I'm running a 3080 Asus TUF with a 3600 Ryzen 5 CPU at 4.2GHz with 3200Mhz RAM. + 1080p 144fps screen with freesync/gsync OFF. I'm sitting in Destiny 2 with all settings at max, 1080p, 100% render resolution with Nvidia's control panel set to maximum performance not power saving. Any idea why in the tower i'm sitting around 110fps and in crucible around 120fps? Both GPU and CPU utilization seem way below what they could be with CPU at 40-50% and GPU at 70-80%. My friend has a 2080ti and gets 120fps at 1440p at the same settings so i'm confused as heck, I have a proper 750W power supply with multiple PCIE power ports for each cord. I'm on the latest driver (tried previous too) and have tried low latency mode on off, on and boost/ultra with no real difference, windows is on ultimate performance mode too with W10 Pro Vers 1909

This is possibly the most map-specific build I've ever done. Be that as it may, it's still super fun. The main components of this build are the Last Word hand cannon and the Orewing's Maul grenade launcher. Let's start by talking about The Last Word: It is a 225 RPM hand cannon featuring the Fan Fire perk: this weapon can be fired quickly and continuously. Faster reload and increased accuracy on successive hip-fire damage. This hand cannon will 4-tap a typical Guardian, and has a very good TTK because of it. The range on this hand cannon is lower than most, but is still plenty to work with. Next, we have the Orewing's Maul grenade launcher. Lightweight frame, 90 RPM tube(or single shot) grenade launcher. Mine features spike grenades for the ability to one-shot Guardians on a direct hit. Excellent for bouncing projectiles around corners, in the same fashion as Fighting Lion. The difference between Fighting Lion and Orewing's Maul though, is that Fighting Lion is an exotic and will not kill in one shot(hmm, maybe that's something to play around with some more?). As you may notice, these two weapons compliment each other very nicely in terms of their ability and use cases. Get some damage in with Last Word, cleanup with Orewing's Maul if necessary. In the reverse order: get some damage with Orewing's Maul but not enough for the kill? Cleanup with Last Word. You'll get the same functionality either way, regardless of which weapon you lead or follow up with. Now, you may be wondering why I say this is a very map-specific build. This is because of the grenade launcher, mostly. Part of it is also due to the Last Word: it really don't have as much range as something like Rose, Thorn, or even Better Devils. As such, this build works the best on very enclosed maps. Maps like Retribution, where this build was developed. Why do I like this build on Retribution so much specifically? It has corners. Lots and lots of corners. Even with the open rooms on this map, nothing is out of the range of The Last Word, and basically everything can be cleaned up with by Orewing's Maul if necessary. Some visual aide in case you don't know this map: Take note of how many corners there are. Especially the doorways and curves. A build with limited range such as this one works incredibly well at killing people around the corners. The other benefit is that since just about nothing is out of range of The Last Word, you'll just about always hit for maximum damage per bullet. The main caveat of this build is that it really only works on Retribution. I've tried it on Burnout, but it just doesn't hold up outside or in the long lanes. Don't let the map limitation effect your thoughts of the build though, I assure you, it is very fun to use. Just not outside of Retribution. BONUS CONTENT: How I plan to post to and use this blog! I won't be posting on Saturdays or Sundays. During the week, I'll try to maintain daily posts as much as I can. On the weekends, I'll probably be streaming on Twitch for a few hours each day. This should have the benefits of being able to get some cool clips to share with these blogs, as well as experimenting with different builds. If all goes according to plan, I can hopefully also interact and discuss various things with you guys as well! I'm not 100% sure on the advertising rules over here in blogs, so I won't risk linking my Twitch channel directly. However, I do have it on my Discord profile(if you're friends with/in a server with me there) as well as listed here on my forum profile.

