The strangeness began when I was building the PC. First time owning a GPU like this (and reading other 6900xt experiences on the web) I started with only plugging 2x 8-pins into the GPU to test. It kept shutting down soon in the BIOS and the motherboard diagnostic VGA LED lit up. It wasn't until I asked a friend and he came over to have a look and told me to try a 3rd 8-pin cable to fill the last slot. A wave of elation came over me as a it seemed to work perfectly. Unsure if this did long-lasting damage to my GPU. 2. Temps from AMD Adrenalin (can do more extensive testing upon request but temps look fine to me) CPU Idle - 35C GPU Idle - 40C CPU Apex Legends (almost Max) - 55C GPU Apex Legends (almost Max) - 70C 3. Attempted Fixes Turning off and on BAR Turning off and on XMP Turning off C-state in BIOS Turning off Hardware Acceleration in Chrome (NB I almost always have a YT/Twitch playing on second monitor while gaming) Rejigged PSU-GPU ports, bought a new official 8-pin from Corsair Installed M27Q P driver from website - https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Monitor/M27Q-P/support#support-dl-driver FreeSync Premium on Main monitor off PBO on/off Undervolt option in Adrenalin This seems to be a fairly common issue when I google it, especially with dual monitor setups. I don't think it's a hardware issue but I could be wrong. In frustration I am turning to you for help, any advice and help is appreciated. Attached Files Event Viewer logs AMD Adrenalin logs of 2 hours of gaming on Apex and Dota 2 (max settings) Thanks in advance. EventViewer.xlsx 20231016-Apex Dota.xlsx
  2. Hi, My current setup is: - ryzen 7 3700x - 4*8Go 3600MHz G.Skill Trident Z RGB cl18 - Asrock Phantom Gaming 4 x570 - BeQuiet pure power 11 80+ Gold 600W - Saphire Pulse rx 7900 xt So I've been having troubles after buying a saphire pulse rx 7900 xt. My original build had an MSI mech rx 5700 xt, which ran fine until I started having complete system crashes with black screen (linux) or green screen (windows). So I ended up buyin this rx 7900 xt. At first I just installed new drivers and was off to playing video games, everything was fine as I was playing csgo. Then I remembered about SAM, so I looked it up, updated my bios as it was required for it and then I started playing heavier titles like GTA V or Rust. I then started having crashes of the game (discord would also crash with it), and I'd have a little pop-up from the AMD Adrenaline software saying it's a driver crash. So I started looking stuff up, completely removing gpu drivers and reinstalling them completely, disabling certain features (SAM, freesync, anti-lag), nothing was working. I even tried resetting my bios and the settings in Radeon software, but still crashing. Even though I have a slow connection I ended up deciding to reinstall windows (I still haven't tried linux but having left this PC for a year without using it and installing a new gpu requires me to tinker with it and I still haven't got the energy to do it), and after this windows reinstall, it seems to be getting worse. Now when I play the crew, I have crashes which didn't happen before. I even have all my sounds on my pc that are a roughly 33% of their usual volume while the audio from the crew is at normal volume (still haven't restarted after that so that might get fixed by a reboot). The reason I say roughly 33% is because in the windows sound settings, everything is at its normal level. So I'm at a loss at this point, I genuinely don't know what else to do except RMA the GPU but I think it might not be the GPU so I'd like some advice from people more knowledgeable than me on this subject. Thanks in advance for any help.
  3. Fullscreening Minecraft on AMD GPUs with certain driver versions, have a chance to crash your driver, or your whole system. It also has the chance to completely break your driver install. This definitely happens on AMD Adrenalin version 23.3.1 and 23.4.1. I have tested this on multiple systems with RX 6800 XT and RX 6700 XT. Some systems just crash the driver. Some systems need a driver reinstall. Some needed reseating the GPU as the GPU rejected working properly. I have reported this bug multiple times to AMD. I have commented on AMD GPU videos on YouTube. I have reported the bug on Reddit posts. This is a "hear me!" post, rather than a "help me!" one. I cannot make AMD acknowledge this bug. On Minecraft, driver 22.10.x has performance issues. driver 22.11.x has visual artifacts on certain game versions. On driver 22.5.1, performance is low but stable and with no bugs or artifacts. But the driver is so old that other games refuse to run or have issues (eg. Fortnite, Hogwarts Legacy) Certain Minecraft versions have the tendency to crash the system more, but every version does this regardless. Minecraft 1.12.2, Minecraft 1.18.3, Minecraft Beta 1.7.3 tend to crash more. I have tested every version and each crashed at least once. I am at a point to replace this GPU with an nVidia one because I'm tired of this and more. I just wanna play my games without hassle, but I don't wanna downgrade to a 12 GB VRAM. Thanks to everyone participating to this post in advance.
