Waves audio is awful. So, Waves audio purposefully degrades the amazing speakers on the dell xps and then makes it really hard to remove all their changes. You can experiance this yourself if you have the application by turning the app to off and listening to the differnace in sound quality or you can drop your laptop into a bathtub of water and listen to the differnace... the speakers don't actually sound like that with the application removed. To start off, simple performance issues; I would get studders, issues with headphones being actually un-usable the quality so low I couldn't make out a single word (with reports of other users stating that the headphone jack would outright stop working) but the nail in the coffin' was discord. With the OS communications set to 'do nothing' in control panel and the discord stuff to turn applications down off. my system would have this habbit of reducing audio quality when discord was open in a call and volume. After spending hours tinkering with the settings and trying to find Now, I tried to remove this application. So, without the installer being in add or remove programs I had to locate waves audio manually and use the installed there. Then, I installed dell's realtek audio driver and restarted. How naive i was to believe that was the end of it. The installed didn't remove services that were left on automatic and PURPOSEFULLY made the speakers quiet and sound god awful. So after locating these services (YES, MULTIPLE) and setting them to manual. I restarted. Now, I finally got to a stage where I was happy. My audio sounded great, if not better than before; significantly more stable, sounding great (although, it lacks heavy base from the software tune. although, the base is still really good). So I go to enter a discord call... IT STILL WAS HAPPENING. my audio quality and volume was dropping in calls and somehow the headphone jack sounded even worse. Another dig through the system and I found a driver that had been left. This driver was called Waves enhancement after removal I got my expected functionality. This sound like malware to me, why does dell pre-install this. its awful and their ratings on windows store, complains and reoprted audio issues all seem to point to waves audio pro. I bought the XPS 15 9520 4K UHD, after alex reviewed it in short circuit and I've been more than pleased with it but this is just crazy.

Hi, I've recently got my hands on a second hand 9370 that is in perfect condition. I understand that it is an older unit so some bugs are to be expected, but this is seemingly a common issue with XPS laptops. When I am using an AC to USB-C charger for my laptop (65w) the keyboard becomes incredibly unresponsive. I have to type at a much slower rate to be able to not miss half of the inputs. I've looked through the dell forums and there are very few solutions, and the ones that I have found have failed to work. Weirdly the laptop works just fine when running on battery. I can type as quickly as possible and it won't miss a single input. I have windows 11 installed, and have used the tool on the dell website to install the up to date drivers. I have also tried turning off self refresh and that has not helped. Is there a known fix for this issues? Or am I doomed? Thank you in advance.

I am going to college in a month or so and I am considering buying a dell XPS 13 plus, computer science major so should give you an idea for what i will be using it for (ofcourse not for a gaming I will be taking my gaming pc with me so i wont game on the laptop).So what do yall recommend?

Hi, I have a dell XPS 7590 - i5 9300h, 1650, 64gb ram and 512SSD I have 1 HP Z27k G3 and I'm looking at buying another. What's the best way for me to use the two monitors? at the moment, i use 1 USB type c to my laptop. will it be as simple as using the HDMI for the 2nd monitor? Will the 2nd display be 4k 60hz ? Howdy folks I have a 2070 Super that Dell made (I think the actual card is assembled by MSI, but there's no branding other than the obligatory RTX branding) and the cooling solution is, frankly, terrible. It thermal throttles constantly. I'd like to swap the cooler to a better one (unfortunately I can't go water due to case space). Are 2070S pcb's mostly standard in terms of layout and screw holes? Are there any good aftermarket coolers? I'd prefer a blower-style or partial blower-style as my case has basically no airflow from fans (see details below), but honestly, anything that would let me get the full stock performance out of my card and keep it alive would be enough. some relevant information: I got the card in an XPS Special Edition desktop with a 10700k and 2070S. (Don't buy this PC I beg you) I replaced the OEM 80mm case fan with a 92mm Noctua NF-A9 and the OEM tower cooler with a Noctua NH-D9L. This keeps my cpu from thermal throttling, barely. It's a negative pressure setup, one 92mm fan in the top rear, passive intake in the bottom front, no mounting or space to mount any other case fans. I have no control over the fan curves because Dell hates people and locked down their BIOS and fan curves. The GPU throttles constantly and doesn't even run at base clock speeds. Under full load it'll run at 84-85c on the core with the memory chips sitting in the 100-105c range. It's a blower-style card, similar to a MSI blower card, but doesn't have any branding other than the RTX branding. The fin stack is aluminum and quite small. The shroud and stack are supported by a black anodized aluminum frame that contacts all the front side thermal pads. The back is bare with no backplate or cooling of any kind, not that there are any chips on the back anyway, but still. I can control the fan via afterburner, but even at full Jet Engine speeds (makes my whole setup shake from the vibration) thermals are in the upper 70's on the core and upper 90's on the memory. At those fan speeds it is unusable due to noise and vibration. In terms of maintenance: I recently took it apart to clean and repaste. There wasn't any dust buildup (good) but the paste was hard. I didn't replace any thermal pads, though I probably should, but I honestly think it wouldn't make any difference in thermals because the fan is just overwhelmed. It may be I just have to wait until I have enough money to buy a non-proprietary mobo and PSU and swap everything to a case I can run a loop through, but I'd like to not stress the poor thing out any longer than I have to since it's basically impossible to get a GPU now. Any advice would be appreciated and I can post some pics of the case/card if those would be helpful.

