My GPU: Radeon RX 590 Sapphire Nitro + Greetings, yesterday morning my GPU froze twice. The first time a restart fixed it, but after the restart I couldn't open AMD software saying that its not compatible with the driver. I continued on but after about an hour it froze once more and this time after the reset my monitor resolution was messed up and my both screens displayed the same image and I still couldn't open AMD software. My monitor is still connected through the GPU and its lights/fans are still working, but the only place I can see that it's connected is in Device Manager. Other than that in Task Manager and User benchmark it shows me that I don't have a dedicated GPU. So far I've tried reinstalling drivers and installing updates, but nothing has fixed the issue yet. The GPU is only about to be 3 years old. Now that I think it might have crashed it brings back memories of times when it was acting weird. For example, according to AMD I'm supposed to run Shadow of The Tomb Raider at 1080p max settings with around 69 FPS, but last time I played I was getting sub 30 FPS on min-medium settings. Would like to know how can I make sure it has truly died, since from the outside it seem still functional and It does show up on Device manager as an display adapter.

Hey guys! Today, from one day to another, my pc just won't boot with my Kingston A400 240gb SSD. I booted my computer with another hard drive and checked what happened with the ssd. In diskpart, it doesn't show up, in HDD Sentinel it shows this ps3111 (the picture). Do you guys have any idea, what could have happened and if there is any possibility to recover the data from it? Thanks in advance!

Hey guys, I‘m new to this Forum and desperately need your help. Yesterday, I connected a new HDD to my computer. When I reconnected the cable of my PSU and tried to boot my computer, it didn‘t Turn on whatsoever. Only my keyboard and mouse have blinking LEDs as long as the PC is connected to an Outlet. My First thought was to take out the HDD I had just installed, which wasn‘t fixing the error. I‘ve also tried other troubleshooting steps like waiting 2 hours with the PSU Switch set to off and Power disconnected, replacing my MoBo cr2032 battery, trying to Remove all drives and even swapping out my graphics Card. I‘ve also tried disconnecting and reconnecting the 24pin MB connector and swapping RAM sticks. All of the steps above didn‘t help. Since I am a photographer and videographer, i Need a PC to edit and earn money. Do you guys think my Motherboard/PSU is Fried? My System has Been running Just Fine for about 8 years now. Thanks for helping a PC Noob out. Specsheet: Intel I7 3820 AsRock x97 MB 16Gb LPX 1600mhz RAM GTX 1050ti Samsung 860 250Gb SSD Bequiet Bronze plus 500 Watt Dark ‘something‘ PSU Windows 10 Pro latest update

Hi There! I always come on her to find basic answers but this time, it's a posting time situation . I bought a i7 3930K + Asus Sabertooth x79 Motherboard, with a Asetek Water Cooler pre-installed for around $300CAD, to upgrade my girlfriends FX-8120 Gaming Rig. Basically upon buying it(Obviously used), he said it came out of storage. Showed me it booting it up into windows, and I was like stupidly, seeing all the components working and booting into a drive, I was set and bought it. Upon bringing it home and setting it up in a new case, began all the problems. So installing it wasn't much of an issue, I took of the cooler, and cleaned the CPU in the socket, and cleaned the cooler, and reapplied it with new thermal paste(Arctic Brand). I booted it into BIOS and seen the Temps keep jumping into the high 60's, and then stable out at 70C. I turned it off, and began to do research on if I applied the thermal paste properly and or if the fan/rad configuration was correct. With that said, I booted into windows and it then jumped to 80-85, so I turned it off completely. The next day(Today as of posting) I came to the conclusion that it was obviously the CPU cooler, I reset the BIOS, and while the battery was out I went to the local computer store where they still do curbside pickup, and bought a Cooler Master Hyper 212, and here's where things get crazy. After ONLY switching the cooler out, not touching the RAM, the CPU(again at this point, still never taken out of the socket), the computer won't even boot/post(I still don't know the difference), basically it won't boot even into the BIOS. I've tried reseating the RAM, reseating the CPU(At this point I've taken it out), checked, and no bent or broken pins, the points of contact on the CPU looks fine(I was super scared I cracked the CPU or something by putting the CPU Cooler, but it doesn't seem I did), RAM I tested in the older build, as well as the the PSU, which I've tried a spare as well. I've tried like almost everything myself and a couple friends can think of. I currently have two leads; - After I installed the motherboard the first time, and releasing after what the problem was, I unbolted it, from the case. In doing so, one of the standoffs seem to have came off from the case and is stuck to the bolt from the motherboard. I've read that sometimes standoffs like this COULD be something, not sure any information on this would be super awesome. - Secondly, my friend is searching for his case speaker(the 2-pin one), so I can get the Beep Code, and figure out from there what is going on. I really don't know what to do here, as the motherboard light IS on, but I've also read that that doesn't really mean much and I shouldn't really trust the light. I also didn't man-handle the CPU(I'm super super careful), also no cracks or loud noises when doing the cooler. I didn't do this on carpet I did this on hardwood flooring, but the PC was on carpet when used but not open so I don't see how this matters. I don't think he sold me a bunked system because it did boot into windows on his and MY side. I think it ran real hot because the CPU cooler died, while it was in storage, not sure about that situation but. And before anyone says anything YES I checked ALL connections multiple times, THOROUGHLY. With COVID going on, I can't really test it anywhere, nor can I really justify, spending more $$ if it's already lost cause, I wouldn't mind spending ALITTLE more but yeah. I hope someone can help me, ill answer any questions I can answer, thank you for reading, and have a great day! Hope everyone stays safe out there!