  4. I'd like to preface that I have used DDU multiple times whilst in safe mode to both roll back and upgrade my drivers, all to no avail. For some reason, starting around 3 weeks ago, my graphics drivers will keep crashing every other minute whenever I try to play multiple different games (World of Tanks, Hunt: Showdown, Apex Legends, and Dota 2 are the ones I have tested). There is no sort of performance degradation before the crash and the temps on my GPU and CPU look fine. To attempt to solve this issue I have tried: Using DDU to roll back my drivers to older versions such as 471.41 or 472.12 Using DDU to update my drivers to the latest version, 497.09 Taking my GPU out, giving it a good dusting (it was practically dust-free), and putting it back in Running memtest86 to see if any memory issues might be causing problems (test came back with zero errors) Disabling any sort of overclocking/system management tools like Process Lasso (I stopped overclocking well over a year ago though) Note that for DDU I have it still checked to allow Microsoft to automatically install drivers or whatever - should I set it to disable that in DDU's advanced settings? Also, for some reason, I feel like repeatedly rolling back and updating my drivers through Window's Device Manager will eventually enable me to play at least World of Tanks issue free until I restart my computer, upon which it will start crashing again. Computer specs: Windows 10 Education (Build 19044) Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super Gaming OC White AMX Ryzen 7 3700X Gigabyte X570 Aorus Pro WiFi 32GB DDR4 3600MHz RAM Corsair RMx 750W PSU Here's what one of the error messages typically looks like, they are all usually similar in that they mention graphics drivers (this one is from World of Tanks): And attached is a HWInfo log from when a crash occurs in World of Tanks. I start the logging before the game is running, then boot up the game, load into a battle, and stop the logging shortly after the game crashes. I'm all ears for any other sort of tests I can run to help diagnose this issue and provide more information for you guys, thank you so much for any help! crash.CSV
  5. Can't edit in Premiere without this error making my monitor go black and freezing my mouse and everything else until it comes back about 10 seconds later. It seems to ONLY happen in Premiere Pro, regardless if GPU playback is enabled or not. It doesn't happen with gaming so I'm confused as to why it's happening only with Premiere, I also get an error in Blender sometimes that says "CUDA Error - Failed to create CUDA context (Illegal Address) when attempting to render or preview my render. Please someone help "The description for Event ID 14 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer." Specs are Windows 10 EVGA RTX 2080 Super AMD Ryzen 9 3900x x570 Aorus Elite 32GB (2x16) G.Skill ram Corsair RMX 750x I have also tried: • Turning Digital Vibrance back to 50 on both monitors • Disabling XMP • Using DDU to remove and re-install video drivers • Installing Windows updates • Uninstalling Windows updates • Reinstalled Windows 10 64 bit completely fresh on an entirely new drive • Disabling my second monitor • Playing on a lower resolution • Modifying the registry to increase the TdrDelay setting (up to 20 seconds) • Monitored my GPU and CPU temps and there's no overheating • Turning off GSYNC (I run fixed refresh) • Turning off anti-virus • Reseating the GPU AND switching to other PCIE lane • Underclocking GPU • Uninstalling all RGB Software • Uninstalling MSI Afterburner • Uninstalling Ryzen Master • Turning off GPU LED's • Ensuring Chrome is closed when editing • Changing Windows power options to use max performance, with Link State Power Management off as well • Entering Bios and making sure CSM Supports - Enabled/Disabled (neither helped) and Storage Boot Option Control - UEFI only (someone on another forum said to do this cuz it may help) • Installing Studio Drivers (didn't help either!) I have speccy and 3DMark Firestrike results as well as HWInfo (HWinfo was running while Firestrike was) if anyone needs that to try and help me figure this out, it's attached. I just need to know if I need to RMA my card or not. I don't want to waste money if it's avoidable. HWInfo Log.CSV Reliability Monitor Report.XML
