Hey all. Just ordered mostly a new rig. Just wondering if anyone with a Fractal Define S has tried putting an original corsair H100 water cooler front-mounted in the case? I'm hoping the hoses are long enough, even if I have to put the fans inside, pushing through the rad into the case. Anyone else try it? New parts I have ordered: Zotac GTX1070 AMP! Edition Intel i7-6700K Asus Z170-E 16GB (2x8) Corsair Vengeance LPX 2400 C14 DDR4 1.2V Fractal Define S Parts I'm using from my old rig: Corsair H100 Corsair HX850w Mushkin 256GB Chronos Deluxe SSD (Going to be replaced sometime in January or February for an M.2 NVME Drive) 3x 1.5TB WD Green drives (Raid 5) (Also getting replaced within a few months)

Hey LTT members! Currently i'm dealing with negative air pressure in my Define S case. Current setup fans+radiators: Front: 360mm Radiator with 3x Noiseblocker XL-1 1000RPM (they barely move air throught the radiator)(max RPM of these fans are 1000RPM) Top: 280mm Radiator with 2x Noctua NF-A14 PWM LTT edition (800RPM) Back: 1x Noctua NF-F12 LTT edition (800RPM) (i use this fan as a case fan because it was a left over fan, might aswell use it right ) so i know what you're thinking, just turn the back case fan around as a intake. well yes but i like to have my front fans do all the intake and i don't want a dustfilter on the back either.. also i don't like to use the bottom case fan since that dustfilter is a pain in the *** to clean and to remove in my setup since you pull that filter out the back... so my question is: would replacing my front Noiseblocker fans with high static pressure fans give me more airflow and get positive air pressure in my case? like i said above these noiseblocker XL-1 fans don't push much air through the radiator at all since they are case fans and not really optimal for radiators. if i replace the front fans to improve airflow(if it improves airflow at all), what fans do you recommend? (i need good 120mm fans to go on a radiator, they need to push enough air to get me positive air pressure and they need to be 3pin fans because i'm using a splitter) thx in advance,

(in all of this, I'm referring to the Define S as my case, and the Z270-A as my motherboard) I built my first entire PC from scratch about a week ago. Everything is fine except for the front audio ports. I have headphones and speakers, but only the green audio port in the back of my mobo works. All the connectors from the front are fine, the power button, restart, usb ports, but not the audio port. When I plug in my headphones, there's nothing and its not detected in realtek. When I plug my speakers in, hissing. I've checked my motherboard at this point many times to see if I plugged everything in correctly, and I'm fairly certain I have. Double checked manual as well. I just didn't know what to do at this point, so I posted here. Thanks for reading

I am about to buy cablemod widebeam LED-stripes for my Define S. I was wondering if the case is magnetic, so I could get the magnetic version of the LEDs, or should I go with the foam adhesive version.
-
is the power-supply shroud and different storage location between the two worth the 30 dollar price difference? i think you can hide the cables better? I'm not sure. I saw reviews for both of them and I love the way it works. I'm just not sure if the 2 added features are worth it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811352055&cm_re=define_s-_-11-352-055-_-Product http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811352063&cm_re=define_c-_-11-352-063-_-Product

Hello, building my first rig, I bought a Fractal design define S and a corsair RM750x PSU. The case has excellent noise dampening, including anti-vibration foam mounts for the PSU that also double as an insulator for electric current. With the PSU being grounded by the plug, should I additionally ground the case on the PSU or is it OK to leave it as it is? thank you

Hello guys, I am wondering if there is any news, gossip or signs that Fractal Design might release an upgrade to the Define S to update it with features similar to Define R6 or release some kind of Meshify S the same size as Define S(which would be even better cooling wise). Fractal are a bit slow when it comes to updating their cases, not long ago they didn't even have tempered glass options but I am hopeful that they will revise the S at some point in the not too distant future. What do you think?

Hello all, I noticed some scratches on my acrylic side window of the define s (PSU cables were hanging against it). The scratches are clearly visable, but i cant feel them. Does anyone know how to repair/remove the scraches. The only thing I found online was using a buffingwheel, but I dont have acces to that kind of equipment.
-
Unfortunately I didnt find any other thread about this topic. But i guess i am not the only one with this problem so let me explain it: I have a fractal design define s already with the acrylic side window, but it is scratch all over the place and all in all doesnt look that nice anymore. So i thought I could just replace it with a tempered glass one. But i recognized the window is hold on with a small "lip", can I just dremel/file it off? if so i would just use a u-channel and stick the new window in. Is this possible? Has anyone ever done it? Is it difficult? Can I do something wrong? So much questions and no answers to them in the endless web. *~*

Hi, does anyone know where I can get my hands on a fractal design define s side panel. The one I've got now was dented and I cant get the dent out. I've been looking for one and I like the look of the ones where the whole panel is glass but the original will do If anyone finds any please send links or if anyone has one to sell me DM me on twitter (@_Juanos)

I posted a similar post yesterday regarding the Corsair 750D or 450D but after doing further research I've changed my mind for the Fractal Design Define S or the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX. Now obviously the Enthoo Evolv ATX is a lot more expensive due to it being an aluminium construction and including more features and aesthetics as well as better build quality. However for me the important thing is the cooling capability of either case, especially since I'm strictly air cooling. Now on one hand the Define S has room for 3X 140/120mm front intake fans, where as the Enthoo Evolv has room 3X 120mm front intake or 2X 140mm. With this in mind would it be better to have 3X 140mm or 3X 120mm for the front intake. Another thing I'm concerned with is that since both of these cases have a solid front panel meaning that the intake fans may be starved of air? I'm not sure it just appears like that based on the pictures I've seen. Thanks, GR412.

