I recently bought an 4080 GPU and built my PC. I notice there is no cover on the back of the GPU and fine dust that still comes in my case through the case filters, gathers on it. Is it meant to be that way? Is it ok? Is there anything I can do about it? I attached the image with the back (part that is on top) of my GPU. Thank you!

I am using a Thinkpad and recently installed a Transcend 2242 M.2 SSD which I fitted with a new heatsink. The heatsink itself is actually a 2282 NVMe one which I sawed in half to fit the 2242 SSD then I plugged it inside, booted it and installed a new Linux distro. It was working fine. However, after watching a Youtube video on copper shims, I'm suddenly worried if I hadn't cleaned my sawed-off heatsink enough and there might be a little bit of copper dust inside my laptop. What I plan to do is remove the SSD and heatsink to give it a good wash but I wonder if there is a mini vacuum cleaner suited for laptops (i.e. having non-ESD bristles) or if there is another way to suck possible dust out without having to completely take apart my laptop. Thanks.

My display is getting dusty and I would like to clean it, but if I recall correctly using water is a huge NO (I read it somewhere) So what do you use?

Im trying to get into the habit of cleaning my pc every 4-6 months and its been 5 but I dont have any compressed air so I asked my parents if I could get some or an air blower but instead they asked me if I could just use and air mattress pump, and that makes a lot of sense since it does blow air out, but I just wanted to ask first to be careful.

Hey guys, new to the forum, have a quick question. I just got my NZXT h510i today and after I got everything up and running I found this piece in one of the parts bags. I assume it to be some sort of dust filter? But I have absoultely no idea where it would go. Anyone have an idea where it goes or is it something else?

Hello everyone, I'm currently in the market for a new case and the new Phanteks Airflow cases peaked my interest, mainly because of the glowing reviews from Gamers Nexus and other YouTubers. I'm looking at the P360A in particular but it apparently doesn't have any dust filter on the front intake mesh. My PC setup is in my bedroom so dust is a concern. Owners of this case, or similar cases from Phanteks, how fast does the dust build up/how bad is it inside the case? How often would I need to be using my CompuCleaner to clear it out? If you have other case recommendations for a similar price, £70 to £80, then please leave them in the comments too Edit: as requested here's the fan layout, I'll be using the 2 included front fans and adding my own 2 exhausts to the back of the case. I've read that positive pressure is better to reduce the speed at which dust gathers inside so I'll be setting the exhausts to run at a slightly slower RPM than the intakes. Thank you

I have a question. what is a effective way to dill with dust build up and a good way to prevent it? I'm using compressed air but it doesn't seam to get it all and no mater what I do it doesn't take long for more to accumulate

Hi, it's been about 3 months since I started using my PS5. My house is quite dusty, because of the architecture, there's fall ceilings and stuff, and they're just major dust catchers. I recently cleaned it out(just the plates and fins, not the actual insides. I'm not a tinkerer and would prefer to not break anything). I cover my whole console setup,i.e. console, controller, USB drive and cables with a soft cloth. But dust still keeps getting in. Are there any ways you would suggest to keep dust out or to change the location? Please help me out.

