    Is this normal?

Hello, ltt fourm. I have some concerns about my cpu cooler. I was planning on overclocking my cpu today, so i run cinebench 15 and hardware monitor to figure things out. I have dark rock pro 4 as the cpu cooler so i thought this will go on smoothly. While i was checking things on hardware monitor i noticed that my max temperature is a little bit high. Reaching 65 c without any overclocking!! Is that normal for dark rock pro 4? Becouse the guy in the video i was watching was running cinebench 15 and his max temperature never reached above 49 c on stock sittings. (He was using an aio cooler) Here is the cpu temperature i got on hardware monitor Core 0 = val 26° min 24° max 65° Core 1 = val 27° min 25° max 62° Core 2 = val 29° min 26° max 69° When i first got my dark rock pro 4 i always suspect something wrong with the middle fan. I never felt any vibration from that fan. Also when i check the cpu fans on bios and hardware monitor, the only thing appears is cpu fan1 and case fans, nothing else. And you can't see the middle fan because of the cooler design. At first i used to connect poth fans to the same cpu header but i moved the second one to a fan hub when i realised about the fan not spinning, but still nothing changed. The fan never vibrated or appeared on the bios and i give up on that until recently. Should i connect poth fans tho the same cpu header again? Putting the cpu cooler inside the case was a nightmare. I removed the motherboard from the case and everything. My case is cooler master k500 and it felt very small at the time. I couldn't find any other way to put the cpu cooler on other than taking the motherboard out. I don't want to do that ever again. When i think about it it's just not worth it. to take the motherboard and cpu cooler out and test the fans only for just overclocking! That is a lot of work for only a slightly faster cpu! Still not really sure about the fan not spinning thing. Maybe it's just too quiet for me to notice any vibration, or maybe it only spins at a higher temperatures or something. What do you guys think? Should i take the cpu cooler out and test the fans? English is my second language. Please forgive me if i made mistakes.
  2. Hey guys need some advice I will be upgrading to a 5950x come November from a 1700x. I currently have a NZXT Kraken X63 and it keeps my 1700x around 38 degrees, which I think is a little hot. My question is when I get a 5950x will the Kraken X63 be enough to cool it? I will be doing some mild overclocking. I was thinking of going to a Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4. Or should I stay AIO? I have two Corsair QL140mm fans on the radiator.
  3. Hello everyone, I come here to ask you about the compatibility between 2 parts for the rig i'm currently building (on internet for now, i'm only choosing the parts at the moment) 1. Budget & Location I'm aiming for a build under 2200€ (without the GPU). I'm from France. 2. Aim Gaming and sometimes 3D animation. I'm also aiming for a PC that can last YEARS like the i'm using right now. 3. Monitors 2 monitors. 4. Peripherals Already have Keyboard, mouse and will buy Windows with the new rig. 5. Why are you upgrading? I'm upgrading because my actual PC is now 10 years old. It does what i want, for now, but not in max settings and i just want some fresh air. Just in case, here are the parts i'm aiming for : CPU : Intel core I7 13700k Cooler : Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 Motherboard : Gigabyte Z790 AORUS ELITE AX RAM : Corsair Vengeance DDR5 32 Go (2 x 16 Go) 5600 MHz CL36 GPU : Not changing now, i'm waiting the RTX 4070... SSD : Samsung SSD 980 PRO M.2 PCIe NVMe 1 To (Maybe the new 990) Case : Be Quiet! Silent Base 802 PSU : Be Quiet! Straight Power 11 1200W Platinum So, now THE question... Will the Dark Rock Pro 4 be compatible with the Gigabyte Z790 AORUS ELITE AX motherboard? Edit : I mean, in SIZE. I know i can mount it on the LGA 1700 socket, but i would like to know if it can fit on the motherboard... I already asked directly to Be Quiet! but they didn't have the answer because the motherboard is too recent... Thanks in advance for your help, and sorry if there is some bad english in here.
