Hello all, just looking to get some help here regarding my R9 290. I've had it for around two months, and knowing it's a toasty card; I've been using afterburner to ramp the fans up a bit more to compensate compared to the card stock settings which would let the card get to 95 degrees and I wasn't comfy with that. Well, under 70% fan speed, the fans sound fine like no personal complaints on my end. However, recently a concern has started where if the fans go above 70% an extremely audible and annoying clicking noise would emanate from the card. I removed the card from my system and manually spun each fan by hand just to kind of see if I could figure out whether it was something I could replicate in that way; and I believe it is the fan closest to the I/O for the card giving me issues. Upon spinning it, very faintly I could hear remnants of that clicking noise, as if possibly a fan bearing going bad or something. The other fan made no sound at all upon spinning it by hand. As suspected, Asus's only option for me is to RMA the card, which is not optimal for me considering this is my only video card and I must have this machine to complete my school work; and I have removed the stock cooler to apply a better dose of thermal compound rendering my warranty void anyways. I was unable to find anyone selling the same cooler on Ebay, and currently I don't have the funds to liquid cool my card; so I was wondering if anyone on here would be able to suggest a route to potentially fix my issue? I've looked at brackets such as the G10 but have been unable to determine if it would fit on my card. I greatly appreciate any ideas or thoughts though, kind of irritated at this because I've resorted to under-clocking the card to stock 290 settings in order to keep the fan speeds down as well as the temperature of the card.

So basically, this is my GPU - I've had it for a little over 3 years and it's been doing this the whole time. I'm looking at upgrading to the Gigabyte 970 G1 and basically my question is: Do Gigabyte cards sag much? (I only just put everything into this new case yesterday.)

A 290X DCII I got a month back started making rattling noise recently. Touching and holding the plastic shielding stops the noise and I can feel intense vibration. The second 290X DCII card I have installed doesn't have any vibration at all when I touch it's plastic shielding. I have taken it out and tighten the screws right under the two fans. This helped the rattling noise go away but the vibrating is still there. About a week after my simple fix the rattling noise came back. So again I took it out, tighten the screw, and placed it back in. Rattling noise fixed but again the vibration is still there. Does anyone know any permanent fix? Or is my only choice is to return it? I really don't want to return it though, the chip itself is pretty good. Runs cool and seems to overclock well. If someone knows a permanent fix that would be very helpful. Thanks!

I ran Unigine Valley 1.0 at 1080p DX11 with Ultra settings, 0x MSAA, 16X AF. w/ i7 4770K @ 3.5 GHz, for more info, look at sig. I ran my ASUS GeForce GTX 770 at 1010 Boost Clock and Mem. clock at 5510 MHz. FPS: 71.0 - Score: 2970 - Min FPS: 23.9 - Max FPS: 142.4 Then default settings, my GFX is OC Edition, so the GPU clock is 1111 MHz, Mem. Clock at 7010. FPS: 79.8 - Score: 3341 - Min FPS: 32.5 - Max FPS: 145.9 1st Test Temp.: 37C - 71C, Ave. 68 2nd Test Temp: 38C - 69C, Ave. 66 My theory is that since the speeds are lower, the GPU is stressed out more causing more heat? I underclocked it since I don't need it to go higher than 60 FPS (60 Hz monitor).

I am building a new rig it will be air cooled except the cpu witch will be cooled by a h100i but i was wondering about the heat output of the asus vs ereference because the reference pushes air out of the case and the asus cards put air in the case witch one would you suggest this is the build im planning to make thanks for your advice. Plan on OC'ing my 770, I have the Asus Direct CU II version. The max voltage offset gpu tweak allows with stock bios is 13 bring max voltage up to 1.213v. How far should I push voltage whilst keeping card longevity in mind? Thanks

Corsair and Asus have said before they work close together in developing pc equipment and hardware. so why did you make the New corsair 250D (no compromises) to small ?? i mean the most popular graphics card from asus is the 780 - 780ti - 290 - 290x with the Direct CU II cooler and all of these are to tall for the case couldnt you just have made the case 1 Cm taller and it would all fit.... Gosh Darnit Corsair i really wanted this case but unfortuanly for me i own a GTX 780 Direct CUII.

So, I'm building my first gaming pc and I can't choose between these cards. Also, should I get the windforce edition from gigabyte or the direct cu ii from saphire?

Resurrection Thank you everyone for 1,200 views in four days it makes me very happy that so many people are interested in my desk! Yes there are a growing amount of desk builds on the forum but they are all different but mine will be the most different. Since the main building of the desk is done i will turn my attchen to water cooling this beast Bellow are my plans that i have for the water cooling parts fell free to suggest other parts and give reasons why the part is better. Ram I am not planing to water cool the ram but i may change my mind. I have never made a water cooled system before so im not 100% sure on the parts I will not buy all the parts at once i will probally get enough for cooling the cpu first then the gpu later since the gpu is quiet its an asus direct CUII 660ti. This is the first time I build myself a desktop, after my laptop started acting up and crashing I figured the it was as good a timeas any to ditch the gaming laptop and build a proper gaming machine, the laptop is an ASUS G73JH for those who might want to know. Component List: -NZXT Switch 810 -ASUS M5A99X R2.0 -AMD FX-8350 -Antec Kuhler H20 920 -Kingston HyperX Black series 8GB DDR3-1600 (2x4GB) -Corsair HX650 -ASUS GeForce GTX 660 OC DirectCU -ASUS PCE-N15 wireless card -Razer BlackWidow keyboard -Logitech G600 mouse -Sleaving was done with 550 Paracord -Seagate momentus 750GB 7200rpm Hybrid drive -Currently using a Samsung HDTV monitor, it has 5ms refresh rate and 50000:1 dynamic contrast. It works for me and saved me some money so I could buy some better hardware I ordered all my parts from NCIX.com except for the Paracord. Total running cost is approximately about $1400 after shipping and taxes. I had her running on a box for about a week because the case had to be shipped from further away then the rest of the components. I just couldn't sit and wait for the case to come in to start playing with my new toy. I just finished getting all the sleaving done and getting everything installed in the case last night and I am pretty happy with the results. This is a recent picture of my system now that I have installed some cold cathodes, 2 blue ones, one in the top and one in the bottom along with a green one in the bottom. I also bought myself a new monitor as well. Very happy with the end result.