  6. Hello everyone, I have a serious issue that happening for almost 3-4 months and I couldn't manage to find any solution until now... I'm getting blue screen or a freeze at random times when I open games\applications or after shutting them down for example after I finish a game I exit to desktop, open Discord or chrome fast and then boom freeze, sometimes even when the app or game is running live again it happen randomly. The error is VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE amdkmdag.sys I will also add DXDIAG file The fastest way I have found to get the freeze and blue screen for sure is opening cinebench r20 to stress the cpu and the error will appear after first or more tries but eventually it happens. I dont why it happenes when I stress the cpu while the graphics card not under stress at all. error: ******************************************************************************* * * * Bugcheck Analysis * * * ******************************************************************************* VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (116) Attempt to reset the display driver and recover from timeout failed. 8. Hello, I'm not really sure where to begin. 2 Nights ago my GF bought us a copy of 'My Time at Portia' a new 3D Stardew valley type game. She was able to run the game just fine with no issues. GPU: GeForce GTX 780 TiCPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770k CPU OC 4.2 GHzMemory: 16 GB RAMResolution: 1920 x 1080OS: Microsoft Windows 10Monitor 1: BenQ XL2420ZMonitor 2: ASUS VS228H-PFor some reason even though I understood the game was in Early access and would crash a lot. It was dropping major frames and crashing until it finally crashed my GPU Drivers and Recovered. I continued trying to play the game but to no avail. My Monitors went black again and recovered so I decided to restart my PC as there was a windows update ready to install anyways. (Note I had updated to the Sea of Thieves Game Ready Drivers 2 days prior to this incident.)Suddenly my Drivers failed again and both of my monitors went black with no signal, no sounds coming through skype or anything. Just completely black until my pc restarted 2 minutes later. Once I reached the login screen to Windows 10 I logged in and my screens crashed again. I had to do a force restart, this time when I reached the windows 10 login screen as soon as I put in my password it Crashed again. I tried several more times until I could force a system repair and get to safe mode. From safemode with networking I uninstalled the Game, checked the Event viewer and Ran a ChkDsk and Scan. See below. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/390568275597328399/425601645959839744/unknown.pngThinking the scan worked and Chkdsk came back fine I restarted and tried to login, only to crash again.I forced a system repair screen again, and went to Guru3d and downloaded DDU. Did a clean uninstall and restart of all my GPU drivers. restarted my PC and was able to login to windows 10 without any issues using the Mobo Display. I proceeded to reinstall Geforce Experience and download the latest Drivers, but not before creating a system restore point. Once the Drivers were downloaded I ran the express install, it started installing the drivers and got about 2% into the install and my Monitors went black with No signal and crashed my pc again. Thus i couldn't login again and had to system restore.I repeated the same process with an older driver, but again it gets to 2% install on GPU drivers and just crashes my screens and computer. I tried again without my 2nd monitor running on Display Port after checking some forums and still the same issue. I even repeated the process again with both Drivers trying a Custom install with clean install and profile reset. I'm really stumped guys. Will upload a video later, but I don't know if my GPU is bricked or something else entirely is responsible. Thank you in advance.
  9. I've been trying to play the rise of the tomb raider, but one issue that kept coming up was the game freezing after a certain amount of gameplay (usually not much more than a few minutes) and spitting out an error message along the lines of "A problem has occurred with your display driver...consider turning down your settings". While I am playing on my laptop, the settings are not unreasonable for its performance (med @ 900p) as I usually got above 45 fps. After looking it up people said that a workaround was to underclock the gpu, but I was running at the stock clocks, and the gpu had no issues previously. After underclocking the gpu to 900mhz (gpu boost sits the core around 967 mhz in game), i was able to play for over an hour without a crash... TL DR, do any of you know how to play the game at stock clocks without crashes? The fps isnt too bad with the underclock, but it definitely isnt helping the experience.
