1. So I have a Razer Basilisk V3 that has been randomly disconnecting for some time now. Sometimes it won't even reconnect and I have to unplug and replug it to connect again. I've tried about everything, swapped out the unit for a new one, different USB ports, adjusted the power management for the device and usb hub in device manager, and updated my motherboard BIOS to multiple iterations to no avail. My setup is an ASUS X570 Tuf Gaming mobo, 5800x, 3090FE, 32gb 3600mhz GSkill, 850w EVGA G3 PSU, 6 system fans with corsair H150I capellix cooler, basically everything's RGB and no overclocks save for the memory profile. At this point I'm wondering if my PSU is defective. It was replaced by EVGA once for causing random reboots, so maybe this unit is having issues as well? Am I barking up the wrong tree or would it be beneficial to upgrade to something like a 1000w PSU?
2. Hello all, randomly when playing games, browsing the web, even just using discord my computer seems to freeze for about 1-10s, it disconnects everything currently connected to my pc via usb and then reconnects them and I un-freeze. If I am playing a game the game doesn't even crash, and after the 1-10s I can just continue playing like it never happened. It seems to trigger quite often when someone joins or leaves my discord channel but I think that could be just a big coincidence as that doesn't really make any sense. I've tried using event viewer to source the issue, and discovered every time I freeze I get a Kernel Event Tracing error id 28. I think this may just be due to the fact that when I freeze my peripherals disconnect then reconnect , but every time I plug in my ASTRO A50's and my Hyper X Quadcast S I get those errors. Not sure if those errors could cause the freeze in the first place though. Seems to happen about only once a day not sure if i can remember if it's happened more than once in a day and I use my computer for hours upon hours everyday. Any help appreciated been dealing with this pretty much ever since I built the PC and I can't take it anymore. My specs: GPU : Asus Strix 3080 CPU : i9 13900k MOBO : Asus z790-e RAM : Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 64gb 6400mhz PSU : Corsair Shift Series 1000W NVME(s) : Corsair MP 600 and Corsair MP 600 PRO XT OS : Win 10 Pro I have tried upgrading my PSU from 850w to 1000w didn't fix it. I have tried upgrading my RAM from 32gb 6000mhz to 64gb 6400mhz didn't fix it. I have tried upgrading my MOBO from asus z690e to asus z790e didn't fix it. I have tried doing a complete clean install of windows (formatting the drive it was originally installed on and reinstalling with a USB) didn't fix it. I have tried replacing the A50's and Quadcast with brand new ones, didn't fix it. I have tried going into Power Management and turning off USB Selective Suspend, also went into device manager and made every single device that had the option of not allowing the pc to turn it off unchecked. I have tried updating bios to most current one, didn't fix it. Please someone help still not resolved as of 11/10/23
3. This is a weird one, I can't even figure out where to start in figuring this out. Hello everybody! I recently started having issues with my network, specifically my LAN connected devices. My network is set up the following way: Outside fiber -> Telekom fiber modem -> FritzBox 7590 (router) -> ca. 10m (~33ft) CAT5e LAN cable -> TP-Link TL-SG105 -> 2 PCs and a wired WLAN-AP. Tl;dr (for details, read the rest): I randomly lose LAN connection to my router. I can sometimes get it back. When I get it back, I sometimes still can't reach the router or the internet. Surefire way to fix it is rebooting the router. Have no clue what is going on. I should mention, the cases I'm describing here are not all one event but multiple events where sometimes one of the solutions I tried worked BUT there was one event where I did everything in the described order. Here it gets weird: When I walk out of my room I directly walk past the switch. It's on the bottom of a shelf with the LAN cable running underneath the shelf. When I come back to my PC, I've lost LAN connection. Further, the line coming in on the switch shows up as disconnected. So, my first thought was, maybe the cable and the super janky LSA connector I use to connect the end of the cable coming out of the wall to another cable that then goes into the switch slightly moves when I walk past it (this building is about 90 years old) and there is a bad connection. So, I pulled it apart, confirmed it works fine with a multi meter and put it back together. Issue persists. It's also not guaranteed to fail when I walk past it. Instead, it fails randomly. Next thing I did was log into the FritzBox with my phone to see what it can tell me. LAN shows up as disconnected. I go and just change all the ports. Go from port 0 on the FritzBox to port 1 and shuffle all ports on the switch. LAN shows up as connected on the FritzBox again but no devices. Weird... I check my PC and it tells me, no internet access but LAN is connected. Even weirder... I'm pretty much at a loss and start throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks. /ipconfig renew is the first thing I think of, and it tells me the DHCP-Server isn't replying. But I can see that something assigned an IP to my PC. I change the port speed on the FritzBox from 1Gbit to 100Mbit and boom, my PC shows