Hello, I am planning to buy a Fractal Design Define S case (with Window) in the near future for my PC upgrade. I want to cool this System with a Thermaltake Water 3.0 Ultimate. It is a 360mm AIO Watercooler. Now I have some questions. 1. Has anyone some experience with this case? How is the build Quality, is the window very easily scrached? 2. How it the build Quality tof the Thermaltake Water 3.0 Ulitmate? 3. Does the Thermaltake Water 3.0 Ultimate fit in the Front or in the Top of the case. I have read, that the Define S can fit a 360mm Radiator in the front and in the top. But I am concerned, that this radiator might not fit because it is a little bigger than 360mm. And with my Phanteks Entho evolv ITX I couldn't fit a 280mm corsair H110i GT in the top. I just want to make sure it will fit. 4. Are the tubes of the AIO long enough to be mounted in the front? Any better suggestions for an AIO. I am pretty sure, that I will get the Define S because I have some good experiences with other Fracta Cases. Sorry for any bad english, I am not a native speaker. And already thank you for our answears. Robolon

I'm building my first pc, http://pcpartpicker.com/list/2HZPXH , and I wasn't really sure how many fans/liquid cooler I need or what size. Also, is a thermal compound and a fan controller really necessary?
-
Hey guys. Im buying a gaming PC with the Define S case and wanted to know how to setup my fans in this case. I have a couple of questions: 1 - The Define S (window edition) can house 8 fans overall in the case, 3x120/140 in the front, 3x120/140 on top,1x120/140 on the back, 1x120/140 at the bottom if i'm not mistaken. First of all i would like to know if its either necessary or even recommended to mount fans in all of those spots. For now i will probably have the Corsair H115i (280) liquid cooler on top as exhaust. i have 6 open spots left. Would you recommend adding another 140 on top and will it be intake or exhaust? Would you recommend 3x140 or 3x120 fans in the front as intake? On the back i will put a 140 fan as exhaust. should i have a 120/140 fan at the bottom or will that be useless ? and if i should would you say intake or exhaust? I plan on using Corsair AF140 Red Quiet Edition for airflow in my case, i know Noctua has better fans but i hate the way they look and i also have a window and my pc is a red/black color scheme so those will work great. also heard they are pretty quiet and good so if i am wrong please tell me. 2.I'm a guy who likes aesthetics and a PC to look clean (even if its my first real one) would you say filling up all those spots make the PC look good or not ? i know beauty depends on the eye of the consumer but overall people can see ugly when its ugly and beauty when its beautiful (playboy proves that ). 3.Will too many fans make my PC too loud or are the Corsair fans quiet enough ? 4.are the fans on the Corsair H115i good enough ? overall this is what i would like my interior to resemble, even tho this case is different then the Define S (this one is Corsair Carbide 540 Air). Build: Motherboard: Asus Maximus VIII Hero Alpha. CPU: i7 6700K. CPU Cooler: Corsair H115i. RAM: G.Skill Trident Z DDR4 (2x 8 GB) 3200 MHz. PSU: Corsair AX860i. SSD: Samsung 850 Pro 512GB. HHD: Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB. Keyboard: Corsair Vengeance K95 RGB. Mouse: Logitech G502 RGB . Thank you for your thoughts and suggestions.

Hey Guys. I'm almost done picking the parts for my new dream build (also my first build) and my last decision is between the Phanteks EVOLV with the Tempered Glass on both sides and the Define S by Fractal Design. If i was living in the UK or US i would definitely choose the Phanteks EVOLV no questions asked but since i do not and in my country you can't even find the EVOLV and only the Define S, the price difference between the two is overwhelming (EVOLV with shipping and tax etc.). This is the price difference: Fractal Design Define S (Window): 100$ Phanteks EVOLV (Tempered Glass): 500-520$ As you can see the price difference is enormous, i could actually buy 5 Define S cases for the price of one EVOLV case. The reason i started this topic was first to understand how much better is the EVOLV case over the Define S case. Would also want to know if the EVOLV case is worth 500$ and is it 400$ better then the Define S case. Would also like to know why the Define S overall is such a cheap case, is it because of cheap components ? no matter which case i put the Define S up against the Define S is always cheaper, even cheaper then the Define R5 case which is older with less airflow space.... is it just a big beautiful case with a lot of cheap components and inconvenient placements and problems ? or is it just because Fractal Design wanted to sell it for cheap so more would buy ? Other cases costs in my country for you to get the feel of prices: *Maybe somewhere in here is a case better then the Define S and EVOLV so let me know what you think " Corsair Obsidian 450D: 145$ CoolerMaster MasterCase 5: 145$ Fractal Design Define R5 (Window): 158$ NZXT H440: 161$ Corsair Obsidian 750D Airflow Edition: 197$ CoolerMaster MasterCase Pro 5: 204$ Corsair Graphite 760T: 241$ Corsair Graphite 780T: 244$ Corsair Obsidian 900D: 440-485$ Build: Motherboard: Asus Maximus VIII Hero Alpha. CPU: i7 6700K. CPU Cooler: Corsair H115i. RAM: Corsair Vengeance Red LED 32GB (2 x 16GB) 3000 MHz or 3200 MHz. PSU: Corsair AX860i. SSD: Samsung 850 Pro 512GB. HHD: Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB. Keyboard: Corsair Vengeance K95 RGB. Mouse: Logitech G502 RGB . System: Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit. Monitor (in the future): Acer Predator X34 or X34P Thank you for your thoughts and opinions