I have a Dell XPS 15 L502X and it's a decadish old at this point so I want to re purpose it. There's the standard stuff like storage and the RAM. The problem is I'm looking for some guides/advice/instructions on how to do it. I don't want to accidentally kill it. This Guide by DIY Perks is more focused on laptop displays in general but I'm looking for a disassembly/Re-purposing guide specifically for my laptop. Also where can I find enclosures? I plan on turning the laptop into a HTPC for my younger siblings. But I can't think of what to put it back in.

(I doesnt let me go into the menu for installing ubuntu) I´ve tried installing ubuntu on an ssd on my pc and then inserting it back in the laptop but it also said "Operation System not found" Fedora also doesnt work. I own a dell xps8300 and I just bought a new 1650 super for my computer and was very excited to install it, i followed all of the rules and made sure to install it on my wooden table. I plugged it in and tried to power on, only for it to show the xps logo and the blue loading bar filled up, this is all that shows up and when i press f2 or f12 a noise is made and keeps going until i release, a single beep can also be heard and it repeats about ten seconds later. I am currently using the integrated graphics on the computer to write this post, i made sure to plug in the six pin connector and the hdmi cord so i have no idea what the problem could be.

Hi all. I will leaving for college soon and think I won't be taking my PC with me. So I decided on a gaming laptop (bummer I know) for all my computing needs for the next 5 years. Here are the two options. Both come with a 7700HQ and 16GB of DDR4 memory. XPS 15 with a 1050 4GB, 4K touch screen with 1TB PCIE = $2250 VS New Blade with a 1060 6GB , 4K screen with 512GB PCIE = $2400 I think it boils down to the difference between the 1060 and 1050. I only play a few games such as Overwatch, Battlefield 1, Witcher 3, Doom, GTA V, MINECRAFT, Uncharted 4 and Gears of War 4. With the XPS, I do get the 512Gb extra with the touch screen while keeping $150 as change. The Blade would get me the 1060, but less storage and big bezels + no touch screen. The touch screen isn't really a must. What would you do? Is the difference between the 1060 and 1050 so severe to sacrifice the 512Gb, $150 and touch screen? Thanks in advance.

Im not looking to game as i allready have a dedicated gaming pc. I am mostly going to use it for internet browsing and video watching. I have gotten into music making so i may use it for that as well as autocad software. Which one should i buy as well as any other recomendations. looking for the best bang for my buck.

Hi, I am from the UK and I will be starting university in September. I was having trouble finding what laptop to buy. I am doing a CS(Computer science) course so I know that it has to be minimum 8gb of ram.At the moment I was thinking about the LG gram 15(£950 ,$1200) but some reviews say I should expect better hardware for that price and I am not too worried about it having dedicated GPU as I have a PC. I'm looking for an ultrabook, but I have a budget of $1000. I live in Panama so laptops like the X1 Carbon, the Surface or the Grams are very hard to get. I got someone who can sell me a Dell XPS 13 with the i7-8550U, 4k touch display, 16 Gb of RAM and 1 TB SSD for $900. A few days ago I got my colleagues old computer (Dell xps 8500 prebuilt) for free . specwise is it much better than mine, the only thing that sucked on the Dell was the graphics card But it doesn't recognize the my 770 in the bios or the device manager and I just get a black screen I already tried switching it back to my old rig where It worked fine. all drivers and windows are up to date Anyone have any idea what this could be about? Hey all! I'm looking for advice on laptops. I'm replacing my old af lenovo yoga 13 from 2012, since multiple things are failing. I kinda just want to know what you guys think are the best options for 2 in 1s are so far? I keep looking at the dell xps 13's but they are more than I paid for my old one, but I don't see that there is much more value in terms of performance, but I definitely want that USB C charging and their stylus storage. EDIT: my wife has an older MS surface tablet, but I never really competed with my lenovo, keyboard is too small and janky, and its a bit anemic in terms of performance. How does the surface book compare?

So I'm trying to sell this older Dell XPS Ultrabook and I go to restart the thing and it shows me a message telling me that I need 3.9 Trillion gigabytes in order to restart it...I'm not kidding. I don't even know where to begin to fix that because it's still running windows 7 and there's no other option to really wipe the hard drive and stuff so like, I'm pretty stuck. I'm not sure what to even try so I'm hoping someone here can help me figure it out.

So I got an XPS 9570 with a 1050Ti. For some reason, the GPU no longer works. I've tried a DDU, then a full reinstall of windows, and the only record of a discrete GPU is in Task Manager, where there's always 0% usage on the 1050Ti. I thought it was a software issue, but after the reinstall, I'm fearing that it could have somehow become detached from the motherboard. Please help, thanks.
