Hello! I'm right now looking into buying a new pair of headphones for under 200USD and so far it seems like the DT 770 Pro from Beyerdynamic is the best pair for me (though if you have any other suggestions, please leave a reply ). Now the only problem is if I should buy the 80Ohm or 250Ohm version and if I'll need an AMP or DAC? I'll only use them at my stationary computer at home. My motherboard right now is a Gigabyte Z170 Gaming K3 and my current headset is a SteelSeries Siberia 650 (so I have the SteelSeries Soundcard v2), dunno if this last written information will help though I thought that I might just write it down!

Hello people , im not very good with audio so i wanted your help to decide on a good set of headphones or a headset. I will be using these for gaming , music, movies and some amateur music production (not serious stuff). I will also connect these straight on my onboard audio which is the Realtek ALC892 Audio Codec as i dont have the budget to spend money on amps and dacs , and I dont think im gonna invest in the future more on my sound system.. My priorities are: 1.Good Bass and Low End ( I listen to alot of bassy electronic music and some hip hop stuff ) ofcourse i like my sound clarity too though , dont want them to lose too much on highs and etc. 2.Comfort (almost excluselively prefer cloth\velour earpads , hate the leather ones) 3.Soundstage I really dont care about microphone quality (if i get in the end a headset instead of headphones) as i already use a good one. I also dont care about virtual 7.1 surround or rgb or any lighting xD. Im between the: 1. beyerynamic dt 770 80 ohms (i want these the most but i want to know if the onboard audio will handle them. price:140 euros 2. beyerdynamic dt 770 32 ohms (i want to know if this version is as good as the 80 ohm soundwise , i know it has leather pads but if the sound is as good as i hear for the 80 ohm version i would buy them ) price:140 euros 3. sennheiser hd 559 price:100 euros 4. sennheiser gsp 300 price:80 euros 5. hyperx cloud pro price: 80 euros 6. steelseries arctis 3 price: 80 euros 7. sennheiser game one price: 150 euros ( i heard good things for them , i put them here as an alternative option to the first 3 options. If they are as good as i hear they say ) Now , I know that these have different prices but i if i can run the dt 770s 80ohm fine or if the 32 ohms version is as good as the 80 ohm version then im eager to pay more than the other options. From options 3 to 6 Im eaqualy happy to buy any of these,budget wise. For context ive been using on my pc for quite a long time the Roccat Syva in ear earphones which have an 32ohm impedance rating and max spl. at 1khz: 96db. And I only get them to 40 or 50% of their volume from my onboard audio ( i dont tend to blast my ears with high volumes xD) Thanks in advance , and Im really sorry for the long text nd information overload.

Hi everyone ! I'm going to buy the DT 770 Pro 80 ohms headphones and I wanted to know if it needed an amp/dac. I currently have a Behringer UMC22 for my AT 2020 XLR Microphone and I wanted to know if it was also enough for the DT 770's. If not, can someone recommend me an Amp/dac combo or not to go with them. (I don't want to be overkill since I'm not going to be upgrading anytime soon) Front of UMC22 Back of UMC22

I am looking to upgrade my audio experience. I have been doing lots of research on trying to find the perfect headphones for my needs. Quite frankly, I am severely confused. I need to prioritize comfort because I tend to wear my headphones for long sittings (anywhere from 1 to 5 hours with upwards of 3 hours being most common). However, I still want great sound quality. Recently I have been looking at the DT 770, DT 880, and the DT 990. I have seen a lot of great reviews regarding their comfort and sound. However, I do not know which pair best suits my needs. I record occasionally, however I listen to music, game and watch multimedia more often, and I would prefer to not have sound leakage in my video. When I do record my microphone is very close to my cheek. So one question I have is, how much do the 880's and 990's leak? Of course I am not going to be jamming to metal and making my ears bleed, but there still might be the occasional audio spike from the game or collaborators, who occasionally yell at the top of their lungs. I personally would prefer to have the widest sound stage possible, and I understand that crown to belong to open backed headphones, which I would love to experience. In addition I have no problem with buying the higher ohm versions. I hear that they can produce cleaner and/or tighter sound. It is my understanding that you may need an amp to power headphones with higher impedance. If an amp is needed, what specs should I look for? What is the difference between solid state and tube? Which one produces the better sound? I have seen people recommending tube amps for very high impedance (600 ohm). Is there justification for that? Since nobody answers my question on how to make a poll(no, not strawpoll pls)...... since the MMX300 is a fair bit more expensive than the dt 770 I am thinking about buying a used pair of 770 and attaching a modmic instead of buying the MMX 300s. I know that they come with a truly excellent mic but I'd just like to keep the price down a little bit. What do you think would it be better to just pay the price and get the MMX 300 or do the modmic dt 770 combo. In terms of dt 770 I also have multiple options impedance-wise. I am not really experienced but as far as I know more Ohms means tighter base but also more power needed to drive them --> amp What would you go for and why?

Heyo everyone, first time poster here. Im planning to get a Beyerdynamic DT 990, I heard it has a great sound-stage for gaming, but the only problem is, Im afraid open headphones will leak too much sound, and will go back into my ModMic. Anyone know if it will? Thanks in advance!

I'll go ahead and start out by admitting that I'm fairly new to headphones. Right now I have a pair of Shure SRH440s and a Creative X-Fi Titanium (not HD) as the sound card. I've been wanting to upgrade to a less entry-level pair of headphones and came across Beyerdynamic. They fit my price range quite well ($150-250), seem quite comfortable (very important since I'd be wearing them a lot), have good reviews, and don't look goofy as hell like some other headphones. The problem now is that I haven't a clue which pair to get (model and ohm). To make it as easy as possible, I'll try to list everything I think would help. - Preferably balanced but with strong (but not excessive) bass for games (e.g. PlanetSide 2, Red Orchestra 2, Total War games, and The Witcher 2 to give you a good idea of what types of games I play) - Good soundstage and positional accuracy - I prefer to have as little sound leakage as possible, but I'm still open to, well, open headphones for the sake of the above. Note that I also live with two dogs that enjoy barking. A lot. But I'll be keeping my current pair of closed headphones, so I could always switch to them when needed. - As comfortable as possible (apparently some of the Pro versions can clamp down quite tightly) - They would be paired with an X-Fi Titanium; no external amp or anything at the moment (feel free to recommend one ~$100 or less if it'll give that much of an improvement) The biggest thing I'm puzzled by is which ohm I should go for in my position. For the DT 990s, they'd have the be either the Pro 250 ohm version or the Premium 32 ohm version for the sake of my bank account. I'm not entirely sure if my sound card can handle the former alone, though. Pretty much everything is on the table for the 770s in terms of pricing, it seems. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
