So I just bought the laptop in title and noticed it is not using dgpu (RTX2060) in games. I’m getting around 30-60 fps in games with a tender latency being around 70 ms (very high). I tried all the nvidia options that should make the laptop use dgpu but nothing. I tried fumark bench the gpu and I get 30-40 fps. Then I decided to use heaven benchmark using the dx11 option and everything on highest settings. The result was 110-150 fps, and render latency was by some miracle 5-7 ms. No stuttering or anything. In the games completely different results. My guess is that there is something wrong with Optimus since I don’t have mux switch. Did anyone have some problem like this?

"System" task is constantly waking up my dgpu. Every 3s it changes from "gpu 0 3d" to "gpu 1 copy" in task manager which ends us in disgusting battery performance. Hw monitor shows that gpu jumps from 1w to 11-16 wats when system does it. I have done reinstalls, power plans, battery checks. I don't believe that laptop with the most efficent power plan with 42kwh battery can discharge in 1,5 hours if im lucky and having max 1 site open when the producer says that it can do 5h of light tasks. Also i can't test what would happen if i killed system because win won't let me do it. ps the intel igpu is not overworked, 20-30% max load Gpu model: 1660ti maxq system: win 10 laptop model; hp pavilion gaming 15 cpu 10300h

So I was troubleshooting some errors with my laptop not entering Eco-Mode and one of the steps was to run the command (Get-WmiObject -Namespace Root/WMI -Class AsusAtkWmi_WMNB).DEVS(0x00090020, 1) And now it doesn't show up in the device manager, not even when I tell it to show hidden devices. Does MSI H510M-A Pro support multiple graphics outputs to run both iGpu and dGpu at the same time? I want to use my i5 10400 iGpu for my second monitor but dont know if my motherboard supports this feature?

My laptop(MSI GF65)with an RTX 3060 and an Core i7-10750H always uses its dedicated GPU to display. This makes the laptop very power hungry making it last about 1.5-2 hours on a full charge, which is very unacceptable. I'm pretty sure this is software side issue as I didn't have this when I got the laptop for the first time. Also, when you turn on the laptop and it starts on the iGPU then switches to the dGPU as soon as windows is up. This issue apart from draining the battery, it also heats up the laptop significantly. I can understand which GPU is the laptop using by looking at the color of the light on the powerbutton. White for iGPU and red/orange for the dGPU. Things I have tried so far: 1. Reinstalling the dragon centre 2. Toggling settings in the Nvidia Control Panel and Display settings in the windows settings 3. Disabling, reenabling the dGPU from the device manager. Although the disabling was reflected in the Task Manager, it didn't change the light to white, even after restarting. This gave me a doubt if the software controlling the light has some kind of bug, but i have noticed both GPUs being used simultaneously when opening an application like the browser.

Mainboard of a "HP EliteDesk 800 G4 Mini" (review: https://www.servethehome.com/hp-elitedesk-800-g4-mini-tinyminimicro-guide-review/) The Port is labeled as "P214 DGPU", and it looks like there are traces that go directly to the CPU. I cannot find the name or specs of the Port, can anyone help out?

Hi there, My notebook is thinkpad x1 extreme gen3(10750h+gtx1650ti,single 16GB dram, 4k hdr builtin screen) . There are 2 type-c ports and 1hdmi port, and a 4k monitor is connected with a typec to dp cable(or hdmi2.0 cable). If both built-in screen and external screen are set to 4k60hz, the 3D usage rate of the igpu(intel uhd 630) is close to 100%, and then there will be frame drops and lag. If both are set to 1080p 60hz, it's ok, after checked the task manager, I found that both igpu and dgpu are working. Obviously, the outpur is rendered by 1650ti, and finally output by igpu to the external screen. Now I wonder if there is a way to connect the dgpu 1650ti directly to an external screen without going through the igpu. After checking the bios, there is no option to switch gpu for the typec port or hdmi port, please help! Thanks.

I stumbled onto a couple of old FirePro V4900 that was about to be discarded, but decided to take it for myself. My dad has a rebuilt Dell Optiplex 790 (Core i5-2500, 8GB RAM, SSD+HDD, Ubuntu) where I transplanted it onto an old Cooler Master (circa 2013; probably N300). I put one of the GPUs there (cuz why not?). He primarily just watches videos on it (YouTube, Netflix, Crave, etc.). I figure the GPU might be able to help the CPU out in the long run (by reducing the stress), giving that PC a little more life. I'm now wondering if my assumption is correct?