  10. Hi! I've been troubleshooting this all over the internet for about 1 month now, and I'm hitting a dead end. I have a Gigabyte WindForce 3X GTX 770 2GB that I've been having some trouble with: It seems that this card can't sustain any overclock. I understand that this is a factory OC card, so I won't be able to get anything major out of it but still I'm staggered about the fact that it can't sustain a +15mhz OC in Furmark for 2 minutes (even if i crank up the voltage +0.150V) without the driver crashing. Speaking of crashes I've been experiencing the same crash in 2 games recently (Witcher 3, Rainbow Six Siege): Screen goes black (Screen losing input signal), sound distorts and the computer won't recover without a restart. This crash is rare in R6 (happens seemingly randomly), but in Witcher 3 it's consistent (in mostly during a cut scenes). It seems that under clocking the GPU by 50 mhz gets rid of this problem. So my question here is as follows: Is this a bad case of silicon lottery, or maybe my GPU is breaking down? Things that I've tried: Changing the PSU from Nexus 1000w to Corsair CXM850M (no effect) Updating the GPU's Bios (no effect) Ccleaner system cleanup and clean installing the GPU drivers (no effect) Running GPU at stock speed with various voltage offsets (no effect) My system specs: CPU/APU: AMD a10 6800k (OC 4,7 GHZ, Vcore 1.47500) Mobo: Asus F2a85-v pro PSU: Corsair CXM850M OS: Win 7 Edit: GPU temp never reaches 70 Celcius GPU power consumption 85 - 90 % under full load CPU temp never surpasses 55 Celcius
  11. I got Asus Strix 980 Ti Factory Overclocked. So the problem is every time I run a benchmark for example Heaven or any game i get a Gpu driver crash dont know why. When i lover down the Clock speeds it runs the benchmark with no problems and it is all good . I dont understand why the graphick driver keep crashing when i youse the card at the Oc Mode wich is provided by asus. Do you heave any ideas why do I get the chash and what can i do to fix this problem ? and also i heave not overclock the card myself i just youse the Asus GPU Tweek II to swich between the modes and the Oc mode is the one with the best clock speeds and crash all the time in games and benchamrks .
  12. I apologise for the length, anyway. I have a Lenovo Y580 with a Gefore GTX660M and ever since updating to Windows 10 i ran into an annoying issue. Whenever the GPU comes under load, it would run normally for about 5 minutes and the driver would then crash (and apparently recover) causing whatever was stressing it to usually fail as well. At first, this was fixed by down-clocking memory speed to match RAM speed (using Nvidia inspector). After that, what would usually happen after the GPU comes under load is-it'd run at full factory boost (no overclocking was made to core clock) until hitting about 90 degrees, when it'd throttle by about 100-150mhz, cool to about 88 degrees and stay there (which wasn't that much of an issue and delivered-at least in my books-great performance for a laptop). However today it all changed. It just outright crashes, even with memory down-clocked the driver crashes as soon as it hits 91 degrees. It doesn't matter what stresses the GPU-i used the Witcher 3, Unigine Heaven and a couple other games-it will work normally until it hits 91 degrees, when it'll crash, and i can easily reproduce a crash using the Heaven benchmark. Things i tried: updating drivers, reinstalling drivers, rolling back drivers, down-clocking VRAM to the lowest speed possible, down clocking core clock to stock speed, checking the driver profile in Nvidia inspector to make sure "Power Throttling" is enabled, enabling TDR in regedit, adjusting Nvidia control panel options to a multitude of different configs to see whether anything'd help (not at random though). Nothing. Worked. I'm this close to a format and OS reinstall just to get rid of all the software and make sure it's not software that went balls up. Please, anyone, if you know what on earth is going on, help.