Hey guys, I'm getting a Define S, and I was wondering if you think this would be enough cooling. I was thinking of moving the front fan to the bottom next to the PSU to feed my 1070FE (I got it for $379, thanks local Best Buy!) directly, and use the front for my H100i, as to keep the moduvents in to keep it quiet. Thanks for your input, m9s.

The nzxt does display my ssd while the define s does not. I do like the fact that everything is also put in the back away from sight on the define s. Buuuut the define s has room and expansion for radiators. Does the nzxt have the same ability?

Hey guys, I am building in the Fractal Design Define S and have some questions regarding the setup of the case's cooling solutions. First, you probably want to know more about the system right? Here's a link to the PC Partpicker component list: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/8cvn7h For those of you that didn't want to go look, I will be running an i7-6700K, Asus TUF Sabertooth Z170 S, Gigabyte Xtreme Gaming 1080 (Water cooled version preferably but I might have to settle for air cooled), EVGA 850W 80+Titanium PSU, 4X8GB of Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200 RAM, and all of that in the Fractal Design Define S. My question is if I am going with an AIO liquid cooler which should I go with? I am debating between the Kraken X61 (280mm Rad) (which I have already purchased) or sending it back to get a Thermaltake Water 3.0 Ultimate (360mm Rad). I was planning on mounting the rad to the front of the case which I know a lot of people say is not okay but Jayztwocents says that it really doesn't matter. Therefore, is it better to go with the louder option of mounting the Kraken X61 to the top of the case (on exhaust) with three 140mm fans at the front (on intake), one 140mm fan on bottom (on intake), and one 140mm fan on the back (on exhaust) OR is it better to go with the Thermaltake Water 3.0 Ultimate on the front (on intake) with it's three 120mm fans, one 140mm fan on bottom (on intake), and only one 140mm fan on the back (on exhaust), with the possibility of adding a radiator to the top (on exhaust) for the possibly water cooled GTX 1080 I would like to get? I know this is a really long winded question, but any information you might have would be GREATLY appreciated!

Any Cases Comparable to the Define S by Fractal Design
spiralfuzion posted a topic in Power Supplies
I can't seem to find a non mini one on newegg. I don't like the nzxt s340 It's so popular and would like something in the range of the define s. Or a place I can find the define s. -
Hey, so after my Paul Walker build i wanted something new, it's not so much i didn't like my build but i like to keep changing things up! Paul Walker build here: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/510507-finally-finished-my-build-paul-walker-tribute-s340/ There's no real story behind this build other then i wanted to paint a case and do some art work. no difference in hardware really but here are all the parts that were used: -CPU i7-4790k 4.6ghz @1.28V -GPU Gigabyte GTX1070 G1 Gming 8GB -PSU EVGA 850 G2 -CASE Fractal design Define S - Window -MOBO MSI Z97 Krait -RAM Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB -SSD Crucial mx200 -HDD Seagate Barracuda 1 TB -LED Hue+ -Cable CableMod E-Series G2 / P2 Cable Kit - BLACK / WHITE Fans, Front3x Noiseblocker ultra quiet xl1 - Back1x LTT Noctua NF-F12 - Top2x LTT Noctua NF-A14's on the 280mm Radiator. things i painted/modded etc: Here's some pictures of the painting progress and the finishd product: http://imgur.com/a/rE84K here are the pictures of the full build: http://imgur.com/a/EUsC7 i know some people didn't like the fact i painted this case white, but i'm a fan of white cases and this case was not available in white at the time. highest cpu temp with aida64 was 61C highest gpu temp with valley for 30min was 37C ambient temp was 21C Hope you like my build and let me know below what think of it!

I'm building my system soon, and wondered where to put the fans. I'm getting a Define S, and a 280mm watercooler. I am also getting a Corsair AF140 quiet. I was thinking of putting the AF140 in the front, (Don't like ModuVent) but I wondered if I should put it at the top or the bottom of the front. I am going to put the radiator in front also, so... should I put the fan on top or bottom? (The other specs are in my signature)