[D2 PvP] Shotgun/Recluse Warlock - Zippy Boi v1
Crunchy Dragon posted a blog entry in Crunchy's Gaming Blog
So I've decided to main Warlock for a few weeks as I attempt to hone my skill on and improve with that class. I discovered Transversive Steps last night. In case you don't know what those are, T-Steps are a very fun Warlock exotic boot that makes you sprint faster and reloads your equipped weapon as you do it. Some of you may have gone to the same place I did. Immediately, out came the Parcel of Stardust and the Recluse. Why that specific combination, you ask? I'm glad you asked! Parcel of Stardust is a lightweight frame shotgun. It clocks in at 80 RPM, and you move faster with it equipped. My roll has Corkscrew Rifling, Accurized Rounds, Snapshot Sights, Pulse Monitor, and a Range masterwork. The Recluse is a lightweight frame submachine gun. It clocks in at 900 RPM, and you move faster with it equipped. It also features a unique perk called Master of Arms, which procs on any weapon kill and increases Recluse damage by a hefty amount for ~5 seconds. I combined all that with top tree Daybreak, Attunement of Sky. This gives me the Icarus Dash ability, which works very similarly to a Hunter dodge, the catch being that I have to be airborne for it to work. Unlike a Hunter dodge however, Icarus Dash can be used every 6 seconds or so. Combined with T-Steps, Burst Glide, and lightweight frame weapons, it all makes for a very mobile build and playstyle. I had a really good time zipping around the map shotgunning and melting my opponents. I've found it shines the most on semi-enclosed maps such as The Dead Cliffs, Javelin-4, and Solitude. Overall, I think it could be a very strong build if I was better with the Warlock class. I look forward to using it more. Perhaps, I'll throw Stompees on my Hunter and run the same loadout... -
[D2 PvP] Double Quickdraw and Auto Rifles in PvP
Crunchy Dragon posted a blog entry in Crunchy's Gaming Blog
I am a very firm believer in the Quickdraw perk. I believe that I can say, without a doubt, that it's my favorite perk in the game. Some background... I like to play anti-meta outside the competitive playlist. For the purpose of this post, that means running an auto rifle. One that isn't Suros Regime. It means running an auto rifle with low recoil direction and stability stats. It means running a Halfdan-D in the Crucible. What does running a Halfdan-D in the Crucible entail? For me, it meant taking my main PvE rifle with 4,000+ PvE kills to go kill Guardians. And it was beautiful. You can view my Halfdan-D roll here. I'd like to bring your attention specifically to the range stat and the first perk, Quickdraw. What did I run in my secondary slot? Recluse seemed like an obvious choice but I gave it some more thought than that. I'm playing anti-meta, might as well act the part and come dressed for it. After some deliberation while staring at my vault, I came to rest on Gunnora's Axe for my energy weapon. Pay some more attention to the range stat and the first perk. Overall thoughts on the build These two weapons complimented each other like bread and butter, like peanut butter and jelly, like NFL quarterbacks and insurance ads. Having Quickdraw on both of my weapons made a big difference, especially when the handling stat was less-than-ideal for a PvP loadout(for some). The swaps between the two were blindingly fast. Everything was crisp and snappy. The Halfdan-D was an extension of my hand at this point(see again: PvE kill tracker), and I put it to some very good work in the Crucible. I hadn't used Gunnora's Axe before, but got the hang of it pretty quickly. My roll is almost a Chaperone in the energy slot. Moar details Being able to swap weapons as quickly as I did made a huge difference in my gameplay. I could whip a shotgun out to follow up a melee before my opponent had time to counter-melee. The Halfdan did plenty of work in both the medium and the long range. Being a high-impact, max-range auto rifle, I could challenge the upper tier of pulse rifles and even dip into scout rifle territory with the long zoom scope. The Dan consumed everything closer than midrange pulse rifles in the same fashion as Cerberus+1 eating everything in SMG/shotgun range. Stacking rampage made the blood flow faster, adding to the carnage. If enemies got too close for the Dan, the Axe came right behind it. I've used the Halfdan enough that it doesn't matter for me that the stability stat is low for an auto rifle. Between the amount of time I've spent with this rifle and the fact that I play on PC, I had no problems whatsoever keeping recoil controlled. I was able to out-flinch and out-shoot a Duke in the long range as well. Closing thoughts Moving Target on a slug shotty is amazing. I'd almost prefer it over Snapshot Sights or, to a lesser extent, Opening Shot. Rampage is probably the best perk available on an auto rifle. I caught myself thinking fantasizing about Cerberus+1 with Rampage earlier today. Give double Quickdraw a try. What do I think of auto rifles in PvP? It's a shame that there aren't that many good auto rifles for PvP. Gnawing Hunter with a good roll is a solid choice, but that requires farming Reckoning. Rapid-fire ARs like Misfit and Valakadyn are also good, but again: with a solid roll. And at that point, you're better off using Recluse anyway for the most part. Some rapid-fire ARs could probably out-range Recluse, but that'd be the main perk. Auto rifles can't fully compete against hand cannons that hit between 65-70 to the head, are much more consistent, and require less recoil control. Overall, I think auto rifles fill a really niche spot in the meta that fits in somewhere between the lower end of scout rifles and the higher end of pulse rifles. Because of that, there's no real point in taking an auto rifle when Vigilance Wing and Blast Furnace will be better choices anyway. The only real thing my Halfdan has on V-Wing is a couple more meters of range, but V-Wing would most likely out-shoot it every single time. Auto rifles are fun, but they're in a tough spot that makes it hard to enjoy them for most people. -
ive got a rtx 2060 and ryzen 3600 setup and it runs great but ive just started playing destiny 2 again and i cant get 5 mins into the game without getting "graphics runtime crash" and error code broccolli and shuts down. does anyone have any experience with this issue? right before the error comes up and the game crashes, the images on the screen start to bug out and certain things like rocks appear green and then CRASH! i havent done anything like overclock or anything. all the drivers and everything are up to date. but this is my main game and not being able to play it on my new computer and monitor sucks. also other games ive played and had no issues at all. most recently hellblade ive played with no issue. then i jumped into destiny and cant even play 5 mins. hope someone will be able to help

