help pls Window Trailing Effect Glitch - Help pls
lou_new1 posted a topic in Programs, Apps and Websites
Hi I am an engineering student and so need to use various CAD programs, one of which is Siemens NX11. Whenever a sub-window (opened by NX11) and drag it around the screen to various points, a fairly obstructive visual glitch occurs (not quite sure how to describe it but I have a video of it anyway). I am running it on a Dell XPS15 7590 (i7 9750H, GTX1650 and 8GB RAM) and have the most up-to-date graphics card drivers. Thanks 2021-10-15 12-37-21_Trim.mp4 -
My dell xps 15 (9550) wont turn on, only the power button light turns on for 3 seconds & then turns off. This has happened before & i would simply remove battery, ram , storage etc do some cleaning and put everything back on and somehow it would turn on. Also if the LCD testing is working fine, does that mean my motherboard is fine?

Hi guys, I have a dilemma, of the expensive kind. I am currently in the market for a laptop, preferably under the 1500 hundred dollar mark that will work for school, productivity, and light gaming. I made a previous post with more detailed information but this is a specific battle between two laptops. The dell xps 15 with the gtx 1050 vs the surface book. I want to know what you guys think I should get based on my average laptop use and wants. I really like the touch screen that I have now and moving to a cheaper Dell would be a more difficult transition. I like the surface pen since I take allot of my notes digitally and this would make them all digital. I dislike the performance on the surfaces processor and graphics card, but it would be significanly better than what I have now. I would like to be able to play overwatch at low settings at least but that is not a huge priority. I would like to be able to last a 6-8 hour school day with moderate use. I want 256 GB ssd or better. I want to be able to type fairly comfortably. I want it to be portable enough that I can easily carry it in a book bag. i have never interacted with either of these devices so I am unsure which I should go with. I love the look of the surface book but the dell xps has a much better bang for buck. In the long run I want something that will last me for about 3-5 years if possible.

So I'm currently waiting for the Dell xps 15 2017 model to come out because of the good reviews the 2016 one had. One concern I have is the lifetime the laptop will have. I am going to hopefully pick up the higher end model with the core i7, 8/16gb of ram and 500+ ssd. I am hoping that it'll last me through the rest of high school (3 years) and maybe like 1 or 2 years of college. Maybe you guys can give me some insight on some of your guy's laptops.

Hi, I recently bought a Dell XPS 15 9550 with 32GB DDR4 memory, i7 6700HQ, and GTX 960. No matter what the task, light or heavy, my screen freezes for a second every so often. If I'm simply scrolling down a page of google it will freeze for a second and then pick up farther down the page. Youtube videos, games, Video Editing, and 3D Modeling (autodesk Maya) all have the same issue. I wasn't expecting an issue like this with such a nice system. Other than this problem, it is working perfectly. Any help is greatly appreciated Thanks, Zach

Hey guys, I was looking for a gaming laptop, but after awhile almost all the gaming laptops that I tried had problems. So, I gave up on getting a portable gaming laptop. (since I already got a beast of gaming rig). Anyway, I'm thinking of getting a dell xps 15, to replace my current macbook pro 13(2013) that I'm using. Should I wait for the new xps 15, which probably be much expensive than the old model. I can get the current one for 1900 dollars. I'm an EE student, and xps 15 should be overkill for me, since I gotten almost through my program using a mac lol... old xps 15

I have owned my dell xps 9570 i7 8750h since August. I have been having issues every now and then randomly. When I put a stress on the cpu it down clocks to an unnecessary amount. The temps are fine when it down clocks. I cant even render a video without it dropping the clock down. But when it doesn't down clock (below the base) I can easily render a video at 3.5Ghz Any ideas? Hi, I have an XPS 15 9560 from a couple years ago. A couple weeks ago, my battery (97whr - 6GTPY - GPM03) started its death spiral and eventually I pulled out the inflated thing and brought it to a nice big recycling center upstate. Now in searching for a replacement, I have already tried contacting Dell's Spare Parts department who have confirmed everything I have read in other forums (r/Dell and r/XPS) which is that they don't have any of the battery in stock and have no clue when it will become available again. I then started looking online to try to find a reputable seller with some decent reviews to back up the legitimacy of their "genuine OEM" product. Turns out I might as well been hunting for unicorns as I can't find a single source that seems legit enough to get me to spend my money with confidence. I am a full-time student with limited resources and I don't want to add more problems into my life buying a sketchy battery and having to pay for another. I have already checked out sellers on Amazon, who all seem to be pretty hit or miss. I found a couple options on Newegg but none of the products have reviews and the sellers are a bit hit or miss. (For example). I also found this at Walmart, but again, no reviews and I cannot find any info on the seller. I am wondering if any of you have the 9560, needed to replace the battery, and managed to find a decent source (or any to avoid). Thanks for your help,

