Hey, might be a stupid question but i noticed that my cpu is running hotter than usual. i noticed that i had a virus so i ran a antivirus. the virus was suspected as a crypto miner.restarted and ran it again and it seemed like it was removed. i noticed that it was still running hot and the one core is almost 16 degrees hotter than the other cores is this normal? why is it putting so much load on that one core? something ive turned off in bios by accident multithread or something? EDIT: the programs i had open was only chrome

I'm sort of new to the water cooling scene, from air on my last system to AIO on my new one. I've never really paid attention to temperatures before cause I was a noob, but now....well I want to understand and push my new system. What is considered normal temperatures when water cooling with the following equipment? Ryzen 1600X (Stock speeds. Not overclocked (yet)) Kraken X52 AIO (The general temperature in my room is about 24-26°C) First off, Ryzen has the most unmeasurable temperatures ever. I feel like through any application, including the AMD Master program, my temps fluctuate anywhere from 37°C-53°C when idle when fans are at full power. Is that normal? They are rarely consistent for me (looks like I'm not crazy here). Anyway, when gaming my temps are at 53°C-59°C. For the first time today as I was rapidly moving from benchmark to benchmark, I hit above 64°C, when of course CAM notified me, saying I'd shorten my processor's life if I kept it up. Thought that was weird since I wasn't even overclocked. So far, is the above considered normal with all fans at "full" and at the base 3.6 Ghz? Is 64°C while benchmarking without an overclock good for water cooling? (I have seen people hit these temps on the stock air cooler.) I'd like to overclock here soon, cause I know water cooling gives me the capability to. Could I overclock and still be "safe" on temps? What is actually considered "safe"? Finally, is this whole thing fishy, am I paranoid and all this is normal, or am I an idiot? **It is worth noting that I am going to go back into my case at some point and clean up my cables. BUT the main reason I'm going back in is to figure out the mess that is the Kraken Fans, cause they have this really odd splitter that I've never seen and there weren't any instructions on how to install them. They are spinning and displacing heat, so I did something right, but even at supposedly "full" blast, the fan speed is only ever at 35% and no higher (The other case fans do push 100% speed when called). SO I KNOW I DID SOMETHING WRONG, but still. What are some normal temps, and what can I look out for? And ASUS bloatware kind of took over the fan system and wants to program it itself.

Hi all, I just over locked my pentium g3258 to 4.0GHZ and at 100% load am getting about 85 degrees Celsius. Is this safe?

I want to know if you guys think this will actually work, my work consists in making renders with my CPU and GPU, mainly CPU, i have a threadripper 1920x at 3.5 hz and planning to OC it. The top temperature is 67 degrees and i want to lower them at least 5 degrees, so, i was thinking on buy 6 "nf-f12 ppc 24v 3000 pwm 120mm" for the radiator for the push/pull configuration and 4 "nf-A14 ppc 24v 3000 pwm 140mm" for the case. So i have a FX-6300 and noticed something is odd. My cpu idle temps were 15°C and at first I was suprised and relaxed about it. But then when i stress tested it (3,5 GHz), the temps were around 20-25°C. So I decided to overclock it to 3,9 GHz and do the stress test again. This time it was around 35-40°C and I was kinda worried. Is it possible that the temps are wrong and something is malfunctioning because this is too cool for a overclocked CPU. I use a mid tier Air Cooler.

hi i got a m.2 ssd samsung 970 pro during gaming and other load i sit on a 40-50c temp. im using a ab 350 g3 gigabyte board. so the position is sitting behind my first gpu which is a msi vega 56 air boost. is this normal and is it okay?

