has already been asked, but I could not find anything. I bought four adapters (on Shopee) which I still have to pay for, but I noticed that they have the four extra pins. Is there any point in opting for this model rather than the DVI-D adapter, which misses the four extra pins (also, the center one is narrower)? Do the four extra pins make it any more stable or something? Thanks in advance.

So i have this problem i am currently using and 1080p 21,5 inch Asus monitor as my main display. About 2 years ago i used dual monitor setup with the exact mashine and worked fine, after that i gave my monitor to my friend and recently i bought a 19 inch philips 1366x768 resolution, so i can multitask and work with CorelDRAW and Photoshop with ease, at least that was my first toughts. So my video card has vga, dvi-d and hdmi slot. I use the vga slot with my main monitor works fine. After i try to insert another display cable doest matter hdmi or dvi into the card even without the other side of the cable hooked to a monitor the moment i insert the display cable my main monitor goest black but not in sleep mode and the pc after few minutes restarts, BUT if i leave the secondary cable in the video card it wont display any image but still doesnt let the monitor go to sleep mode so its getting some signal. Any other combination of inputs rather than only vga it wont display any image. I have tried everything except changing the video card, but i know the ports work because i used them before and now i cant for some reason. My PC specs are: Dual AMD Opterons x64 2.4ghz Sapphire Radeon r7 240 4gb 8gb of ddr2 800mhz ram HP Workstation xw9400 is the whole pc model - its fully original only the video is changed. I know its a toster but its runs fine Windows 10 and all that. Please help i am trying for 3 months now.

I've heard of pc wake issues with having two monitors with different connections to the PC. Which of these combos would be the best/have the least issues? - 1x VGA, 1x DP - 1x VGA, 1x HDMI - 1x DVI-D, 1 x HDMI - 1x DVI-D, 1x DP My graphics card has 3x DP, 1x HDMI, and 1x DVI-D. The monitor I'm looking to add has 1x DisplayPort 1.2, 1x D-sub, 1x HDMI 1.4. The current monitor only has 1x DVI-D and 1x VGA. Thanks!

Hi all. I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro laptop, which only has a MICRO Hdmi (I believe 1.4) port. I am looking to get a 144hz monitor for gaming (or even 120hz). The game I play, I can average well over 200 fps @ 1280x720 despite the gpu being an Intel HD 4400. The monitor I am looking to buy is the Acer GN246HL which has an HDMI, DVI-D & D-sub port. My question is... Is 144hz output possible with this laptop? What kind of adapter/cable would I need? I am in Canada. Thanks in advance.

I have a GPU with a DVI-D Dual Link port. I want to connect that GPU to a monitor with the same DVI-D Dual Link port. Can I use a DVI-D Single Link cable? Will there be any danger if I do so?

Short question: I want to use a DVI-D dual link connection for 75hz gaming, do ALL dvi-d ports on a motherboard/GPU allow DVI-D dual link connections? Or does my DVI-D port have to be special or something? I've seen on pictures that DVI-D dual link uses 6 more pins than a normal DVI-D cable. Thanks in advance.

I bought a GTX 1050Ti today, specifically an MSI Afterburner 4GB OC Version with Dual Fans. I brought it home super happy cause I've been waiting for an upgrade for years. Then I found out that the VGA to DVI-D converter I bought doesn't work (my monitor is an Acer V206HQL and its maximum resolution is 1600X900). My monitor keeps saying "Cable not Found". I Googled the problem and found that for the newer Nvidia cards, one needs an active converter, preferably a VGA-HDMI one. Can anyone please shed more light on this? What type of converter should I buy? I don't know if this piece of information will help but I tried using the newly bought converter with my old R7 260X 1GB and still it showed "Cable not Found". However, the 260X uses a DVI-I connector and the converter was DVI-D. I assumed that the monitor couldn't output anything because of that discrepancy but I could be wrong. Any help would be much appreciated.

Okay so this is the issue I am facing with my monitor. One uses a vga to dvi-d converter which works, the other uses a a plain old dvi-d cable. Anyway the problem is that AMD thinks the first monitor the one with the converter is using and HDMI, while the second monitor seems to have to correct information. I don't have and HDMI cable even attached to the card.

Hello, I have an Acer gn246hl, a 144 hz 1920x1080 LCD monitor. I'm looking to buy the AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 as soon as it drops on the 28th. The Vega has 4 ports, one HDMI 2.1, and three Display Ports. The issue is that my monitor only has DVI-D, VGA, and HDMI 2.0 ports. I could use HDMI, but I do not know if 2.0 supports 120hz because I've looked elsewhere and I'm getting really mixed respones. Its a big deal for me to get the 120-144hz because I've spoiled myself with the high frames using the DVI-D connector connected to my RX 580, lower frames are hard for me to play with because it feels so choppy. Another option is to use a Displayport to DVI-D connector, but they only support up to 60hz as well. Is there a third option here or is there just no way for me to get 144hz?