Hello, I can’t chose between Razer blade 15 and Dell XPS 15 (9570). I am architecture student and use Revit, Photoshop, illustrator and 3Dmax daily. So GPU power is important. I would go with Razer blade but the big problem is that in 11 months I will leave USA and go back to Europe so after those 11 months if something happens to razer I am in trouble cause razer don’t have international warranty. The other choice is Dell XPS 15 9570 which have much weaker GPU but if I take premium support I will have international warranty and safety net if something happens after I leave USA. My question probably is which one to chose the one with much greater power but higher risk or safer but weaker option? And maybe some body use razer blade, how often do they break after first year use? P.s. I have heard that if laptop is fine after first few months then it should work good in long term. (No clue if it is true)

Hello there, I am thinking of purchasing this baby right here. I see that many people are complaining about the battery and that since it is has a 4k display it will drain battery really fast and I am confused...Can't someone just change the resolution to, let's say, 1920x1080? Or would there be any issues with the display and the apps? Thanks!

I've recently been looking at different laptops to use for school, light gaming, and other things like video production. In general, what I'm looking for in a laptop is good performance, affordability, portability, and good build quality. From what I can tell, the Dell XPS 15 9560 seems to fit those criteria. I've had it recommended to me by multiple friends, and I've seen it get a lot of praise from different reviewers, including Linus. The model that I'm interested in buying is the $1650 Core i7-7700HQ / GTX 1050 / 1080p non-touch version. I don't think I need 4k in such a small screen, and I don't want to have to downscale my games' resolution to play them. As for touch, I don't care about that too much in a laptop. The better battery life and lower price of this version as opposed to the 4k touch-enabled version just make it even better. I don't want What are your thoughts? Do you think that this would be a good investment to possibly last for the next four to six years?

Greetings, I'm an Architecture student who needed a powerful portable laptop. Currently I'm on 4th semester and i will use CAD soon. I also work part-time as a photographer/videographer. Currently I have a Sony Vaio with 4th Gen I5 dual core CPU with no discrete graphics. What I looking: 1. CPU: at least 45W Quad Core CPU 2. GPU: GTX 1050 is enough (don't know about mobile AMD side) 3. Portability: I'll travel a lot for surveying some place and carrying my DSLR, so a small form factor is a must. 4. Ports: SD card slot is needed so much. AT Least 1 USB Type A Port for legacy items and Type C for future (Doubt I'll need TB3) 5. Screen: Must be 15" class. Touchscreen is good, prefer more than Full HD. 6. Build: Simple but robust. PLEASE no gaming aesthetic Program I'll use a lot: Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere (sometimes), Illustrator, AutoCAD, Revit, 3DSmax, and other Design programs Games that I Played (Sometimes): Light/competitive games such as CSGO, Minecraft, PUBG, and Team Fortress. After I searched for good laptops, I chose XPS 15 9560 as a my first choice. But It's still using 7th Gen Intel CPU (Quad Core 45W H-version) with GTX 1050. The new 8th gen 45W CPU is around the corner now but I needed a new laptop ASAP. At least before march, because I'll only use Photoshop & Illustrator until half semester and my current laptop is still capable handling 2D Design. The 8th Gen U-Series is better than 7th gen with great margin, and i expect it'll the same with the H series. After i read some rumors, the new XPS 15 "9570" will arrived soon with Hexacore CPU and GTX 1060 which is nice. (Source: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Frank-Azor-drops-a-few-hints-about-the-XPS-15-9570-on-Twitter.263904.0.html). But there's no expected release date. I Lived in Indonesia and every new product (especially laptop) arrived around 2 months late. Another laptops in my wishlist: 1. Asus Zenbook Pro 15. The microSD slot is a deal breaker. 2. Macbook Pro 15. I like to try new platform but some program such as 3Ds Max isn't available for MacOS and also I always lost small peripherals. So dongle life isn't good for me. 3. Surface Book 2 15. Although it's the best laptop I've ever seen. It won't come to Indonesia and it'll be too expensive too. 4. Lenovo Yoga 15 720. Not-so-good build quallity and screen. 5. Dell Inspiron 15 7577. T H I C C and heavy. I waited CES 2018 but Dell only launched XPS 15 2in1 which is a total deal breaker (microSD, no USB A, Still unknown Vega GPU, and come after spring). Should I wait? Thank you and sorry for not-so-good English tho.