  13. Hello, over the last week or so my system has afflicted with something I've never seen before. Basically while I'm playing games, or even browsing on Chrome, my system will halt for a couple seconds, then the screens will go black, and the output will flash for a second or two on my second monitor ever 7-10 seconds. I think this could be a case of the driver for the card crashing, trying to recover, but ultimately failing each time. I've tried cleaning the data from the old drivers, which I updated from about a month ago or so, with DriverCleaner, then uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers all over again. That seemed to have worked for a couple days, but now it is back. If anyone else has had this problem and has a fix for it, it would be greatly appreciated. If you're having trouble visualizing the problem I recorded a video of the problem and will be uploading the footage to youtube soon, and I will provide a link to it in the hours coming. Ultimately if nothing seems to be working I think I'll declare the card as faulty and return it to Gigabyte in exchange for a shiny new one, as I only bought this card abouts last August. Thank you for reading and your comments. [EDIT] The video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEF6QVmGph4&feature=youtu.be
  14. This is likely to be a long one, so bare with me as I feel that it's important that I share as many details as possible to fully describe the specific problem that I've got going on. I've been on a roller coaster ride of problems and solutions and I'm now at my wit's end. If you stick it out and read through to my final analysis, you'll see that after loads of effort, I will likely have to make some hardware swaps/RMA's. So, I'm having problems with my NVIDIA Graphics Driver where at seemingly random times (during times of full load and times of light internet-browsing-type loads) my display driver crashes resulting in the following message "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered." with event ID "4101" in the Windows System Event Viewer. When the crash happens, usually my screen locks up for several seconds (sometimes longer than other times but still just a few seconds usually) where I can still hear what's going on in the background and then it resumes where it was. A couple of times, I have had it where the display never actually recovers but rather just unfreezes leaving me staring at my desktop where I can still see that the application I had open is still running, my mouse moves, I can open other windows, I can hear the music/sound effects my open application, and I can't select (or alt-tab) and open the game back up - keep in mind, this particular result may just be a windows problem after the unexpected crash. So, here's a total background of my PC and what has led me to this point (feel free to skim read as this is very thorough): When I entered college in Fall of 2012 for an engineering degree, I realized after a few months that my four year-old laptop was entirely inadequate. Having grown up in an extremely rural community where outside activities thrived and inside activities (gaming) were seen as being "lazy", my computer knowledge was extremely limited to the point where I would argue today that I literally knew nothing about them. Having learned enough by early March 2013 to at least know about what I was looking for, I settled on a pre-built Dell XPS 8500 Desktop with an OEM version of Windows 8, an Intel i7 3770, an OEM GTX 660, 12GB of RAM, a 500W PSU, and a 1TB 7200RPM HDD. For a decent amount of time (at least a year) this served me very well and I was content with it - my previous experience with computers was mainly through that old laptop which was rocking windows vista, an intel pentium processor, 2GB of ram, and a fragmented hard-drive that was beyond repair so this desktop was like a gift from the heavens. However, over time, I didn't/couldn't stop learning about computer parts and I soon realized that I was very much nearing the status of "Computer Geek" - at least when it came to the hardware. I built my first PC a little over a year ago when one of my roommates entrusted me to assemble his new $1700 gaming rig with the parts that I picked out for him. All went well and he's had zero problems and no complaints. Early this past winter, I built (basically) an entirely new computer for myself. This build included: -Corsair 750D case - cooled by two 140mm front intakes, one 140mm rear exhaust, and two 120mm exhaust "push" radiator fans -Corsair CX750M Power Supply ---> Remember this item for later (single 12V rail, semi-modular, 750W power supply) -Corsair H100i CPU cooler -ASUS Z97 Maximus VII Hero motherboard -Intel i7 4790k CPU -4X4GB G-Skill Ripjaw DDR3 2133MHz system memory -120GB Samsung 840 EVO ssd (this item was actually purchased several months earlier) Notice how out of this parts list, I did not included a new GPU. The main purpose of building this computer was because I wanted to do it (who doesn't enjoy building a new computer) and I really didn't trust the incredibly cheap motherboard that came with the Dell. So, adding a new GPU was simply not in the budget and in all honesty, the OEM version of the GTX 660 was really very impressive in most games given its release date and specs relative to the current era of 900 series cards. I built the