Tried to overclock my Sapphire Nitro+ RX 480 using AMD's Wattman. After a few random shutdowns while benchmarking (Heaven), the system is totally not working with the GPU plugged in, but with it not connected, my motherboard is able to light up the CPU fan and chassis fans. Please help!(Don't think I can afford a new GPU) Specs: Asus X370 Pro Ryzen 1700 Coolermaster V650 Sapphire Nitro+ RX 480 4GB Corsair Vengeance 16GB 3200Mhz EDIT: Just wanna add that I have already tried resetting my CMOS

Hey guys, Hoping someone can help me out here or may have had a similar problem. So my Seagate 1.5TB HDD just died. It went slow all of a sudden and then I started copying files off it (slowly) and left my computer, and came back to it having restarted and had errors (page file was on it). Now it slows my computer when its turned on and accessed, sometimes makes the screen blue (not BSOD) and taskbar disappear, but fixes itself if the drive is switched off. Its been coming up as 'Local Disk' with no partitions and not accessable, and when click the safely remove hardware button freezes until the drive is turned off. Now the drive has come up as 'Data' not 'Local Disk' but when opening it, just has the progress bar never finish. Have also tried it on another computer and same problem. Now my question is, does this sound like a mechanical fault or a controller fault? It does not make any extra noises or clicking, and the motor still spins up at the same speed. I have found a controller for my model (ST31500341AS) for $30, but not sure if its worth buying. I do have a backup of it, but its not recent and I actually cant remember if anything important is on it (try to use other drives for that). EDIT: It is working enough now to get a screenshot of the SMART Info. I have attached it. The Reallocated Sector Count is terrible Thanks in advanced, Jarrod

So a few days ago i was playing cs:go for 80-90 minutes and suddenly screen gone blank and pc shut down. Then i waited for time and tried powering it on again, no luck.. pc wont start. Then i removed gpu and tried to start pc on igpu, it started normally and everything was working fine. After reinserting the gpu, it wont start. I also tried to start system with gpu inserted but power connected to gpu, still it doesnt work. Seems that gpu is not allowing the system to even start. So far here's what i've tried: Starting pc without gpu - working Cleaned gpu and motherboard with isopropyl alcohol Reapplied thermal paste on cpu as well as gpu Reseated ram, cpu, hdd Tried gpu in other system - not working Starting system with gpu in but no power connection to gpu - not working PC Specs: CPU - Intel i5 4440 MOBO - Gigabyte GA D3H RAM - Corsair Vengeance 4GB x 2 GPU - Sapphire R9 280X Dual-X PSU - Seasonic M12 520Watts