Hai! So, I've been thinking, for us that didn't play Destiny 1 and really be interested in Destiny 2, how will the story move on from there to the PC users as it's a console game at heart? Just curious as I've been interested in this but never gotten myself a Xbox One.

So I played the beta yesterday and was getting anywhere from 45-70 consistently with a GTX 1080 at 1440p with the highest preset. My CPU is a 6700k at 4.5 GHz. According to this, A 1060 3GB and a R3 1200 can hit 60 fps at one preset down. Is this right? I have a 70+ FPS AVG maxed in the witcher 3 with hairworks on with max AA, so I don't think this is right. Is this issue just poor optimization?

Hello everyone! I was finally able to pick up Destiny 2 on Friday and start playing. Everything seemed to be going great, but as soon as I shut down the game for the first time I started to hit stability issues. After starting the game for the second time, the game would hang up and crash very soon after starting up, sometimes before I even got past the character select screen. It would do this repeatedly, even after closing out of Battle.net and reopening it, but If I'm persistent eventually it will work, but it still runs the risk of hanging up and crashing after an extended periods of playing, and that's not going to fly when I get to the Raid. The crashing primarily happens while in orbit. Things I've Tried: checking for drivers. 388.00 is still current for Nvidia at this time validating file integrity closing every other app removing miniscule overclock reducing graphical settings increasing overclock (I don't know why I thought this would work) making Battle.net minimize in game So far I'm still getting the same issues. I was wondering if anyone else was having these issues. The only thing I can think of that might be causing these at this point might be my 21:9 monitor, but Bungie specifically stated that they were making the effort to accommodate ultrawide aspect ratios. The only clue I have is that During the Beta I would sometimes get File paging errors. Could this actually be a sign of my DRAM or VRAM corrupting? Maybe my Hard Drive? Here are my PC specs if it helps in any way: i5 4690K MSI z97 motherboard 16GB Kingston 1600MHz Ram Gigabyte GTX 780 windforce (3GB VRAM) OS drive: 2x Corsair GS 128GB SSD RAID 0 Data drive: WD caviar black 1TB Corsair 850W PSU monitor: Asus 2560X1080 IPS 60Hz