Is there a way to "turn off" my dGpu while only browsing the web etc? I opened msi afterburner on my aorus 17kgd laptop, and noticed my dgpu keeps clocking up and down, even while its not beeing used. Ive set the dgpu controle in nvidia to normal power, its either that or maximum performance, and ive also set the power management of the dgpu in the aorus controle center to nvidia gpu boost mode. So that in theory it should be turned off? As of now its consuming 20w off power while doing nothing, which imo is a lot. Also for some reason my cpu seems to run at max clock speed even while on balanced power mode in windows. This is all while the laptop is plugged in the charger.

So I recently got a laptop and instead of advertised 5-8h battery life it barelly squeezing 2. I've noticed dGPU is always on (orange light on power button instead of white). Well, I went down the rabbit hole of the internet and tried everything: selective USB (was gone from windows power profile, so had to unhide it with regedit), installing MSI Center, uninstalling MSI center, DDU graphics drivers, using drivers from MSI site (quite old), using newest drivers, gforce experience installed, uninstalled, whole system reinstall (helped for like a day). Some common ground: GPU is set to hybrid mode; neither task manager nor nvidia control panel is showing any activity on GPU; No hardware monitoring software is running; White light blinks sometimes and goes back to orange; USB selective mode is on; I'm using newest non-insider build of windows 10 pro; Currently installed drivers are the newest ones from both intel and nvidia; In nvidia control panel Integrated GPU is selected as default; In windows settings preferred GPU is set to all the things that auto-start; Light stays orange even when laptop is idling (nothing is running at all); Disabling nvidia GPU in device manager doesn't do shit; Monitor refresh rate is set to 60fps. I've tried everything I could find on the internet, but everything I could find on the internet is nearly a year old and new updates of windows don't have half the switches and toggles (it's possible to bring them back through regedit, but I feel like they do nothing and that's why they are not shown in the first place). Couple ideas and subsequent questions: is it possible to set default GPU to igpu in windows (same way you can do in nvidia control panel)? Is it possible to set GPU to integrated rather than hybrid (either when only on battery or manually without reboot)? Btw, I've also tried windows 11 pro, just to a lesser extent with same results.

I have an aoc ips 1080p 60hz monitor with vga and dvi connection. Currently, i connected my 1070 strix using dvi to the monitor. However, can i connect the intel gpu on my i5 7500 to the same monitor using vga. Can i duplicate the display? If i were to mine on the 1070 when not gaming, the youtube would be stuttering sometimes bcoz of the heavy load on gpu. So, to avoid that, can i duplicate my display just by using the same monitor by switching the source of display from dvi to vga and use the igpu instead for smoother results? As u all know, kaby lake igpu has integrated support for 4k decoding. Such a waste if i did not use it. Btw, i'm currently using asrock b250m-hdv motherboard. Can my idea be realized? Can both of the gpus be used on the same monitor at the same time?

Hi everyone. Today, I, as a person who don't really know much about laptops, will share an output of my wishful thinking process with you. TL;DR: read bold and underlined text only. Story goes like this: Many people including me want a good built thin and light all-rounder machine with a dGPU. As a matter of fact, such a setup will generally include a x700 hq cpu + 10x0 gpu and they will cause overheating in that body easily. Results vary from throttling to short life expectancy. Another problem, most people, don't include me this time , won't even need that much processing power in an expensive package to begin with. A mid-range cpu would be enough for them. They just don't care about FPS or stuff like that; only want to play their games at good settings if not max and expect their game would be playable with those settings. So, a weaker processor could do the trick for them. I know there is 7300hq inside of some laptops. But that one still has a TDP of 45w which means it also causes overheating. Well, obvious solution is upgrading the cooling. But I think there may be another way similar to but not hopefully as bad as Max-Q approach. As you know, Intel will increase core count of the ulv processors. So we will see 4 core low voltage cpu's shortly. Do you think successors of i7 ulv's will have enough horsepower to be exchanged with 7300hq or even 7700hq - which isn't really needed but people inevitably ended up with? 7567u for example, has a great single core performance (4ghz turbo) and it's TDP is around 25w I think. Not so weak, eh? Maybe they make a new convertible or 2in1 with one of the stronger 4 core i7 ulv's and put a 1050-1050Ti 4GB or 1060 inside? 1-2 TB3 port, 8-16 GB RAM and one more empty slot, a good pen, two storage slots and we're good to go. Just wishful thinking. But you never know, maybe they will do it. If one can wait long enough So, what do you think? Could such a processor drive a 1060 without being too much of a bottleneck? And without any overheating if put in today's machines?

