Hi. This is the first time i am doing a pc upgrade for myself, and i am looking for some information, help and advice. I plan to do my upgrades in segments, firstly CPU, motherboard and memory where i will start of with 16GB and upgrade that to more in the end if needed. Then at a later time i want to do a storage upgrade . And when graphics cards are available again i am going to get that last, preferably a RTX 3070 of some kind for the games. So for my first upgrade i am wondering what kind of performance boost i could expect to see from a newer CPU, motherboard and memory alone before the full upgrade is done, GPU and all. My computer is exclusively used for gaming. No streaming or other heavy workloads. For reference here is a list of the games i play the most (Runescape, Trackmania 2020, The Witcher 3, Battlefield 4, Valheim and Total war games) Would i even notice a game performance boost from CPU and memory upgrade alone in titles like these, or does that only come from a GPU upgrade? I know some of those games could almost run of a potato, but i would like my desktop to handle the heavier titles well. specially battlefield 2042 when it comes in the future. Preferably i would like setting from the high medium range to high with decent frame rates on a 1440p 144hz monitor. Also if this info is enough for an educated tip from any potential readers. What CPU makes most sense for me to go for, the i5-11600 or i7-11700. Or something totally different maybe? PC specs before upgrade. Im building my first pc within the next month or two, but I still havent decided what processor to get. I am going with AMD because its cheaper and provides more cores so if I do stream and play at the same time, that will help. BUT what the difference between the rysen 7 2700, the ryzen 2700x, the ryzen 7 1800x and the ryzen 7 1700x? Why should I choose one of the other for what I want to do?

I recently switched from Corsais H80i AIO water cooling system, to a Noctua U12S, and noticed some interesting differences I'm curious to know the reason behind. So when my computer was idle during the AIO, it stayed below 32 constantly and went up to 60-65 during load. With the air cooling system it sits around 45-50 idle and very close to it at 60 during load. Why is the idle temp so high compared to the water cooling AIO? Did I apply the paste properly, so that the whole surface area is covered? Or is this a normal trend when air cooling? Thanks in advance!

Are there any differences between running an FPS cap/limit and Vsync if both are set to the same value? As a side note, I was searching around and saw someone say: "you should set it to 121 or 119 so it doesnt sync up. Also you will not get flickering at 120hz." Why wouldn't you want your GPU and display to sync up??

Been bouncing between Reddit and Forums but just wanted another opinion in the next week or so. Like I said before I am upgrading from a FX 6300 build to either Haswell or Skylake for gaming/livestreaming but I want to spend the least amount possible. I figured Skylake would justified its price but it seems like at most 5% difference between the two platforms. The only thing that I would find useful in Skylake is USB Type C since I recently bought a Nexus 5X earlier this month and plug directly into it. Also I would need to buy different ram even though I am perfectly fine with my 16GB DDR3 1866mhz ram. So if someone can help me compare Skylake vs Haswell that would be helpful. Thanks.

I get really confused when it comes to motherboards, because they come with so many features. So I decided to post here to get some helpful feedback about which motherboards are said to be the best for gamers. My final verdict is a debate between the Asus ROG Maximus VIII Hero and the MSI X99A gaming 7 ATX. I created 2 builds on PC part picker. Which one would be the better option? Maybe even there is a 3rd option I'm unaware of. I don't quite understand that.

I'm bored and I can't sleep... I guess I'll write about a few of the changes (improvements?) corsair made to this mouse that aren't pointed out on corsair's website, nor on other sites. Note: I wear a size 9 (large) glove where I work, and primarily use a claw-style grip with my mouse. My hands aren't huge, but definitely not small. The original m65 fit my hand wonderfully, aside from the fact that the sniper button was positioned poorly. With my hand in the ideal position to press the side-mounted front and back buttons, pressing the sniper button was awkward, and the only way to use it in gameplay without adjusting my hand necessitated pressing the rearmost edge of it (I blame this for the button becoming mushy on one side over time). In a position that made the sniper button comfortable to press, hitting the two additional side buttons became awkward- one of which requiring my thumb to be bent sharply rearward. Not quick and certainly not comfortable. The new mouse seems to address that issue well, as it positions the sniper button further back in order to keep all of the buttons on the left side easily accessible. Aside from this, it seems as though the two models are identical dimension-wise. As far as button functionality goes, the DPI selector buttons positioned behind the scroll wheel allow 5 dpi settings to be stored to the device, as opposed to 3 on the original. The selection indicator on the original featured 3 blue led 'bars' that lit up depending on whether you had setting 1, 2, or 3 selected- simple and easy. The new RGB model uses a single color-coded LED to indicate your selection, which I found to be less than ideal. By default, all 5 settings are assigned sharply contrasting colors- which makes it easy to tell which setting you're using at a glance (if you can remember which ones are higher, medium, and lower), but if you're going for a color coded theme, they become a bit of an eyesore. That is, if you notice them at all in the first place. The colors can all be changed via the updated corsair utility engine software- completely different software than what is used for the original m65. As far as RGB functionality, I mean... It's there. You can set all kinds of fading and gradient effects. Like on the original m65, the LED surrounding the scroll wheel is barely noticeable. You pretty much have to be looking directly at it in a dark room with the monitor off to notice it. The RGB LED on the rear of the mouse is much more noticeable... when you aren't using the mouse. The only problem I've had with the new mouse is solely RGB related. Storing chosen colors and effects worked well, as did storing my different DPI profiles. The problem is that occasionally after a restart or after waking up from sleep mode, the LEDs will not function even with the software already running in the background. Going into the software and turning the LEDs on and off does nothing. DPI settings work, just no LEDs. I was searching for an AM3+ moatherboard that has decent overclooking ability and crossfire support for dual R9 280x and my budget was $80-$140... And I came acros these two and I am not shure what the differences are... I know the cheapest out of the two say one picE slot runs at x16 and the other slot on it runs at x8 and so I don really want to buy that one cuz I don't want to be held back in cross fire! But then the other board I can't find anything about and so I hope the pciE slots on it both run at x16. So I am asking if you can pleas help me find out if the more exspenceve one runs both pci E slots at x16 and other differences. P.S. Hi, I was just wondering if there were any key differences between the S5 and the S5 4G+ in software, I know in hardware it has a 805 instead of the 801, but everything is the same, but I am not sure for the software, now this is for my mother as she wants to buy an S5 because she likes touchwiz because it is easier for her to use, so I was wondering, are there any key software differences? So, I want a Mechanical Keyboard & like the look of the Ducky, never had a mech before, kind of want Red switches as they are "best" for gaming?. Hello all, So I've been looking at CPUs, and trying to make some decisions. I'm looking at extreme editions, and I'm curious of the differences between them. I'm not looking for why extreme editions are bad, or overpriced. Just looking for what's different. 3970x vs 4960x both are Six core CPUs, the 4960x is clocked .1ghz higher from the box, with the same turbo. 4960x has a slightly (20w) lower TDP, and is made from the 22nm vs the 32nm. So, besides running a tad cooler (in theory based on TDP), is there a real difference? Or is it just a dye shrink, with no performance boost? And the 59_0x (whatever it'll be called.), has been said to be an 8 core CPU, is that so? (Any references would be nice.) Besides the additional cores, will there be much else different? More cache? Lower TDP (or higher?) Help appriciated