I'm having trouble getting a locked 60 fps w/ Destiny 2. Here's my rig: 6700k OC'd to 4.4GHz. AIO watercooled so no temp issues. Usage is 40-60% in game according to HWMonitor. Asus GTX 1080 OC'd to ~ 2037MHz. Stable in furmark / other stress tests at about 67C. Usage has been 25% in windowed mode at 720p res. 1 stick 8gb ddr4 ram in slot 1 (my 2nd stick died recently...). Memory usage is reported at 66% from task manager while in game. 1TB Samsung Evo w/ ~100gb free. EVGA power supply w/ plenty of head room. Montor: Mac LED cinema display (not thunderbolt). 2560x1440 w/ display port. From what I've read, other people have had no problem hitting a locked 60fps. I've tried a variety of resolutions and quality settings, and the game always seems to float between 45 and 59 fps. Closer to 50 during intense fighting. I especially notice the stutter when I jump. I understand the 59 is probably just an artifact of Windows 10 running the monitor at 59.94hz due to some TV compatibility stuff. I dropped the res down to 720P and it still had trouble staying locked. I've tired dropping the video settings to low and the fps still dips. Since HWMonitor seems to indicate the CPU and GPU still have some headroom, I'm not sure what is bottlenecking. 1 stick of 8GB ram... not dual channel... that's not the best, but my impression was that it shouldn't impact FPS this much, especially when it's only reporting 66% usage. What should I look at next? Other games in the past have been perfect (Skyrim, GTA V, Witcher 3 w/ hairworks off, etc.)

So I just bought a 1080 ti from newegg and I should get (and it said I did) a copy of destiny 2. Now I have a few questions about this - How/Where do I redeem the code - The system doesn't exist yet so can I download it and play it on my current system and still be able to play it on the new one (like steam) - Will the code expire If anyone knows the answers to these questions please let me know And I put this in general discussion because I didn't think it fit anywhere else, but feel free to move it if it would.

hello guys, im new here but i thought this would be the best place to ask this question. i have recently upgraded my setup to a i5-7600k with 16gig of ddr4 ram. but i am still stuck with my old gtx 750ti.. i mainly play PUBG atm but also a lot of arma 3 and overwatch. i am planning to play a lot of destiny 2 so i really need a new gpu. i have been looking into the rx580 for a long time now because i have a freesync monitor. what would you recommend? wait for the prices to drop?(destiny release is in september) or buy a gtx 1060 instead? my budget is preferably around 300$ - 350$

Hey there, folks. I've got a friend who's PC uses a GTX 1050 Ti and an AMD A6-3650, and my question is if it will run Destiny 2. I know his 1050 Ti is fine for the game, but what about the A6? I heard about the game's issues regarding SSE and the Phenom II CPU's, but does anyone know if his CPU will suffer that specific problem? I know he should expect lower framerates if it works, but anyone have any idea of if it will work? Thanks.

Will I get the preorder stuff for PC if I preorder it now? Also, what are the differences between the deluxe and standard editions? Thanks!

Updated this below. Now 15% off instead of 19% off since we're on release week. So believe it or not, discounts on Destiny 2 is rather rare from a legit source (eg a distributor authorized by Activision Blizzard. Given Battle.net keys aren't exactly something grey market can source easily - so this is why you probably don't see it on deep discount at reseller sites especially as its a region locked title as well. If you don't have a key from a GPU promotion and you're thinking of playing Destiny 2 on the PC (honestly seems like the best version) for release week, this is a solid price at 19% off and the highest we've seen since pre-order became available way back earlier this year. Destiny 2 Standard Edition - $50.99 (Battle.net) Destiny 2 Digital Deluxe Edition - $84.99 (Battle.net) Use code SUCHWOW10 Stacks with current instant savings of 10% off. Coupon expires Thursday Oct 19, 4:59PM PDT Battle.net key (region locked key) Includes pre-order bonus Exotic weapon Coldheart As mentioned the game is region locked so make sure you're not using VPN and you're buying from a region that matches with your Battle.net account. Shouldn't be an issue for most people as GMG automatically redirects you to the proper region. If you see pricing in your local currency then you're good to go. (Prices are obviously different but the 10% off coupon will work globally).

