I have a DX12 Radeon RX 570 as my main card but want a Radeon HD 8490 to drive a second monitor. I don’t use it for games, I’ll just use it for Zoom and web browsing. (The main card can drive a second monitor but it reduces performance) However, the 8490 only supports DX 11.2. Will that work, or will it set all of my DirectX to 11.2 for both cards?

Summary Intel's Tom Petersen and Ryan Shrout have given more performance numbers for the anticipated Arc A750 in a video released late yesterday, August 10, 2022. The performance numbers came from as many as 50 game benchmarks using the DirectX 12 and Vulkan APIs. The A750's performance in 1080p and 1440p was compared to that of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060. Quotes My thoughts For a "first" GPU this isn't too bad. If priced right, this could be a pretty decent contender for midrange builds. Problem is from many other outlets testing, the Arc A380 performed sub-par with its rivals in games based on the DirectX 11 API. Which still many games use today. Therefore testing in DX12 and Vulkan is really putting the Arc Alchemist GPU at an advantage. Going forward many games might start using these APIs, but if people want to play older games using these Intel video cards, they will have serious performance issues as shown in A380 reviews. Regardless, it seems that the A750 will see gaming performance about the same as NVIDIA's RTX 3060 in the games tested. Although, there are way more than 50 games out there, and how well the card performs in those games is yet to be seen. Nonetheless, it's still reassuring to see that the card is performing well with at least a nice chunk of games. I feel as though if these cards were released one year earlier, they really could have struck gold. It might be too little too late at this point. Despite everything, wait until independent reviewers get ahold of the card to confirm these results as manufacturers' results will put the card in the best light. Also, Intel still has a lot of time to get its driver act together. So, this might be an AMD FineWine Technology situation. For over 8 months now, Modern Warfare 2019 has been unplayable for me, sometimes i'll get lucky and it'll run for a few hours or even an entire day. The issue here is the fact that the game does not run without crashing with a "Dev Error", I used to be getting 6068 all the time but now it seems to have shifted to 5624 and 5761. I've tried basically every troubleshooting step such as: - Reinstalling drivers - Installing older drivers from around when the game was released and even before that - Completely reinstaling Windows twice - Changing CPU priority from high to normal in task manager - Running the game with "-d3d11" in additional command line arguments - Enabling and disabling XMP in my BIOS - Resetting BIOS to defaults like 15 times - Contacting support, who have only really told me to do the things ive tried - Reinstalling the game twice (over 200Gb download ) - Reinstalling DirectX from Microsoft's website - Making sure Windows and my Graphics drivers are up-to-date I'm pretty sure there's more but I dont wanna fill this post up too much. Does anyone know if this has got to do with my system or is this just the devs being incapable of fixing their game. I would greatly appreciate any help at all since this game was $60 (on sale) and I really haven't gotten my moneys worth from it, plus i'm not the only person having this problem and I wanna help others if a solution is found. Thanks. My system specs are as follows: Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Graphics Card: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 Gaming OC Pro Power Supply: Corsair TX550M Motherboard: AsRock B450M Steel Legend Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB @ 2133 MHz (XMP disabled) Storage: SanDisk SSD Plus 120 GB (Boot Drive), Seagate Barracuda 2 TB (Mass Storage) Case: Cooler Master MasterCase Pro 3

New DirectX Shader Compiler based on Clang/LLVM now available as Open Source Is making the compiler open source the same thing as making DX12 open-source? That's my presumption, here. Anyway, I figure that motivations for Microsoft to do this might include: a) Vulkan looking attractive to developers due to its open-source nature, as well as being cross-platform, and Microsoft feels they have to do more to incentivise developers to use DX12 instead of Vulkan b) DX12 games are not establishing a great track record for performance improvement, so far, with games usually losing performance in DX12 mode. And so, maybe Microsoft hopes that by making DX12 open-source, that people will start finding ways to improve DX12 implementation and effectiveness in games, and thereby increase the attractiveness of the DX12 brand, or at least prevent its luster from fading too much below its marketing hype I think that one interesting outcome of this might be that DirectX 12 support gets non-officially added to Windows 7, and Windows 8.