The story I did some pretty basic stuff on my PC. Just before it went to sh*t, I uninstalled some unnecessary software after a clean Windows 10 installation. And then suddenly, the PC powered down on it's own. It took me a while to figure out, but I found out that my CPU was the cause, not the MOBO I suspected to be the culprit. Anyway, I found out that my PC's processor overheated itself to abnormal levels. It starts quickly at 70 degrees celcius, then heats itself up to 99 degrees celcius in the matter of a half a minute, and then stays there. Now, even before and after I found out the issue, clearing the CMOS and everything else related to it, did nada nothing. I've tried booting from the second BIOS chip, and updating the BIOS even. But it still did nothing. And yes, before anyone asks, I put all the fans (except the top 3) to 100% fan speed, but it still heats up like all hell. Even doing a push/pull configuration on my AIO cooler did nothing. In the end, I wonder: Do I need to replace the CPU with another one, get a new MOBO, or what do I do in order to fix this? Oh yeah, by the way, I get postcode 00 for a split second before the PC powers down on it's own. PC specifications: MOBO: MSI X299 SLI PLUS CPU: Intel Core i7-7820X GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Aero 8GB OC RAM: Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB DDR4-2666MHz SSD: Samsung 960 EVO 250GB, 850 EVO 500GB, Kingston SSDNow V300 240GB HDD: WD20EARS 2TB, Toshiba HDWD110 1TB, ST1000DM003-1SB10C 1TB Case: Corsair Obsidian 450D Black Molex: NZXT Sentry 3, Pro SATA power cable Power: Corsair CX550M 550 Watt I doubt the PSU is the issue here by the way. It's been doing just fine with these parts. That's about it Would really appreciate some help from you guys. I'll provide a screenshot from when I tried to flash the BIOS that shows the temperature. Hello, I noticed my Intel core i5-7600k is running around 50 degrees Celsius at idle. When i started a stress test it went up to around 91 degrees. I don't get why. My case is air cooled with 3 case fans 1 stock and 2 noctua) and my CPU cooler is an Be Quiet Pure Rock Fullsize. Do you guys have any ideas?

Wondering what other people's temps are with their i7-4790K's running stock speeds with air cooling. Answer the poll above and post what Air Cooler Heatsink you're using. Or maybe I should make a Google Form for this... I've toyed around with the idea that it's possible I either choose the wrong heatsink, or I'm just overreacting here. This is why I'm openly asking what other people's temps are with their i7-4790K's running stock on air cooling. My i7-4790K is around 50 degrees Celsius at stock 4.0GHz with a Phanteks TC12LS air cooler. This is at IDLE, under load it goes up to 80 Celsius. Is this optimal?

My CPU is getting really hot, (well I think is too hot) 117 degrees Celsius and at 95c as I'm typing this. My fan is fine, no dust any where inside case, I have a cooling pad which I use al the time and fresh install of windows 10 (so no extra processes). I had an a6 4400m in it witch had the same temps if not hotter with max of 100c that I have upgraded to an a8 4500m witch is only suppose to go up to 105c, as you can see my temps go over the max. btw I use hwmonitor to see my temps Should I ignore it? Hello community of the LinusTechTips forum! I'm very sorry for one of my first posts on this forum to be a plea for help, but I currently have two problems with my PC, one which I shall detail within this thread. Anyway, the title really explains my problem here. I would consider myself very knowledgeable about the subject of IT and usually would be able to fix any problem I would have with my PC after a little poking around, however this one seems to be one of the most hindering I have had to date. So as you know from my title, my CPU (3570k) is running extremely hot! I'm talking 90~ degrees Celsius when playing a game such as DotA 2 and streaming at the same time, which definitely should not be the case, and I wouldn't care run Prime 95 knowing that just doing those two activities already make my CPU run hot. Now, I will say that the temperature does not hit 90 degrees Celsius instantly; instead it climbs to it gradually over the span of roughly 10 minutes. Just playing a game however, the CPU only really gets to around 80~, which is still rather bad considering that the CPU is currently only overclocked to 3.8 GHz, however I used to have it overclocked to 4.2 GHz, and the temperatures were about 105 degrees Celsius after playing just DotA 2 for about 30 mins or so. It is also worth noting that the temperatures are reproducible by playing most games, such as Insurgency or H1Z1. Here are some screenshots of my temperature after playing a 15 minute game in DotA 2 after streaming, as well as a screenshot of HWMonitor. (Ignore the temps in HWMonitor, I did not have the program open whilst playing or streaming). Due to my awful, lengthy way of conveying information I have tried to bold some of the key information that you may need. Here is some additional info: My CPU cooler is the Hyper 212 Evo My case is the HAF 912 Plus My motherboard (shown in the HWMonitor picture) is the ASRock Z77 Extreme4 Also a few months ago I reapplied thermal paste to my CPU to try and solve the problem, and there wasn't much of a difference. I did not apply too much or too little.

