So, I bought a Razer Blade Pro 17 (2019) (rz09-03148E13) about 7 1/2 months ago. It's a second hand on eBay but was taken really good care of. I don't think it was super heavily used because I've NOTICABLE worn it down physically since then. The track pad's surface has gotten worn from miles of finger tracking, the paint on grill for the front most bottom fan has started to come off leaving specks of silver unpainted metal, and a similar effect has occurred in the form of a bare metal colored ring pultruding about a mm out all around the charging port from the constant plugs and unplugs, and now one of the two side pins are broken off at the base of the plug. SO, I've found that this port is readily available online from 3rd party sellers (likely 3rd shift or reverse engineered work from a Chinese factory by the looks of it), and I'm gonna buy 2 (one for now, and another in case I need to replace the port again and it happens to be that we've started an international war with China in the meantime, and their manufacturing base has imploded leaving me with no parts). What I would like to know is how much longer can I reasonably expect to get out of this laptop at this point (assuming no accidents and discarding things like soldering on new ports)? Is it likely that I'm gonna develop a GPU or CPU fault in the next year or two? In other words, what usually kills these laptops beyond the point that it's economical to repair them? I should note, this is technically a business/prosumer laptop. I game on it, program on it, run CGI renders on it, etc. I have a backup laptop, but would like to "exit gracefully" while getting my money's worth out of it. What's my prognosis?

Good-day everyone, I am currently trying to figure out what is the best way to connect my monitor and USB hub to my PC, which is 7-12 meters away (7 direct route, 12 around the door), with as few cables as possible. My initial thought was an optical HDMI for the monitor but I hear that they are not very reliable and also have trouble transmitting uncompressed audio. Then I came across active HDMI cables but I remember hearing before that they can damage the GPU's ports because they draw power from it. Can an active cable really damage the GPU's ports? For the USB, I found some externally powered 3.0 cables which should do the trick. I have also seen docks that provide you with every single connection you need, even 8K/60Hz HDMI output, with a single input cable (similar to the dock Linus used a few years ago) but based on the reviews they are not reliable nor cheap. Is there any other reliable solution would you recommend me apart from active cables (as long as they don't damage my hardware) and minimal cables? Some more information about my use-case: - I will be gaming on it so I need something with low latency - I will be using the usb hub to connect my peripherals and an audio interface for sound - The monitor I will be using is 2K 165Hz which means I will either need an HDMI 2.1 or display port 2.0

Just got a new corsair hydro h100x but noticed the thermal past has a slight gap where it has rubbed off on the plastic cover in transit. 2 things: Will it smooth out if I just fit it as it is? Can I scrape it off the plastic and reapply it, or do I need to order new thermal paste? Thanks for any help!

My hand slipped while working on mobo. Should I just scrap it or keep it. And is it even safe. Tracer got damaged

Title says it all basically - Genius that packed this put the darn power supply on TOP of the motherboard and then shipped it.. My pictures to show the areas of concern (in red and green) - mostly looks like the heatsinks took the brunt of the trauma but also the bottom of the RAM clips, plus the bottom right hit an m.2 slot and sata connections. the GREEN one is the I/O on the side of the motherboard also definitely left impressions on the back especially the wifi/bt antenna jacks. unpictured - the back.. there are lots of little impressions in the plastic around solder spots and hardware connections.. there was also a loose baggie of hardware that come up from inside the box and looks like it was crushed between the back of the mobo and the rest of the box.. I checked all the pins around the perimeter, checked to see if heatsinks and ram clips seem attached still, and yes i popped the CPU cover and it looks like theres no bent pins or obvious visual damage other than on the bag.. just showing where it got hit. Concern -- the PCB layers could be stressed or cracked and im paranoid to even test the board because if i throw everything on and theres a bad connection i might smoke other components.. Should i not bother/risk with this at all and just return it? I managed to reserve a new one at Microcenter (they didnt have it in stock the other day) but its like 1.5hr drive and they can only hold it for a few days before restocking it. Only perk with bestbuy is i have that dumb total tech thing with extra warranty stuff. I obviously need to test everything i got ASAP before return/exchange periods blow over. MOBO: MSI PRO Z690-A WIFI DDR4 LGA 1700 Intel Z690 SATA 6Gb/s ATX Intel Motherboard i thought, the way best buy displayed it, that it would be in 2 separate boxes.. I chose the delivery to a local UPS store vs BB itself as it was somehow 2 days faster (even tho tracking had it sitting in the city for over a day and the BB is only like 20mins away.. you math that one out for me). And i chose the UPS store vice home cuz i thought maybe they wont give it the usual kicked down the street treatment. Thanks for your opinions!

