Hello! I am looking to get a new/used camera setup, my main problem is - I am not sure on what to get. I’ve been going back and forth between DSLR’s something like a Canon 70d (definetely heard its overkill for something simple I want to do) or a Canon GL2 (although I’ve read you need to use tapes for video and it’d be easier to make it tapeless) but I don’t want to go through that hassle. I want something simple not too crazy expensive (400-900 budget), 1080p60fps, a changeable lens as I would like to buy a fisheye for it and that would record video to a SD card. So PLEASE if you know a suitable camera/body, share your knowledge as I can’t decide.

Summary In an interview with Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun, Canon's chairman & CEO Fujio Mitarai stated that the company's development and production of flagship DSLRs will wound down "within a few years." Canon's current DSLR flagship, the EOS-1DX Mark III released in 2020, will be the last flagship DSLR model. Quotes There were some news publications like Y.M. Cinema and Photo Rumors interpreted Mitarai's words to mean that Canon has officially announced the end of all of their DSLR lines. Canon has responded that the scope of Mitarai's statement is only for their flagship DSLRs. It is expected that all production of their flagship DSLR to stop within a few years, although exact dates have not been confirmed. My thoughts This is very interesting now that Canon will officially move development and production towards mirrorless systems. It was known that mirrorless would take over and that the DSLR would die sometime. I'm excited for the future to see what new mirrorless systems Canon will come out with. Sources Y.M. Just need some help for connecting a few things around. I have my PC, a Razer Seiren Mini and a DSLR Canon camera (loan from school) For a Media class, I need to make a video that shows me using an animation software with voiceover, but it will also cut to my face with voiceover. The camera has a HDMI port and a Micro USB port, so I was wondering if I can connect the Razer Seiren Mini via a Micro USB to Micro USB to the Camera and the camera to the PC, and hopefully everything will work. If not, is there any way I can do it? Its also worth noting I do not have a Capture Card. Cheers

I am planning to get a beginner DSLR for allround photo shooting, thats why I was wondering which one I should buy! I want to spend around 300€, but can stretch to abour 400 if necessary. I did some googling and watched some videos on beginner cameras, thats why I put the Nikon B600 as the cheapest and EOS 2000d as a slightly more expensive option. Do you guys have any other recommendations?

I'm a cheap college student and would like to use my Canon T3i that I already own as a webcam for Skype calls (yeah yeah I know Skype's a shit platform but I don't really have a choice and I already own the camera). There is another thread, DSLR Camera Software, that asked a similar question and the people commenting on that gave me the same info a quick google search would give me. I also don't want to use a hardware solution because it will take too long to be delivered and it costs money. So far I have tried: EOS Utility Tool - just a live previewer Canon Photo Professional - current version doesn't work with my camera (or I didn't get it to work) DigiCamControl - just a live previewer Sparkocam - Worked great but had a big ass watermark, and not one of those ignore-able water marks, like top middle of the screen all the way across water marks Is there any free software out there that isn't listed above that turns my Canon into a webcam?

Afternoon, A very exciting piece of software came out on the 28th April 2020. ¬For more on this visit this link. https://1.shortstack.com/VChq6Z I was wondering if anybody could help me because I have a 50d. Is their a way it can be coded so I can use my camera?? I would be grateful if any one could help, as needed for my work over my not so good webcam.

Hello, For days now I have been searching how to use my Nikon D5100 as a webcam since I want to start giving online courses. I could use my computers webcam, but it seems such a waste not to go for a much higher quality and use my DSLR. I have bought a HDMI cable to connect the camera to the Mac, and have installed Screenflow as the video tool. However, the Mac does not seem to find or recognize the signal from my camera. I am now at a loss ... Do I need another device between the camera and the Mac, or another video tool, or something else ...? Thanks in advance for some help and some advice! And greetings from Belgium Anne

One of my buddies is looking for a camera, he is tossing up between the Nikon D3400 and the Panasonic G7. He will be doing a lot of event photography as well as some video recording. With both cameras he will have to work off the stock kit lens provided. Preferably just provide information on which camera would be better for his use case. Feel free to ask any more questions. Thanks in advance

Can anyone find or know of a camera that can record 4k for under 300usd? I don't care if it is used or refurbished, but it can't be a action cam or point and shoot(kind've only camcorder, dslr, or mirrorless). edit: at least on par with the Sony AX33 or Panasonic G7 edit 2: just scored a Panasonic G7 for 250$!!- 13 replies

This is probably a stupid question, but if a camera has a optical viewfinder, but can't change lenses, is it still an SLR? An example camera is the Nikon P900. They don't market it as a DSLR, so I'm interested if it is one.

