I'm using the included stand on a sturdy desk. It started occasionally making little crinkly noises, quieter than a bowl of Rice Krispies. I figured it was just thermal expansion. It popped while I was typing an email. There is nothing under it, behind it, on top, and nothing hit it. I have a Samsung warranty ticket, but it's going to take two weeks before the 3rd party service tech can see if it's worth fixing. Get the extra warranty.

Hi folks I recently bought the AW2721D dell monitor. Everything's working well with my system when I game and do other task. When I go to lunch OBS it shows a blank screen. Sometimes it will show my desktop with my mouse moving around, but when I go to lunch a game it will still show my desktop like it's stuck on the same frame from where it lunched from. For instance even when on my desktop when it rarely shares a display.. I mean rarely because it hardly ever shows anything besides a black screen it will show my desktop. I will go to move a shortcut around with my mouse on my desktop. It will show my mouse moving across the screen while I have a icon clicked moving, but I doesn't show the icon. It shows the icon still at the same place. Like I said it seems to be stuck on the same frame, but it will still show my mouse moving about. I have set OBS to lunch as administrator every time. I have switch display ports on GPU along with trying a HDMI cable. I have tried lowering my refresh rate from 240hz all the way to 60hz. I've tried disabling G-Sync. Uninstalling OBS. Trying Stream Labs. Driver updates for the monitor. Installing Alienware software. Uninstalling Alienware software. Resting my monitor to factory. Calling Alienware tech support for 2hours. I've unplug my other monitor to see if that was a issue too. The only thing I haven't done is smashed it with a baseball bat. I have a second monitor that works perfectly fine with OBS on the same setup. So I know its not my PC or Drivers. I have the AW3420DW pretty much the same monitor. Everything works good with OBS and Gaming... I don't want to stream or game on a 34inch, It doesn't feel right to me. I got it for workstation. Its mounted above my 27 inch that I got for gaming/streaming. I called Amazon to get a exchange started, but it's past the 30 day window so it has to be authorized by a supervisor. Not sure If I will be able to exchange it or not. Might have to buy another one and send the one I have back on a new return:) Has anyone had any issues like this? Anything else I could try or is it defective?

So. I went to unlock my phone last night and lo and behold, it wouldn't register the touch. I looked at the scanner, expecting it to be dirty, and I noticed that there was what looked like a paint chip on my finger. Scanner hasn't worked since and after talking to a Google-Approved repair company, it seems like this becoming somewhat common for Pixel 5's. Pic attached. Let me know what you think.

Hello! So after a restart today it seemed like all ports are broken except one of them. I do not know how or why, but all I know is that im too broke for a GPU in 2021. By the way, Any advice? I tried installing all drivers again and a few restarts.

I recently built a new computer and while plugging in my headphones i heard a very quiet rattling noise coming from the PSU. I have an HX1000 Platinum. It is very quiet and I can basically only hear it if I put my ear right next to it. It just stresses me out a bit because I dont want it to eventually lead to a bigger problem and damage my other components. Is this normal and does anybody have any idea what this is? (The video makes it sound 100x louder than it actually is) also that’s the only noise the PSU makes it’s very quiet if i’m not right next to it IMG_0657.MOV

Experience with caseking.de and ASUS Germany and What should I do? Experience with caseking.de and ASUS Germany. In mid-December when I was using my PC (specs at the time 4090 TUF OC, MSI x570 Unify, 5950x, 32 GB 2x16 Corsair Dominator 3600, 1TB Samsung 980 pro, windows 10 pro), my monitors suddenly went black and you could still hear the sound from the PC apps . After reboot, the second monitor refused to turn on when the first one was above 165Hz and on the first reboot, the GPU was showing as faulty in Device Manager. After that, the crashes happened again and again at irregular intervals, you couldn't do anything on the PC. I reported this to the customer service at caseking.de and they said I should send the graphics card to their RMA department. After some time I was told that everything was fine with the GPU (what was sent to me as proof that the graphics card was tested was a screenshot of the GPU running Furmark) that if I really want to know they can send it to ASUS and it can take up to a month, you have to consider the GPU wasn't even 3 months old at the time. I asked caseking.de to send the GPU back to me. It arrived and I thought it was something to do with the Windows installation. Since I use Acronis, I can go back several months without reinstalling Windows. After that everything worked for 1 day and then it started again. This time I contacted ASUS directly and after describing the problem, the person with whom I spoke tried to blame everything on the mainboard and told me that if I really want to, I can send my GPU to their RMA department, which I did. At the meantime I bought a new mainboard, new SSD, tested my memory and waited for the response from ASUS. The GPU was returned without prior notice within a week with the comment "could not replicate". I used the time to rebuild my computer and prepare everything. Installed this time fresh Windows 11 and the crashes happened again after a day, this time with artifacts on the first screen and frozen image on the second. I then contacted ASUS again and was instructed to contact their RMA department, which I did. Since then they've been ghosting me. While waiting for the answer I got another RTX 4090 from MSI And it runs without any problems and crashes, which prompts me to ask a question, are they playing dumb or playing for time. What should I do?