  4. Hi So I have an 6 - 8+ year old system using an Intel i7 960 which uses socket lga 1366 (otherwise known as socket B, inheriting from lga 775). I decided about a month ago to dig this old PC out of storage and convert it into a NAS with some lightweight VMs. As the PC hasn't been cleaned in about as long as it's been alive, apart from a light vacumming here and there, I decided to give it a proper deep clean before making use of it which was esspaicilly importnat as it's going to be in my office next to a bedroom so near silent is the goal. During the cleaning I realized it was probbarbly time to replace it's old AIO tht's been running all those years and hasn't been cleaned either, my chosen replacement was a Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4 which is probarbly way overkill but would help with the near silent goal. I read on the coolers spec sheet that it is compatible with the lga 1366 socket so bought it howver looking at the docs there's no mention of mounting it to a lga 1366 but it does cover mounting to AM4 and lgas 2066, 2011 (-3) square ILM, 1200, 1150, 1151, 1155 and 1700. Did Amazon and PCPartPicker lie to me when they sid it supports lga 1366 or does lga 1366 match one of the aforementioned socket types? Thank for any feedback
  5. Goodday! I am about to order a new PC and when I checked the max CPU cooler height for the phanteks P400A case I found out that it was 160cm while the Dark Rock Pro 4 cooler I am planning to use is 163cm tall. After reading a couple of reddit articles, some people said that the dark rock pro 4 can actually fit in that case (leaving 0.5-1mm free space from the glass panel) but I would like to ask about it here since I can get more reliable info here. Has anyone tried to pair the Dark Pro 4 with the Phanteks 400A?
  6. Hey ho folks, my name's Liam and I want to get back to my first and most favourite hobby: computers. Earlier I was only looking for gaming performance but I sold my last PC to prepare for a huge trip to Indonesia. Now that I needed to return to Germany, I plan on creating a Youtube channel, stream some single player video games and maybe even program a small server or at least get into Linux later. To speed things up, I will answer the guideline questions in reverse order. 5. Why are you upgrading? / 2. Aim Well I currently do not have a PC and my Elitebook G1 840 from HP doesn't offer the calculation power to run DaVinci Resolve 16. It lacks CPU performance as well as a GPU (I like CUDA support for rendering). But for office work I cannot complain. It taught me alot about how to get along with limited ressources. My goals are: video editing 1080p 30fps DaVinci Resolve 16 decent working speeds (with optimized media) average to good rendering speeds later I would like to switch to Open Source software or pay for the full DaVinci license office / programming / DJing as I said before, for normal office works and Rekordbox the Elitebook is good enough even simple programming can easily be done with the Elitebook the Elitebook starts getting unpleasant when I need more desktop/ display space for running multiple servers like Apache or for Engine Prime from Denon DJ the Elitebook lacks power multi boot I want to run a quick multi boot system with Windows 10 gaming streaming nice workflows Linux Mint programming getting to know new software testing alternatives to Windows gaming graphic heavy single player games like Tomb Raider graphic heavy multi player games like Battlefield games that don't need alot of ressources but benifit from it, e.g. LoL prefer G-Sync since I remember the flawless, smooth movements of picture and cursor (fell in love with it) streaming since I want to get into Youtube, I probably won't stop and then create a small YT-studio from which I gonna stream got a Stream Deck yet as a gift from a friend (use it for certain workflows → macros) silence / performance I want a silent build I want to do overclocking after the warranty runs out, so after two (2) years looks I don't care much about the looks since I won't look at the PC 24/7 and it is going to be placed on the ground As you may see, I need an allrounder. Let's jump ahead. 