Hey Guys, In about 2 weeks I will start working on my Bachelor Thesis in CS. My educational background is Game Programming so I think they would like to see some relevence to game development for the thesis. Anyways, I have some ideas for what framwework I would like to work in: - NO user studies - Should be performance related - Something with DirectX 12 The scope is 15 ECTS credit points and the time span is about 3-4 months. A teacher of mine suggested to maybe look into data traversel for big scenes in DX12 (Harddisk->Memory->Graphics card). This would be relevant for something like open world games, which has become very popular amongst developers these days. Anyways, I'm really terrible at coming up with ideas.. so I hope you guys could help me with ideas or just hint at something that you think I should look into. Thanks in advance!

Right, I have been trying to figure this one out for a bit. GPU: ROG Strix GTX 1080 I have a multi screen setup. My primary screen has (ROG PG348 - UWQHD monitor -relevant?-) with gsync support. I noticed that directx 12 (and only directx 12 games) became really slow. (halting / unplayable). Weirdly: running the 3d marked advanced (witch is directx 12) is almost unwatchable but the results are not affected. These issues go away when I disable gsync... I did update to the latest nvidia drivers. With gsync on I can only run games in directx 11. Also: I have a separate windows boot to experiment: the problem seems to have been introduced in the april windows update. Older versions of windows 10 do not have the problem even with the latest nvidia driver. Suggestions anyone (besides disabling gsync?) Anybody have similar problems? thx Jo

I'm wanting to play through Deus Ex: MD for the first time on PC. I've been saving it until it was better optimised. That might never happen.... So the CPU choices from what I have lying around are: i3 3240 (3.4GHz) or FX 8320 (3.5GHz) GPU choices: gtx 970 or rx 570 cf (definitely not used for mining ) Right now the FX 8320 and RX 570 CF rig is already set up. I have a 1440p monitor and would like to play it at that resolution if possible. Anything to be gained by using the i3 or gtx 970 instead? Does DX12 make a difference for FX 8320 chip and CF? Thank you! Go Jensen!

Is there a way in windows 10 to display output to a single screen attached to a motherboard display but still utilize the processing power of the DGPU in a desktop environment?

Hey i was wondering do you guys think that a gamer looking for maximum amount of fps in future games (until next upgrade in 3-4 years) should buy a lower clocked hexa core cpu instead of a higher clocked quad core, or do you think a higher clocked quad core will still be better? As far as i know most games cant use more than 4 cores, however with directx 12 using more than 4 should be possible right? I do not know how far adoption of directx 12 has spread or how far it will likely spread so would love to hear your opinions. (The cpu´s i have in mind is a i7 5820k and a 6700k).

Hey, I was wondering if there are benchmarks available to compare things like: 2x 980Ti - SLI 2x 980Ti - Dx12 Multi GPU 2x Fury X - Crossfire 2x Fury X - Dx12 Multi GPU 980Ti + Fury X - Dx12 Multi GPU Would like to see which composition performs better and how good Dx12 Multi GPU really is, but haven't found much about it. Only good comparison I found so far.

AMD Driver disables Directx 12 and enables only 11.3
generalgehant posted a topic in Troubleshooting
I am using an XFX R9 390 along with a fresh install of windows 10, so I should have directx 12, right? When running dxdiag it says i have directx 11.3. I know for nvidia cards, the main problem was MSAA in the control panel. So i thought that I should try uninstalling the radeon driver to see if the version would change. With the Radeon driver uninstalled, dxdiag says I have directx 12. After reinstalling the driver, it goes back down to 11.3 again. Does anyone know why or where this is happening in the Radeon settings? I really want to run 3d mark using directx 12, but it crashes because of this. I also want to try the new version of dolphin emulator with dx12 support, but it gives me an error and doesn't run. Radeon settings version: 2016.0226 (16.2.1) Driver packaging version: 15.301 Specs: i5-6600k ASRock z170 Extreme 4 XFX R9 390 Thanks-

[UPDATE] http://wccftech.com/amd-nvidia-gears-of-war-ultimate-broken/ It looks like they already failed to my great displeasure and sadness for the platform. Gears of War Ultimate edition is one of the most broken game releases ever, it fails to deliver on the promise of an unlocked frame rate, good performance, and multi gpu support. It also suffers from considerable visual corruption, no g-sync support, and extremely variable performance especially on AMD cards. Warning: Large image According to WCCF Tech, the game suffers from extreme stuttering and variable performance. Here is a small list of issues compiled by WCCF Tech showcasing the issues the game is plagued with. According to PC Gamer http://www.pcgamer.com/gears-of-war-ultimate-edition-gets-off-to-a-rocky-start/ Despite all this they seem to have been unable to release a working product. Even without a public release date as this title has just randomly been dropped on us. ORIGINAL POST: http://www.pcgamer.com/microsoft-promises-to-improve-the-windows-store/ So, the other day we had a sensationalist headline that implied Microsoft was leaving the Windows store with it's issues such as no v-sync toggle, no SLI support as well as various other settings. Well, this was unfounded and never actually the case. Microsoft have reaffirmed they are committed to improving the Windows store on Windows 10. Currently This is unsurprising, Phil Spencer as well as other Windows and Xbox officials have been saying for a while that they are aware of the problems to the store at the moment and are working to fix them, this has been posted on reddit before and it's clearly not something they were considering leaving if they wanted a chance at being competitive in the market.