Really?!? Could you do like a second of research?!? Now now wait a second what the hell are you talking about? Ok let's start this with a quick disclaimer. I know I am a huge pc nerd most of us are and Destiny 2 doesn't belong here yet. But this requires a post because I see no one talking about this. This is for the people that plan on playing Destiny 2 on pc and need to either buy a new pc or upgrade your current build. Ok let's start with the problem, Bungie didn't do their research for the specs on their This Week At Bungie. Ok what are you talking about they developed the game they should know the required specs. First of all DeeJ, the one of the only ones that posts the weekly updates, does not help develop the game to our knowledge he is just the Community Manager. Second of all they run the most balls to wall set up to develop the game on most likely all their pcs there I mean why wouldn't you. So they probably estimated the pc requirements. I mean it would require some man hours to be put in to get the proper and most accurate requirements, but why would you do that when you have basically your whole pc community asking for the requirements. I mean it would be good rep to release specs earlier but not if they aren't accurate. I mean most people won't notice because they just listen to the specs listed and go accordingly. It's one thing to release a proper estimate and another to just be pleasing the community. Ok so where did they mess up? Ok so I don't know how the game runs with these specs but what I do know is the specs that they use with and their respective brands. They did pretty good with the minimum requirement on the individual spec side but one thing that irked me was the 6gbs of memory and the overall build. I mean ouch way to punch the low end market right in the neck. I can already tell this game is going to be pretty demanding for both the CPU and the graphics card though so I guess that makes sense. But when you put these specs together into one system you get a pretty decent bottle neck. First of all the FX-4350 runs pretty slow overall sense you know your paying for the price of an AMD 2013 CPU I mean you aren't getting much. The intel CPU the i3 3250 runs pretty well with the 660 ti and little a minuscule bottle neck one of the only up sides to these specs even though it's a duo core. But the graphics card in the minimum are pretty reasonable the 660 ti is a good low end but if you want to run better and have no bottle neck for the AMD side of things you might want a HD 7950 instead. For the recommend specs let's start with the upside the graphics cards they recommend are pretty much toe to toe. You probably want a used 970 for best bang for buck but I won't get into builds here. The ram is good amount I mean anything above 8 gigs is for those multi taskers that like to run two games at once (which is bad for your components if you go to the extreme). And that's the good news. Ok now the gosh darn freaking stupid CPUs for recommended specs. i5 2400 vs Ryzen 5 1600x... what the actual fuck man. I sure hope this was a miscommunication cause if not Destiny 2 is going to run horrible for anything but balls to the wall set ups. Let's get the Ryzen 1600x out of the way it's a pretty great CPU in fact I use it but it's kinda overkill for gaming I mean 6 cores at 3.6ghz-4.0+ghz for gaming is pretty overkill for most games sense they don't use more than duo core rendering if Destiny 2 is going to be 6 or even 4 core rendering then I am hyped af. I think recommended should be a quad core at most so maybe the Ryzen 5 1500x might do just fine. But oh boy do I have a bone to pick with the Intel CPU. The i5-2400 is basically 30% worse than the 1600x and 20% worse than the 1500x. And this is where the nerd comes out... Let's start with what we are comparing here 1500x It has the same amount of cores but twice as many threads It is 32% more power efficient It has a better base clock and turbo clock It has better single core speed Better quad core speed Better multi core capabilities And here's the kicker released in 2017 compared to the i5s 2011 ancient release its lithography at 32nm is 56% worse than 1500x's 14nm I mean wow what a freaking difference. 1600x Don't even bother you know by logic it's even better in every way Bungie freaking compared these two as equivalent CPUs I mean really??? I know it might be better optimized for Intel but a CPUs from 2011 I mean there is no way if they didn't test bottle neck for their specs. I really hope they fix this soon(maybe they have and I have been to busy researching this shit). Let's make it clear that their recommended CPUs are a little messed up and shouldn't be followed with the little information we have on how the game will use the pc hardware and how well optimized it will be. In my opinion based on the minimum requirements and how this game might be a little intense to run I suggest the i7-6700k for best use out of that 970 if you want intel. TL;DR/Conclusion In short take Bungie's specs with a grain of salt as they are unreliable sense if you do some research your self you can see they are a little sketchy. Wait for better specs to be released on battle.net near game release or do a little research your self and look at other people's specs requirements based on the ones we got (a little correction here and there). Hi, so I decided to play destiny 2 again because why not, it's been two or three months since last time. I have a GTX 1070, 12GB of 3000MHz ram (getting another 4GB tomorrow, don't worry) and a Ryzen 5 1600. Nothing is underclocked, undervolted, overheating, and I even tried some overclocking, temps were cool and all, but it didn't help. Anyways, I was playing, and I was getting below 60fps, no matter the settings, in fact, I got higher framerates at max settings than low settings. Does anyone have an idea of what could be the issue? The system is 100% stable too.
-
So while playing destiny 2 I get 98 to 99 percent usage at 140-180 FPS. This in itself isn't bad and if I set a frame rate cap of 60 even at 1440p highest settings I see GPU usage at 45-70% or so. (via task manager) Again no big deal. The problem comes in the form of my screen goes black for a few seconds and basically making it impossible to play. It seems to happen more in graphically intensive part in the game ( go figure), but it does happen in less intensive areas outside of fights. This never happens in a cut scene as those are much more prerendered ( I would assume) and don't see over 20% GPU usage. I have tried freesync on and off with no change. I have a brand new LG monitor 1440p 144hz and comes with some nice freesync software and is built around gaming. I have not done any special software to change the freesync range and I have not done any monitor overclocking. I haven't found my issue in particular anywhere yet. If any of you could help that would be great I seem to only have this issue in destiny and to a much lesser extent the division 2. ASUS prime X470 Pro R7 2700 32 GB 3200 Mhz C16 RX 580 8GB Corsair 510 M.2 960GB boot drive Corsair 510 M.2 960GB game drive Corsair RM850x in white Corsair 140mm fans galore fractal define S LG 32GK650F-B Any advice will be greatly appreciated. I may try some screen recordings and see what comes out of that. It might show me that it's a monitor problem instead. But for now, I'm just very confused.