So for context, a week ago I woke up to my 1070 being completely dead in the water (no fans on boot, no display, no detection). I tried it in multiple different computers, and the result was the same. I believe its something with the power management (as I could plug the fan shroud into another 1070 pcb and it would work just fine), but I do not know. Are there any places in Toronto that can potentially repair it? (I have no warranty as it was bought in 2016)

A friend gave me an old GPU, he told me that he still uses it for gaming, but it looks pretty old. I'm really afraid to place it in the motherboard because it may explode or something.

so i was looking into selling my rig and just buying a good slim gaming laptop but i also want to be able to hook it up to my monitor and peripherals and all that but i wanted to use it plugged in all the time. i do know this used to damage batteries i just dont know if they have changed or not, but i saw someone on quora say that as soon as you plug in your laptop it instantly stops using the battery and goes to ac power. so basically in short my question is would it be ok to run a gaming laptop on ac power all the time with peripherals and such like a desktop without damaging the battery for travel uses?

Greetings, I grew up and used to live in Canada but now I live in the main land caribbean and I am having trouble with heat damage on my monitors. (see photos attached). my main is a 1080p ASUS VH236H and i had a backup for this one incase I had to switch (Dell E228WFPc). I have a super limited budget due to crazy shipping costs. I just want a half desent 1080p monitor for gaming and movies for my aging PC. I have an AMD fx8150 (after market corsair air cooler) paired with an RX570 and 8gb ddr3. I am wondering if there is a type of screen that maybe less likely to take damage during our heat waves, or any inexpensive tips you may have for me.

Hello, Ik got a bit of a problem with my GTX 1070 graphics card. While i was carefully cleaning the cards backside with a brush, a very small component fell off. It was a tiny square opject. Then i noticed one of the components was weardly twisted on the graphics card. It still held on to one of its pins. I tried to carefully bend it back in place but it fell off while trying. Here are some pictures of the parts and the place they originated from on the graphics card. The number of the component that fell off is 0542. I assume that the card will still work since the component could already have been lo0se before i cleaned it for the first time. But i can't be sure. I have the card for about 2 years now. What can i do to fix this problem? Is the part important or not? What is your view on this problem? Thank you for reading. I would appreciate your opinion.

I'm going to buy a laptop which is configured to Raid0 by default. I always use laptops pretty roughly so I'm pretty sure that I will force shutdown once in a while. Some forums said that this could damage the SSDs and render it unusable. Is there any way I can "un-raid" it so even in case of any damage only one of them is affected?

So basically Ive just got a brand new mobo and power supply because my PC wasnt turning on, and I got a CPU from a friend that fits the AM4 chipset (specifically a 1700x I think) and when my friend placed it into the box it was facing straight down and still on the cooler LOLL I tried to use it in my PC and now its stuck in boot loop. Could it be the CPU or is it something sketchy with all the new parts? Pics attached of full build and the CPU pins

hi, so when running pretty much any game, i hear a noise thats like a creak, (Crrrrt... Crrrrr Crrrrrrrrrrt) and stops for a while, comes back and stops. I Haven't heard it when my desktop is idle. Only when running comp/hard games e.g - Warzone, Fortnite, and now even Among Us ! I've only heard this on fortnite, but now its happening with really low spec games.. I Heard this may be an issue called. Coil Whine, but coil whine is a continuous high pitched beeping kind of noise. Please help ASAP ! As I love my computer and don't want it in harm in any way.! Here's a recording of it. it stops and starts, but this is the longest time it did it. You might have to put on maximum volume and push ur headphones to your ears to hear it.

