Hi, i have a Laptop "Acer Nitro 5 r9 rtx 3070 an515-45", it has integrated GPU(AMD Radeon Graphics) as well as dedicated GPU(RTX3070). can we switch the integrated GPU to power the external monitor connected through HDMI rather than HDMI is powered by dedicated GPU.

So I have the following model. asus rog zephyrus g15 ga502iv with the r9 4900hs and rtx 2060 max-q. I have dug through many forums and tried many work arounds that would work for my desktop. The one that irritated me the most was disabling the integrated graphics through the control panel. This should have been an easy fix. No. It made it to where I actually lost even more frames! Went from 26fps to 5 because apparently the design for this thing forces the designated gpu (rtx 2060) to run through the integrated gpu on the processor. I can see my frames jump through the roof as they should when I pull a program up in front of whatever my game as the processor worries about that program (it seems). Then allows the rtx card to do its job in the background. (Atleast that's my first thought) So what I'm wondering is if this is a poor engineering design? Bad drivers? Is this all this thing can do unless I use a Display port to an external monitor? I hope and pray there is an answer out there. I have looked over armoury and there is no igpu option and any manual overriding through windows or nvidia control panel does nothing. That reminds me however that when I go to the Nvidia control panel, on the phy-x panel it shows the monitor only going through the integrated graphics. Which is puzzling in of its self. It makes me wonder if this is how AMD intended this to work or if there is an issue with my particular laptop. It's very frustrating as I would like to use it for gaming while on the road for work. Any answers or other ideas would be a blessing.

Hello, I am looking to buy a new gaming laptop but am running a tight, budget can't wait any longer though. What would be a good suggestion within 850$ (US) with or without tax? I am looking forward to use it for next 4 years (approximately).

Lately my 4-year-old gtx 1060 from kfa2 has become unbearably loud to the point that I am distracted when studying. I am guessing that its up to a hardware issue because the fan speed is misreported in msi afterburner and the manual fan speed adjustment does not work. The temps are also fine and there is little to no dust in the fans. Now my solution is to remove the dedicated gpu before studying and installing it before I game. Its pretty cumbersome, but just unplugging the power from the gpu and plugging the monitor into the motherboard leads to no image when starting. Is there a faster way to disable the dedicated gpu? I know this is just a temporary solution, but I do not have to money to buy a shiny new gpu. I’m using windows 10. tldr: How can I make it run on my Nvidia GPU instead of the Intel iGPU? Is it as simple as setting it up in Nvidia control panel, or is that not recommended? (I don't want to mess something up) specs in sig (ideapad)

Good afternoon, So I currently have a desktop which I hardly use at the moment, I am finding that I am need something that's more portable, I use it for gaming but also my degree in Cyber Security which involves coding and digital creation etc. I currently have: Ryzen 5 3600 Asus GTX 1060 OC 16GB Crucial RAM ASRock B450 MB Now I am looking at trading in my device for a laptop with a dedicated GPU at least a 20 series card, looking at thunderbolt as I have a HD that I want to use with an enclosure etc with the aim of eventually making it into a NAS. The place I use is going to have a look and see what he can get for me, and will take off trade in for the desktop. He has one in the shop which is Medion Erasure with 2070 at around £600. It's not a brand I have heard of before and wanted to see what others thought, also if you have any others you could recommend that would be in that price range although I don't mind paying a little extra to upgrade so would be happy with an older laptop that would give me more for money. Situation: I have a decently powerful laptop, an XPS 15 9510, i9-11900H, with a 3050ti dedicated GPU running windows 10 pro. Recently I updated my graphics drivers and that's when I noticed the problem. I also updated my system with the newest patches. I did not have this issue until now. games that have run smoothly and quickly in the past now stutter and lag. Problem: It seems that the laptop switches from my dedicated GPU to the integrated GPU after a certain amount of time running different applications. I've noticed this through significant performance drops in various games after about a minute of playing, and through the performance logs in Task Manager, where a spike in the iGPU usage corresponds with a drop in the dGPU usage (you can see it in the graph on the sidebar). The first screenshot is in a graphically intensive game, the second one less so. I have tried setting the graphics settings per app to "high performance" in settings I have tried using the NVIDIA control panel to set the overall preference to the 3050ti I have tried using the NVIDIA control panel to set the per-app preference to the 3050ti the problem has persisted I did find another thread describing the same issue from a few years back, though I did not see mentioned any way to fix the issue: At this point if I can't find a fix here, I plan on looking into disabling my iGPU to see if that fixes anything. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Edit: I Just tried some other games, TF2 doesn't seem to be using the 3050ti at all, despite having been set to do so in all the systems mentioned above, and is having major black screen flashing issues the entire time. the "graphically intensive game" I eluded to before somehow performs even worse now? using even less of the 3050ti before switching to the iGPU. The only games that run okay are the ones that can naturally run off the iGPU.