After a lot of searching , i have narrowed my choice of laptop to Dell XPS 15 and Asus UX501VW. But i simply can't decide between these two , as more and more i read reviews one of them becomes better than the other. However , I need to make up my mind. First of all Here are the configuration which i have selected for both of these laptops :- Dell XPS 15 (Current price on dell.com / $1399) : 17-6700HQ , 8GB DDR4, 256 SSD , 1080p , 960m 2GB , 56 Whr 3 cell battery. Asus UX501VW (Current price on Amazon.com / $1311) 17-6700HQ, 16GB DDR3, 512 SDD , 4K Touch , 960m 2GB , 96 Whr battery. I want to buy a laptop that i can easily carry around , can put under heavy load without having any performance issues (I am a Computer Science Major) and can also handle some AAA titles even at low settings but playable framerates. Battery life is also important, screen size not less than 15 inch (i haven't used any 13 inch laptop yet). Till now ASUS has more advantage than XPS 15 in-terms of Price-Performance Ratio , but i don't need 4k as it consumes too much battery and neither i need a touch-screen, Here XPS 15 looks more promising but then 56 Whr battery vs 96 Whr battery irritates me a lot because there is a version of XPS 15 with 84 Whr battery but that costs $1699 !!!! I need to finalize my decision between these two so i need someone who has either used these machines or is expert in laptops to give any useful suggestion or advice, or if someone has other better option under $1500. I have read that many software's and games are not compatible with 4k resolution , and therefore it's very difficult to use ASUS model. (I don't know much about this , just read from one or more reviews) P.S There is also another ASUS laptop K501UW (https://www.amazon.com/K501UW-AB78-15-6-inch-Full-HD-Gaming-Glacier/dp/B01DT49XN8/ref=sr_1_sc_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1474744140&sr=1-2-spell&keywords=Asus+kl) Any Expert Reviews on this version (K501UW) , it's price is $800-900.

Okay, So honestly I need advice on what i should do when my current computer kills itself. To elaborate, my current computer is the Asus Zenbook UX305FA (fan less intel core M, 256gb ssd, 8gb ram, 1080p screen) is at Asus currently pending replacement because since it didn't have a fan it always had the problem of getting hot. Till one day it just stopped working because the CPU solder broke and it stopped working. Then they didn't fix it so i sent it back but now I have to wait 3 weeks to get my new one...ugh I'm really pissed about that. But so i know it is going to do it again because it is just the nature of a first generation processor that has no fan. But so I am looking in to having a computer plan when this dies considering my warranty is up and I need a computer for school. So if this computer dies I wont be out of computer for much time. I do have access to a macbook air which I am and will use for school when I don't have a computer of my own. But I do not know what I should do in the event that this happens. My previous plan was to just buy a Dell XPS 15 9550 (i7 6700hq, 8gb DDR4, gtx 960m, 256gb PCIe ssd, 1080p non-touch 15.6" screen). Which would cost 1400-1500 dollars (US) depending on the software. But then I had the idea of what if I spend 500 dollars on a laptop for browsing the internet and school word processing. then spend 1000 dollars on a custom desktop setup (I would need to buy a monitor and peripherals). Which I pitched to my parents and they thought that was a grate idea. Also I want to start to get into editing; video, photography, and sound engineering. But I was thinking about my life style and the way that I work on stuff and what I like. And I wanted to go back to the XPS as my option. But I am having a problem deciding what to go for. My life style is very up and about and portable. I move around a lot and don't like sitting still for too long because I get board out of my mind. So that's why I was thinking the XPS for the portability but powerful computer all in one. But I was thinking desktop and laptop combo for ultimate power at home then ultra portable light carry for the go. But I like that I can be portable no matter where I am with the XPS and all of my data in one machine on one drive. Honestly I don't know what to do really, so I would like a little bit...okay a lot of advice. Also if possible advice on Desktop parts if you have any, or just computer ideas related to my subject at all. I can NOT spend more than 1500 US dollars on anything I do. Thanks.