Hey guys! Any good cameras that shoot 1080 60fps under $300? Planning to sell my Canon T2i or trade it to something that does 1080 60fps that has the same pricepoint. Thanks!

Hello, so im nit sure if this category of question will work on this site but here goes. So i am recently very interested in photography and I was looking for an entry level dslr to buy and I found the nikon d3400 which came with 18-55mm and 70-300mm lens. Then i saw mirrorless and the sony a6000. The a6000 was a bit more and I want to know is it justifiable to pay more or is it better to go dslr for entry level photographer. Please help?!!!!

I've been trying out using Rawtherapee to edit some images today, because I took them in a situation with very poor lighting and wanted to get a little more out of them. I shot in both RAW and JPEG formats for each photo. I've noticed that if I run a JPEG through Rawtherapee with edits it comes out looking normal. However when I load in the same photo but in RAW, and make the same adjustments, then save as a JPEG, the end result is a very noisy, barely usable image. Camera is a Canon Rebel SL1, and the RAW format is .CR2. Can anyone help me out here? I know RAW is supposed to be used for superior editing, because it doesn't degrade from changes like a JPEG. What am I doing wrong?

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy my first decent camera. I'm looking for anything in the $200-400 range that can take good stills and video. I also need a pretty specific setup for it. I want to use it to record long-form lecture between 2hours and 3 hours, so I need a decent accompanying audio that suits that situation. If you can recommend me any products, peripherals, or any links to places where I can learn more about camera and camera audio recording that would be greatly appreciated.

What matters more for autofocus, the lens or the body
Guest posted a topic in Photography and Videography
This is just for knowledge . I was just reading an article the sigma 85mm f1.4 art vs canon 85mm f1.2 for fun an i came across a part where it said that sigma was much better at autofocus than the canon. I always thought it was the camera body that mattered for autofocus . Like canon's 70D-80D are famous for their dual pixel autofocus , but I'd never heard of a lens affecting the autofocus performance. Coming to the main question here, how much does a lens contribute to the autofocus ? -
hi, I was wondering if it's better to just delete all the pictures or take the pictures off a memory card or re-format it if I want to have all the space on it. Which is the proper way or better. Thanks

So I'm looking for filters to use in my camera, such as ND filters and gradients. However I have different sized lenses and don't want to buy loads of the same filters for different lenses. So I want one that can go in different sized lenses, such as something that stretches to the lens and can slot in different filters. Does anyone know of one that can adjust size to fit different lenses?