so i got a R9 270, sold as defect because of artifacts, for $10 thinking i might be able to do something with it, or that it was caused by some extenal factor and if not it was just $10 anyway. iv replaced the exessive shitloads of thermalpaste thinking that might have been a problem because it looked like it was high silver content stuff and aplied the stuff Noctua sends with their coolers but that did nothing for me. i have tried all display outputs exept for DP because i have no use for DP because i have no cables or monitors that use it. i saw nothing visiually wrong with it, no blown caps or stuff like that from what i could see so if anyone has any idea then tell me, id love to fix it up(not bakeing it, i dont have a spare oven). thanks for any help

Hello Friends, i need your help, guys! My brother had an old i7 4770, GTX 970 system staying around for like 1,5 years or so, because he switched to using his Laptop as his daily driver. Now he thought, that it would be a nice idea to reuse the system. At least because it´s there and it would be a complete waste to have it just staying around and collecting dust. So we both decided to install a SSD in it and reinstall windows. The installation process went absolutely well, but then we put the power cable in the power supply and there was kind of a electrical noise coming from the power supply. After that we immediatly pulled the cable out of it and overlooked it, if it has any signs of burn damage through an electrical discharge or so, but we found nothing at all. I know, it could be there, even if we cant see it. Then we put the power cable back in the power supply, pressed the power button aaaaaaaaaaand nothing. I disassembled every not 100% necessary cable out of the system and nothing works. So this is the situation now. We dont know if only the power supply is dead or the other components as well. Is there any way to make at least a guess if the other components are dead without damaging other parts, that we have laying around? I have another power supply in my PC as well, but we dont want to kill it too by installing it in my brother´s pc. Am I right, when I say that the best option, that we have is buying a cheapo power supply from amazon and try starting it with that? This is my first Post, so .. hi linus tech tips forum :D big fan :D I assure you, that the damage does not come from letting it fall down even tho i learned every thing i know about PCs from Linus :D joke haha

Hello, I am looking into buying a used Samsung Ativ Book 9 from 2013 (i7 4500U). According to the seller the laptop shuts down when being moved. I am very inexperienced with these kinds of issues and was wondering if this is a common problem with laptops. My suspicion is that the battery connection of battery itsself is defective, is that a plausible suggestion? In case I'll buy it, my plan would be to take it apart, check all connectors and reapply thermal paste. In case anybody has experience with issues like this, I would really appreciate hearing about it!

I bought a second hand Crossover 34U100 (which is basically a Samsung C34F791WQ or a Microboard M340CLZ) but I have a weird phenomenon. There appears to be some weird vertical lines in the screen only noticable on bright and plain colors. It is very hard to take a picture of the issue but I have found a picture online which does resemble it quite well (see attached image). It seems like every other pixel row has a darker color. I don't know why. Is this something I can fix? It seems to be hardware related since the issue also exists with a different system.

Today I built my first pc. And everything went right until I hit the power button. My system didn't boot. My cpu fan was spinning, my case fans were spinning and my graphics card fans were spinning. But I had no video output and my front io didn't supply any power. What could cause this problem? Hello! My monitor recently got a dark patch at the bottom of the screen (see attached pic). It's not always there when turning on the screen, but always appears after some time. Is this a hardware issue? I should also note it only happens on my second monitor. Thanks for the help!