computer, reused my old HDD so I didn't have to deal with storage crap (I despise dealing with storage, a.k.a. transferring files and programs from one device to the other). As with my last computer build, all went well and I had zero problems. My CPU overclocked pretty average for a 4790k to a stable 4.6GHz with the H100i cooler. Since that time (early January 2015) I have had zero hardware issues, no crashes, no problems at all. Now, we're finally very near the current date. Right before the release of the mystery product that clearly no one knew was coming (the 980Ti), many of the regular GTX 980's were going on some pretty good sales with rebates and whatnot. By this time (May 2015), my 660 was finally starting to show it's age - as game tech advanced, my fps were dropping. Needless to say, I was very interested in the 980's. I did a pretty reasonable amount of research even though I really didn't need to since I'm so up to date with LinusTechTips, JayzTwoCents, TekSyndicate, etc. with the releases and reviews of new hardware. I was semi set on an EVGA SSC 980 when I noticed that the normally priced $700 EVGA GTX 980 Classified (which I honestly didn't even bother looking at before due to its normal price) was on sale at Amazon for $589, included a $20 rebate towards the card, and buyers also received codes for Witcher 3 and the new Batman. As you might have guessed, I finally bought a new GPU to match my reasonably "upper-tier" PC... the EVGA GTX 980 Classified. It came within a couple of days (gotta love Amazon Prime) on June 1, 2015 and as soon as I could, I tore apart my computer and added my new power hungry dual 8-pin GPU monster - up from a single 6-pin GPU. I booted the computer up and immediately went to NVIDIA's website to download the latest driver and be sure that the old one was uninstalled properly. I selected the most recent driver for the 980 and downloaded it (it happened to be a driver that was less than one day old - Driver Version 353.06). After that, I couldn't help myself but fire up the 3DMark Demo on Steam and see how much I actually gained from this card. I had MSI Afterburner installed and running on my other monitor so that I could monitor various elements as the test ran. To my pleasant surprise, the card naturally boosted to 1430MHz and maintained a relatively low temp during the Firestrike benchmark. *It should be noted that I have two Dell U2312HM (1080p res., 60Hz refresh rate, IPS panel) monitors connected to the GPU via a DVI connection to each monitor* As expected, my Firestrike score greatly increased - what I didn't expect was that it nearly tripled! It wasn't too long until I wanted to see what more I could squeeze out of the card. Without touching any voltages, I maxed out the power limit slider and began gradually adjusting the core and memory speed. It was doing well... doing well... kept going... no artifacting... and then the display crashed. This is when I was first greeted with the error message I listed above "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered." I simply chalked this up as the limit for my OC, backed the speeds down a fair bit, and tried again. It ran just fine. Remember that these crashes I get are pretty random. That evening, I started playing the Witcher 3 for the first time and not long into it, I had another display driver crash. Seeing how it was getting late and I just wanted to relax, I opened up MSI Afterburner and just returned the card to its default settings. After another 20 minutes or so I had yet another display driver crash. This raised the little red flag in my head - I'm now operating at the stock speeds from out of the box and just received another crash. Something is wrong and I don't know what or why. My first reaction was that it was a problem with this very new game - it wasn't long until it crashed again but this time while not in the game. This is where my roller coaster ride that I mentioned at the beginning of this novel began. I began researching, researching, and researching some more (all while I should have been studying for my midterms and doing homework for my summer classes, mind you) to the point where I found countless explanations of my issue, potential fixes, and causes. Thanks to the nature of the internet( ), out of all of the causes/effects that I found, each one was the sole explanation and solution to the problem according to that individual... everyone else was wrong (sarcasm). It took more sifting through forums and google searches than I care to admit to but I finally found a very helpful resource that I feel is actually the legitimate source behind my problem. It can be found here. Upon reading and understanding that article as best I could, I checked on a number of solutions - none of what I have tried has solved my problem as today I am still getting display driver crashes at random times. Here is a list of things I have tried in hopes of solving this issue and that ultimately still led to a crash: -I first uninstalled and then did a clean install of the latest NVIDIA driver -I then did this again, this time leaving out the NVIDIA audio software -I tried rolling back several driver versions -I uninstalled MSI Afterburner and GeForce Experience -I double checked numerous power settings in my mother board's BIOS thinking I might be suffocating the card thanks to some