So I finished putting together my new gaming/work PC a week ago. The specs are Ryzen 7 7800x3d, 64gb 5600mhz ddr5 ram, rtx 3080 ti, msi b650m-p pro motherboard, 1000w gigabyte psu, and two 2tb kingston nvmes. It was working perfectly until yesterday when I saw that the ram was only using around 4000mhz and I immediately realized I forgot to turn on the xmp profile in my bios. After going into the bios and turning on said xmp profile, my pc immediately shut down and refused to boot, the motherboard displaying a red light on the cpu and a yellow light on the dram, it wouldn't even boot into bios. After an hour of panicking and then half an hour of research, I found out that the new AM5 chipset doesn't work well with xmp profiles. I then manually flashed the newest bios update and removed the cmos battery to take the motherboard back to default settings. This finally allowed me to boot back into the bios and this time instead of turning on the xmp profile, I manually set the frequency of my ram to its maximum. This has developed a new quirk in my PC, now, it first boots with the motherboard displaying a red light on the cpu and a yellow light on the dram and then about a minute or two later all of my fans ramp up to their maximum speed, the pc restarts by itself and then finally boots normally without any problems. While I am happy that my PC at least boots now, I would very much like to have it boot properly instead of playing "red light, green light" every time I turn it on. Can anybody please help? P.S. I did check my motherboard's compatibility even before I put the PC together, there shouldn't be any problems on that front. I also followed the manual for how and in which slots the ram should be placed.

I want to upgrade to both AM5 and DDR5 but don't know what motherboard is best for value. I don't need bells and whistles like Wifi, Bluetooth, RGB, Ect. I really only need a decent amount of sata ports, and least 2 M.2/NVME ports. I don't have a massive budget and I already have to save for the RAM and CPU, so I ask you legendary LTT veiwers and users what the best value motherboard is that meets this criteria.

Hello everyone! I’m seeking help today with my new PC build, I am having an extremely hard time multitasking with my new build. Simply if I have a game open and wish to type or interact on discord or even do a quick google search everything slows to a crawl and seems unstable. The components I have used are as follows: CPU: 7900x GPU: 3090 strix white RAM: 64GB Corsair vengeance 6400mhz CL36 MOBO: Asus Strix X670E-A Storage: Corsair MP700 Cooler: NZXT Kraken 360 Elite PSU: Corsair RM850 Also I have the most updated Bios and drivers for all my equipment, I am at a loss entirely. I feel like I have a ram issue though because when I go to enable to EXPO I have more stability issues. Any help is appreciated and thank you for your time.

I recently gotten my ddr5 system, i7 14700K, Z790 LiveMixer, and G.SKILL Ripjaws S5 Series (Intel XMP 3.0) DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MT/s CL30-40-40-96 1.35V, I was thinking of buying another 2 sticks to make it 64gb as the ram might not be available in the future and I want to be safe and get the 64gb for gaming in the next coming years, as I couple years ago we thought 16gb was fine but now we are using 32gb. The RAM sticks are currently 110 pounds, as if I wait and just get a fresh set of 64gb that would be even more or even the same in 3-5 years, so I'd still be spending the same amount. Would I have any weird XMP problems as it's ddr5 or will be CPU and Motherboard be able to handle the 4 sticks at XMP?

Im looking into buying a prebuilt and do not want to build my own at all but I am going with a 7800x3D and a 7800xt but the prebuilders I am going with are only offering DDR5 Corsair Vengeance 6000 CL40 and I've seen that there's some weirdness over cas latency that I dont really understand. I will not be manually overclocking anything and aim to have a simple time just setting up and gaming. They don't have anything other than CL40 as an option so I'd just like to know if this will be an issue at all.

I'm trying to figure out what would be a good GPU for a Ryzen 5 7600 with 16 gigs of DDR5-4800 RAM. I was originally thinking to go with the RX 7600, but after some research, I'm not sure if it's the best choice. The main reason I picked it originally was for the price, since it's got pretty good performance for under $300 USD. The PC would be used for: Games: Minecraft, War Thunder, EVE Online Other Uses: Blender, General web browsing My monitor would be 1440p.