Quantum Break is apparently coming to the PC, and it is gonna have DirectX 12. Source
-
Quantum Break is confirmed to be coming to Windows 10 on April 5th. The minimum and recommended specs have been released and both show DX12. Will this be the first complete title with DX12 support? Will be interesting to see how much performance and detail we'll get from the game http://www.gamespot.com/articles/quantum-break-pc-version-confirmed/1100-6434694/

I recently upgraded to Windows 10 Pro from Windows 7 Pro for the main reason of getting better performance in games thanks to DirectX 12. So I launched up Farcry 3 and a couple of other games and there's no option for DirectX 12 only 11 or 9 so could someone explain to me why, is it because the games don't support it or what?
-
So recently Windows been giving free Windows 10 upgrades along with DirectX 12 update, and I know that its still new and some software and games have some compatibility issues (In rare cases). So my questions are: 1.) Does Windows 7 and 8.1 support DirectX 12? 2.) Since I upgraded to Windows 10 and decided to revert to Windows 8.1 does my copy of Windows still valid? (After the installation of Windows 10 I accidentally deleted the files of my old os using CCleaner) I still got the installation cd of Windows 8.1. 3.) Widows 10 is free to Windows 7 also, my laptop is 4 years old now and I am wondering if upgrading to Windows 10 will have a significant performance increase or it will only have some issues? (Cortana don't support the area I am currently living though) Laptop specs: CPU: Intel Core i7 2670QM 2.20 GHz RAM: 8gb HDD: Toshiba 750gb GPU: Geforce GT 540M 2gb Thanks in advance.

Hey *btw sorry for my english* so im planning to start a new build the last year im into game developing and this is what i want to study in 2 years the last 3 months im developing a game for my school project and i got some problems cause of the slow render, the high temperatures, the noise and all of this while having an i7 4820K and a h100i i want a build to last for 5-6 years and perform well my budget is not limited so i figured out 3 different builds for cpus i choose xeon more cores than 5960X and i dont loose any performance on games the problem is the gpu i want to have cuda cores but in the same time open gl the only gpus that give me this option are quadro but i loose much in gaming so here comes directx 12 and gives me the chance to go on a hybrid nvidia/amd machine 1st build 2x Intel Xeon E5 2650 V3 Asus Z10PE-D16 WS 32 GB of ddr4 RAM @2400MHz 2 GTX980 kingpin edition 2 r9 290x2 (or 390X) i choose the kingping edition because if u see the motherboard has 6pci lanes that are close and if u add one card you cant use the next pci lane and in the end you will have 3 pci lanes to use the kingpin card as linus said if it gets watercooled it only takes one pci slot on the motherboard and leaves space for a quad gpu orientation 2nd build *the linus extreme build* An Intel Xeon 2699 v3 Asus Rampage V 32GB of ddr4 RAM @2400Mhz 2 Gtx Titan X 2 r9 290x2 (or 390X) 3rd build 2x Intel Xeon E5 2650 V3 Asus Z10PE-D16 WS 32 GB of ddr4 RAM @2400MHz 2 GTX Titan X 1 r9 290x2 (or 390X) what build is the best for my needs? how much power will i need? any prefs for the case? thank you for your time

I took a screenshot of this at the end of the DirectX 12 video on AMD's YouTube channel. What does it mean? Specifically the top part. Below is the video.

Do you think the r9 390x or the gtx 980 would be fastest. A lot of people say that amd hardware will benefit very much from the new api but what do you guys think?
-
Will directx 12 benefit lower end cpus like the Intel G3258? Saving up for a new PC with the g3258 and GTX 750 ti for gaming, I won't mind the low graphics as long as I have 60 fps. This is all i have money for right now and I will upgrade later.
