I live in the UK if that makes a difference. - I would note that the UK is banning all petrol / diesel cars in 2030 and hybrids in 2035. Can I buy an electric car for this amount of money? If so, any good recommendations for a decent car? Also open to buying pre-owned if worth it.

Using a self driving program call Universe with the integration of GTA V, developers who are building self driving cars can now train it, in the world of GTA V. The program is part of the DeepDrive project, built and maintained by Craig Quiter, who works for Otto and had recently delivered over 50,000 cans of beer over 120miles (193km) using a self driving truck. To start, all they need is to purchase a copy of the game, download the Universe program, and they're all set. The program includes a demo self driving agent, where developers can try it out. It can later on be replaced with one of their own self driving agents, where they can test it to see how well it works. GTA V is used for this test is due to it's almost realistic environment and driving conditions, where it has, road signs, bikes, pedestrians, construction, and plenty of other obstacles that mirrors real life driving. This helps developers, test out their self driving cars without the need to hit the actual road. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/01/12/gta_v_open_ai_universe/ https://openai.com/blog/GTA-V-plus-Universe/

So off the back of George Hotz backing down to regulators over concerns about selling self-driivng car kits he's back. This time instead of selling the kits he plans to release the details on how to build one yourself and then provide open source software through Github in order to make it work. The new system uses a OnePlus 3 as well as a custom mounting bracket and the aforementioned software to replace your rear view mirror order to enable vehicle autonomy. Honestly I don't think the regulators will be too happy about this. His previous systems have been incredibly impressive so I'm curious to see how this new implementation will work with just one camera. Glad there are people pushing the industry forward. Ive been looking for a car game that has good car customisation, mostly because I love to upgrade things and feel the performance change and cars tend to do this well, with how they change as they get upgraded so lately or well rather for a few years now Ive been waiting for a game like Need For Speed 2 or Forza 2 to come out on pc where you could build custom cars and race them and drive them and feel how they change as you improve them but, when forza horizon was released on pc I was amped but that game came out and the handling of the cars was too arcadesh for me, I get put off when cars handle like arcade games I prefer more realistic controls but most games that have more realistic handling seem to always have no car customisation other than paint and tires, and the more arcade style racers usually are where you get the customisation now. I have played project cars alot but that game lacks something to me to keep me interested so if you guys have any suggestions on car games like a forza horizon/project cars game where I can modify and build cars while also not being too arcadish please let me know im desperate for a good car game again. Sorry for the long post and bad grammar here's a full stop.

The only reason that I can think of why she would look up and down several times when checking the time on her apple watch is maybe the gesture to turn the watch on is buggy which does happen. Otherwise, she is probably reading a notification or something like that. And the officer testimony didn't say she is touching the watch so I'm going to assume that she wasn't interacting with the watch that way. I'm not sure if I agree that this is distracted driving since they are stopped so it's not putting anyone in danger. https://9to5mac.com/2018/06/03/apple-watch-districted-driving/

Yesterday Geroge Hotz (the same guy who unlocked the first iPhone, and hacked the PS3) showed off his prototype of a self driving car add-on that costs less than $1000 and can be installed by anyone. A TLDR of the presentation, but feel free to watch the 20 minute video if you'd like: Costs $999 plus a $24/month data plan Installs in place of your rear view mirror Comma One relies on built-in car front radars and comes with a camera. Currently only supported on Hondas or Acuras with LKAS (Lane Keep Assist System) Like the Acura ILX for example More car models will follow in the future If you live in the SF Bay area you can be in their beta program and get one right now. What it can do today: Once you're on the highway in Mountain View, it will drive you all the way to the San Francisco exit without you touching the, Gas, Brake, or Steering wheel. https://techcrunch.com/2016/09/13/comma-ai-will-ship-a-999-autonomous-driving-add-on-by-the-end-of-this-year/ In addition to that Comma has been ingesting thousands of hours of driving data from ~750 users of their Dash and Chffr apps for Android and Iphone. http://comma.ai/ These apps record driving data from the user's smartphone which is then used to train the AI that is learning to drive "like humans would". I've been following their progress for a while, as well as logging 60+ hours of driving data myself and can say that Tesla has got some fresh competition that is going to be pretty cool once it becomes widely available. I have attached the two press photos of the device, plus a screen capped photo of the "front" of the device for you all to look over. This is a heavily "beta" product, so it's not quite what you'd see on the market but George seems set on shipping this by the end of the year. This was my first post in the Tech News section. Let me know how I can improve in the future. I figured given all of Luke's talk about Tesla, I figured he'd like to see this. Plus since Luke has an Acura, there is a chance he can get one in the near future to play with...