Hello, It's my first build in over 14 years. This is the build (by far): PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/P3BCYg CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 3.7 GHz 12-Core Processor CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X73 RGB 52.44 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($219.99 @ Adorama) Motherboard: Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero ATX AM4 Motherboard ($449.99 @ Amazon) Memory: G.Skill Trident Z Neo 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory ($227.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Crucial MX500 1 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($109.97 @ Amazon) Storage: Western Digital Black SN850 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($209.99 @ Western Digital) Video Card: Asus GeForce RTX 3090 24 GB STRIX GAMING OC Video Card ($2999.99 @ Monoprice) Power Supply: Corsair RMx 1000 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($253.88 @ Amazon) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro OEM 64-bit ($139.88 @ Other World Computing) Total: $4611.68 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2021-07-05 15:15 EDT-0400 My concern is that, given my dusty environment, I don't want dust to accumulate into those components and start damaging them over months. I know of 2 ways to reduce dust - filters on all air inlets and positive air pressure in the case Both Fractal Meshify 2 AND Lian Li O11D XL have dust filters on all air inlets and I hope to manage positive air pressure with 5 (Meshify 2) / 6 (O11D XL) input fans and 4 output fans. Dust filters on O11D seem less effective as per different comments I've seen and Meshify 2's filters at least look of better quality (similar to those AC filters that are really good). I'm also ready to spend on those DEMCiflex filters for any of these cases if they can control the dust really well. I'm also open to having to clean filters / PC as frequently as required. Also, I narrowed down to these two based on thermals testing by Gamers Nexus using standardized fans. Can anyone please help me decide between the two? Thanks!

I cleaned out my PC for the first time in a while today and I noticed that on the bottom of my fans, opposite of the side facing me, there's a layer of dust caked on the blades. They're pretty stubborn and blowing air didn't really do anything. I'm not noticing my GPU being any worse than normal so can I assume that this stubborn dust is normal to some degree? I would really like to avoid cleaning that if at all possible since I know I can't take apart my GPU for that sort of thing. I assume the dust that needs to be rid of would have been blown off from the duster? Thoughts?

I've ordered a 3080 a while back and I'm waiting for it like many of you. I'm planning to retire my old Thermaltake PC case. The case was very practical and had a ton of airflow, alas it was quite bulky and honestly, not that pretty. I'm looking for a new PC case, I don't really have a budget, but I don't want to go beyond 250€ this pretty much opens up all kinds of cases. One of the conditions is it must have a Full side window, with tempered glass. I also don't mind white cases, on some models I actually prefer them. RGB is a "nice to have" for me, but defenitly not a must (My current case is just blue LED's, the option to swap colors is nice to have) Currently this is what I'm looking for in a case in order: 1. Aestetics: Right now it doesn't matter how practical a case is, if I don't like the looks I won't buy it, since looks are objective i like cases like "Corsair carbide spec omega (white)" or the "Asus ROG STRIX Helios (black)" 2. Airflow: Less important to me now (I live in a much cooler country then I did when I bought my thermaltake) however any case that makes it impossible for fans to move air (IE tempered glass fronts) are a big no. 3. Removable dust filters: Yea I'm a lazy person, and for that reason I love magnetic dust filters Current cases I'm currently interested in: - Sharkoon Elite Shark CA200M/CA300T: Like the look and feel of these cases but there are hardly any reviews on these models - Asus TUF GT501: I like the look of this case, especially in white, however at it's price point I ask myself if there are better alternatives - Asus ROG STRIX helios: This one would pair well my my STRIX mobo, I love the look, but I feel like the front panel restricts airflow, and LED fans would probably upset the lighting on the Glass Cases I'm no longer interested in: - Corsair carbide spec omega: To me an amazing looking case, however airflow is an issue with nearly no mesh for air to pass through - Corsair Graphite 780T: This is a great case, but the plastic side cover is very off putting, and the case is too "flexible" (like the thin metal flexes too much) Suggestions are really welcome

Hey, so I just got some new dust filters for my PC since a lot of dust used to enter the case, but the dust filters have little to no effect to prevent dust entering the PC, I have to clean my PC every single day due to this, and within no time there's so much dust accumulated on the PSU shroud. Case: Phanteks P300 Eclipse Fan Config: 2 x 120mm Intake (Front) (With Dust Filters) 1 x 120mm Exhaust (Top) 1 x 120mm Exhaust (Rear) Thanks in advance! Edit: Typo Edit 2: Added Images

In the vents of my laptop I can clearly see a lot of dust, and it overheats, I don't want to open it because it's about 9 years old and the screws are rusted. Is it safe to use a vacuum? Using compressed air on the vents will only push the dust further inwards. I don't think that the vacuum can cause static just by using it on the vents. Thanks in advance.

hey guys, i live in a hot and very dusty place and i dont have enough money to buy a new aio or liquid cooler and due to dust i couldn't run it in open air too , so i decided to mosquito net my pc opening so that it will get good air flow! so what do you guys think about this? anyone else tried to do anything similar ,or is there any other better way to do this?