who-knows-what ASUS power saving setting -I Made sure it was in a PCI-eX16 Gen 3 lane -I tried using EVGA Precision-X as my monitoring software -I "underclocked" the core clock speed - essentially removing the EVGA factory overclock -I ran a system memory test - it reported zero problems/errors -I restored my CPU overclock and voltages to their original settings with a motherboard BIOS settings reset -I even backed up my entire computer, formatted my SSD and my HDD, and installed a clean (legitimate) version of Windows 8.1 Pro ----->Then I updated all drivers once again to their newest versions and moved only necessary files back (documents, pictures, etc) leaving behind things I could download from the internet later as needed. -------> to be fair, this was a good idea anyways since I was still using the OEM version of Windows that was still on my original HDD from Dell. This also allowed me to finally move my OS to my SSD. Nothing worked for my driver crashes. An interesting note to consider here is when I was running my monitoring software, whether it was MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision X, my power usage limit for the GPU never once approached 100%. The highest I ever saw it reach was 91% and that was one of the few times it managed to keep from crashing with a moderate overclock while 3DMark Firestrike was running. It normally sits around 80-85% (give or take a little) during heavy, near 100% GPU usage. Maybe I'm reading into this one little point too much but I feel that I should definitely at least be coming close to a power limit of 100% out of the available 125% with an overclock on this card (I even gently ramped up the voltage on the card once in an effort to draw more power but had no changes). At this point, I'm basically concluding that the GPU is in some way or another faulty. When I try overclocking the GPU is definitely when it crashes most frequently which leads me to believe that whatever my issue is, it's a power delivery problem presented either by my Corsair CX750M which up until now has performed perfectly fine (albeit with a much less power hungry GPU) or a fault in EVGA's custom PCB on my specific Classified card. Remember that I never once had an issue when I was still using my GTX 660. The entire point of this post wasn't so much about me asking for answers or solutions (though I certainly do not want to discourage people to list their thoughts/suggestions!) but rather to create a post on the LinusMediaGroup Forums to allow the community to be more aware of this type of problem since it appears to be so common and is so hard to diagnose. Due to the nature of PC building and the extreme customization of hardware and software, its nearly impossible to make everything run perfectly all the time so things like this can happen sometimes, I suppose. It seems (from my research) that most of the time this is a software related issue and troubleshooting should be dealt with first from a software angle before jumping to the conclusion that it's faulty hardware. That's exactly what I tried to do before I send away the GPU for a while to EVGA while I wait on a replacement. If you've read even just 50% of this post, Kudos to you! It kept growing larger and larger each time I read through it so I apologize for that - especially given my lack-luster conclusion to this story. I hope everyone could learn something from my experiences here and I encourage you to please post any similar experience you may have had or have dealt with! Thanks!
  15. Long story short, I rma'd my gpu (sapphire 7970 ghz edd.), it had a broken fan for about a year, One day I booted up my PC and could not get a picture (not even the bios screen) so for the next 3.5 weeks I had to use the integrated GPU on my i7 (3770k) I noticed a strange issue where every few 10 mins or so one or both of my screens would glitch out a bit (kinda like the flash you get on your second screen when you alt-tab out of a game, or switch from windowed to full screen.) I just figured it was Intel HD not liking the fact that I had dual monitors, (I am on the latest driver) and even though it would happen when I was web browsing, I did not think much of it. anyway, today the replacement card came in. (had some obvious signs of wear) and I plugged it in, and it had the same issue! I figured it was DOA, but I went ahead and plugged it into my second slot, and what do you know it worked! ...well at least the PC was able to boot. I tested it in some games, and in crysis 3 on v.high, after about 8-10 seconds the screen would glitch then both monitors would be covered in stripes, some times green and light green, some times a yellow-ish color, and other times the screen would turn a light blue. some times it would turn back to normal with the game crashing, and I am informed that my drivers have crashed, other times it would just hang. I updated to the latest beta drivers, and even tried underclocking my gpu AND memory to 800mhz. and I even tried using an extra cable I had to have my GPU power be connected directly to my power supply ( 750W) no luck. I also tried shadow of mordor (before today's patch) and I could barely load the world before my GPU would freak out. normal browsing, and web video play back cause no problems. Any Ideas how I can fix this, I'd REALLY not like to go through the RMA process again....