I have a GTX 1080ti (1hdmi and 3DP) and a benq xl2411 144hz (hdmi1.2 and dvi-D)Question: if I buy a display port to a dvi-D cable will I get 144hz on my monitor? https://www.ebay.com/itm/311840300232?rmvSB=true

hi guys ive got an old monitor, lcd 17'' bought in 2005 (with DVI-D port), right now im using it; in the next months i will probably buy a new one. i've read that gtx 1060 has G sync and RX 580 has freesync. If i buy one of these cards it will work on my monitor right(they have got dvi-d port)? and about the future monitor....if i decide to buy gtx 1060 can i still use it with a Freesync monitor? and if i buy a standard monitor (no sync) will it work with gtx 1060 or rx 580? it seems g sync monitors are more expensive than freesync and no sync monitors. lastly, what would you buy rx 580 (8gb) or gtx 1060 (6gb)? the price is almost the same. rx 580 has more ram but tests say that gtx 1060 is better with directx 11 games. any answers are really appreciated, thank you regards

Hello everyone, I bought RX 470 to see that I cannot connect the GPU to my VGA monitor. My old video card had DVI-I adaptor and I was easily connecting them to my VGA monitor. Now the things are different, my RX 470 is coming with DVI-D which is not compatible with VGA DVI-I adaptor and probably the signal as well (I heard that it uses digital signal) Basically, my old adaptor has 4 more pins while the new one have those 4 pins removed. This is the type of adaptor I need but I couldn't find it but picture of it, does it have any specific name? https://s23.postimg.org/5qzse183f/image.jpg Tried to search DVI-D to VGA or even a DVI-D to DVI-I (was thinking I could use DVI-D to DVI-I to my VGA cable) Or what else I could do? Thanks you in advance.

So I got my new Qnix QX2710LED monitor in the mail today for my new rig i am setting up (graphics card has not shown up yet). When I Plug it into the mobo DVI-D plug to run it on the iGPU for the short while till my GPU arrives this is the problem i am getting : when i use my DVI-D connector the screen shows the desktop or whatever i am currently watching and then after a few seconds turns black, like it is not getting any signal. VGA is working but i am not able to set the res to 1440p on the intel graphics menu (also do not have an HDMI cable around ) . Is there a way to fix this or do I just have to wait until my GPU gets here and be stuck with a downscaled image using the VGA System is an Asus z170-a motherboard and i5 6600k CPU with 8 gigs on Hyperx fury ddr4 at 2666 MHz. Any help appreciated

Hi guys and gals, I am currently upgrading my setup and I need more cables for my monitors, and since the I/O aren't matching my GPU (I'm getting 3 IPS 1080P monitors on sale in black friday but they only have HDMI,DVI-D and VGA) and my GPU is the Rx-480 which has 1 DVI-D, 1 HDMI and 3 DisplayPort I was wondering which brand of cables should I get my DisplayPort to HDMI or DisplayPort to DVI-D? (Im more looking at trusted cable brands but I don't want to pay those stupid expensive cables)

My monitor an Acer S191HQL with VGA and DVI-D Dual Link ports. However, the monitor came with a VGA cable and a DVI-D Single Link cable. Right now I'm using the VGA port to connect to my laptop but I'm planning to build a budget system in the future with the ZOTAC GTX 1060 Mini 6GB GDDR5 which has 3 DisplayPorts, 1 HDMI port and 1 DVI-D Dual Link port. Since the DVI-D Single Link connector has less pins than a Dual Link port, It will fit; but will it work?

Hey guys, This is my first post here, so I'm not sure if I'm posting it at the right location. I recently bought a used Dell Optiplex 9020 (i5 4670) for 80 bucks, and threw in an RX 470 for some light 1080p gaming. After some fiddling around with drivers I found out the card was used for mining. I patched the drivers and all seemed set. However, when I connect the PC to my LG 27UD88-W with a DVI-D to HDMI adapter, the monitor doesn't see it as an input. My roommates monitor as well as my TV do recognize it. I know the HDMI port on the LG is isn't faulty, since it recognizes other inputs, such as from my laptop. Does anybody know what is happening, and/or why it is happening? Can this be the result of a wrong BIOS that's flashed on the card? It seems strange to me that other monitors do recognize the input. Thanks!

Using dvi-d, my pc boots into the loading bios screen , and once starts to boot into windows, black screen/no signal-detected. However other ports like display port or HDMI works fine. It seems my dvi-d is not liking the 1920x1080 resolution, i have tried changing the cable ( dvi dual link) and it doesnt fix, i uninstalled the gpu driver and i got in to windows with dvi-d with 800x600, once i installed the driver where it automatically changes to 1920x1080, no signal detected again. Has anyone face this issue and got a solution to it? Thanks! Monitor : xl2411 GPU : Asus ROG GTX 1070ti

Hi, So my monitor took a hit after my dad tried to look at some 3D work I did for him in Unreal. (No my model was fine, his computer skills are few and temper quite short.) I am using a GTX 970 G1 Gaming. The Monitor is a Benq XL2420Z. I used a simple HDMI and panel is perfect at 60Hz. I switch back to my default DVI-D cable and the screen is blacked out. I switched in windows from 144Hz to 60 on the DVI-D link (using HDMI as input) and it works! If I go to 100hz/120hz there is pixel shifting on the left side of the screen(120hz is way worse). If I go 144HZ it is all blacked out. Is is possible to open the monitor and check the cables inside? Thanks for helping!

Hi, I'm very new to the computer building scene and this topic has been bugging me because of conflicting information on the internet and even several forums I bought a used Powercolor RX580 with only DVI-D Dual Link output and nothing else; I'm confused whether it will be capable of outputting 1080p 120 hz or 144 hz refresh rate on a monitor with HDMI input (since most monitors will have HDMI anyways) All other information has been nothing but mix and mash and I rarely see people mentioning about them using a DVI-D output, at least not unless their monitor has a DVI-D input as well

HDMI is connected to my monitor, while DVI-D to my GPU. No signal is displayed. BUT, if I connect that DVI-D cable to DVI-I port on my GPU(instead of the DVI-D port), the signal displays. Tried using this converter cable with my ps4, no signal there either. Why isn't it outputting signal via dvi-d, but is fine with dvi-i?