Hello, I purchased an Asus VG27AQL1A monitor 2 days ago and noticed that the color of the lower right part of the screen is a little bit darker when viewing solid white or lighter colors. I'm not sure if this is considered a defect or if it's just because of my viewing angle. I'm not sure if this is considered an IPS glow either since it doesn't show when viewing black or even other solid colors like red, blue, green, etc. Would really appreciate some advice regarding this. I uploaded a video on google drive viewing from different angles. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1iaeGtTM3NnB5eyjFJGgHS9QHzEfe9dWh?usp=sharing PS. I have not calibrated this monitor yet because I'm pretty new with this type of monitor

I just got a new Aorus F127Q because I honestly couldn’t stand the absolutely horrible contrast on the 27GL850, plus my unit had terrible backlight bleed. Anyway, everything seems to be great about the F127Q but it makes a strange pretty high pitched buzzing noise. It’s not really that noticeable, especially with headphones on but still pretty weird. What could be the cause of this and can I fix it without replacing it?

A few weeks ago lightning hit my house and the resulting power surge broke some electronic stuff, including my custom NAS-Build. The PC was still powering on (fans and drives spinning), but i did not connect to my network or output a video signal when connecting a monitor. Conveniently the mainboard doesn't have a Debug-LED or even the option to connect an internal speaker, so i had to let it sit until i got around to troubleshooting it today. Please note that the build was running fine for some months prior to this happening. After a short while of removing component after component and trying to power it on again i figured out it only didn't boot when trying to run dual channel memory, both memory modules were working fine in single channel mode. Some online research revealed, that this could have to do with broken or bent CPU pins, so i checked that next. When removing the CPU i noticed a pin that seemed like the tip was broken or burnt off (see attachment). I think it's pin G-15 in the attached diagram and has something to do with power delivery for DDR3 memory, so that may be the issue. Another problem i ran into when trying to boot with only one RAM module was the PC not recognizing any boot media, even tough the SSD was showing up in the BIOS and booting properly on another system. Although i'm not sure if this has anything to do with the aforementioned problem or is just due to me missing some setting. Specs: ASRock H61M-ITX Mainboard Intel Core i3-2120 2x4GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1333MHz 64GB SanDisk SSD Now I'm not really sure what to do next. Is the damaged pin the cause of my problems? How did it suddenly get damaged? Did the power surge somehow cause it to burn out? Hope you guys can help me with that, thanks in advance.

Hey there. In just a few hours it seems, these streaks have developed in my Asus VG248QE. They look like fingerprint smudges at first, but after gently rubbing with a microfiber cloth, they do not disappear. To confirm my suspicions, I used a flashlight to check for smudges on the screen, and behold, that spot was clean. I plan on warrantying my display tomorrow since I purchased an extended warranty for it, but does anyone have any idea of what these are? I got an, admittedly, crappy picture below. It's the best I could get. They're significantly more apparent in-person than in the photo. There's also one to the left, stretching vertically, and there's one above these stretching across about 60-70% of the monitor's width in a smile shape. They weren't there around 7:00 this morning when I went to sleep. I was gaming and doing photo editing all night; I would've seen them. I booted my computer up around 2:00 PM today, and lo and behold, they were there. So they occurred somewhere during the seven hours my computer was turned off. I'm at a loss.

Hello, first time here had some questions about my monitor I just bought and thought maybe someone here can shed some light on what I should do because I'm kina at a crossroads. Anyways, four days ago I bought the Acer XB241H as it was the only monitor I could find that had 24" g-sync with flickerfree and a shadow boost that met my 350$ limit(sale) and was in a lot of postive reviews and "top 10 or top 5" lists I came across, Upon turning on the display for first time and using it for day or two I couldn't really notice anything, but then there was steam, and other solid color websites that used somewhat dark shades that were easy on the eyes such as NV's site what it is after doing tons of research is some kind of clouding defect to my knowledge that takes up a good portion i'd say at least 50% of the middle part of the screen. In these four screenshots you can see where I highlighted it, with the most obvious annoying parts on the leftmost and rightmost part of the screen in the form of symmetrical C shapes, it should be noted that I have tried the ICC profile and any number of OSD setting changes and all it does is make it worse, my bet is that they did that on purpose so it would be the least noticeable to the general user that fire's up the monitor. So that would be the first issue. The second one is that it's suppose to be an 8-bit 24 truecolor TN panel but I'm seeing all kinds of horrid banding in movies and random images that looks more along the lines of a windows XP era old Tube-CRT monitor on 16 bit color for example stuff like the westworld or alteredcarbon intro, where there is lots of smooth graded scenes fading in and out creates circle shape banding where any kind of gradient or fade of color would be, again have tried all OSD settings and ICC profile to correct with no-avail just worse. My question is wether I should RMA it or try to get a refund since their "special predator support" they have is just a call center for your typical RMA request in witch I was not even offered a new replacement, just servicing this unit. I cant in my right mind even begin to think that a 400$ USD monitor should be displaying such problems regardless of ANY panel type, anyways here's the images for reference, my camera isn't the best but if used and switched with the highlight picture I made you can just barley make out where the horrid mess of "clouding" is on the screen. https://i.imgur.com/nhDC0TM.jpg https://i.imgur.com/0wIcEfg.jpg https://i.imgur.com/QTj25Ut.jpg https://i.imgur.com/6QZwEKW.jpg