up as connected to the FritzBox, but I still don't have internet AND I can’t reach the FritzBox from my PC. So, renew again, I think. Still no reply from the DHCP-Server. What?! Switch the port back to 1Gbit and nothing changes. PC still shows up, still can't reach the FritzBox or reach the DHCP server. Only thing left that I could think of, is reboot the FritzBox and now everything works fine. A few hours later (I've walked in and out of my room multiple times now) I walk out of my room and come back: LAN connected but no internet access. Huh? Try to reach the FritzBox with my PC, nope. Log in with my phone, LAN connected but no devices. I just, what? I know enough about networking to know that I know nearly nothing and not enough to even begin figuring this out. I know a thing or two about wires, wiring and how important shielding is to know that the LSA connector is jank but works fine and isn't affected by the floor subtly shifting when I walk past it. If pulling on the cable (dw, I'm not yanking on it) to get it out underneath the shelf doesn't affect it then why would walking past it? Beyond that I have absolutely no clue what is going on. I did run the cable my self and there are no points where someone could walk over it or even damage it in any way. What I'm saying is, it's done right. Any help in diagnosing the issue or even fixing it would be much appreciated. English isn't my first language if there are any points where something isn't clear, I apologize and please don't hesitate to ask for clarification. Thanks in advance, Zero
4. I've seen this error happen to a few others so thought I'd see if anyone has solved this type of issue. I recently built a PC a few days ago, with an i9-13900k and a 4090. The motherboard is the GIGABYTE Z790 UD and my PSU is the InWinClassic Basic Series CB-1250W 80+ Platinum Modular Power Supply, 1250W. This error just started happening where all my USB devices that are connected will simultaneously turn off, then restart after a few seconds (1-3 seconds max, but my headset and mouse/keyboard all turnoff.) I have a razer keyboard, mouse, mouse pad, and logitech headset, and webcam plugged in. I had a 2080 with a i9-9900k before this with all the same devices that I used and this issue never happened once till I built my new pc just a few days ago. I've tried uninstalling all the USB devices, updating the BIOS, redownloading new drivers, disabling the selective suspend settings, turning off "allow the computer to turn off this device" in device manager. Is there anything else I can try? This is rather annoying, as I'm scared to play games since it randomly occurs at different moments. I'm on windows 11 too. tldr; All USB connected devices seem to turn off and after a few seconds turn back on together Thanks
5. Hello people, First, a prelude: As an unwitting owner of a laptop with the much maligned Realtek 8821AE WIFI chip, much like most of you I ran into certain issues. Disconnects, hangs/slowdowns of the whole machine while apparently it's not doing much, inability to connect back to any 5Ghz network if I choose to manually select a network and God forbid click the 'Disconnect' button, etc., etc. I am Windows 10, updated with the latest driver from the manufacturer's website. No amount of clean installs or solutions online worked, aside from maybe using a very old driver which may or may not have performance issues too. Unfortunately, the new drivers have been uploaded to MS servers so Windows Update kindly gives them back to you. Somewhere while looking online for this for the N-th time I stumbled on some linux forums stating they too have issues, one comment of which stood out to me - PCI bus and timing issues. *insert gears moving gif* There is a particular tool called MSI mode utility v3 (*LINK*, read the thread if you have the time, its interesting and you will context for what you are doing) which allows you to easily switch between INT and MSI interrupt modes for devices on PCI lanes. By default, drivers and hardware decide which to use - WIFI chips use MSI mode (newer, better), while some GPUs still use INT mode (older, currently somewhat simulated, more compatible). Lo and behold, no more issues! For good measure, I disabled the capability of the WiFi chip to sleep too, but that by itself had no effect earlier, so the real solution is INT mode. No more hangs, no more 5Ghz issues and I can switch networks in peace. TL;DR: I switched the 8821AE from MSI mode to INT mode using the tool from the link above and this SOLVED things for me! (pic included) This is not a very small change and is reversible and is essentially a small registry tweak. It should not break your system. Still, you do this at your own risk. Comment below with your results.
6. So I've had this problem for a little while where seemingly at random my PC will disconnect all USB devices and not reconnect them. I found that the only way to fix it is just to reboot my computer, but it gets annoying after a couple times. The devices still get power, but all data transfer seems to be stopped. I can always hear the devices disconnect through my USB Bluetooth dongle which is weird, but maybe it just disconnects them one-by-one. Before you ask, yes I've tried unplugging and plugging the devices back in and yes, I've tried different USB ports, so I don't want to see any replies about that. Any help is appreciated.
