I'm looking for a dock for my laptop, its a Asus Zephyrus g14 from 2021. This has a "USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C support DisplayPort™ / power delivery / G-SYNC" For the life of me I can not figure out what kind of dock I should be looking for. I have 2 displays: A 1440p 165hz g-sync And a 1080p 75hz ultrawide Also i would like to plug my peripherals into it (mouse and keyboard basically). I just need some guidance in what type of dock can fit this requirements. Usb names got me very confused:( If more info is needed please ask me, I'll answer as soon as im available. Thank you!

Hi all, I a m planning to build a new PC for gaming/work in a server chassis to put it as far away as possible from my office. For that, I am planning to buy motherboard with Thunderbolt3 support and displayport passthrough capability. I will connect my PC to a Thunderbolt 4 dock with a Corning Thunderbolt 3 optical cable. I haven't really decided what specific mobo or TB4 dock I will use, but I have a general question: can you game normally on a setup like that (PC->Dock) just like you would on a regular gaming PC in front of you or you would get performance deterioration? Lets say I will use something like RTX 4070 Ti and I would pair it with one 2k 144Hz monitor. So will Thunderbolt connection ruin my gaming experience or will it be just fine and I wouldn't notice any lags/stutters/etc.? P.S. Will my PC be able to wake up from sleep mode in this configuration if I tried to wake it up using peripherals connected to the dock? Thanks in advance

Hi there, I have a work laptop and my personal laptop. Both are Lenovos and I work with a dual monitor setup, exchanging the thunderbolt cable when I want to use one over the other. I'm wondering if there's a KVM setup that'll work with my existing docking setup (Lenovo), something like two thunderbolt cables going into a KVM then into the dock. Does this exist? Or is there another way of accomplishing this? It'd be nice to toggle between both setups easily. Thanks

I just ran into a strange problem and I am looking for some advice. I recently purchased a Razer Core X egpu enclosure to use with my laptop. I have the i9 version of the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra which does have a laptop 4070 in it which is really nice but it only has 8gb of vram. I have a 3090 that was in my prior computer so I got the egpu enclosure so that I could take advantage of the extra vram for simulations. I bought the enclosure off of ebay and it appears to be in good condition and it was packed very well. It arrived yesturday so I put my graphics card in it, fired it up, plugged my laptop in, and then recieved bad news. When the egpu is connected, the nvidia driver (which is up to date) seems to crash. My whole system starts to lag, I can't open windows settings, I can't open the nvidia control panel, and my laptop fan goes to maximum. I checked device manager and the intel graphics, 4070, and 3090 are all detected. The properties on the 3090 says it works fine but it definitely doesn't and I don't have any display output though it. The 4070 says that windows can't access the driver. Win+ctrl+shift+b does flash the screen but has no effect. I assume that is because the intel graphics are running the display so it doesn't actually restart the nvidia driver. I tried rebooting and restarting the nvidia driver through task manager but neither did anything. When I unplug the egpu and even if I reboot the 4070 has the same error. The only way I have fixed it is by uninstalling the nvidia driver. Sometimes when I reboot after the uninstall, the driver is magically back and working but other times I have to reinstall the driver manually and that fixes it. Any ideas? I am really lost here and any input would be really helpful. Also, I am using a 3ft usb-c 240watt 40gbit cable. Strangely, when I plug it into my laptop, I also get a windows notification saying I would get faster charging if I plug into a faster charger. I thought this enclosure was supposed to put out 100 watts which is what my laptop takes so I am confused why it isn't getting that. Do I have a bad cable? I don't have any faster cables and this one was fine with my 10gbit ssd but I guess 40gbit is a lot more than that. Is that the potential source of error is there something else I should check?

Hi all, I have a bit of a conundrum i could use some advice on... I currently have a PC desk setup including two monitors (one at 144hz, both 1080p) and the other usual peripherals (keyboard, mouse etc) that i use for both gaming and remote work. My employer has issues laptops for us to use from home and is no longer supporting BYOD via Citrix for remote access. Is there any solutions out there for me to switching between the two setups and use the same peripherals and monitors?? Notes: - the PC has a discrete gpu - The laptop is a Surface Laptop 4

I'm completly new to this and i could really use some help, thanks for reading

Hello everyone! I recently bought an Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 laptop with the AMD chipset which doesn't support thunderbolt for some reason. That being said, I want to purchase some kind of easy, one-cable solution to plugging my 1440p 240Hz monitor (and use as close to it's full capabilities as I can, plugged in preferably through displayport 1.4), a keyboard (USB-A), headphones (USB-A), a microphone (USB-A), some kind of charging higher than the power consumption at load, maybe speakers (USB-A) and a mouse (USB-A) and an ethernet cable that works well with USB-4 (apparently it's flakey with thunderbolt devices even though thunderbolt is in the spec). Do you guys have any suggestions for a dock that would work for me?