Hello, I booted up my 2020 13" MBP running macOS Catalina 10.15.7 today and was greeted with a macOS dialog box saying what's in the title of this post. The dialog box would show up every few seconds after dismissing it. Ran a scan with Malwarebytes and no threats were detected. Did some searching and came across this HPForum post: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printing-Errors-or-Lights-Stuck-Print-Jobs/Message-quot-HPDeviceMonitoring-framework-will-damage-your/td-p/7824355 Guy by the name of IronBadger (alleged Employee of HP) provides a link to download HP Easy Start which you can then use to remove existing HP software from your Mac. I uninstalled everything and after a restart the warning went away. Iron Badger claims that the issue is the result of out of date software (the security certificates have expired). Hopefully anyone else who is experiencing this can find this thread and move on.

Hello guys, I have to build several rack mounted systems which will be moved around. They don't need huge amounts of drive slots (the systems will only have SSDs in them) and will only have one GPU inside. But this GPU is the problem. I am kinda scared that when these systems will be moved (most of them will be mounted in television broadcasting vans) that the GPUs will break from their slots. Are there any 4U (or preferably even smaller but 4U would be fine) cases that have inbuilt GPU stability support (in bracket form or some other way)? The GPUs in question are also quite big/heavy (2080S and in the future 3080 and maybe 3090s) so even in a normal desktop case they could need some support stopping them from "sacking". If there aren't any such rack cases out there does anyone have an idea for the GPU support short of manufacturing custom mounting hardware? We are a very small, independent camera development company so all suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time and I hope you all have an awesome day.

The CPU is an intel i9 9900K

I will start off saying I have been building computers since I was 17 years old and I'm 32 now. I was thinking about making the jump from my i9 9900kf to an i9 12900k. I was looking for deals like everyone else. And looked to Ebay for a deal. And when my processor showed up, absolute horror when I flipped over the clear plastic case in the gold medallion. The processor was scratched! Like telling a ghost story around a campfire of computer enthusiasts, I know. I reached out to the seller and they had this to say. I'm sure they are just a scammer Ebay store and this is one of there automated responses. But, I hope you guys are smarter than me to look to Ebay for deals on delicate PC parts. I spent $488, I just hope Ebay gets my money back. Be careful looking for deals. gytusa sent you a message about your request: Hello, I did not send this processor in that conditions. It was heavily damaged during the installation or other movement. In addition, I package very carefully in the original package. I know accidents happen, but I don't agree that this is my fault in this case

Hi everyone! I discovered this vertical line screen damage on the IPS screen of my Lenovo Y700-15ISK laptop after wiping the heavy greasy dirt off the screen with a damp microfiber cloth. It is a dark spot on bright surfaces and it looks white when light shines on it (such as the flashlight of the camera). What is this damage, what could have caused it? I accidentally dropped my plastic ruler on the laptop screen from approximately 30 cm above and at an angle of 15 degrees, and I wanted to make sure it did not scratch the surface of the screen, that is why I cleaned the screen. There is no visible scratch, the ruler is made of soft plastic. Could this drop have caused this damage? Is there a way to fix it? Thank you. (The first two images are without camera flashlight and the second two images are with camera flashlight.)