Hi all, Which of memory speed would be best to pair with my MSi Tomahawk Max motherboard? I'm getting confused by MSi's website saying stating: 1DPC 1R Max speed up to 7800+ MHz 1DPC 2R Max speed up to 6600+ MHz 2DPC 1R Max speed up to 6400+ MHz 2DPC 2R Max speed up to 5600+ MHz I want to fill all 4 slots in the motherboard, and I was going to purchase 2 of the following (for a total of 64GB RAM): CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 7200MHz CL34 Intel XMP iCUE Compatible Computer Memory - Black (CMK32GX5M2X7200C34) Although based on the dot points from MSi's website, by having all 4 slots filled am I even going to get 7200Mhz? Or should I simply buy something cheaper? Thanks in advance everyone!

Hey should I just gamble and just buy a replacement CPU already? Around November 2023 i updated my windows 11 gaming computer to the latest windows feature update (and updated some drivers) and when it restarted it blue screened and has been ill ever since. Every time i turn on the computer (and enter any OS) it will completely freeze up within 1-3 minutes. It just freezes what's on screen, the caps-lock button does nothing, and it refuses to do anything until forced off. It crashes in windows 11 pro, when installing windows on a fresh ssd (with no other drives connected), when initialising WindowsToGo (thanks to Rufus), and in ubuntu installer. What baffles me is that it doesn't crash in windows safe mode. If it's my CPU that's faulty does it behave so differently in safe mode as to not be symptomatic there? It does not blue screen, and no logs are created from the crash as far as i can tell. I can open windows reliability monitor in recovery mode and no logs are present for the time stamp the computer froze up at. The 2 pieces of hardware that i haven't been able to test are the PSU and CPU. Does my problem sound like either of them are to blame? I have attempted: MB Replacing with different model of MB (MSI MAG Z790 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI) - now returned Updating BIOS to the latest one Resetting BIOS to default values Various BIOS changes (like undoing the RAM XMP profile) Storage Different M.2 drive M.2 in USB enclose Various USB drives (with various different Windows and Ubuntu installers of various vintages) Putting the various storage devices in different slots Ran SSD tester from BIOS without any errors found RAM Using each stick individually by themself Each stick in different slots in 2 separate MBs They passed the windows RAM tester They passed several hours of MemTest86 without any errors Windows Not connecting Razer devices (Huntsmen and basilisk) Removing most recent drivers GPU Problem does not change with the GPU installed or not The computer was constructed from new parts during February 2023. PC Specs: Intel Core i5-13600K 3.5 GHz (has onboard graphics) MSI PRO Z790-A WIFI ATX LGA1700 Motherboard Kingston FURY Beast 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL40 Memory (the versions that plays nice with intel XMP) Crucial P5 Plus 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive (Main boot drive) Sabrent Rocket 512 GB M.2-2280 PCIe 3.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive (Secondary drive to help debug) Corsair RM750x (2021) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower Case MSI 3060TI 3X 8G OC LHR A bunch of Noctua fans Additional information: Sometimes when getting into recovery options it kinda crashes and pressing any valid button just refreshes screen with bad screen tearing I have dismantled and reassembled everything on 4 separate occasions, there are no loose cables and the cpu does not have any pins to inspect I've also tried disabling network adapters from the BIOS amongst other BIOS changes The BIOS environment is stable I spoke to a computer technician at a shop and he was baffled by the problem i had, he recommended trying another compatible CPU (intel 12/13/14) and posting for help on this forum Have tried booting with only display connected Not possible: It does not appear to be possible to reset windows from recovery Or repair windows from recovery Or roll back windows updates Not tried: Replacing current 13600K CPU Replacing the power supply Throwing computer out of window Does anyone have any idea what my problem is? I just want my computer fixed so i can continue playing BG3 with my friend. Do i just buy a new CPU and test that, and return it if it doesn’t fix my problem. I’m fed up of the number of hours I’ve spent trying to fix it without results. Thanks in advanced for your help Cheers.

https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-32gb/p/N82E16820374436?Item=N82E16820374436 Is this a good deal for 7200-speed ram? Not too sure about the timings. Going to use an i5-13600k with a z790 motherboard.

Hi guys, I know the title sounds paradoxical in its face. But indeed, I would appreciate recommendations for CPUs that have low idling energy usage (~20-50W max) while having superior or at least comparable multithread performance compared to a 14900K and preferably also higher maximum RAM support. I don't mind the energy consumption when its under load (it can hit 600W for all I care), but what I am looking for is a CPU with low idle power draw. In fact, the 13900k/14900k themselves are good examples of CPUs that might fit this criteria - the power draw of my 13900k could be as low as 20W at idle, but their multicore performance is great (albeit the power draw under load is pretty high - but that's okay). Alas, I require a CPU which is more powerful and/or supports more RAM than the 13900k. Budget is not an issue. Honestly I was thinking of getting the Threadripper 7980x, if not for the fact that I read that its idling power draw is ~150W. Server CPUs are fine too. Alternatively, is there a way to play with the (bios) setting of the Threadripper to lower its idling power usage to <50W while maintaining its peak performance? Thanks so much!