Hi, I got a 5120x1440 120hz 49' ultrawide monitor and want to connect it to my M1 macbook pro. Im looking for a USB Dock that supports the monitor at its max resolutions and frequency. A dock that also has a few usb 3.0's and usb-c's, supports charging via the dock and has SD card reader. Is there anyone that can recommend me one? Help is much appreciated. Thanks

Hi all ! I just treated myself with a MSI Katana 15 B12VGK and I'm now looking at the docking options. I'm not looking for anything crazy as it will be hooked to just one ultra wide monitor in either DP or HDMI but the price range goes from 50 $ to hundreds. Is there a true added value ? Any reliable "one model fits all" kind of thing ? Or is it just to look for the IO needed and that's it ? Thanks for your help !

Hi, I currently have 2 laptops(m2 macbook air, razer blade stealth) and I'm using a this belkin docking station for one cable setup as it can support dual display for the mac: https://www.belkin.com/usb-c-dual-display-docking-station/P-INC002.html I am planning on selling my razer laptop and building a pc. I would like to keep the one cable setup to switch between the computers. I am planning to use a thunderbolt card for it with GPU pass through. My current setup works fine even in games with no drop, but I am not sure that it will handle the higher graphics in games with the new pc as this dock is USB-C 3.1(probably gen 1.) not thunderbolt. Any opinion? I have 2 1080p 60hz displays. Thanks.

I'm looking for a hardware solution to use the same peripherals (mouse, keyboard and webcam) and dual monitors for my work laptop and my windows desktop. The laptop has 2 USB-C ports. I've looked online and can't find a single solution (ie. Need to buy both a dock and a KVM switch). Also from what I've read, DP is better than HDMI for NVIDIA GPUs (coz of GSync compatibility) Looking for something between $100-$250 price range (idk if that's realistic) 1. Is there a good option that can have a single USB-C input for the laptop with compatibility with the desktop? If not what's the best dock and KVM switch combo? 2. Is my conjecture that DP better than HDMI correct for my use case?

these docks are really cheap on eBay, I googled around and most of the questions are people asking if it worked for older USB ports. The dell documentation doesn't really say much about it either. theoretically it's just thunderbolt 3 so I guess there wouldn't be any real reason it wouldn't work....

Hi, i am currently trying to move my desktop pc into a separate room like Linus did in one of his videos. Setup Motherboard: MSI Z390-A PRO (latest version 7B98v1D) Thunderbolt Card: Gigabyte GC-MAPLE RIDGE (rev. 1.0) Dock: Razer Thunderbolt™ 4 Dock Chroma Windows 10 Edu 64 Bit All the latest Thunderbolt driver to this date installed When I use the included cable from razer the dock works as expected. Displays and USB peripherals are all getting passed through the dock to the desktop pc. When I use the Corning cable only the displays are showing up and the razer dock isn’t lighting up (lights under the dock). So no USB peripherals or ethernet is being transmitted. I tried the dock on my notebook and with razer cable it works flawlessly. With the Corning cable I had some issues in the beginning but I got it work after some time. When I plugged in the cable one way it didn’t work so I switched the end and then I started lighting up and transmitting everything from display to usb peripherals. I ordered another dock from CalDigit to verify if it’s the docks fault or something else. Maybe it has something to do with some bios settings? Thanks for your help in advance Let me know if more information are needed Edit: added some more setup specs

Hi all, I want to buy a docking station for my Laptop ASSUS ROG Zephyrus G GA502DU nad I need some help. I found this one in a local shop https://canyon.eu/product/cns-hds09b/ (photo below) but I am not able figure out cople of things. On the docking documentation it is stated taht it can charge through the USB Type-C connection 100W but I am not able to find anything about charging the laptop through USB Type-C Will I be able to use this dock? Will my laptop be able to charge through it? Can I damage my laptop by using it? I intend to use 3 external displays using the 2 HDMI and Display Prots on the dock ( I do not care if one of them will duplicate what is on my laptop screen). I am currently using the integrated HDMI and Type-C to DP so I can run 2 external displays + integrated display Will I be able to do that? Love you all guys nad thanks in advanced!!!!

Budget (including currency): 1000€ Country: Austria Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Photo-work, video rendering, games Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I'd like to do the whole PC is in a different room to get away from heat and noise thing, because with homeoffice hours and gaming sessions afterwards the room regularly turns into a sauna. I'm going to go for the GIGABYTE GC-Titan Ridge 2.0 AIC fitting to my X570 Aorus Master and the Corning Optical Thunderbolt cable. So far so clear. The real question now is: Is there any TB3 dock that supports 5120x1440 at higher than 60 hz (ideally 120-144hz)? I've looked around for a bit and so far found nothing definitve. Help much appreciated.

