Hi all Does anyone have experience with putting a RTX 4070 in an older system? Is it a viable upgrade? I see conflicting information about it. I understand there will be some bottleneck (even at 1440p) but I am thinking about upgrading this from a 3060ti (that I got for free, after my old 2080 was rmaed) but I struggle in some of the newer games with my current setup. I am very hesitent in terms of making a new rig atm, due to the current pricing and the value of higher RTX cards. So do anyone have experience with this or a similar combo? the PCIe is Gen 3. Will the 4070 be much impacted by gen3 and the older system? So far it seems the 4070 is the best value of the 40th series. Its around 670 euro here (prices are very high in my region)

Budget is 2500-3600 euro Scandinavia I play various games (all from small indie games, to the new mainstream ones) and also use blender, etc. I use 1440p (My current setup is on my profile) The goal of the build is to be somewhat silent machine, that is able to pull of great performance on 1440p gaming. Currently setup is starting to struggle on certain games, even on lower settings. Currently I have tried to pick various solutions. Some have semi prebuild, some needs to be self build (none of it does any difference to me) Cheapest seems to be semi prebuild. Current idea. Case - Be Quiet! Silent Base 601 GPU - ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4070 Ti OC CPU - Intel Core i7-13700KF CPU Cooling - Phanteks Glacier One 360MP CPU Watercooling Ram - Kingston FURY Beast RGB DDR5 5600MHz 32GB (CL 40) SSD - 2x (one for os and one for gaming only) Kingston FURY Renegade PCIe M.2 NVME SSD 2TB Motherboard - ASUS ROG STRIX Z790-F GAMING WIFI Motherboard ASUS PSU - ROG Strix 850, 850W PSU I have been thinking about a few other watercooling options, but this one seemed to have alright reviews and seems to be rather silent. Any suggestions or ideas to what could be swapped for either better synergy or even performance without being too costly. I have and respect AMD options as well, but have decided to go for Intel/Nvidia setup and 4080 is too expenssive from a cost benefit perspective in my region. Often my builds last 5-6 years (I often do swap a new better GPU in around 3-4 year mark) I look forward to some feedback.

I am passionate about processors as I am an avid AMD broski. Instead of studying for exams, I wrote this essay on why they are better than Intel's.\ In recent years, the competition between AMD and Intel in the processor market has become more intense. While Intel has traditionally been the market leader, AMD has made significant strides with its Ryzen processors, and many argue that AMD is now the better choice for consumers. In this essay, we will explore the reasons why AMD processors are better than Intel's. One of the most compelling arguments in favor of AMD is that its processors offer better value for money. Intel's processors are often significantly more expensive than AMD's, yet they do not always offer a significant performance advantage. In contrast, AMD's Ryzen processors are generally priced more competitively, and they often outperform Intel's processors in benchmarks. Another advantage of AMD processors is that they offer more cores and threads. This is particularly important for tasks that require a lot of processing power, such as gaming or video editing. For example, the Ryzen 9 5950X has 16 cores and 32 threads, while Intel's equivalent, the Core i9-11900K, has only 8 cores and 16 threads. This means that the Ryzen processor can handle more complex tasks and run multiple applications simultaneously without slowing down. AMD processors also tend to consume less power than their Intel counterparts. This is partly due to the fact that AMD uses a more advanced manufacturing process, which allows them to produce processors that are more power-efficient. Additionally, AMD's processors are more optimized for multi-threaded workloads, which means they can achieve higher performance while consuming less power. Another key advantage of AMD processors is that they are more flexible than Intel's. For example, AMD's AM4 socket is compatible with a wide range of processors, from the budget-friendly Ryzen 3 to the high-end Ryzen 9. In contrast, Intel's LGA 1200 socket only supports a limited range of processors, which can be frustrating for consumers who want to upgrade their system without having to buy a new motherboard. Finally, AMD has made significant strides in recent years in terms of software optimization. Many popular software applications are now optimized for AMD processors, which means they can take advantage of the additional cores and threads. This means that users can expect better performance from their AMD processors when running demanding applications. In conclusion, while Intel has long been the market leader in the processor market, AMD has made significant strides in recent years and is now a serious contender. AMD processors offer better value for money, more cores and threads, lower power consumption, greater flexibility, and better software optimization. For these reasons, it is fair to say that AMD processors are now better than Intel's.