Hello, Yesterday I got a new CPU, the Intel Core i7-4790K with the stock cooler. I was looking for the temperatures because I've heard they are high. I found out it ran at 65 degrees celcius (149 fahrenheit) when it ran at 20% of full load. I got the stock cooler. I ran the CPU at 100% load with Prime95 and the temps were exceeding 93 degrees celcius! When I run the CPU at 5% it is 43 degrees average. Are these temps safe? Specs: Intel Core i7-4790K GTX 970 ASUS H81-Gamer 2x 4GB DDR3 DIMMs 600W PSU

Ok, i need help here guys, im worried about one of my Galax HOF 980 reaching 90 degrees celsius (even 94 in rare ocasions) when gaming in full load. I got an SLI of them, and they are really close from each other, i though that was the problem, but when i tried decreasing the clock (to 1.200 the default is 1300 and 1400 with boost link to afterburner configuration) the temps stayed exactly the same.. The fans are set to be at 90% when the temps reach 80 degrees. as you can see the temp from the top card in idle is 65 and the bottom one is 45. (sorry for the bad english and really ugly format, im in a hurry) http://imgur.com/a/wDTrl<- these are the photos of the pc, the bottom and front fans are all set to maximum for better air flow, the cards got 3 fans and are made from top quality materials, the bottom card usually got 60-70 at full load, the ambient temperature is not that high, 25 degrees celsius i think 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Should i be worried about this? (90 degrees in one card) if yes how can i fix it? the motherboard only allows me to use the cards in these positions. All the components are new.

so guys, im about to build my first custom loop. here is what im kind of unsure about though. my set up will be roughly the same as the pic above with the way the tubing will run and the rads will be placed but with the pump mounted on the rad/fan at the bottom . both the 360mm rad at the top and the 240mm rad at the bottom will be cooled by 120mm noctua 2000rpm fans three for the top rad two for the bottom. then there will also be two 140 noctua 2000rpm fans at the front of the case and one at the exaust. what i want to know is the best way i should position the fans and rads (push, pull, fans on inside or ouside etc) thanks for any help. also i am not using sli it will be one 5930k processor and 1 titan x sc

So I started rendering a video in Sony Vegas and after 30 seconds all four cores where at 95c! I've recently changed the render settings I am using, so it gives me much better quality:file size. I'm using the stock cooler and with my old settings it used to sit at 75c-80c at full load when rendering. I know most of you will tell me to get an aftermarket cooler, don't worry I will, just got other things to buy first Is it normal to for a 4790k to reach 95c at full load? I've only had the CPU for two months and that seems pretty damn hot... I cancelled the render as soon as I saw the temperature!

I just installed the H80i, after having the H60 for so long. I decided to use pre-applied thermal paste. Once setup, I booted up BF4 for a test... temps ranged from 68-72 degrees after having played for around 20mins. Does this seem too high? Also, I had all graphical settings to ULTRA preset (4x MSAA)... Note: Fans installed to radiator bring air from outside (pull-push configuration). -
Hello guys, A few months ago I build my first PC, but I didn't go for an aftermarket CPU cooler because I'm using a i7 4790 (non k, so no overclocking) The CPU temps are about 75 degrees celsius under load (Prime 95). Are these temps safe? Or should I buy an aftermarket cooler? I have the Gigabyte GA-F2A88X-UP4 and I'm using the AMD Athlon X4 860k. I fear I am getting insane CPU temps Ever since I installed the CPU, I have been getting very weird and crazy temperature readings from both my bios and temperature reading software. In the BIOS, it tells me the CPU is at 65ºC, but over time it will increase to 70ºC-75ºC. In HWMonitor, it is reading around 60ºC-65ºC at idle, and a CRAZY 80ºC-85ºC reading under load. In CoreTemp, it is giving me a weird reading, saying it's around 15ºC at idle and 35ºC under load. My PC is well-cooled. I have two intake fans in the front and two exhaust fans on the top-back. However, I'm using the stock AMD cooler. I am going to get the Corsair H60 or H80i soon. Could my sensor be broken if I'm getting these weird readings? -
These two seem very competitive thermal solutions. I want to be able to have lower CPU temps both in idle and load.

Hey Guys I have recently bought 2 R9 290's and i run them in crossfire but i have been having a problem as one runs in idle at 85 degrees at GPU Load 1%, the other shows as 0 degrees and apparently is not running at all. please any information would be appreciated. The picture added is not crossfire enabled although both cards are in the pc. -Cazz

Hi everybody! So I recently bought a H100i and downloaded Corsair Link with it. I'm not really used to it and I was wondering, is there a way to make it so that when my CPU's temperature rises that my fans spin more?

So I'm playing BF4 right now and my graphics card sounds like its going to explode, I checked MSI Afterburner and its at nearly 80 degrees Celsius. Should I be scared? Is it because I didn't install my PSU upright and instead downwards? Note: When I turn the fan speed up to 75 the temperature goes down to like 40-50, should I just keep it loud, fast, and cool?