Hello people that are more knowledgable than me, I have recently (yesterday) ordered parts for my very first PC build, and today I have realized that my RAM might not be compatible with my Motherboard. PCPartPicker said that there is no compatibility issues, yet the support page for my motherboard says that the memory I have picked is not compatible. For reference, I will be building with an AMD Ryzen 5 7600 on an MSI B650 Gaming Plus Wifi motherboard. Thanks

I am planning a new build for deep learning / AI workloads. I need a stable system with >80 GB of memory. After some research I found these 3 options: 1. 2 x 48 GB ddr5 6000 mhz, C30 2. 4 x 32 GB ddr5 4800 mhz, C30 (can this be any faster like 5200 / 5600) 3. 4 x 32 GB ddr4 3600 mhz, C16 Which of the above memory options would offer me the highest bandwidth to work with are be stable at the same time? I want to set the XMP / EXPO profiles once and let it be. No OC, no tinkering with timings. It would be best if someone could tell me the effective memory bandwidth for all the 3 options above. Does having 4 sticks (quad channel?) mean double effective bandwidth? Does Intel have any advantage over AMD? I am looking at 7800x3d or 5800x3d or 13600K. I listed the 3rd option (ddr4) above because I am already running a 5600x + ROG strix x570e mobo + 2 x 16 GB 3000mhz Crucial. So upgrading to 5800x3d and new memory is the cheapest option for me. Also the RAM timings are quite better with ddr4 vs ddr5 and I wont be getting >6000 ddr5 speeds anyway with such a high capacity requirement. But if the bandwidth gains are high then I am willing to spend for a new AM5 / Intel platform.

Just went to turn on my new build and I am getting no hdmi signal but all the case lights and fans are turning on. The dram and cpu post lights are on. I have a Ryzen 9 7900x N7 b650e motherboard Ddr5 2× 32gb G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo (it is on the qvl) And a navidia 3080 I've tried flashing the bios to the most recent one, re seat the ram and put in other slots and just using one stick. But no luck so far. Really stressed about this I spent a little of money on all this and I bought the parts over a long period of time so none of the parts are withing return periods. Any fixes or tip are appreciated.

Hi all, First time posting here in a while, just put together a new build today. Had some issues getting it going. I am using a Gigabyte B650 X AX gaming mobo,q a 7600x CPU and I purchased 32gb of 5600mts Corsair vengeance RGB ddr5. PC only likes to boot with 1 stick of ram in B2 slot, doesn't boot if I put in both, no matter what config. Any ideas what could be cause of this? A bit stumped. Both dimms will might up if inserted but cpu fan will not light up if they are both inserted. Thanks in advance for any help. P

Hi all, I currently have G.Skill Flare X5 32GB 6000MHz CL32 in my system. I'm adding another 32GB to the system. I have tried to find a stockist in the UK with this kit in stock but with no luck. My question is, can I use another brand as long as it has the same speed and timings? 6000mhz CL32-38-38-96 1.35v TIA P.s Mobo is in sig

I'll make it really simple and quick: I'm completing a PC Build with a 12400f, 6750xt. I had two choices when it came to buying the RAM: 1) DDR4 32GB 3200Mhz CL18 2) DDR5 32GB 5600Mhz CL46 Both were at the SAME price (i live in italy). I bought the DDR5 CL46 one, and now i'm worried for the High CAS Latency. For almost entirely gaming and a little video/photo editing, is my DDR5 5600 C46 better or worse than a DDR4 3200 C18? Have i really made that bad of a choice or it was the better one performance/cost wise?