4. Peripherals already got Corsair K95 Platinum RGB with Cherry MX Speed switches and won't give that away Corsair Glaive RGB 3. Monitors want / need G-Synch-able monitor 1080p or 1440p thought of the Acer Predator XB3 XB253QGPbmiiprzx, 24.5" maybe getting a second and a third one later when the money flows in 1. Budget & Location Budget 1000 - 2000 € Location Germany (€) 0. The Build So here is a list of all the components, but I nail them down here again for everybody to read. Monitor - Acer Predator XB3 XB253QGPbmiiprzx, 24.5" G-Sync very good reviews Motherboard - ASUS Prime X570-Pro (232€) Pros upgradability two M.2 slots for NVME (good for my dual boot Win/ Linux system) cannot go wrong with ASUS looks insanely well nice cooling for components Cons pricy may get into conflict with the air cooler Dark Rock Pro 4 CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, 8x 3.60GHz (290€) good for multi thread rendering nessesary for 3200 MHz DDR4 RAM without overclocking the CPU thus keeping the warranty plenty battle power for upcoming gaming titles drops in price regularely alternatively AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, 6x 3.80GHz (200€) AMD Ryzen 7 3800X, 8x 3.90GHz (310€) Graphics card - MSI GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER Ventus GP OC (418€) alternativly MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GT OC (135€) MSI GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Ventus XS 6G OC (300€) I do not nessesarily need raytracing but I know that even without RTX the 2060 SUPER offers more performance than the other candidates Memory - Crucial Ballistix Sport LT white 1x 16GB, DDR4-3200 (91€) fits underneath the CPU cooler can buy up to 3 additional DIMMs later no real alternative found since I want to upgrade later with the same DIMM Storage Version 1 Corsair Force Series MP510 480GB, M.2 (92€) referred to by Linus Tech Tips good price getting one for Windows 10 and one for Linux later (dual boot) Samsung SSD 860 QVO 2TB, SATA (200€) Version 2 Samsung Pro Evo 860 250GB (56€) Samsung Spinpoint M9T 2TB (81€) Case / cooling be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 (72€) the new, not realeased beQuiet Dark Base 500 DX (probably around 130€) alternatively beQuiet Dark Base 500 (72€) Power Supply Unit (PSU) beQuiet Straight Power 11 (106€) fully modular silent never had problems with beQuiet before The whole build would cost from around 1278€ (link) to 2000€ (link). Since I don't need the PC immediately I could wait for special offers and buy the parts when they are cheaper than average. Maybe you guys could give me some advice if I am bottlenecking the CPU since the GPU could be an RTX 2070 or if I rather invest money in a different motherboard and use a PCIe to M.2 card instead. Maybe you got some knowledge where I could save money or better use different parts.
  7. Updated bios and i can no longer achieve 4.5 at a reasonable voltage, and my H60 just doesnt cut it. Liquid coolers above the H60 tier are to expensive, im looking at the Dark Rock Pro 4, or Noctua NH-D15 Its going to need to cool my 6700k @4.5 or better at about 1.3v (used to be 1.250v for stable 4.5) Which one of these is best? Is there something better for the same price? Also whatever happened to the blackout Noctuas? Brown really wont fit in my all red build to well.
  8. Hi to everyone (i make a premise, maybe my english is not so good i will do my best),i have a doubt about ram clearance for Dark Rock Pro 4. (I saw some post about this, but i'm not sure for my case) Right now i have as motherboard an Asus X570 TUF Gaming plus, Cpu AMD 3700X and Ram 2x8gb HyperX predator 3600mhz (h=42mm) case: Corsair Carbide 275r My doubt is does these ram can fit under Dark Rock Pro 4? (i'm looking for a non-pro too). Thanks in advance
  9. So the question is pretty simple, Which is better, the Dark Rock Pro 4, vs Corsair H150i PRO? The Dark Rock Pro 4 is over 3x cheaper, so if it offers comparable performance i will consider that over the aio. I am building into the Corsair 500D. I don't like the Noctua 15D, because it looks ugly, and you can see it through the glass sidepanel.
  10. hello i decided to build new pc for photo editing and design and adobe premiere for my next 5 years I bought some parts and i didn't decide what CPU and motherboard should i have so what your opinion in i9 9900k Gigabyte Z390 AORUS PRO WiFi i already bought:- Seasonic FOCUS 750 Gold SSR-750FM 750W 80+ Gold CORSAIR Vengeance RGB PRO 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz C16 LED Desktop Memory - Black Samsung 970 EVO Plus Series - 500GB PCIe NVMe - M.2 Internal SSD (MZ-V7S500B/AM) be quiet! 250W TDP Dark Rock Pro 4 CPU Cooler with Silent Wings - PWM Fan - 135 mm gpu i dont have money now. so may be after 6 month i will buy card on 300$
  11. Hello Linustechtips Family, Is it possible to overclock Intel i7-8700k with the Be Quite Dark rock pro 4? I've done the research, but still if personally someone is using that and got results than that would be greatly appreciated. Cuz there are lots of videos, but not that trust worthy, as in they may be promoting the Be Quite for money(probably possible). Thanks in advance. GGWP.