Hello, I'm trying to put together a PC (from my spare parts, Ryzen 1800X, AM4 itx board, Sapphire Radeon HD RX480) mainly used for emulation (Batocera), but my itx case space options are limited. I'm looking for a case with dimensions like... W: max. 310mm, H: max. 100mm, D: max. 350mm; can anyone suggest anything appropriate? Thank you.

My laptop doesn't use it's Dedicated GPU the Rx 460 but it is correctly installed and my AMD drivers are also correctly installed. I tried updating both drivers my iGPU and my dGPU using the Device Manager and the AMD Radeon Software. I don't know how to fix this so I installed GPU Z to see if my Dedicated GPU is working but somehow I got this results: This is my Integrated GPU and it's the one that keeps getting used instead of my Dedicated GPU This is my Dedicated GPU and I don't know what's the problem

So like a year ago, the epic games launcher refuses to launch, but I got it working by right klicking it and run it on my iGpu (hd 520). Since then, many games, like Minecraft, Satisfactory and raft wont run on my dedicated gpu (mostly black screens, or unreal engine crashing). since it´s not that much of a problam in Minecraft and I was playing more intense games like raft on my main PC, it wasnßt much of a problem, but since I now donßt have always acces to my main PC anymore (due to quarantine) I spent much mor time gaming on my laptop and since it has a dedicated Gpu in it that´s not that powerfull, but still better then the hd 520. I am gettting like 20 FPS in Satisfactory, that I´m into now at lowest settings at 720p, wich is defenitly not a great experience, so please help me.

Hello everybody! My gfs laptop is so outdated and cosmetically destroyed that we decided it should be replaced. So my friend is looking for a (very) cheap laptop capable of some light gaming at lower settings. I've found this laptop with an Intel i5 4210U and an AMD R7 M260 for £329. My question is: does AMD have software similar to Nvidia Optimus for their GPUs in laptops? Because he'll also be using this as a laptop for college, it needs to have at least decent battery life. So I want to know whether it'll use the Intel iGPU to drive the display, Word, Chrome, etc. and then use the AMD dGPU when he launches up a game, and if he can set when to use the iGPU and when to use the dGPU manually like you can with an Intel iGPU + Nvidia dGPU setup. Hello there, I'm trying to find some help regarding my friend's PC. His build: Ryzen 3 2200g Rx 570 4GB Asus B350 Plus motherboard 8GB Corsair DDR4 The problem is his PC is using the integrated VEGA 8 in his processor instead of the 570. The task manager is showing up heavy usage of the Ve ga 8, however the 570 is sitting at 0%. We tried many things to fix this, we updated and reinstalled the drivers, we tried to change it in BIOS, we couldn't find the System Agent Config setting in there, so no fixing for us. We are still trying to do something, but nothing works. If anyone knows what we could do with this, please help us. Any help is very appreciated. The image i attached is showing the absence of the System Agent setting, where we should find the PCI setting.

Ok some I'm going to cut to the chase because that title must have you thinking what!? Anyhow I'm running a 980 ti with the latest drivers. I recently have got more into watching HEVC and VP9 content, the 980 ti dosent have full hardware decode support. But my system has a 7700k with an iGPU that can hardware decode HEVC and VP9! So problem solved right! Use iGPU for video decode and the 980ti for everything else. Well I thought that but I have come across two stange behaviours and I'm wondering if people have answers or fixes. First off I'm going to state this. My 980ti is still set to be the primary display adapter, this way I only have to tell programs to use the iGPU in Windows Settings, since easier since all I can do is set Chrome, VLC and any other software I'm gonna be watching videos in boom done. Scenario 1: Both monitors connected to 980 ti, HD 630 enabled, Chrome, VLC set to use HD 630. Video Hardware decoding flawless, but when browsing some webpages and sites like Facebook, it can stutter, if stop scrolling do nothing then resume their is delay and I gets annoying quickly, things like replying to messages become slow to respond to my input . I chalked this up to the iGPU essentially having nothing to do when not doing any load this is what causes the delay to occur. This is the first side of the issue, I came up with a fix for that issue but that's where it gets more interesting to me and where I think the fix could be found. Scenario 2: Primary Monitor is driven by 980 ti, Second monitor by the HD 630, Chrome and VLC still set to use HD 630. Behold I was right, now the iGPU is driving a display it no longer lags in Facebook or when scrolling it's butter smooth. VLC plays fine and uses the 630 to decode HEVC. However the moment I try to play a Video in YouTube, Chrome freezes and the Nvidia driver crashes out. After it crashes many times it will block Chrome from accessing the 980 ti at which point the setup works as intended until that instance of Chrome is closed. If both displays are connected to the 980 ti and one is switched to the iGPU during playback, no issues occur. Even attempting to use Edge the same behaviour occurs. However again on Facebook Video plays fine and Task Manger shows that the HD 630 is hardware decoding the video, no crashes occur in any browser or video driver. I'm basically at a loss. For now I just went back to the 980 ti, iGPU disabled. I know it's not the perfect setup, but the 980 ti is still amazing and I have this iGPU sitting here that has the hardware decoders the 980 to lacks. Why won't it play ball? I'm sure I figured the first example out but unless I'm constantly forcing a load on the iGPU it causes that massive delay and then to fix that, giving it a display to drive I end up with the issue of YouTube crashing out the Nvidia driver constantly.... Really I wanna know what's the fault... Is it the Nvidia driver? Chrome? YouTube itself? All three of those work fine for viewing video on Facebook with the HD 630 as the gpu render for Chrome. Also I know I could try it the other way. But I don't want to spend forever adding every game and graphics intensive resource in a list. I only basically want programs that can make use of the HD 630s better hardware decoding to utilize it that's what both these uses cases do. They don't even touch the iGPU unless it's for a program I want to have the extra decode support in, which is basically just Chrome, VLC, Kodi etc Any advice would be appreciated. Maybe this is something I should talk to Google and Nvidia about? A bug maybe. Just stange how it only happens with YouTube.