Budget (including currency): 200ish $USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Autodesk Maya, Destiny 2, Forza 8, Cyberpunk (most intensive games / programs) Other details: Cpu: 7800x3d Mobo: MSI x670e Carbon Gpu: Evga 3080 ftw3 Nearly complete with my pc upgrade from a 3600x on a Asus prime x570e with 32gb of ram to the aforementioned 7800x3d which i will be using primarily for gaming and 3D work. Often i use up all 32Gb of ram when working in Maya, sometimes even more when working on scenes that ask for more ram leading to long load times. The questions im faced with are a few- Looking at 32gb x 2 (6000mhz CL30) now, but may buy the same kit in the future for a total of 128gb (32*4). Will the cpu handle this? Will it force me to drop my mhz to become stable, loosen timing? Should i buy slower ram like 5600mhz with looser timing and save a few bucks if thats the case? Does it even matter? Will gaming performance be that much different when going from 64gb of fast ram to 128gb of slower ram? Maya will love it, it loves ram, but what about gaming, even noticeable? Those of you who do have 128gb, whats your set up? 32*4, 64*2, 128x1. What about the speeds youre running? Should I wait for the 15900k or go for the 14900k?
Jclau77 posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
Hey everyone, So I've made it my plan to go full on next gen by 2024 after recently acquiring my 4090 Strix. As of this post, I am unable to use it due to me being overseas but nevertheless, since I've gotten the most expensive part of my next gen upgrade I am starting procure funds for a full on next gen system. I am currently sitting at an 11900k and ddr4 64 gb of g skill ram (3200 mhz) and I feel that my covid Era pc that got me through college needs an update. My main concern is that the 11900k might hold my 4090 from its full potential but I digress and besides, the 11900 was such a disappointment. I only made that jump reluctantly when it got bundled up with my 3080 ti back in 2021 but anyway. I am set with two options, one I wait until Q3 of 2024 and wait for Intel to drop their 15th gen cpu and also go z890 or I can go all in and make the jump by either Q2 of 2024 and get myself the 14900k, z790 and a ddr5 set of ram. Please let me know which is the best option, any help would be appreciated! Thanks! Oh and before I forget, I mainly use my system for uni work and 4k gaming. I'm going into IT for uni next year and I'm going to be using my desktop once again to get me through it. -
Which RAM is better ( both work on my MB with XMP profiles as specified, AM5 platform): Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5-6400 2x48GB, CL32-40-40-84, 1.40V Gskill Trident Z5 RGB DDR5-6400 2x48GB, CL32-39-39-102, 1.35V Differences: A) 1.4V vs 1.35V: Does the higher voltage have a relevant disadvantage (power consumption, lifespan, heat development)? B) Timings/Latency: CL32-40-40-84 vs CL32-39-39-102 --> Which overall values are better, Corsair or Gskill? C) The DIE manufacturers: Gskill apparently has a Hynix A DIE. I don't know about Corsair. Does the DIE manufacturer matter if I don't overclock the RAM or change the timings/latency?

Hey all I have a problem that I think someone on here could help with. I've been trying to enable D.O.C.P to get my corsair 5600 to run at the rated speeds and every time I turn it on it fails to boot, I try to manually input all the voltages/timings and it still fails to boot. Would it be worth it to get ram that actually is compatible with my motherboard.

Hello everyone i had problem with my ram kits and motherboard before and some moderator from here helped me solve the problem with this Try Settings > AMD CBS > UMC Common options > DDR Options > DDR Memory Features > Memory context restore > DISABLED Now my motherboard's information site says that it supports my ram kit should i undo this ? Am I using the rams with low performance this way ? (BTW I use Asus Prime B650Plus motherboard with kingston's KF560C36BBEK2-16 ram kit) (I updated my BİOS)

Hi, i'm building a pc for a friend and was wondering about the best price/quality/upgradability DDR5 RAM config. This is the first time I build with DDR5 and AM5 so I don't really know much about it yet. I had a few configurations in mind, being: - 1x16gb 6000 CL40 (= 67 euros) - 2x8gb 5600 CL40 (= 75 euros) - 2x8gb 6000 CL40 (= 80 euros) I am pairing this up with a Ryzen 5 7600 and an rtx4060 on an A620M Mobo, are those speeds overkill for that? I've heard AMD recommends 6000 for 7000 series cpu's. I've also heard that Dual channel is better than quad channel (I mean 4 sticks when when he would upgrade and add 2 extra sticks.). Also worth considering, I may use a mobo with only 2 RAM slots. So which is the better config and what do I need to consider in order to make the best choice? (Any other (better) suggestions can also help)

I am pretty techy, but I might your help with this. My friend has a Gigabyte Aero Z790 with a Intel Core i7 13700K and a Asus ROG Strix GeForce RTX 2070 Super, and it will not post or boot. It is a black screen, no signal. It used to work fine and then it stopped working a bit after he swapped memory modules, both old and new modules are the same just old is black and new is white so what I am thinking is the new memory modules are faulty.