I'm facing a bit of a conundrum, because I just can't seem to cross the T when it comes to airflow with the Dark Base Pro 900 in an inverted layout. The issue is that the air comes in, flows a bunch over the socket area (and the through the CPU cooler) and to a lesser degree the PCIe slots (and to the GPU cooler). The problem is that there just isn't enough airflow to the PCIe slots. There's a filtered intake on the front (two 140mm fans) and a filtered intake on the bottom (another two 140mm fans). This puts a bunch of pressure squarely around the CPU area. This wouldn't be an issue for the GPU if Nvidia hadn't designed GPUs that also blow directly into this area, fighting against all that pressure - especially since the other fan on the GPU - the one that exhausts outwards - will be getting bugger all airflow like this. To clarify, I am using a Founder's 3090 so it has a funky cooler. What I could do is add intakes on the top, but this isn't a filtered intake so it'll be pretty dusty. I'm also concerned that it'll struggle with the limited airflow in that spot, not to mention that the slits are optimised to exhaust air towards the back of the case, so an intake config could just recycle all the heat coming out from the rear CPU and GPU exhausts. Another solution could also omit the optical drives and add another 140mm fan in its place, but I am unfortunately one of the few people still pottering about that actually uses optical drives and CDs. If push comes to shove, I'll use an external one, but that seems a bit silly when I have two perfectly good slots in my very large case already. I could really use some creative ideas - all are welcome! P.S. This is how Be Quiet! expects it all to work in a standard ATX layout:

VID-20221015-WA0000.mp4 Windows 10 64bit Gtx 1060 6gb i5-6400 2.7ghz 500W psu Msi MB So I have a 5.3 year old pc that serves me very well, but recently like maybe a week ago maybe a week and a half every time I would boot my pc everything would be fine until I got to my desktop and then I started hear a buzzing/rattling sound from my pc. The noise disappears as soon as I shut down my pc and boot it up again. Then it's like nothing happened. Now, it's very hard for me to pinpoint where exactly this noise is coming from since it used to happen like a year ago a few times and then stopped until now, only difference is, that the first time it sounded like it was coming from the PSU and now I THINK, and emphasize on the think part, that it's coming from my GPU.... I looked at my gpu and saw a dust coat on the fans and a chunk of dust in the heat sink.. So I thought it might be the culprit behind the issue... But that was until I considered the worst.. I think (and I really hope I'm wrong) that my HDD might be failing. But the noise doesn't seem to come from there, but then again I did say that it's hard to pinpoint. And the drive itself doesn't show any symptoms of failure like slow read and write speeds, BSOD, clicking sound etc. I bought a new pc anyway unrelated to this and it should come in like 3 days, but until then, I have to know what causing this issue. Can anyone help me?

I’ve filled up the remaining ram slot I wasn’t using with more ram and bought a wifi card and installed it on a pcie x1 port. When installing it made a harsh, grind noise like sand. I suppose it was hard particles of dust since I never used those ports since I got the motherboard (5 years ago). Everything seems to be working fine but since there’s a chance that those particles are still inside the slots, will they cause any sort of insulation o overheat issues (that could result in burns ) while current goes through the connection? P.D: I cleaned the slots with two short bursts of canned air before installing but It looks like some particles stayed.