Hey, So I'm planning to buy a new Laptop which I will be using for University and for gaming at home, on a 4k display, and on the go. The many difficulty in my case is that i will need a very good performing laptop, not only for gaming at home but also at my families holiday house. I also wanna have a thin and light laptop which i can carry to University everyday, because I don't really like switching deviceses all the time and I'm often working on Projects including 3D-Applications, on the go. So I started looking and found some Laptops like the Dell XPS 15, Msi Gs 60& 63. But I have some questioons to all of those laptops which haven't been covered in any review. 1. Does any one know if the Msi laptops support something like the Razer Core (which is hopefully awaylable sonn in europe to)? 2. Do you aviod the warrenty of an Msi laptop if you upgrade the M.2-SSD? 3. Does any one know if there is any possibility that the Xps 15 will launch with a gtx 10-Series graphics cardin the next view months? 4. Has anyone longterm experience with any of this devices in an somehow simular usecase? 5. Is there any other laptop which you would recommend to me, which is awaylable in europe? 6 Or would you consider it a better Idea to buy a laptop thats around 1000€/$ that supports a external gpu? thanks for your help

Good evening LTT forums. I feel like only really ignorant or really lazy people make posts like this but I've been tossing this around in my head for about 8 months now and I simply can't decide. I think that some of your advice would help greatly. So, like many many many people before me, I am going to be attending college soon and I will need a laptop to get me through college. Some criteria... Must to be able to handle running VMs while still using the original OS. I'm really interested in experimenting more with VMs but my current computer can't handle them very well. From my research that means it must have a high tier processor and a fair amount of RAM -- Is that correct? I'm kind of clueless at what makes a machine good at running VMs. Must be able to run decently demanding game titles. I think the most demanding title I'd have this laptop run is something like Tom Clancy's Rainbow Siege 6. Everything else would be less demanding. Must be able to run day to day gmail, google docs, school work things. Not entirely worried about this because pretty much any laptop on the market can handle those things right? Must have a battery that can last. Getting a laptop that has an average battery life of two hours is unacceptable to me. 5+ is preferred. Must be bearable to carry around all day. While I think 15 pound gaming laptops have their place, I have no use for one. Ideally, the laptop will be under 6 pounds but I can stretch a little there. My price point caps out at $2,500 Now on to what I've found... I've spent the last 8 months scouring the internet. I've watched too many laptop reviews and top ten laptops. I believe I have come up with two front runners... The New Razer Blade - QHD+ RAM 16GB DDR4 CPU Intel Core i7-6700HQ GPU GTX 1060 (6GB GDDR5 VRAM) Storage 512GB PCIe SSD Screen 14” Weight 4.30 lbs Price $2,299.99 (razerzone.com) Other Chroma Keyboard, Touch Screen Dell XPS 15 - 9550 RAM 16GB DDR4 CPU Intel Core i7-6700HQ GPU GTX 960 Storage 512GB SSD Screen 15” Weight 3.9 lbs Price $2,099.00 (Amazon) Other Touchscreen These are the two that I'm seriously considering the most. But I simply cannot decide between the two. Part of me thinks that even though it's 200 dollars more expensive for the Blade, the more advanced GPU would be worth it. But I honestly don't know. So my question is this: What are your thoughts? What am I missing? Thank you so much for taking the time. I'm sorry to bother you with my annoying laptop question.