So not a long time ago I bough myself a laptop for everyday use/some adobe app quick work. Laptop is Dell Inspiron 15 (5593). It has 2 graphics cards on board. Integrated Intel HD and Dedicated Geforce MX230. The issue is that I cannot find any way to completely switch my system to run on a dedicated GPU. For some reason system constantly battles by switching GPUs in the middle of games and causing utterly annoying stuttering in the process. After monitoring MSI Afterburner for a while I noticed that both graphics always do the work and you can clearly see when they suddenly switch between each other by looking at the graphs. Now heres a small list of things I have tried: - Setting Nvidia High Performance as the main graphics rendered in global settings. - Setting Nvidia High Performance as the main graphics render in game specific settings (Spintiers Mudrunner for example) - I tried looking in the BIOS if there was an option to force only Nvidia GPU to do the work but there were no settings related to GPU in the BIOS at all. Is there anything else I can do? Or is it just a dead cause...

I will study abroad next semester as an industrial enginneer and i'm loking for a not too much expensive lapto that allows me to work with 3d model , blueprints ,simulation programs , calculus tools... all things that i will need as and enggineer. So surfing the net i fall int 12 gb ram laptops with nviadi gt 940m and things like that.So foundig 12 gb of ram as something extrange turns out that with caracteristics i want ( more than 8 gb, dedicated gpu ,i5 last generation or i7 or equivalent and reasonable hd space) and less than 1000 €( including beloved windows 10 wich is compatible with all of my software) So I write here to ask . 12 gb is ok , has any usual problmes being such extrange number ?. Do you know better options?. Thank pfor your atention. I have an intel skylake core I5 6400 @ 2.70GHZ Quad Core, GTX 960 2GB, GT 740 2GB, ASrock Z170 Pro4. I would like to dedicate my GT 740 2GB to a Windows 10 VM so I can game on it whilst leaving my 960 on the host. Please can someone help, my mouse and keyboard work on the VM and are dedicated but I need the GT 740 to be dedicated to the VM. The second display is connected to my 960 and I would like to get the VM to use the 740 to do the hard work. Thanks in advance -Jadi

I am looking to purchase a laptop that is portable (will carry every day), will last through college (hs senior in fall, graduating 2021 probably cs major), and can handle video game programming (Unity, maybe UR4).I also would like to possibly do video editing (Vegas pro 13), and I do some CAD at school (Inventor). In terms of playing games, that's not a huge consideration, but I would assume it would, as it will probably need a dedicated GPU etc. to make them.I should preface that I have a powerful desktop I built (2 970s sli) and this is primarily for when I'm not at home.I can spend upwards of $900 right now, but will something in this price range be portable and powerful enough, and last me through college? Would a higher price point better meet my needs?Thanks!

I've been playing Borderlands 2 recently and I've discovered that PhysX chews up my framerate like crazy when I get into large fights. I'm using a 760, which should be able to run PhysX just fine by itself, however I also added a gt640 I had for dedicated PhysX, and the problem still persists. I've looked around and seen some things like limiting the max number of PhysX particles, but it seems that my newer copy of Borderlands doesn't have those setting any more (probs got patched once people complained). I should be able to run the game butter smooth with my setup, but it lags all the way down to 15 fps with PhysX on high. So, does anyone know a fix for this? I suspect for some reason neither GPU's are rendering the PhysX and it's actually my CPU, however the Nvidia overlay that tells you doesn't seem to want to work for me so I can't tell.