So me and my father got into this conversation a while ago, I just wanted to share this idea that fascinated me. The ultimate game in my eyes is a realistic driving/racing game where the WHOLE USA is your playground. I'm not talking like just main roads like hoghways, I'm talking EVERY road. It would be so cool to drive to my house, or go offroading at some cool trails or drifting the streets that you grew up on. The makers of the game could use lasers to scan every road like in Assetto Corsa, using cars like Google Earth with mounted lasers to get every little bump or pothole, make it as realistic as possible. But then my father and I got into the conversation of the sheer size of files. We talked about how they would split the games into different games, or possible starting off one place and have DLC whenever you want to explore a new state or section of the United States. There would be loads of customization for vehicles as well. It will probably never happen because of the time, money, and space it would take to get that much info crammed into a video game. But it would be so fucking awesome to see it actually happen. I want your guys thoughts and ideas to go off on this too, as I love to talk about stuff like this!

Well, It`s been a while since the pc release of gta v, I was overjoyed of course. There were some problems, some I could tolerate, some that were annoying. The one (and biggest) issue for me that still remain since release is the driving. For some reason gta goes bat shit insane (drop of fps, and major stuttering) when i drive at high speeds, this problem occur in both Singleplayer and Multiplayer. I don`t know if I`m the only one having this issue, but if someone has/have had this issue i would love some insight and tips to help / fix this. Setup: i5 2500k @4.8Ghz r9 290 crossfire Corsair Vengeance 16gb 1600Mhz thanks in advance for any help or tips.

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a quite a few people to join me in some races. I've made some races that my friends say are really good. - They're Rally races in sports cars, so it requires some driving skill to do well. And that's where the issue lies, the public players don't seem to know how to drive cars on dirt roads and try to full-throttle the entire race then rage quit when they keep spinning off and crashing. So I'm looking for 8-20 people (because not everyone will always be online at the same time) who are interested in playing some of these races with me and my friends. Also anyone up for doing the heists get in touch too! Send me a message on here and I'll add you on Steam. ** Edit: I'm currently at work so can't play now, but I will be online in 7 hours from time of posting. /Edit **

I don't live in Russia, so I have no idea if it is true. To reduce traffic the Russian Government has made the following grounds for a "medical condition" resulting in the loss of a drivers license: - transsexuals - compulsive thieves - anyone under four-foot 11 inches - sexual fetishes I think there is more, but new's sites, only have named the above. So after my newly (2 years ago) discovered love for cars and race gaming i have finaly decided to jump from using an xbox controller to the Logitech g27, it is arriving next week. However, how would you guys go about you're monitor setup for using a racing wheel? 3 x 1080- 22-24 inch monitors or 1 x 1440 - 27 inch monitor? I think i would personaly find the bezels of three monitors annoying, but im not sure 1 screen has a wide enough resolution (16:9). Another choice is a 21:9 but i feel like those screens aint worth the money at the moment, please disagree! Money is not the biggest of issues, but i would rather not spend too much if i dont have to! sweet spot - high end gaming! ANY opinion of advice would be extremely helpfull!

Its not surprising to see that MBs head would have such comments against Apples plan to make a car, because Apples choice is crazy. The automotive industry runs off razor thin margins and is brutally competitive in a way that Apple has never had to put up with before; getting people to spend 700 on a phone is one thing. 70,000 on a car requires a little bit more than just the badge. The industry has also been unkind to recent startups in the sector, Tesla is the only that one brute forced its way to being very relevant. What I do see is that Apple is determined to make Project Titan a thing. Either it will be a fantastic failure, or fantastic. With the amount of money they are dumping into this, with employees and engineers and everything else, they're taking it seriously so say the least. To Mercedes, since I like you guys, don't let hubris get in your way. You know the last company that questioned the ability of a PC maker to make phones? Palm. They don't exist anymore. The other company that dropped the ball on the product they themselves created? Kodak and the digital camera. Go see how well Kodak is doing. I'd be wary and take it seriously, if I were them. Apple is a company, if they wanted to, could straight up buy these automakers and enter the field that way. I'd like to think their current plan has a little more thought and care. http://spectrum.ieee.org/cars-that-think/transportation/self-driving/mercedes-chief-laughs-at-apples-rumored-selfdriving-ecar?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+IeeeSpectrum+%28IEEE+Spectrum%29