7. I have a very strange problem with my network connection. If I am idle, or using the internet sparingly then my network card would disconnect from my router every few minutes. When I manually disconnect and reconnect from the network manager it gets back on the network. This does not happen every day but when it starts it doesn't stop and a restart is not helping either so it is quite nerve wrecking. I have tried reinstalling the network card driver, but the issue stays. Wired connection works perfectly but is not convenient so using it is not a solution. I checked battery saving (however its a desktop) and idle power modes and none of them provided fixed the problem. The router cannot be the problem since only this device encounters this problem on the network. My machine is a prebuilt ASUS ROG G20 with its default wifi card: Realtek 8821AE Wireless LAN 802.11ac PCI-E NIC Can you recommend any solution, or monitoring software where I could find some useful logs about the disconnections?
8. Hey everyone, I'm having a problem with both my HDD's at the moment in which they will show up in disk management so I can allocate the drives but then after a day or 2 suddenly the drives are no longer recognised by windows and I have to re-add them through disk management. Both these drives are less than 2 years old and were working fine up until about 2 weeks ago. Tried a new Sata power cable aswell as different sata ports on the motherboard. I dont think its drive failure because both started doing it at the exact same time however i've tried a couple of things including a full format of both drives and only using one of the HDD's at a time. Not sure where the problem is coming from and I'm a little out of ideas so any help would be appreciated. The two hard drives I have are a WD Blue 2TB and a Toshiba X300 4TB. I also have an M.2 but that has been performing fine. Other PC specs Asus prime x570 pro Ryzen 3800x Gigabyte 2070 Super windforce OC 4 x 8GB DDR4 Corsair RGB ram
9. I have a Surface Book 3, 13" with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 with Max-Q Design, running Windows 11 (though this was happening in Windows 10 as well). When trying to load Genshin Impact, the game will display the game's name, "Epilepsy Warnings", and then start the loading screen. As soon as the loading screen becomes visible, I hear the "device disconnection" sound, followed by Genshin crashing. Upon checking the Device Manager, I can see that the GPU has been disconnected and is no longer visible. Scanning for new devices in the manager will reconnect the GPU. I have tried reinstalling all the drivers via GeForce, tried installing them manually, and updating DirectX. Microsoft has provided zero input on this and little to no help. I have also tried forcing the "high powered graphics" via the graphics settings, and via NVIDIA control panel. I have literally no idea why it does this.
10. Alright, this one is a weird one. While running nicehash quickminer, randomly (sometimes within a few minutes, sometimes after several hours) all my USB peripherals stutter and miss inputs (acts like a polling rate of 1hz, where the mouse only updates once a second) and audio (which is over USB) turns to mostly static. This issue is usually resolved right after stopping the miner... I've tried reinstalling GPU drivers (with DDU + NVCleaninstall), reinstalling chipset and audio drivers, deleting all USB drivers in device manager and lettings windows reinstall drivers, nothing. Any Ideas? (Before I give up and reinstall windows for the idk 832? time). Edit: I actually experienced this behaviour before (however I don't remember if it was related to nicehash that time, it was caused by the thunderbolt dock from what I remember (which I'm no longer using))
11. First off, PC details. AMD Athlon 3000G (2 Core, 4 Threads, 3.4GHz Base Clock, 14nm FinFET, 5MB Cache) AMD Near-Silent Cooler MSI A320M-A Pro Max (USB 3.2 Gen 1 x4, USB 2.0 x2, Lan x1, HD Audio Connectors, HDMI + DVI-D) PNY 8GB DDR4 2666MHz X2 (1 stock, 1 self instaletted 120GB SATA III SSD (Read/Write Speed - 535/515 MB/s)\* 240GB NVME (self installed) Powercolor Red Dragon RX 470 4GB (Self installed. Given to me by my brother) FSP HD420 420W 80+ White Power Supply DeepCool Matrexx 40 Tempered Glass mATX Gaming Chasis Dell keyboard (old, taken from an old office PC, wired) Logitech Mouse (old, taken from an old office PC, bluetooth) Dual Monitor (PHILLIPS 323E7 via HDMI since it also supplies audio & a 20 inch AOC via DVI, both second hand and gifted by some communities since I'm a teacher struggling with online teaching via laptop) Now this is a custom built PC. I bought it a month ago (early May) and installed a couple of SSD's, the GPU and RAM by myself. For the first month, no problem. Runs well. Played games like Witcher 3 & Immortals Fenyx Rising with good performance (I'm