Hello,After using my new ASUS VG248QE monitor for a few hours I began to notice a very strange visual anomaly. Whenever anything bright moves against a dark background it leaves a strong red trail/after image that persists for a second or two. This only happens on the right side of the screen in a very specific region (roughly 40% of the screen is affected). Things such as the mouse cursor or the ASUS on screen display leave behind persistent red after images that gradually fade away. When I watch videos or game on the monitor the entire picture is severely affected as anytime something moves on the right side of the screen there are garish red smudges. This issue is very different to "ghosting" and is not effected by slow response time. Instead it appears to be a hardware failure in the panel itself.I have included some photos that show the issue and an animated gif that I recorded to show what the issue looks like in motion:https://i.imgur.com/l6dzC4i.jpghttps://i.imgur.com/1b5stxn.jpghttps://i.imgur.com/d0idS8K.mp4In regards to trouble shooting the problem myself I have tried 3 different cables (2 displayport, 1 HDMI), various refresh rates (144hz, 120hz, 100hz, 60hz, etc) and every setting in the OSD and Nvidia Control Panel but nothing fixes the problem. This is actually my THIRD VG248QE I have received in the past two weeks as the other two were sent back for having horrendous backlight bleed issues. Incidentally this current monitor with the red trail issue also has horrendous backlight bleed too...Here is a photo of the current VG248QE (left) next to a Samsung monitor (right):https://i.imgur.com/i4BSm1R.jpgEach VG248QE monitor I have received has had this same backlight issue where the central portion of the display is clouded by large blobs of light. Initially I felt that this was a one off problem but after going through three monitors that have all presented the same visual defect I have lost faith in ASUS.Do these monitors even undergo any quality assurance tests at all? if so how is it possible that I have received three defective ASUS products in a row! I am thoroughly fed up with the whole situation and at this point am considering giving up on the VG248QE (and ASUS) all together...

I just pre-order an EVGA GTX 1080 FTW on Newegg and I've always been curious how common coil whine is. I guess you can say it's me being paranoid but I'm still wondering how it works and if there's ways to fix it. (research I've already done hasn't helped too much).

I bought Asus MX259H monitor a week ago. This monitor disappointed me a lot! First of all color reproduction is crap. The stand is ok. Actually pretty solid. But the rest (upper board) is made very cheaply. Yellowish tone of colors just freaks me out. Tried to calibrate it, but this didn't help much. Skin tone is much butter on my Sony TV. And after a week of usage that one White Sparkling Dot right in the center of the monitor came out. It produces colors in some way, but you can guess how annoying it is. I rubbed that spot. It disappeared and came back again. I pressed the monitor from back. Pressed from sides. Manipulated that cheaply made board. And that spot has gone. It looks like something inside the board was pressing the LED board behind the pixels or something else. Is it considered to be a defect ? Should I RMA it before it is too late ? I am afraid this can come back. I have never expected ASUS to make a crap like this! P.S RMA probably will cost about 60 euros ( shipping etc.). And RMA does not guarantee that I will not get another defected product. So I actually don't know what to do. Can that white spot come back permanently ? Is this considered to be a defect at all ? What is the best way for me ? Can I repair it myself if it comes back ?

I was asked by a friend of mine who gave me the fund to build his PC and he was concerned about asking for manufacturer refund if something happens. I couldn't give him a more definite answer and I wanted to know from the community. What constitutes as a defect that may occur along the road and if it's still under warranty/returns acceptable? Barely overclocking? Overheating? Micro-stutter? Artifact?