I've decided to get a 3060, but I'm still deciding whether to get the 3060TI or the base 3060. 2 monitors are all I really need and getting more would be unnecessary, but my question here is, should I value more vram from the base 3060, or the supposedly greater cuda cores from the TI model? to gather more info, I edit 1080p on premiere pro, 3 favourite games of mine are unmodded GTA V, CSGO, and minecraft with shaders on, and I always watch a long video/stream/movie on my secondary monitor while I game

Looking at building a new pc soon. Iv always been more of an AMD fan due to their "under dog" position on everything yet as far as GPU's go I have always gone Nvidia. I know intel is coming out with a gpu soon but since it does not look like it will be to exciting im not planning on waiting for it. I was wondering what every one's opinion on the ethics of Nvidia as a company. I feel the have a monopoly on high-end gamer GPUs and personaly am considering going with a 5700xt over a 2070 super due to the monopoly that nivida has on the market. The big question for me is are Nvidias engineers so much better then every one else so they can make the best products or are they doing anything sketchy to hold the rest of the market back? Let me know what you guys think. Found some data- AMD spends about 400 million quarterly on research for their products. Nvidia spends about 750 million quarterly on their products. considering most of Nvidias products revovle around graphics one could assume a large portion of that went towards gpus AMD has a wide range of products and I would say most of that would have gone into CPUs vs GPUs. I think it would be safe to assume that AMD is just not trying to dethrown 2 giants at once. So due to this I might be going with green eggs and ham for this build.

I thought it would be nice to have a sounding board here for anyone who wishes to raise concerns or seeks clarification on Trumps behavior and/or actions. Not only that but lets also put everything politically related on the table. Nothing is off limits politically or ideologically. All I ask is that we keep the debate somewhat friendly and respectful. Even if we have differences of opinion does not mean we cant learn from each other or grow in a better understanding of the topic at hand. All that being said I will list a few examples and if we don't generate any interest I will pose some of my own questions to y 'all a little bit later in the day. Lists below are by no means exhaustive. And feel free to add your own talking points. 1) Abortion2) LGBT Adoption Rights3) Gay Marriage4) Planned Parenthood Funding5) Gender Identity6) Confederate Flag7) Death Penalty 8) First Amendment 9) Safe Spaces10) Political Correctness 11) Climate Change 12) EPA: Obama vs Trump Policy Regulations 13) Energy Sector Obama vs Trump 14) Obamacare 15) Border control - i.e. Do you support the wall 16) Sanctuary Cities 17) Gun Control

Thanks for dropping by and I need to sum up my attitude and views on this topic to avoid confusion later on. For the majority of my life I have been a console gamer, I had absolutely no problems with any of my consoles and the most recent one I owned was the PS4. I loved my console, I really did and I never noticed any of the things that people say about consoles today like the 30fps lock, no 4k or outdated hardware because I was never looking at articles or videos or said this and I had never really known what a smooth 60fps was like so 30fps felt natural to me. About 3 years ago I started to watch some gameplay of TF2 and I absolutely loved the look of it so I downloaded steam to get it and this was the start of my experience with PC gaming. I had an awful little office PC but I didn't know anything about computer parts at this time. For 2 years I gamed happily on this machine but eventually it just wouldn't open steam so I bought the PC I have now with a 1050ti and an I7 4790. I just was interested why people like either console or PC because I really don't know with all the PC master race garbage. If anybody drops a comment then il try to give a unbiased response and thanks again for checking out this thread