I have 3 monitors, 1 of which is a 144 Hz gaming monitor. I would like to be able to use just one single USB-C thunderbolt connection to switch all my monitors, peripherals, network and misc between my personal computer and my work PC. Preferably I would like to have just 3 displayport outputs and maybe a HDMI for connection to my TV every once in a while. Bonus points would be if there was a dock with 2 USB-C connectors and a switching button so that I do not have to unplug my personal computer in order to connect to my work PC. Just letting me switch between 2 connected computers by a button. I have been searching and found some docks that look pretty good, but I never find anything I feel like fits my exact use case. I don't mind spending a little extra as long as I get a quality product that does what I need it to do. What do you run? What thunderbolt docks do you recommend? What should I be looking out for? Are there any recommended brands? What features should I want to make sure my dock has? Thanks

Budget (including currency): £1000 Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Everything :) Other details So here's the deal, I work from home permanently and travel for work frequently, so i have the following at my desk, 1. Workstation Pc (Business) 2. Business Laptop 3. MacBook Pro 4, Gaming Rig, With Steam Index 5, Xbox on my desk i have 2 screens, debating moving to 3 1 tv that sits behind me for xbox netflix etc, Right now i have a Crap KVM that allows me to switch between my workstation and Gaming rig. (Pway) and a HDMI splitter that allows me to move one of the screens over to the tv and for the xbox onto a screen or tv but for my laptop and mac, i have to mess around to plug them in every time Most of my gear is in a small frestanding rack, at the side of my desk, so i dont care to much about the size of the devices or look of the device, Rackmount would be nice etc. I just don't seem to be able to find anything that would allow me to move my devices and screens to each device. I did think about KVM software but my work wont allow this Any Ideas

I know asus has something called ErP ready in bios, that makes a thunderbolt 3 dock work while in bios, and not just in OS. I was wondering if anybode here knew what ASrock names their feature like ErP on asus motherboards? My setup: 9700k ASrock extreme4 z370 paired with an asrock aic tb3 card. Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Dock Plus I am currently not using my dock, because of this issue, that i cannot acces bios when connected via the dock. (keyboard unresponsivve while booting via dock) Dock works fine in windows/macos

Hello So I have an Asus Zenbook Flip 13 UX363 and need Dock/ eGPU in order to connect: 2-3 Monitors (nr. irrelevant because it plugs into gpu) 4x USB Peripherals (mouse, keyboard, webcam, fingerprint reader) 1x Ethernet cable I search for something that would connect with only 1 Thunderbolt cable for power and data The laptop has Thunderbolt 4 so the dock can take advantage of that or be TB3 I searched and didn't find something suitable beside the Razer Core X Chroma Do I have any more options?

So i will be installing a thunderbolt 4 card in my PERSONAL RIG 2021 (i had to xD), because my case is a inwin 915 which is beautiful but getting access to the rear IO is a pain in the A##. So i have been looking around and i love the look of the Corsair thunderbolt 3 dock they just released, But the cal digit dock (the one Linus uses) looks more practical ( I have not started doing research into the exact specs of the two to compare). I am not limiting myself to just those 2 brands so i am open to any suggestions. But i wanted to know from my fellow techies what every one thinks is the best thunderbolt dock ?

What is the best thunderbolt 3 dock for use with windows, I need 4k 60hz on 2 Display ports, and possibly another display output, and as many USB ports as possible. I do not need laptop charging as my Alienware A51M uses WAY to much power for that anyway. a button to turn on my laptop on the dock would be nice, but is not a deal breaker. Looking at Amazon, it seems that everyone that I have loooked so far have at least %8 1 star reviews, aren't there any out there with stellar performance?

Country: US, NJ Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: unity, photoshop, and single player games Specs: core i7-9750H, gtx1650, 16gb ram, 1tb SSD hey guys, so I currently have an XPS 15 7590 and I want to use it for unity and some demanding games like the outerworlds and cyberpunk if it turns out to be a real game, I don't really need a lot of fps but I want to crank up the settings all the way up and maybe enable ray-tracing every now and then so I wanted to get a dock station but I'm not sure about compatability or if it could even work at all and I was wondering what exactly should I get for this to work like what's an e-gpu case that would work with the 3070 and what dock should I get for the laptop and whether or not I'll need a special cable or if most usb-C cables would do fine and what cable can I use for the display or if i'll have to just stick to the HDMI on the laptop. Also black friday is tomorrow an I wanted to use this opportunity to finally get a second monitor and I'm looking for a colour accurate monitor that's 1440p@120hz, if it's 4k then that's fine as long as it's not way more expensive, like around 100 USD more than the 1440p would be nice and if I can get a nice 1080p that's a lot cheaper I might get that instead but honestly I don't care that much about the refresh rate and would absolutely take an HDR screen over the 120hz if it wasn't a lot more expensive. One last thing is that I really want it to look clean and not super gamer-y, I honestly am not that savvy with monitors or dock stations so I was hoping to get recommendations and warnings about such monitors or systems

I was just looking around on facebook when an ad from a popular e-commerce site in south america catched my attention on what looks to be some sort of external GPU dock you can buy from wish.com. For some questions about the product the vendor says that he isn't a computer literate person and he just stumbled on some stock of this things and has to get rid of and after that tells you to go google it and research your self because that's not his work. Here is the link to the said article where you can find some nothing at all instructive pictures of it. Personally neither do I have a clue to how this thing operates. https://articulo.mercadolibre.com.pe/MPE-441070578-beast-dock-para-tarjeta-grafica-externa-_JM
