My laptop (HP Elitebook 840 G6) experienced some kind of issue when upgrading to Windows 11 and crashed completely. I used a recovery USB to restore it back to a blank Windows 10, however, now several features including and most especially the Video Out for the USB-C\Thunderbolt port no longer work. Not sure if this is meant to be over Thundebolt or USB-C DP Alt mode Device manager is showing issues with an I2C HID Device: This device cannot start. (Code 10) A request for the HID descriptor failed. If it helps, when I apply my USB-C display to another HP (a Probook I borrowed from work), when the display is attached a "Generic PnP Monitor" appears in 'Bluetooth & other devices' - this does no occur on the machine I'm having issue with. Can someone please help me restore this functionality. I've tried all number of different recovery drives and installing many many drivers, but it doesn't seem to work. Please help!

Hello, this is my first time posting here and this might be a dumb question but just want to try to get a answer/solution to my monitor disconnecting and reconnecting breifly in some games and in this example it is minecraft. It is a 164hz LG Ultragear monitor and it will do this reconnect thing and then display the message "display port" input on the top right but it then locks the monitor at 60hz even though the game settings are *vsync off, unlimtited fps etc. However the only way I can fix this is by making my monitor reconnect manually, or by changing and turning free sync premium off and then on again which just reconnects the montior. Its hard to describe and I dont know why this happens. It basically just changes back to display port as a seperate input for just the game???, but when it doesnt recconect and keeps the same input and doesnt change/reconnect it works fine and the high refresh rate stays at 165hz. Its really confusing to decribe, and I hope some one gets it? I have attached a video to this too and I hope that shows this better too Heres the link to the video:

I bought a Samsung odyssey g5 34 inch 165hz monitor the other day and being stupid didn't realize the HDMI port on the monitor was blocked from running 165Hz (up to 100HZ) and I could use the Display port but sadly my laptop only has HDMI output on it, and the GPU is only connected to the HDMI port (Razer blade 14 3080ti (2022)). So the only way i can get 165Hz out of it is if I use an Active HDMI to DP adaptor, but i can't seem to find any that can run 3440x1440 @ 165Hz. Any suggestions on what I should do or an Adaptor you found(that can ship to AUS)?

My Dell 7020 died, so I bought a Dell 9020 (second-hand, obviously). I work with three monitors. The first, I connected VGA to VGA, no problem. The second, Display port to VGA via an adapter. No problem. The third monitor is connected display port to diplay port, and the computer fails to recognise it. Any ideas?

Hey guys. I have an Odyssey G8 I use for gaming. I have recently got a triple screen dedicated setup for my sim racing setup and tried to do a 1.4DP Bi directional switch to go from desktop to sim rig. In theory this should work fine but for some reason I can’t get the switches to work with my G8 without causing unbearable flickering and black screens. I’ve tried two different switches, the shortest 16K DP cables (1.5ft and 1.5 for the G8) and can’t get it to work right. The other monitors are Acer 32” 2K. The Acer works just fine when I switch power to it. The switch is rated for 8K at 60Hz or 4K at 120Hz. Is there something maybe i haven’t tried that would work? I’ve tried lowering refresh rate to 120 on display settings. Thanks for your time.

Hi everyone I was wondering if anyone had information on verified / certified / approved Display Port 1.4a cables? I have been reading around and this link (just for example) talks about Display Port 1.4...specifically 1.4a. I was wondering if the physical cable has anything to do with the minor 1.4a change OR is it all the port on the hardware. What about DisplayPort 1.4a? DisplayPort 1.4a was ratified in April 2018 and is a minor alteration of the DisplayPort 1.4 standard that did nothing to improve its bandwidth or feature support for video or audio streams. The only change is the implementation of DSC 1.2a, which improves upon DSC 1.1 and 1.2 with better support for HDR in the compression algorithm and improves color support. Reason why this topic has come up is because I am transitioning from a Nvidia 2080 TI (which I LOVE my USB-C connection..sad it's gone.) to Nvidia 4090 OC (Zotac GAMING AMP Extreme AIRO GeForce RTX 4090). All the ports are DisplayPort 1.4a Outputs. So...is it the cable or the ports that make the HDR improvement?

Hi, as you can see in the photos, after inverting the lian li o11 d evo case and completing the build i hit a wall with GPU being in the lowest slot of the case and there being no space to connect DisplayPort. I ended up having to cut off the whole isolation around connector so i'd be able to put it in. I can't put the GPU in the upper slot of MB because of all the aRGB and fans connectors right above it. Is there anything i could do with this problem or do I have settle with this solution? MB: ASRock b650m pg riptide GPU: GIGABYTE Radeon RX 6700 XT GAMING OC 12G, 12GB GDDR6 CASE: Lian Li O11 Dynamic EVO Black

Today all of my ports except for one DP port don't work on my RTX 2080. Noticed that my VR headset was unable to connect and Oculus said that my hardware didn't support Rift S. I moved my DP monitor cable to the other ports and they won't work. The HDMI on it is also not responding. Any idea if I could do anything to fix the other ports? Or am I going to have to buy a new GPU?