I have a GTX1060 with only HDMI, DP and DVI-D output. An FHD monitor is connected via HDMi. I'm thinking of buying a second monitor, the cheapest the better, but they only have 1 VGA (D-SUB) connector. Which is fine, I just need to enable the iGPU in the BIOS and can hook it up to the motherboard. Here comes the question: how is the computing process shared on the 2 GPUs? For instance: Dragging a program from one screen to another, does it swap GPUs? More dramatic scenario: opening a game in windowed mode and dragging it to the middle, so half of the game is either on the iGPU's or the dGPU's output monitor. What happens then?

Hi forum, maybe this is the wrong category, but I have a problem, which has been bugging me for quite some time now. I have a MSI GS43VR 7RE Laptop (7700HQ, GTX 1060), which I wouldn't trade in for anything else at the moment. Warranty just ran out, I have never ever had any problems with it. Apart from a software annoyance ever since the April Windows update. I do not use any bloat from MSI on this machine (no Dragon Center or things like that). The problem is with NVIDIA Optimus and Windows system processes. Bear with me, I have done a lot of research which I want to supply here too for everyone else. I will state the problem first: Optimus and Windows 10 seem to work quite well since Windows has it's own "run this program on this GPU" functionality. There are some rough edges though. My main concern is battery life, AND I use external displays at home (keep this in mind for later). Some of my scenarios throw the igpu/dgpu waggon over and the dgpu just keeps running and draining battery. For me, this has HUGE battery life consequences. See those ThrottleStop screenshots: GPU inactive: GPU active: In terms of battery life, this means if I do not notice the "problem", I get 1.5-2 hours of battery when using Word/Chrome on the go. On the other hand, I get 5-7 hours for the same scenario without the "problem". Now, for the question and the research: Note: The external display thing is central since on this machine, the miniDP and HDMI outputs are connected to the dgpu, whereas the internal display and the TB3 port connect to the igpu. This would be the normal case, I assume. First, if you have external displays connected and you allow UWP background apps, there is absolutely no hope. Windows will, after you disconnected the external display, never turn the dgpu off again unless you restart without any external displays connected. This is because there are at least 5 background apps running on the dgpu at all times (Skype, Netflix, Search, Cortana, ...). I think, starting Windows with a display connected lets the system think it's a desktop and turn off the battery saving measures. So far so good, I can manage to never start my laptop from power off or hibernate with an external display connected. Turning off background apps was also an easy fix, I even completely removed these annoying UWP apps outright. Nevertheless, sometimes (from my experience after either long sessions with external displays or the internal display being off for some time [screen sleep or external display only mode]) the system falls back into this "desktop" mode again and without a restart, the dgpu never shuts off after disconnecting the display even though the activity indicator shows no apps running. Looking into Task Manager, I can see that the "System" process uses the dgpu for about half a second copying something ("GPU1 - copy" using 1% of the gpu) just about whenever the dgpu tries to shut off (I can see a red flicker on the power button which is red when the gpu is off and orange when it's on). So, TL:DR I can keep my system in check as long as: I never start up with external displays connected and the internal display never goes to sleep when external displays are connected. This is not the end of the story as Windows seems to be inconsistent and I regularly have to reboot after I go mobile. Has anyone sort of similar or different experiences concerning this? I would love to exchange more stuff with you as I want to fix this to get a literally perfectly running system. Thanks for your time, Julian