  12. So i want to build the most silent but best performinc pc but also wanted RGB. The Dark Rock Pro 4 seems like a nice contender and the NZXT aer rgb fans look sexy ( I know they are not known for silence ) and this may seem like a dumb question but, can i replace the Dark Rock's fans with the Aer RGB fans, cuz i want to know if they fit or not.
  13. Hey guys, I will buy a R7 3700X on release and I'm not sure which sort of cooling I should use in the future. For air cooling, I would choose the beQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4, for liquid cooling I would use the Corsair H150i Pro. Both have very similar temperatures, as much as I know. Now my concern is airflow. I have the Cooler Master MasterCase H500 with the Mesh equipped of course. This case has 2x 200mm front fans and one 120mm exhaust at the rear and has one of the best temperatures for stock cases. What would be smarter, top mounted H150i Pro or the air cooler? Also, should I buy extra exhaust fans when choosing the Dark Rock Pro 4?
  14. TLDR: Running stock fan setup, need to make airflow/temps better for upcoming project I built this computer as a video editing workstation for my company a little while ago with this subreddit's help. We have a really big project coming up and I need to install an ssd in the PC so I thought it would be a good chance to clean out the PC as well as create some better airflow since I'm just running with the stock fan solution. Since the case is inverted, this is what it looks like. https://imgur.com/a/tNRbbQO The airflow isn't too different than a regular case I would assume but I have no idea. Either way, currently we have 2 fans installed in the front as intake and then 1 fan installed in the back as exhaust. I have the same air cooler used in the picture (The Dark Rock Pro 4), and a 1080ti installed. Anyways, I was wondering where you guys would recommend I install more fans to get the best possible temps?
  15. Hello, just wanted to ask: what's the temperature difference with the dark rock pro 4 WITHOUT the 120mm fan at the front, with only the 135mm in the middle? Benchmarks or similar reviews would be appreciated! This is not my PC, just an example.
  16. My system:Motherboard: Asus TUF x570 plus with Wi Fi CPU: Ryzen 3700X CPU Cooler: Dark Rock Pro 4GPU: 2070 Super Zotac AMD! Extreme Fans: 2x intake Noctua 140mm redux 1500 RPM PWM fans, 1x exhaust at the back 120mm Fractal Design, 1x exhaust at the top 120mm Fractal Design (the ones that come with the case) I did NOT overclock my GPU or CPU My temps: Ambient temp: 21-22 C CPU idle: ca. 45 C CPU under load: 67-70 C (Furmark CPU Burner) GPU under load: 80 C (Furmark) While gaming the temps are a few degrees lower than under full load I believe my temps are a bit too high considering what case / fans and CPU cooler I have. I believe I messed up when applying the thermal paste and I didn't adjust any fan speeds. I would like somebody advise me how to optimize my airflow to reduce the temps. 1. I bought Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut today and I will apply it on the weekend. Should I use the spread method advised by team grizzly or some other? 2. One of the exhaust fans is connected to AIO port on the motherboard, is this a problem or should I connect both exhaust fans to one connector and connect both fans to one PWM port on the mobo? 3. Probably the most important question: How should I adjust the fan speeds in BIOS? Is there an ideal fan curve I should be aiming for? SpeedFan doesn't show case fans, only GPU and CPU so I guess I have to use BIOS 4. Should I change any settings for the CPU or GPU? Thanks!
  17. I think I'm on to something. An Amazon review for DRP4 reveals that nuts on the cooler would come loose and cause DRP4 to offshift and not have direct contact with the IHS. I think it's a good explanation to why the temps would be good immediately after mounting and then goes all the way up to 90 degrees Celsius and beyond after a short while, and also how almost all of the thermal paste would stick to the cooler and not the IHS as the cooler could have just pulled the compound off the IHS with its sheer weight. I'll try to tighten all the screws and nuts later when I get home. The damn fan mounting brackets already scratched the paint on the side of the heatsink to hell, so I probably won't be able to return it. Should have just gone with water cooling in the first place. Damn. Update 2: Undid the cooler, found that one of the nuts is one revolution full, fixed that, got some MX-4 instead of Mastergel Maker, now I'm seeing ~70 degrees in games @4.7GHz, 1.248V. Also, I just realized that the fans are running really slowly cus they're 'silent' fans. Replacing the bequiet Silent Wings with something faster probably would help?