Hi Everyone! I'm currently tweaking my settings for best stream results while playing Destiny 2. But i'm having some problems on the said game. I noticed that whenever i tried the windowmode boarderless option for Slobs (since the game is not allowed to be stream on full screen mode), I am certainly seeing that the game is having some screen tearing whenever i turn on left and right while looking on a rock in Dreaming City. Base on my specs below, i can easily run this game on 144hz with custom settings, and my monitor is 144hz, meaning there should be no screen tearing at all. The difference between full screen and boarderless is day and night, and i can easily notice it whenever i play crucible or when i'm farming. I really want to play and stream Destiny 2, especially that this September since it will go on free. Most of my friends in Division 2 will most likely be trying to play the game and i want to stream that and share to my viewers and friends. Please let me know if there is a fix that i can apply, without buying an Elgato.

Hey guys I recently got a second Psvr just to see if I could do the trinuis hack. Still have some bugs but love the challenge. However Psvr hacks only work on steam and steam VR. Come September destiny 2 will be moved to steam do to the Activision Bungie split. Can you guys at ltt see if you can get a Psvr to work on battlenet destiny 2 game. I'm not looking for hand controls I like my Xbox scuff controller I'd just love to destiny 2 through VR lenses...

Hi all, Was wondering if anyone has received the BIOS update yet that fixes Destiny 2 not launching on Ryzen 3000 platforms, and if so what motherboard you have from which manufacturer? Or if anyone is running Ryzen 3000 but doens't have issues running Destiny 2? And if so how they did that? Thanks in advance