a performance over graphics guy. Nintendo simp whatchu gonna do) while streaming on Twitch, edited videos pretty well and whatnot. However, a month in and a problem started occuring. I could be doing something heavy like gaming and recording on OBS, something light like watching YouTube or Netflix at 720P or less (Malaysian internet. Whatchu gonna do) or even using Microsoft word and suddenly my mouse would hang, there'd be a USB disconnect sound, the screen (or screens if I'm going dual monitor) would freeze, go blank for half a second and come back on, a reconnection sound comes back again and I can continue doing what I was doing. I've gone through everything to see what can be done. This is what I've gone through: **GPU** At first I thought it was a GPU problem since it's an old 2016 GPU (brother bought it in 2017). Got a professional cleaner to come over and clean it, got rid of GPU sag (via a squash ball can you believe it? I'm getting a small Mario figurine delivered to take over the job cause Mario is trustworthy), attached and detached it over and over again and tried to strengthen the PSU cable connection port (can't remember the name of it) with cable ties. The cleaner said the GPU, next to being slightly noisy, is fine and works pretty decently. **RAM** Originally I had 1 8GB PNY 2666MHZ ram and 1 4GB 2133MHZ ram from an unknown brand (again, given to me by the community). I got rid of the 4GB ram and got another 8GB PNY Ram. Nope, that's not the reason for the constant disconnection. **Monitor Cables** Constantly changed cables. Nope. Problem not from there. **Power** Live in a condo, bought surge protectors, nope. Not the problem. So, tired from watching a Million YouTube videos, I'm here asking LTT to help me sus it out. I've used Open Hardware Monitor, Speccy, Benchmark programs, reinstalled drivers (which I suspect is the major problem but I can't find a way to get the 17.1 driver that everybody says is the most stable for this GPU since it's a Windows 8 driver. I'm on Windows 10) and everything else under the sun from someone who's not an IT person but can follow instructions (those computer classes parents sent us when we were kids came in handy). And yes, I'm aware I could send it back to the shop that built it for me, however, A) It's 3 states to the north where I am, which is an 8 hour drive. B) Malaysian entered full Covid lockdown today, literally. Even if I could get a delivery company to send it to the shop, they wouldn't be able to fix it for months on end. I need the computer soon as a new school term starts next week and I'll be online. Suggestions, folks?
12. For the past few days my internet has not allowed me to play a certain game without disconnecting me. Before you say it’s just my pc, I can assure you it is not just my pc as my ps4 has the same problem on the same game. This internet is pretty new and the router is too so I’m at a loss here as I can’t enjoy my favorite game. My internet is not in an outage as I can go on websites with ease with little problems here and there, I can connect to the game, but can’t join matches.
13. Every time I plug in a USB device it works fine until... it tries to either read or send data between the device and my pc. It would disconnect for a couple of seconds and reconnect, and would cancel whatever its trying to do.
14. I just recently upgraded my GPU from a Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super Windforce OC 3X 8G to a EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra, and I have started getting these random USB disconnect and reconnect sounds. My current specs: CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x Mobo: MSI B450 Tomahawk Max GPU: EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra PSU: Corsair RM 850W ATX RAM: G.Skill Trident Z Neo (2 x 16GB) From my observation, it seems to happen more often when I am playing a game (Overwatch) or when I was benchmarking with 3D Mark, but I also have seen it happen when im not doing anything on the computer. It always makes a disconnect sound, and then a second later it reconnects, and then I think my graphics card starts ramping up. I have included a video: https://gfycat.com/decimalfineghostshrimp I have tried to set my PCIe Link speed to Gen 3.0 in the bios, updated my chipset drivers and have updated my graphics card driver. I am considering updating my bios, if necessary. I would appreciate the help!
15. I've never unplugged my pc & I've had it for about 2 years. I was just wondering, how do I unplug it properly without damage? I see videos where people will flip a switch on the back where the psu is and it fries their pc somehow, i also have one of these switches where it says "I" & "O", can't I just unplug the pc when it's off or is there still power in my system? I wanted to clean it and I was going to clean my thermal paste & reapply it.