You've hear my word, i want to know which monitors are the most serious contenders by the following conditions. 1.''Freesync or not?'' - I wish a real debate on whether or not Freesync is worth it, as Freesync monitors are a bit most expensive, would'nt it be better to buy a slightly more quality monitor and sacrifice freesync? even more in if you are not a competitive first person shooter player? I mean, with a rx480, it's indeed for gaming, but not everyone plays crysis3 and stuff... 2.''Resolution'' - The more the better, but we still have to keep it balanced with the RX480's performance to achieve decent performances for the upcoming games (say 2-3 years from now) 3.''size'' - once again the more the better, but it needs balance with the resolution if we are to stare at something nice 3,5.''refresh rate'' - dafuq is that? lol 4.''Price'' - the best value the better, i don't care if it's 500$ as long as it's worth 800$ if you know what i mean... Tho let's try to stay in the mid range, most accessible panels. (i doubt someone with a single RX480 will decide to buy that unless he's mad. (https://www.asus.com/us/Monitors/ROG-SWIFT-PG348Q/) (sorry if you actually bought that with an rx480) 5.''Quality/warranty/lifespan'' - let's try to avoid shady companies, bad lifespans, products with known problems and such... El Cheapo Del China ;P 6.''Other'' - well, if you have other ideas or relevant points to bring, DO IT! ;P So there you have it, let's discuss the best contender to suit the RX480 here, in this magnificient Topic

Hey audiophiles! Could I have an honest review/comparison of these two headphones: 1. V-Moda 100m 2. Oppo PM-3 for the sub-$400 price range. I am a intermediate/amateur music producer who wants stellar sound quality, but with no artificial boost to any of the frequency range (especially the highs and lows, which have a tendency to be unnecessarily boosted for a wider and more distorted sound). Which headphone should I get for my ~$400 headphone? Thanks for your help!

Hello everyone, I hope everyone is having a great day / evening. First I will start with my Rig- CPU: Inter I7-4790K CPU @ 4.0Ghz GPU: Geforce EVGA GTX980 RAM:16GB Currently running a low end BenQ 1080 Display G2320HDBL. ( Have always runned a low quality TN panel) My main thing I do with my computer is playing games such as: WoW, LoL,Rocket League, CoD & TF2 . as you can see I play more Multiplayer Games rather then single player graphical astonishing games. I would rather turn down my graphical settings to get a steady FPS (around 60-70) then play at max settings (the big diffrence are the shadows , which to be honest making the shadow perfectly portray the charecter is not the most incredible feature in my opinion ) that being said I would love playing at MAX settings all the time. Furthoremore I do not play competitivly or anything remote to that, I play for fun. Now that's that out of the way we will get to the real discussion and questions: As the title says: 1080 TN 144Hz or 1440p IPS panel and more Specificly - AOC G2460PG-Gsync Version (575$ in my country) Or Dell Ultrasharp 2515H 1440p ( 400$ in my country). People have talked about the diffrences of both screens, the advanteges and the disadvantages so i am not going to be asking which is better I am going to state some ideas and reviews I have found while searching for the "answer", hoping people that have used both screens can shed some light on the issue. Many people have suggested that the "smoothness" of 144 hz (or higher the 60 HZ) refresh rates is something so incredible you can not go back, THIS is a huge aspect for me ... This statement is really powerfull. On the other hand people have clearly stated the colour reproduction and intensity on IPS panels is better then TN panels, and going from 1080p to 1440p will be quite a jump (Just like i had from 1600X1024 to full HD). Unfortunatly I don't have any store I can check both screens out, so my questions are as follows: 1. Is the jump from 1080p to 1440p a good jump to take given my rig ? 2. 1440p means more pixels = a more detailed graphical interface in games? or just more "workspace" (Sorry havn't figured this out yet) 3. Does going from IPS panel to TN panel have a the same impact of "wow, not going back to that ever.." as going from 60Hz to 144Hz.? 4. what does OC'ing a screen mean? Is it safe for the screen? can it be done on this specific screen (U2515H)? Not the biggest issue but still: Cost= 175$ diffrence is definitly not that big of a diffrence but compering both prices It's close to 45% (From The Dell) which is a BIG deal. (The Dell screen is roughly 30% cheaper ) Looks = Well I have to say that for me the Dell screen looks "cleaner" and more elegent looking. Viewing angles= It's no matter I face the screen directly.. Thank you everyone who spares a moment (or a couple of them) to help me out, Yair.