My setup: Motherboard: ASUS H971-PLUS Cpu: Intel core i3 4150 Storage: 128gb adata ssd, 1tb WD BLUE Graphics: AMD R9 270x Power supply: 600w When I play GTA V on medium-high settiings, I get around 60fps and it looks great. I never drop frames even when I am on a massive killing spree, blowing up a lot of things, etc. But when I start to drive, even very slowly I drop to around 15-25 fps. I have heard that other people have had this issue and I should just update my drivers. At this time, there doesn't seem to be any driver updates. The only reason I can think of is that GTA is on my 7200rpm hard drive and not an ssd. Thanks!

Was originally intended to post this on tech news, But Seems off-topic'ish Source (BBC) : http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-29238264 (Daily Telegraph) : http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/apple/11099066/Apples-new-iWatch-could-land-you-two-years-in-jail.html The topic arose from the discussion that using smart watch could pottentially lead to distracted driving & cause accidents, the topic was brought up on the newly released i-Watch (they waited for apple's version release to rant on it) Below is a huge quote from BBC narratives: Motorists are being warned about the dangers of using a smartwatch while driving. Accidents caused by drivers distracted by the devices would result in severe penalties, a Department for Transport (DfT) spokesman said. "If records show you were texting from said watch," the spokesman said, "you've given police enough material to be able to charge you." He added: "We are considering a number of further options to deter drivers." Smartwatches are covered by existing laws designed to stop people checking gadgets while on the move. "Using a mobile phone or any device that distracts a driver whilst driving is extremely dangerous and is already illegal," the DfT said. "We increased the fine to £100 last August for using a mobile phone whilst driving." 'Responsible message' Handheld use of a mobile phone at all while driving, whether there's an accident or not, is punishable by an on-the-spot fine and three points added to a licence. Use of a smartwatch while driving is not banned outright - but improper use could result in charges for dangerous driving careless and inconsiderate driving failure to be in proper control of the vehicle driving without due care and attention Motoring groups have called for manufacturers to play a role in raising safety awareness. the Institute of Advanced Motorists said: "It's possible that manufacturers might think it's not their responsibility to warn drivers about the dangers, but they need to be pushing the responsible message too. "Enjoy this equipment too, but use it in the right place at the right time." Waht do you guys think? Leave your thoughts & rants down below...

So I recently bought a logitech G27 racing wheel for playing gran turismo 5 on PS3. But as GT5 is PS3 only, I also want a good PC game. I like more driving simulators than racing simulators. Thanks :)
-
How easy to play is this, is it like a simulator? How often do you find yourself playing it?
-
I was looking for a Logitech G27 wheel in a couple of shops, but suddenly it seems that it is available nowhere. When I checked the Logitech website and went to the steering wheel category, it said: no products available in this category. Does anyone have any information on this? Has Logitech completely stopped making these steering wheels or is the next big product waiting to be launched?

Yes, its about time, BeamNG is on Steam Greenlight! Realy want this on Steam, im sure this is my most played 'game' in ages. I say game, as of now theres no real gameplay, but thats not to say you cant have countless hours of mindless fun! http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=227184794 Soon to be updated with new vehicles and big physics improvements, performance improvements etc. Check out the forums, the devs are pretty active, and the modding is pretty huge. A lot of really cool cars (and planes) and tracks. Since the physics is 'real', planes and helicopters fly as they would in real life, due to aerodynamics, no faking. This video explains a lot, check it out. Its not graphically that impressive, but its very CPU intensive, especially simulating multiple vehicles at once.

This is completely off topic for a tech forum (hence why it's posted in off topic), but I was wondering what kind of stupid things people have seen on the roads. The sort of thing that makes you go: Just the other day I sat at a red light, when the car next to me just decided that they'd had enough of waiting and just drove off when it was still red. I was also stuck in traffic a while ago and the guy in front of me drove up onto the pavement and drove along for about 10 car lengths before turning into his drive, nearly hitting a guy walking along on his way.