16. Hi, my mouse and keyboard starts to randomly disconnect only in games since today. I've using the same setup since last year Games I've tried are CSGO & Overwatch what have I tried: 1. reinstall the driver 2. reinstall the games 3. restarting computer 4. updating firmware on mouse and keyboard 5. unplug the mouse and keyboard to another USB slot 6. reinstall windows 10 7. reinstall nvidia drivers 8. updating windows what will I try: 1. buying USB hub I also tried running benchmarking software to reproduce the issue outside games, at 99% CPU and 99% GPU my mouse and keyboard does not randomly disconnect. any help would be appreciated
17. sometimes when I play games my mouse and keyboard randomly disconnect and reconnect after some time, idk what could be the issue and just wanted to ask if anyone here knows what could be wrong and what I can do to fix it. Keyboard: Razer Blackwidow V3 Mouse: Razer Basilisk V2 update: it also happened for the first time by only watching some YT now. Sorry for posting this again btw but I hope it will get some attention this time.
18. All at once my connected devices such as, headset, mouse, keyboard, mic, and speakers will all do this "stutter" type thing. I have tested all the devices separately, uninstalled and reinstalled all drivers, updated bios to the latest version, validated all system files are working, and whipped my drives. I'm on Windows 10 64bit. As well as on a newly build PC (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/cTbmC6)
19. For a while now I have been struggling with strange USB dropouts; ranging from my keyboard no longer functioning to sometimes every USB port dropping out including the USB headers. I am not using any hubs either. This problem happens at a roll of a die, but usually happens at start up and usually if there is no activity to the impacted device (this tends to be my keyboard most times; so if I don't touch my keyboard then this issue happens). The total USB disconnect has only happened twice but still has happened more times than it should. When it does happen; it's as if both power and data have been disconnected and reconnected however nothing happens on screen and the computer seems to work as intended; not even Event Viewer will register the event. When it's only the keyboard or mouse; the power is still going to them (they are RGB devices so they still light up), but the animation to the RGB freezes until I disconnect the device and plug it back in. Now more recently, as this part is an update of sorts to the previous paragraph, using Mega to sync files from an external drive to the cloud; will cause a complete mass disconnect with all USB drives AND the onboard Bluetooth module gets disconnected. I have had the ethernet port drop out twice as well. Everything points to the motherboard, but it was doing this with the previous board as well (as I have RMAed this board before with them sending me a new one in exchange). Some forums suggest it's the z690 chipset as it is happening on Asus, MSI, and Gigabyte (so not just one specific manufacturer). Others suggest it could be a PSU or RAM issue, but after testing RAM it then doesn't seem to be the case and power doesn't seem to be the issue either as there are plenty of times the system works perfectly fine with everything connected and can last for a few days to a couple of weeks like this even under heavy usage. Update: I have done more research and have found the issue leads to an error message via Reliability Monitor: Received a "Live Kernel Event" code 144: LKD_0x144_CONTEXT_ERROR_AFTER_STALL_RESET_EP_USBXHCI!TelemetryData_CreateReport_VEN_8086_DEV_7ae0_REV_0011 This error seems to relate to the USB3.2 eXtensible Host Controller 1.20 (Microsoft). 22. I have been having this issue for a while now. I have two wifi access points just next to each other, each has different ISP. One for work(network A), one for the rest of the family to use (network B). I, for obvious reason, prefer using the network A for my devices. I still use Network B from time to time to access file from my old laptop. Network B often lost internet connection (ISP's fault) and is definitely not suitable for work use. The problem is my laptop (windows 11) keeps on jumping back to this network during work. It would not be an issue when the internet is fine, but it lost connection frustratingly often (logged the ping for a whole day, 1700ish instances of RTO, 600ish during my work hours with 12 instances of it lasted more than 3 minutes which is bad for my work). The thing is, the Connect automatically option was disabled for network B, and is turned on for Network A. I ended up "forget"-ing the network during my work hour to avoid frustration, however it's still not ideal, since I do interact with that network pretty frequently outside my work hour (streams movies from my old laptop, accessing old files, or doing the "Son, why is the internet doesn't work" stuff, etc). Does anyone ever have the same issue, or even better, have a solution for this?
23. I dont know why this is happening, my mic, mouse and keyboard are all USB and they all disconnect and then reconnect often times, and i'm losing rounds in game because of this. Now the thing is, the first time this happened few days ago, I was on BIOS v4403 and i saw that there was an update v4408, so i did update to it, but its still happening. Am i missing something? Has this been happening to anyone else? Please help!
24. Not asking for any help but I figured I’d pass along something that worked for me. I have an H115i RGB Platinum and had issues with it randomly not showing in iCue. I was also getting constant device connect/disconnect alerts from Windows. These would cause freezes in at least one game (MSFS2020) and annoy the hell out of me. The H115i was connected to a Commander Pro so I assumed that was not the issue. Turns out it was. I picked up a NZXT internal USB hub, hooked the H115i to it, and problem is solved. Hope this helps other folks with the same issue.