Hey All, I built my first PC about 6 months ago with the help of this great community, everything works great except for an occasional 'Critical Process Died' crash. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for when it crashes, for example it will sometimes crash just sitting idle, other times when gaming or rendering graphics. Sometimes it will crash 4-5 times a day, other times it can go a full day or so without a crash, And I've tried everything I can think of over the last few months to no avail... Here's a list of the things I've tried: New Operating System, (Crashes on both Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.) Different Graphics Card, same Issue on both the GTX 970 and 980Ti. New Ram. Different Hard drive. Here are my Specs: Motherboard: Asus Z9pe-d8 ws CPU: 2x E5-2670 GPU: 980Ti Ram: Samsung DDR3 64gb 1600Mhz ECC Operating System: Windows 10 Pro Let me know if any more specs would be helpful, and if you know of any other tests etc to try? Thanks for any help! Steve

I was mid game in rainbow six siege when all of a sudden the game froze and only displayed red green and blue colored pixels so I restarted my PC. When I booted it up again the resolution randomly changed to 800x600 from 1920x1080 so I changed it back to 1920x1080. When I did the screen had a bunch of white lines everywhere. I tried updating drivers as well reinstalling them completely. When I opened 3D mark it said I had no compatible benchmarks as my system did not have enough vram. I don’t know if my 2080 died and need help fixing whatever went wrong.

Hi everyone, the other week my pc stopped booting, so I took it to a repair shop and they found that (attached image) there is a oil like substance on the heatsink of the chipset, there also seems to be a bit leaking through to the back of the board via that screw. I have since replaced the board and everything works fine. Have even looked over my GPU and it is fine. EDIT: forgot question - what would the substance be from? thank you for any help guys

My PSU just displayed magic sparks and died. Its a little older than 2 years old setup, about a year ago I upgraded the last component, the gpu from 270 to a 290. Was it wrong of me to think that the Cooler Master g650m could handle my components or is it something else? Inside there is a AMD Combo 8350 + MSI 290 Gaming, none of it was overclocked at the time. Visualy it looks fine now, too afraid to plug it back in. But it was loud, I could even hear it with my headphones on and it was like a firework, room is filled with smoke.

hello, i have a computer , and yesterday when i tried to turn on the computer, but suddenly no reacts, the pc is still off with no sign of life. so i tested the PSU, and the PSU worked fine (using paperclip attach to greencable with black cable, and the system fan went online.) so it means my mobo is dead? I've tried unplug ATX and 24pin but nothing. No beeps too. and after that i noticed something weird, here : notice something a small liquid at 2 black chips near pci ex? near PCH word, you'll see some sparkling liquids. here too, near PSU. its feel like oily thing. but i never put anything near my pc, so no liquid spills....

A few days ago I Spring cleaned my room and removed my computer and placed it in a different room. The next day I brought my computer back, plugged it in and saw that my back fan had stopped spinning. I then did the usual thing of turning it off then on again, then it started to spin but as I went on it for a few minuets it then stopped spinning again. So I'm stuck in this endless route of turning it off, then it works and then it stops spinning again. What should I do to fix it?

I was on a trip and I disconnected my PC from a power source on a few days, when I came home and plug my PC to the power I noticed that my CPU fan was spinning but very slowly, when I press the power button nothing happens and when I keep it pressed CPU fan still spins, so far I know that my motherboard is dead because I tried to power it up manually(Screwdriver method) and changed the PSU that was powering it but somehow all fan headers on my motherboard work when motherboard is plugged to the PSU, has anyone encountered anything like this? share your strange PC deaths down below

Hi, a few months back one of my HDD's died, called E:\, now when I try to install certain programs (Nvidia drivers and 7zip off the top of my head) the install fails and it gives me an error to do with the broken HDD E:\, which has since been removed and gone. Does anyone know a permanent solution to this problem? I can solve it temporarily by using command prompt and typing "subst E:\ C" but that only lasts until I boot next, and the programs seem to go after that. I'm assuming it's something to do with my registry, but no luck with any cleaners such as CCleaner. I don't want to have to do a fresh install, my copy was OEM N edition, and I don't have a disk or anything. Any help would be great, thanks.