  16. EDIT: Sorry for not providing a lot of detail, I'm posting as late as I can and will update it tomorrow. Any help would be appreciated. I have had this Lenovo Y40 for three days. I have nothing but issues trying to run any program that uses the GPU. I'm getting constant "Your display driver has crashed" issues. Three programs used to monitor temps have all reported the GPU as running at 511 degrees C. As soon as any GPU intensive program is launched, BOOM, artifacting and a display driver crash. I have tried thoroughly reinstalling the factory drivers, and all of the compatible AMD drivers. Clean reinstall each time, no luck. I have tried reinstalling Windows 8 completely, and still, no fix. 17. I will start when the first issue aroused about a week ago now. I was playing a game on steam (Dota 2) and also browsing the web on my second monitor. All of the sudden the game freezes (this has never happened prior to this.) I have no choice but to restart the computer while in it's frozen state. Upon reboot windows trys to repair itself but the repair fails. After many attempts of repairs and restarts I decide to try to the other options on the BSOD. I try all options (restore, safe mode, etc.) except for the refresh option. Every once in awhile I will get the log file on the BSOD that says "F:Windows/System32/Logfiles/srt.srttrailtxt." After researching this message I try a few things in the command prompt which include running "CHKDSK/R/F" and also "sfc/scan now" After the sfc/scannow scan I get this... "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them. Details are included in the CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not supported in offline servicing scenarios. The system file repair changes will take effect after the next reboot." This message was not as optimistic as it sounds as I still can't get the computer up and running. I decide I have no choice but to "refresh the pc". I try all options (restore, safe mode, etc.) After all those options fail I decide I have no choice but to refresh the pc. After the refresh I start downloading the basic drivers from asus, windows updates and so forth. I download steam, and origin as well. I downloaded two games I have on steam and then proceeded to download the two games I have from Origin (Crysis 3, Titanfall.) While downloading these games it will freeze after a few minutes and I will force reboot. I then delete Orgin from the PC and reinstall it. I try downloading the games again. Crysis 3 downloaded successfully but Titan fails to download. Upon trying to download this game I get two error messages. The first message from Windows says... "Titanfall Audio Installer Error Titanfall Audio Installation failed! Could not read 114899 bytes at offset 161897669 in pak file " //?/c:/Program Files (x86)/Orgin Games/Titanfall/cpk/Client_mp_common.bsp.pal000_oo5.vpk 0x0000045D: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error." The second message is from Orgin and says... Titanfall Error. A redisabutional package (audo_installer.exe) was not installed successfully. Setup cannot continue. (1) After restart the computer becomes extremely slow and unresponsive. Running almost any application causes the computer to freeze which forces me to restart. During this time I figured this wouldn't hurt so I updated my BIOS on the X99 deluxe to the latest version. The computer will get to the desktop but is not usable due to the crashes and slow behavior. Now i'm more lost than ever and decide to just do a clean install of Windows 8.1. This seems to work so I download the x99 drivers first, and then I try to download the latest GTX 980 graphics driver. It will start downloading but eventually the screens cut out black and never turn back on. ( The monitor should restart during the install of the new GPU driver but they should turn back on) Now I have to force restart again. This is where I am as of right now. I have no idea what to do. I am assuming that this is an issue with latest graphics driver from nvidia? Maybe someone else has had the same issue with the latest 980 driver? Is there something else I did wrong? Maybe the SSD or graphics card is faulty? My computer was working flawlessly up until the first issue on Saturday 2/7/15. I am so stressed out over this and am so thankful to anyone who could give some advice. 18. Guten Abend, So im folding for around 2 months now with my gtx780 and from time to time my Display Driver just crashes and i have to restart folding with my gpu. It just goes back to 0% and i can do it again. For some reason its not only with my current driver (331.65) but also with a lot of them further back in time like the 320's and even 310's. Im not sure if its a special type of Work Unit which is causing it to fail all the time or if they are always different but either way this sucks big time! Any ideas why i have these problems? Also, is it normal that my ppd fluctuates really hard between 80k and 200k? (most of the time its around 120k) Thx and greetings Edit: System specs in the sig >.>