Wow, That's A Lot Of Hardware...: So about a month ago I tore my rig apart for a clean. This was during my move from the office to bedroom. I took the whole of my case apart and blasted it with an air compressor. Broke out the wet wipes too, got everything looking nice and fresh. I've got some images of the hardware laid out but nothing of the actual job. I did this within three hours so everything apart from the HDD and the GPU got taken apart. This is before I got me second 290x. Whats Next?: Many things, some stuff coming out on the main blog for upcoming builds. As well as progress with the red mod. Expecting big updates early next week now since delivery dates got pushed back. Looking for any input you might have for this project, and for the others. Thank You :)

Whats The Problem?: My initial plans for the build was to have the PSU fan downfacing so that I can rawer air in from ventelation holes in the bottom of the drawer. However since the bottom compartment will be very thin I thought it hard to get dust filters the right size. Solutions: The way I see it I could ether put a filter on the PSU fan, not ideal because there will still be dust in the bottom compartment. Alternitavly I could mount the PSU so that it drawers hot air from the drawer and get rid of the vents altogether. This would obviously cause there to be an issue with cooling the PSU but it has never really spun up before. Current case lets it draw fresh air though. Final if anyone knows any other way I could make my own dust filter for the bottom compartment vents I would love you hear it. Whats Next?: Finished the shopping list, now just waiting for money to come in. Expect updates on my other blogs; Smokey Attempts: The Red Mod and Smokey's Chronicles. I hope to have H60 290x benchmarks this weekend or early next week. Thank You :)

At first I thought it was dust, they are white and very small. I first noticed them when the occasional one would crawl across my phone screen laying in bed (pc is in my bedroom). I looked them up and google came up with like 1000 different bugs it could be. However due to them being really white and small I narrowed it down to dust mites or computer mites. After first seeing it on my phone, i looked around my PC and saw a few around the case, on it and looking in my Pc i noticed one on my CPU cooler. I looked around more seeing them on my monitor and keyboard and USB mic. I don't know how long i've had them, (had this et up for a year) or even how i didn't notice them. Don't know if they have been here the whole time and I just assumed there were dust so I didn't bat an eye to them. Also I don't know if they only a problem in my PC since I noticed them in other areas around my room So they could be coming from somewhere else but I haven't noticed them in groups so far always just the odd one by himself. Is it a summer thing since its approaching summer or what? Anyways any advice what to do would be appreciated. Are these harmful to my PC? How can I get rid of them? Where did they come from?

Hi. Can anyone suggest me that how I can get rid of dust from PC? I have Lian Li 215 case with 3x intakes (Deepcool CF120) and 3x exhaust (3x thermaltake pure 12 argb with two of them on a 240mm radiator). I just dusted the PC on 18th March after summer set in and within a few weeks its dusty again. Currently the dust seems to have settled on the PSU shroud and fans seems but clean. Should I install front fan filters? Will it be of any use? One thing to note is that this time the summer season is pretty dry when compared to other summers. Like 30-50% humidity and where I live its a bit dusty.

Hi, every time I start my PC, GPU is at max fan speed for about 5-7 second, and after that it goes back to normal fan speed. I think its some sort of dust removal or anti dust system. A while ago i booted my PC after two weeks of inactivity and it lasted for about 20-30 second. Is there any way to disable this feature or maybe its something else going on? Hello, I'l looking for a dustproof case. A quick search yielded tons of "top 10 dustproof blah blah" articles, but looking at the recommendations these cases are full of holes. (Edges and back mostly.) I would think that no amount of mesh at the intake fans is going to stop dust particles from finding their way into the case. (I have an age old Cooler Master HAF case, with holes on the sides and top. The intake has a mesh covering. Utter bullshit, the case is full of dust, as expected.) At this point this dustproof home case seems to be bullshit to me. I could go some extreme industrial grade thing, but that would be stupid for home use. My secondary objective is to build a silent PC, but that is mostly about components from what I read. But the case can help. My questions: 1. Am I wrong, do I just need a simple case with filters and make sure to build positive pressure through the meshed intakes? 2. A simple mesh is enough, or are there more serious filters? 3. Can you recommend cases? What should I look for? 4. Is this possible: dustproof case with some sound isolation with still good airflow for the not actively cooled components? Thank you!