Source: https://www.dsogaming.com/news/intel-confirms-that-its-discrete-xe-gpus-will-release-in-2020-and-will-support-ray-tracing/ Source 2: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/intel-rajaq-koduri-xe-graphics-card-release-date,40562.html Not much to say about this, as there is much speculation within the rumor itself (mostly if there is dedicated HW for Ray Tracing and other details; 2020 arrival looks to be largely settled). But at the very least, 2020 as a whole is shaping up to be a very interesting year for computer enthusiasts (from all of the big 3). Really looking forward to seeing what Intel's first dGPU winds up being; especially what market/markets they intend to enter in first (price bracket/tier Apparently, Ray Tracing at all on Intel GPUs is a no-go: Source: https://www.pcworld.com/article/3445421/no-intel-didnt-confirm-its-discrete-xe-gpus-will-support-ray-tracing.html

How to fix dGPU not working on y50-70? When i install old and new drivers for my GTX 860M equipped lenovo y50-70 it either crashes the installer, and if i install the drivers in safe mode everything is ok. But when i restart and use the dGPU it crashes again. This is on the latest windows 10, and everything updated. It isnt windows since this has been a problem for over 1.5years now and im just trying my luck if i can find a fix.

My cousin brought his computer over to see if I could fix it. The computer is an older A8 5600k in an ASRock FM2A75M-DGS motherboard. It does not boot to the PCI Express video source. The system used to work with the 7870 without an issue and my cousin told me that it was working one day, the next day he turned it on and it stopped. I have tried 3 different GPUs, the original 7870, a 960 and an old 5450. I cannot get them to boot with video but once got the 5450 to show the screen through VGA when I moved the VGA cable from the onboard to the 5450, but the system was hard locked. When I remove the GPU and plug the monitor directly into the onboard it will boot and show video and run just fine. In the BIOS it shows in the North Bridge that it is PCI Express preferred, when I changed it to onboard preferred it booted to the onboard while the video card was plugged in. I tested the 7870 in another computer and it was fine, I also tested the RAM in another computer and it was fine. The only thing I have not swapped is the PSU but that was why I tried the 5450 as it does not require anything but the motherboard to power it. I have also tried to reset the BIOS, but still no joy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm looking around for a 2-in-1 that can handle small games like Castleminer Z, Minecraft, and Terraria. It's a planned upgrade from a Yoga 710 with a 7200u in it. I'd also prefer that it's light, bout Macbook Air or Pro status; somewhat compact, like the current Yoga; and can hold a decent charge when not gaming, like 6+hours. The XPS 15 2-in-1 looks good, but the Vega M in it is somewhat overkill. Budget is roughly $1000 USD to about 1300. Oh. And this is for a friend who's mom is insistent they purchase from Best Buy -__-

Okay, so basically when i play any game i found out that i have random problem where the dedicated GPU usage falls to like 10% or just to a percentage where it should not be... Well i found out that it throttles... But not at 80+ degrees but already at 68-70 degrees... I checked nvidia inspector what the temp limit is and it's at 85 degrees (i can send a screenshot tomorrow because it's night). I don't get it, why is it throttling at such a relatively cool temperature and is ther a way to fix it?

So, I am going to be getting a Mobo + RAM for my recently aquired Athlon II x4 860K. I need a mITX mobo for my Silverstone rvz01 mITX case. Anyway, the mobo is the MSI mITX A88XI AC V2 : http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WB9N1ZO/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me= The CPU is obviously the Athlon II x4 860K. And the RAM is either --> 8 GB Patriot Viper DDR3 2400MHz (10-12-12-30) or --> 8 GB Patriot Viper DDR3 1866MHz (9-10-9-27) Now, the kicker here is that I can get the RAM for about the exact same price, (give or take $2 occasionally) I know that the timings and clock speeds have everything to do with it, especially with APUs, but this is no APU. I am getting a dGPU to go with this thing (260x), so it really won't boost performance too much... But since I am here, I want to know is if there are any benfits for one over the other, and also if there are any incompatibilites. Can I even use the 2400MHz RAM with my Athlon II x4 860K? Thnx in advance, robinspi.

So i have gotten this piece of software called wirtu mvp with my mobo and i know it is supposed to be helpful for at least those using integrated graphics, but is it any use for when i am already using a discrete gpu. i have noticed that there was an option between Dgpu and Igpu, will i benefit from this at all or can i just get rid of it, (i have a HD7950 so its no exactly a low end GPU) also what do you guys think about free programs that come with hardware in general. And if you are interested my Mobo is in my sig and the stuff i got with it was of course Virtu and also some CyberLink MediaEspresso thingy, the rest was just xfast usb, lan and ram, are they any use?
