I OC'd my RAM with the auto settings on the BIOS (2x8 T Force Vulcan 2666) to 3200mhz, without changing voltage or timings. That's what is being shown on CPU-Z: I think the timings aren't ideal, and I would like to know if it's dangerous to mess with it and what's the worse thing that can happen. Also, my voltage is 1.2v, do I need to increase it, and how much should I be able to do so without it being risky? Thanks in advance!

Been playing this game for the better part of 2 years now dreaming of the time when i could start doing serious stuff, and i finally got my big break, after grinding away ranks/reputation for the empire at Cemiess station for what seemed like forever, i finally got offered a long range passenger mission to the holy twins for 24 million credits . Spent the last 2 days flying out there and just arrived this afternoon, using my Asp Explorer with almost nothing other than advanced discovery scanner. Used the services of Felicity Farseer the engineer before i left, and got my range up to 39.7 ly per jump ( 34.5 with passenger cabin and scanner) i managed to complete the 12,500 ly journey in 12 legs of 30-32 jumps each, covering each 1000 ly leg in around 25-30 mins, which i think is pretty good going, some people do these missions with like 20ly jump range i've heard Now i'm here i thought i would make the best of it and found at least 10 systems with black holes, one of which has 3 of them ! Im not gonna risk any cowboy stuff this far from home, was tempted to ride the neutron highway for a while but havent had much practice with that and don't want to lose all that discovery data crashing into a neutron star. i did a quick bit of napkin maths before i left which gave me approx 750 jumps round trip, which could bag me an extra 15-20 million in just the discovery data alone, so here's hoping i don't fuck up on the way back haha, there was a big sketchy patch of brown dwarves about half way that worried me a bit Pics attached, i slammed into a blackhole nearly spitting coffee over my monitor, it terrified me. And also found a lovely neutron star to pose with. What are you Commanders up to at the moment ? CMDR Darklanky

So I recently got back into Elite: Dangerous and I used to play a lot in Solo because I disliked the idea of being screwed over by a stranger. But after getting back in I find the game slightly boring and want more interaction. Are there any specific systems that are "hubs" or are really populated by players? That might not even be a thing because players move around all the time but I personally have usually stayed within the same few systems (Aulin is basically my home base). I also could do with playing in a group but that's not my main focus (why I didn't put this in "looking for group"). Playing in a group would be cool, especially if it's structured with a leader or something like a clan or organization like Star Citizen. But I don't have tons of time to play as I am in university but I still would like to actually play without it being boring or a grind. So does anyone know of any "hubs" of player activity? Thanks!

So I came back to Elite: Dangerous after a long time (like 9 months) and I am loving the passenger transport missions. But my question is, are the super long distance missions worth the time? There is a mission I can do that will pay me 66 million CR to take this lady 24,000 LY to collect some data from a black hole. Now is that worth it? Because my total light years traveled is barely over 15,000 so even one way would be farther than I'd traveled in the entire time I've played. Now I can do research along the way but I am afraid it would take too long. I am using an Asp Explorer that can jump just over 25 LY at one time. Any advice would be great or any tips to better transport people and find jobs etc. Thanks!

gpu Copper wire sticking out of GPU, should I be concerned?
Avensol posted a topic in Graphics Cards
Might seem like a silly question, but here goes: Earlier today I opened up my PC to swap out my old PSU for a higher wattage, fully modular one, and of course to do this I had to temporarily take out my GPU. However upon doing this, I noticed that there was a copper (I think) wire sticking out from one of the coils on the GPU. Note that my PC has not undergone any rough treatment or movement since I last opened it up, so this must have somehow spontaneously happened while the computer was running. I have also never run into any errors relating to the GPU, despite my computer having obviously been running for a supposedly long time with this wire sticking out. Anyway fast forward to now, the power supply swap went off without a hitch and my PC is up and running again. I tried running Destiny 2 and overclocking my GPU, and nothing bad has happened (yet). But I thought it'd still be a good idea to ask here. Here are some photos for reference. It's a GTX 1060 STRIX for anybody wondering: -
Did i miss something here ? How on earth is there a subforum for what is essentially a shiny tech demo, yet there is no love for actual space games, that are, you know, actually playable ? If a star citizen subforum is popular on here, im pretty sure an Elite Dangerous subforum would be a great addition to LTTF Just a thought

I get somewhat paranoid about bright lights and lasers because i've always been scared of damaging my eyesight, and i've always been aware that powerful lasers can cause damage, and my logitech M100 mouse, a very basic but great budget wired mouse, does have a red light, not a point light like a laser pointer but more like a glow in a specific direction, so i took it apart and i'll attach the pictures i too and it seems to be an LED and some sort of prism in front of the LED, and i was just wondering if this could potentially cause any eye damage, maybe it's a powerful LED, or maybe it's a weak laser (i have no idea how lasers work so forgive my ignorance) on logitechs website it's classified as an optical mouse https://www.logitech.com/en-ca/product/mouse-m100 not a laser mouse, but since we're on the topic, can laser mice cause eye damage from accidental exposure? Like logitechs MX Master 2S, i've been interested in it for a while now but i can't find out much about their "Darkfield high precision" laser technology that that mouse impliments