Hi. I'd like to change and upgrade a few things on my PC and one of them is the case. Keep in mind that i have evo 212 and a procesor that i might overlock and i would like my case to fit them. I dont actually care how good it looks(does count) i just want it to fit my things and have some kind of cooling. Can you give me some names of "cheap cases"? or what you recomend. Sorry for my bad writing... havent' slept in 18 hours

Okay so I'm having a bit of an argument with a female friend of mine. She is very fluent with PC things and knows what she's talking about. We were just in a Skype call where I was working on a computer case. She asked what it was (because she couldn't see it very well) and I said: 'Working on a computer case mod' to which she responded: 'You mean shell?' Long story short, she's convinced the name for a computer enclosure is shell. She told me to prove that it was called a case (without using Wikipedia because there's a whole article on that) so I figured, why not LTT? Thanks you guys!

**NOTE!** This is not a advertisement for Unity3D nor am I affiliated with Unity3D! Alright so as the title has implied what do you think of Unity3D? and the future of indie friendly game engines like Unity? With so many 3D and 2D game engines coming out that allow for rapid development, Unity is one of the top hits among indie developers and the likes. With Unity's 3D and 2D functionality you can make games in Unity to your hearts content because Unity's main language is C# it is very easy to begin scripting because lets admit it C# is a darn easy programming language! Now this is not to say that Unity isn't the only easy to use 3D and 2D game engine out there there is also Unreal Engine 4 which can give you stunning graphics with minimal work and with Unreal Engine 4's Blueprint visual scripting it is hands down another top hit among indie developers but it's undeniable that Unity's UI is more user friendly and with Unity 5. Unity can also sport some really stunning graphics. So what do you think of Unity? This brings me to my last question what do you think of the future of Unity and the direction of these types of game engines as a whole?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2369135/ The Need For Speed movie...ill admit the plot is kindof meh but its a go fast car movie, im not really lookin for a plot. This is very much like a FnF movie with one HUGE difference. Its vastly more realistic. The car and general action stunts are really really amazing while being immensely toned down as compared to a movie like the last few FnF movies, which were awesome, but increasingly unrealistic that leaves you with more of a "pssshhh yeah fuckin right" instead of a "holy shit that was awesome!" The movie gets a 6.6 on IMDB which is actually an alright score but on its release it was bemoaned by critics and torn down for a cheap FnF wannabe.

This is a thread dedicated for debating !! First topic .... :- If superman is the man of steel ... Does that make him 96% iron man ?? Can werewolves swim ?? These are just spoof topics for fun ... But , maybe later on .. We can conduct full fledged debates with actual and intresting topics about techs and maybe how much we hate politics and how will the world end ?? Or who will win the ww3 ?? Or. Similar topics like can we retreat to mars ?? Suggest the topics !! Edit :- if I get 5 good enough topics which are intellectually challenging as well as intresting ... I'll conduct anither poll to choose the topic and we can have a debate !!

NCIX: http://bit.ly/1FSSmuH Amazon: http://geni.us/36SF Luke met some extremely passionate fans at PAX East 2015, and decided to get their opinions on a pretty sensitive topic - which is better, PC or console? Disclaimer: Luke is a die-hard PC supporter. He does not actually stand behind most of the points he brings up in defense of consoles, and simply stated them for entertainment value. Hence the title, "Luke Trolls PAX East 2015."

Hi folks, So I'm not really interested in the next generation CPUs or for now the i7. I do have a future build in mind but I wanted to wrangle a little debate which could influence future buying decisions. In short if you upgrade to the next gen cpu you have to upgrade ram and motherboard. But if you stick with the i7 in three or four years your looking to be out of date and you're not taking advantage of next gen features. Even if you are saving a bunch of money. So my question is... Should we be buying next gen at extra money and no benefit now but all nice upgrades will be compatible, and 4k and 5k possible, or should we be buying current gen and risk being left behind? As I say I have a build in mind which includes the i5 and the gtx 980. I think we all eventually want 4k gaming... Which path should we take? So please comment current gen or next gen? If you had a budget of $2600 (picked out of the air but I wanted money to be limited, if we all had cash to spare we wouldn't hesitate for next gen) what would you do? Budget should include peripherals and operating system.

So, everybody thinks that 8.1 is a flop, and it is. It's not as bad as vista, but still a tablet os on a pc. Windows 7 was truly amazing. Which one would you choose for a new rig and why?