True Damage are a new, virtual hip-hop group created by Riot Games derived from the game League of Legends. The group features artists Duckwrth, Thutmose, Becky G, Keke Palmer, and Soyeon from (G)I-DLE, the last of which also featured in Riot Games' virtual K-pop group K/DA, also playing Akali. As a fan fo K/DA and vibing with POP/STARS, I was very interested in True Damage when they were announced. I honestly had thought True Damage would've been similar to K/DA, but True Damage turned out to be featuring a hip-hop concept as conveyed by the characters' skins. The annoucements of artists like Becky G and Soyeon from (G)I-DLE caught me off guard as I immediately thought "There's no way they could do something similar to POP/STARS with this lineup." Of course, I knew I had to get on the Riot Games train of virtual groups, so today I'll be listening to True Damage's 'GIANTS' and talking about the composition, instrumentals, vocals, as well as parts that I like throughout the song. 0:06 - Such an earthy and heavy bass 'wub' to start things off to give a very urban vibe about this song so far. 0:12 - The same earthy and deep bass is awesome and accompanies the raspy yet contrasting tone of Thutmose, I'm loving his flow in this rap segment. 0:25 - The bass seems to have picked up a notch here as well as Thutmose elevating his tone a bit higher too, I like the hype his rap generates. 0:31 - I absolutely love that autotune, it's used perfectly to give his voice some switchup and body to keep his rap from being too bland and linear. 0:37 - The earthy bass has been swapped for an airy and breathy windy lowend with Becky G's vocals kicking in. It's a nice contrast from the urban and masculine atmosphere from Thutmose's verse to this serene and gracious pre-chorus. 0:49 - The chorus is banging, there's now a breathy and earthy bass instrumental to go with the vocals of Keke Palmer, her naturally mature and powerful vocal tone goes well with the instrumental which is around the same octave range, which creates a nice flow between the initial chorus with Thutmose and his urban and deep tone, and Becky G's sexy and airy tone, and here with the powerful vocals from Keke Palmer. Awesome chorus. 1:05 - Becky G enters back in with the same vibe as Thutmose's verse, the earthy and deep bass returns but this time matched with Becky G's sexy vocals for a nice contrast between Becky G and Thutmose's verses to keep the two verses from being too similar, and to keep the song interesting. 1:17 - Soyeon comes in with a vibe similar to Keke Palmer just now, they two share similar vocal tones but the difference here is that Soyeon has a slightly faster tempo in terms of her rap compared to Becky G who was very modest and calm in her pacing. 1:35 - What I like about this pre-chorus is that there is some slight subvocals in the (they won't) to keep the pre-chorus from being a repeat of the first pre-chorus and to keep the airy and open atmosphere of the song. 1:53 - I like that this second chorus prevents itself from being a copy of the first chorus by continuing on into an extension, this is awesome as I really expected it to go back to the "Sleeping giants, sleeping sleeping giants" but I love that the chorus continued along and kept the vibes going. 2:12 - Huge turn in tempo of the song, it's very low-key and hip-hoppy from Duckwrth, even his vocals/rap is very slow and calm, which is a huge mixup from the previous vibes from the song being very airy, deep, and mysterious. I like this bridge as it keeps the song from being too in-your-face with the bass as well as giving the listener some breathing room to take a break from the heavy and deep bass that has bee prevelant throughout the song. 2:40 - Keke's adlib "OOOOOH" is awesome. No other way around that, that was an awesome transition into the final chorus of the song. One last punchy, deep, bassy chorus to finish the song off after being teased with that lowkey and slow bridge. I really loved this collaboration. Everybody's voices throughout the song were recognisable in their own unique way, such as Becky G's sexy and seductive feminine voice, Soyeon's dominant and powerful voice, and Thutmose's urban and dark tone, they all blend together well in the composition of the song. Especially given how much I was hesitant about how all these artists' chemistry would work, but they all absolutely worked together and I love that. I absolutely love the dark, earthy, and deep bass that goes throughout the song, it really encapsulates the hip-hop and urban vibe that True Damage are going for, it's awesome. I love how dirty and deep the bass is, and I'm not usually one for bass. I think given that I'm using my FiiO FH5 in-ear monitors to play this song is why I enjoy all the low-end that this song offers. Do I like GIANTS more than K/DA's POP/STARS? I wouldn't say yes, but I wouldn't say no either. Both groups are unique in their own right, but GIANTS has a more interesting composition and arguably a more powerful chorus, the bass is so powerful and triumphant, and the transitions between verses, choruses, and especially that amazing bridge makes GIANTS a wonderfully-created song. I still haven't gotten over that extended chorus, it continues on the urban and dark vibe of the song and it's probably my favorite part of the entire song for just how powerful it makes the song sound. Just like K/DA, I would absolutely love more music from True Damage. Please Riot, please, I need more of GIANTS.

Hypothetically, if someone built their PC 3 years ago, and was an idiot and didn't look into why their PC/games crash slightly more than often, and system runs slower after being on for 3-4 hours, until recently where they found that their CPU runs at 70c idle and 99c under load, could that permanently damage the CPU permanently? As in, even with the thermal paste is getting replaced and cooler refitted tomorrow, has that hypothetical person just killed performance from their CPU permanently? Say the hypothetical CPU was a Ryzen 5 3600 with no OC for context.