Trying to go for a dual monitor setup using the Ryzen 5 5600g. I have an MSI b450 Mortar max motherboard and 2 HDMI monitors. The motherboard has only 2 displays, hdmi and dp. the HDMI output to HDMI input works, bought an adaptor for DP output to HDMI input but it doesn't work. I don;t know what seems to be the issue, is it the motherboard, adapter, or something else. I checked the BIOS but it doesn't show something to enable multiple displays. Both monitors are 60hz. Here's the link for the adapter: https://ventiontech.com/products/displayport-male-to-hdmi-female-adapter Also read somewhere about bidirectional and unidirectional cables but I'm not sure if that's the case. HDMI monitor -> HDMI cable -> Adapter -> DP computer

I have two monitors. 1st - ALIENWARE 34 QD-OLED - AW3423DW 3440 x 1440 (DisplayPort: 175 Hz) 2nd - ALIENWARE 25 - AW2521HFL Full HD (1080p) 1920 x 1080 at 240 Hz Everything was working fine with original DP cables for both my monitors. until I switched to 10ft amazon basics DP cable for my primary monitor. **(I had a little room makeover which includes an L shaped new table so i had to switch to longer cables cuz 6ft won't reach ) Now I'm unable to run my 34'' monitor on 175hz. It would only go upto 100hz beyond it display turns off until i switch refresh rate back to 100hz or lower. (and no its not a HDMI cable i've checked already) when switching back to 6ft original DP cable everything works fine, I confirmed the problem by switching back to my previous monitor (ACER Predator X35 which have similar specs only 200hz and no oled) still the problem persists with the 10ft cable - Refresh rate limited to 100hz. where as my secondary monitor is working fine. after discussing friends, some suggested me to buy new and costly DP cable, Few suggest me change GPU (I ain't gonna do that) and Some went as far as to explain to change my PSU cuz according to them my psu is unable to give suffient power to my gpu to work at full potential with long cables. (Seriously) I'm fed up asking noobies for suggestion, I need some expert solution whether to buy new cable and if so which one a link would be a great help.

I am building a new PC around the 5600X and 3080 and CRG9 Monitor. I read that it would be preferable to use the CRG9 with a Display port 1.4 and I also regularly play VR using a HTC VIVE, which requires an HDMI Port. PC Part Picker does not appear to allow you to filter based on HDMI and Display Port. Can anyone recommend an X570 that has the above requirements? How do you decide which Motherboard Brand is best? Hi, I'm currently experiencing problems setting up dual monitors on my GTX 1660, both are have VGA outputs, one of them is going thru an VGA to HDMI adapter on the 1660, everything going fine, problem is, I tried running the other one thru a VGA to Display Port adapter and it goes to power saving mode a.k.a. not showing anything, I've checked both displays using the HDMI adapter and they work fine, but im guessing the problem is a)The VGA to Display port adapter or b) the Display Port on my 1660 I've power cycled both monitors, uninstalled drivers, reinstalled them again, updated windows, so IDK what to do here

rtx 2060 Having Issues expanding my pc into two monitors.
RustyLoner posted a topic in Troubleshooting
I am having problems expanding my pc into two monitors. I have an RTX 2060. It has 3 Display ports and one HDMI port. I bought a 1 to 2 HDMI port but all it did was mirror the display instead of expanding it. I tried using separate cables one in dp to hdmi and the other to the hdmi but nothing worked. I even tried to check for driver update but it still did not work. I need help because I cant get it to work.- 1 reply

Hey guys, any help is deeply appreciated!! Here is the case: I have a vertical gpu bracket installed and it came with special angled DP cables so I can't change them. I made an cable management overhaul and one cable isn't long enough afterwards so I got the coupler. My displays (both driven by a 2080ti) are: - Acer X34P (120Hz, 3440x1440, 21:9) - Asus VG248 (60Hz, 1080x1920, 16:9) The coupler only works with the Asus but I need it for the Acer. I tried using another cable as an extension, set it to Hz 60 and deactivated G-sync but nothing worked sofar. Simply restarting the pc or using just one Diplay doesn't work either. I haven't tried truning the resolution down but that wouldn't be a good solution anyway. Maybe you have some ideas on how to get it to work. Thank you very much!

Windows 10 Home Dual monitor setup (identical monitors) Nvidia 2060 Apparently, there has been an issue before with [dual] monitors hooked up to display port not going to sleep. The monitor hooked up to HDMI works as expected. The one hooked to displayport goes "black", but the backlight stays lit and the monitor stays active. Anybody know of a possible fix?

So I am almost finished my build but I have to keep using my old GPU until I can get a new one, the bad thing is that it's from 2012 and a GTX 660. So my problem is is that I am only running a display port cable from the GPU to the Monitor and no HDMI or DVI cables, my question is can the DP be used as the default setting for the GPU as I can't get into the bios without using at minimum an HDMI cable, is this a 2012 thing or a software thing? Any help would be appreciated.

I have a monitor that I was using via display port but the cable sucks. No matter how much I try and squeeze the release trigger it just does not want go in. I don't want to break my monitor but I don't see any other way to remove it. I tried to use plyers to get more leverage but they are too thick on one side because the cord plugs into the monitor from underneath and not straight out the back. Can anyone recommend a tool or solution to remove this cord? I've potentially already killed one monitor I upgraded and had a difficult time removing the same brand of cord. But since it was an upgrade I don't know if it still works. I will put a link to the cable below so you can avoid buying it: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TTQ306M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