  18. on this build, I used the Dark TG Meshify C. I didn't buy any RGB stuff. The only RGB components I have are the built in ones (Video Card and Mobo). How do I make sure that I can see my parts on the tempered glass? Will cheap china RGB leg strips do the work? Should I have bought a Meshify Non-Dark TG instead? Or should I also consider the white meshify C TG? https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/pVZzCb I've been trying to base my build on the following: https://cdn.pcpartpicker.com/static/forever/images/userbuild/234993.67dfee9a9e5edd2f5db8e0b4f113187f.1600.jpg https://cdn.pcpartpicker.com/static/forever/images/userbuild/233053.3e457839197e95ec93e53ee69322ce47.1600.jpg
  19. Hi all, I have a Dark Rock Pro 4 and it comes with a 120mm fan for pushing and a 135mm one for pulling air to the back of the case. By default, they're connected to the CPU fan header on the mobo through a fan splitter. Now, I want to replace the push fan with something else. The thing is the new push fan spins faster (at 2000 rpm) than the 135mm pull (not sure but apparently maxes out at 1200 rpm). I would like to know if it's the splitter cable is going to limit the new fan so that it doesn't run faster than the 135mm, and if not, would this push-fan-faster-than-pull-fan situation be fine for cooling? I heard there could be some blowback when the cpu fan speeds are not in sync. Thanks for your help!
  20. On pcpartpicker it says that the drp4 and drp3 doesn't fit (isn't compatible) with the PC o11 dynamic from lian-li, but in the videos/pictures I've seen about the case, it seems like there's plenty of room for it. I don't want to buy a cooler that's too big, so if you can help me. Thanks!
  21. I am cramming the Dark rock pro 4 in to an in-win a1 plus, after inspiration from https://pcpartpicker.com/b/cX6scf. Unfortunately, the cpu-socket on my gigabyte x570i is closer to the top of the board than the asus-board used in that build. The consequence of this is that i can not mount the cooler directly on top of the cpu, cince the cpu-socet is too close to the top of the case. My solution was a tiny offset in the mountingbracket. Becides my ocd, it seems to work just fine, not going higher than 72c in cinebench r20, and 60c whilst gaming. Should i be concerned using this solution long term? Could change to an asus-model, but got this gigabyte one quite cheap, and a asus one with similar vram and io is considerably more expencive
  22. Can I mount my aorus RTX 2070 Super (3 slot) graphics card vertically if i am using a Be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 CPU cooler in a standard ATX case? I would purchase a vertical mount separately from the case, so the GPU would be further away from the tempered glass panel.
  23. Hello to all ! I'm new to the forum. I have a question. I had already bought the dark rock pro 4, which has a listed height of 162.8 mm. Unfortunately, I didn't check the clearance in the case for the cooler when I ordered it as the case dimensions say the max height for a cooler is 162.8mm. Will it be possible to squeeze the cooler in anyways or will the extra 0.8 mm make side panel not close at all? Thank you for your help edit** max height is 162.8mm, sorry guys! Not 168mm
  24. Hi, I wanna change my old AIO with a air cooler. I would really love the Dark Rock Pro 4, pric and performance are exactly what I'm looking for. After looking through a number of posts and specs, The height of the cooler is 162.8 mm, while my case has 170mm for a cpu cooler. The ripjaws V are listed at 42mm, while the cooler has a ram clearance of 40mm. I'm seeing somewhere that I might be able to raise a little bit the back fan, giving me the 2-3 mm i'm missing. I' would still have around 4 mm to close the case. So I was wondering if I was missing anything. Does the motherboard matters? (Msi z270 m3) Will I have problems? Thanks! (Ps, sorry for my english )
  25. I am getting ready for my first build but the I am stuck on getting RAM that actually fits with my CPU air cooler. I have my eye on 2x Trident Z RAM for a total of 32 GB. I am worried that they will not fit with my Dark Rock Pro 4 air cooler. I have done a bunch of research and I have read that Trident Z Ram will fit with this CPU Cooler but I would have to raise one of the CPU cooler's fans a little bit. I also read that people have switched the fan, that is usually hovering over the RAM slots, to the other side of the CPU Cooler. But I heard that is a bad idea. I just want some other opinions. Do you think they will fit together? And btw the motherboard I plan on getting is a Asus Maximus X Hero