Hey guys, I have a trip planned to some local mountains, and I have a shopping list for it and future trips I want to take my camera on. I have $450 to get everything I need. I need a bag, I have the Nikon kit bag that came with my camera, but I hate it, walking in the thick woods behind my house it gets stuck on everything and I have had my 55-200 fall out of it twice after getting stuck on thorns. I was thinking about a backpack style bag any suggestion would be appreciated, I know almost nothing about camera bags. I need something I can have few lens in and a way to carry a tripod or monopod and maybe a flash. If I can't afford everything I would rather just use the bad Nikon bag over not getting something else on this list. The next thing I think I need is a tripod, something to do long exposures in the middle of the wood, and that will work in a studio environment. I was looking at this https://www.amazon.com/Manfrotto-MKCOMPACTACN-BK-Compact-Action-Tripod/dp/B00L6F16L0/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1482252283&sr=8-4&keywords=manfrotto so far any other suggestions are welcomed I don't really know any other brands, I would like something cheaper, but that will hold up well. Currently, I have an amazon basic tripod I got for like $10 and lightly breathing on it blurs everything. What kind of memory cards do people tend to trust that are cheap and work with photo and video on a D3300. Just started in photography about a year ago. Trying to decide what prime to start with, crop factor has me a bit confused. The current lenses I am looking at are the Nikon AF-S FX 50mm f/1.8G Nikon AF-S DX 35mm f/1.8G I am having a problem with the 50mm and using it on a crop body I have looked up videos and if I do have it correct then the 50mm would have the same FOV as a 75mm if I do understand how this works if not then please explain or link to a video. Most of what iI shoot so far are portraits of family, As well as tech stuff like mice keyboards and plants like the photo attached. I mostly like to shoot plants and still wildlife like flowers and leafs what other lenses would be recommended. the reasons I am considering these lenses are because they seem to be lenses that everyone can make use of. I want something that produces more bokeh than my kit lens. I have a few night shots I have tried in my living room using Christmas lights in the background and I wanted nice little balls of light but instead got just a blur, should have kept the photos, but it just wasn't what I wanted.I really like when photographer separates the subject from foreground and background with bokeh/blur. also need a way to edit RAW photos from my camera, currently using ViewNx 2 anything better that is free or cheap and/or thing to look into in the future, would like to learn one that i can import from Nikon cannon or any other brand so if i switch one day i will not have to learn a new editing software. what other stuff should I add to my list filters, any suggestion I would be happy to hear. Question about public shooting. I live in the south of the united states, and in a pretty boring small town. Not much to shoot that I fell is interesting, I feel like the few times that I have found an interesting subject in public I never have my camera with me. Since I have started photography which has been about a year my camera has only left my house once, and then I felt embarrass to leave the car with it. Did anyone else do that when you got started, I feel like I don't know the appropriate time to take my camera with me. Feels like a bad question because I shouldn't care what others think unless it is friendly criticism, but I feel like people where I live would get very mad if I tried any form of street photography or even have a camera around them. Sorry for the long post, I just really enjoy this as a hobby and finally have more money to throw at it because I have really enjoyed it lately, either this of a new 1070, and I don't really play game much anymore, trying to get away from the computer and I don't want to make big buying mistakes.

Hi guys, I'm in serious need of help I had installed Magic Lantern in an 8GB card for my Canon 600D. In a another 32GB card I was running the normal firmware. Recently, my cousin accidentally erased the ML and rendered the card useless. I carried on using the 32GB card in the camera and it worked fine with the normal firmware. I'm going to sell the camera to another person now. So I read that if I formatted the ML card and inserted it back, it would work. but it doesn't. Now the camera doesn't switch on even if I use the 32GB card Please help, I am selling this today to upgrade to another model. I need to figure out what the problem is fast.

I am a semi-professional photographer and videographer. At the moment I own a canon 70D that I use for photos and I rent a gh4 or sony a6300 when I get commercial video gigs. I think the GH5 will be the perfect crossover for doing fantastic video and photos. I'm extremely excited at the opportunity to do 4k 60fps that is what really makes me want to buy this. Is anyone else in the same boat as me on this?

I want to buy a new camera or camcorder for my GF. She has been doing photography for about 6 years with her sony a330 (parents bought it for her back in HS). She is close to finishing up her undergraduate degree and will be taking a videography class but her sony a330 does not support film. So in anticipation of her needing a a camera/camcorder for her last few classes and use after graduation, I would like to buy her one. Some of what I have been looking at: Mirror less dslr: Panasonic Gh4 Panasonic gx85 Panasonic g85 Panasonic g7 Panasonic gx8 Sony alpha a6300 Sony alpha a6500 Sony alpha a7 Sony alpha a7 II Camcorders: Canon Xf100 Sony Ax100 Canon g30 Canon XA30 Canon XC10 Canon - VIXIA HF G40 Sony HDR CX900 Sony AX53 Sony AX33 Canon - VIXIA HF G20 Panasonic - HC-VX870K 4K So I am not really trying to pick a specific device NOW ( but if you have a recommendation please share , will be buying in the next month or so), my main question is: Since her camera is so old would one of the mirror-less dslrs that I listed be drastically better (or slightly better) at stills? If so, then it would make sense to buy one with recording function and forget about camcorders? Or should she stick with the sony A330 and get a camcorder? I will be getting an aftermarket audio solution for either option Thanks to anyone reading this!!

So I'm researching some cameras and I've come across a few that could work for my needs without being too expensive but I think i need more help here. I'm really looking for a camera that will record long sessions without a problem and also be used as a Webcam. I know there are a lot of Canon and nikon DSLRs that will work with programs like digicam. But I also found a nex-7 which isn't listed. However, the nex-6 is. Has anyone gotten the 7 to work with it? Also any other recommendations for something around $300? Keep in mind I also have hdmi capture for my computer.