Hey LTT. Short run up to my problem: Last night, no problem at all, this morning, no problem at all, but a few hours later when I got home from the gym my fans were running FULL speed and MSI command center was saying 99°C on my CPU temp measuerer so I semi-panic and check things out, joblist is showing my CPU to be running at less than 10% load. I turned my system off and on again and it's still the same problem. I turn it off and take it for disasembly, cleaned the CPU, the cooler and added new thermal paste while resetting the BIOS. I also tried as best as possible to see if there was anything wrong with the liquid inside the cooler, but since I didn't want to void the warranty I did not open it up. I tried shaking as best as I could and it seemed like there was flow for the liquid, so no gunk stuck in the tubes. Taking it back to my desk to test if that fixed it, I load it up. The motherboard doesn't give me a error code in the two digits, so I load up BIOS and look around and after a minute or so, the fans starts going crazy again and I look at the monitor page and this is what I see... Now it says the CPU fan 2 isn't running, but I could visibly see that it was spinning at full speed, hear both of them and also feel the air. Just for the sake of it, here are my system specs. Cooler Master G750M, 750W PSU Cooler Master Nepton 120XL CPU Cooler HyperX Beast DDR3 2400MHz 16GB (Kit of 2) MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB OC Corsair Obsidian 450D Midi Tower Black Intel Core i7-4790K My system is just about 1 year old and wasn't overclocked when this happend. I suspect it may have something to do with the CPU coolers measurer, but to be honest I have no idea what it could be at this point. I hope that any of you guys may be able to come to my rescue with this problem.

Hi guys, just wanted some assistance because time is running out and i need to decide between taking my pc to my vacation with my cousins to make lan party's or have a boring vacation doing nothing but playing football alone because no one will play where i go . Im not sure if to bring the computer however, i've read quite a lot of people in random forums and this one and many say its dangerous and some say that its not, so im pretty confused for the damn answer, also the guys who say that is dangerous ofter refeer to custom loops and not to AIO's, but the ones that did refeered to high quality ones like the H100i for example (if i recall correctly). The journey will be 6-7 hours long on a Hyundai Santa fe 2012 (if the car somehow is relevant) and will sit very nice and put on the back. The cooler is a Cooler Master Seidon 120V Thanks in advance and sorry for my terrible english

So I recently acquired Project Cars and dabbled a little in it. A friend of mine decides to tell me about the "Power Play" update in Elite Dangerous which adds a lot of content, but none of which will really get me playing again. I respond with " I need to be able to get out of my space ship". He responds well racing sims are the same. I continue to explain that my reason behind stating that is because Elite Dangerous puts you in a position of exploration and many more roles than just flying a ship. You bounty hunt, trade, and explore. A racing sim has fewer objectives/roles(just one) which justifies why you don't get out of your car. You're playing to experience the driving alone. Maybe I'm crazy.

Hello Fellow LTT Members, I recently acquired Elite: Dangerous as a gift from a friend. I wanted to know of any good sources for getting started. I am doing some research and have found a webisode from this youtuber AdoredTV:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHXbDmbswY3xNOmzr5O3zgA I noticed Star Citizen had it's own page and thought to myself, "wow, I am hyped for SC as well, but did everyone just overlook this game entirely?". If you play and aren't too far in the game and want to meet up in space some day feel free to message here or PM me or anyone else who follows. Just be careful not to give out any personal information that can lead to any misfortune. Cheers B)

Hello My computer is constantly crashing; in games, when I open a browser. The crash's appear completly random which makes them all the more frustrating. The error message reads "Dispay driver NVIDIA Windows Kernal mode driver, Version 347.09 stopped responding and has successfully recovered" It seems this is a widespread issue and there are literally hundreds of so called fixes on various forums. I have tried amost everything; disabled my integrated graphics, changed the Nvidia nvlddmkm.sys file, downgraded my nvidia driver, chosen not to install the 3D nvidia and PhysX drivers.... the list goes on. I was looking at some more guides and came across a video saying that a possible fix is to increase the GPU voltage using; NibiTools and nvflash. Is this safe? How much should I increase the voltage by to be on the safe side? I have a GTX 760 Twin Frozr with basic case air cooling. Thanks Here is the video if anyone reading is interested. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGvEKYvf3Ac

Hello, I just came across this abomination and it would be nice if a "proper" Tech channel could take this and correct some things. There is much more wrong than I stated in my comment but I think it shows my point. My comment to this: "didn't suspect a thing" besides the whole camera RIG and lights in front him. This is some next level reality TV sh*t. OKok... wth! 7:21 onwards: replace "these devices" with "firearms". What do you think now about these arguments? "Law enforcement can use this to spy on predators and criminals." IF, law enforcement already identified them as such well, the need is not that high anymore - but ok. And IF NOT: well then it is for multiple very good reasons ILLEGAL! What is this video??? I expected you to show how a "normal" person should defend himself against such things. Not using the cable inside CAB for example or use Androids usb connection settings. But this is horrible and very dangerous product advertisement!
