As you know the Arctic liquid Freezer II 360 AIO features three stock Arctic P12 fans, which are daisy chained TOGETHER with the pump. What does this mean? The 3 fans + the pump is essentially a SINGLE cable that you plug in to the motherboard's pump header. QUESTION: Would e.g. three daisy chained (plugged into the Arctic LF II AIO daisy chaining cable) Corsair LL120 fans work just as well, or would that present a problem? The reason I'm asking is due to possible power requirements. I presume there is no issue, but would still like some advice, as I am still planning some things. I'm going to be powering the LED's separately via the Corsair Commander Pro. The main build: CPU: 5900X Cooler: Arctic LF II 360 Motherboard: ROG X570 Strix-E Memory: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z Neo 3600 GPU: waiting for the potential release of the RTX 3080 Ti, and for anyone asking - no I don't mind the wait, even with my components waiting quietly in storage at the moment Storage: 970 EVO Plus 2TB PSU: Corsair RM1000x Since I'm still planning this build I presume this can be posted under New Builds and Planning? If not I apologize in advance, thank you for understanding.

I have the B450 Tomahawk Max, which has no 3-pin 5v headers for RGB. I want to get the Phanteks Eclipse P360A which comes with 2 ARGB fans and I want to buy another of the same fan (Phanteks PH-F120SK) for exhaust. So in total, 3 ARGB fans. I found this adapter which apparently can convert 3 pin 5v to 4pin 12v. My problems with this converter are: 1. Some people have said it limits your rgb to only static colors, so basically back to 12v functionality. 2. Only 1 3pin 5v port? Can I daisy chain all 3 fans and connect them to the 1 port or do I have to buy a 3 to 1 rgb splitter?

I saw a post on Reddit pertaining to the 3000 series cards saying not to daisy chain your power cables. Obviously based on the title I don't have a 3000 card. I have a 2070 Super, and for about a year and a half I have used a single power cable on it. Is that ok? I don't have any problems running games, but I don't want to start a fire or something. I don't have another power cable right now.

I have configured a triple daisy-chain monitor setup but it seems to not be working. I've tried it in two setups but I'm unsure what the issue is. I understand that I must be careful with bandwidth limitations, but I think I'm within margins. My triple monitor setup is as follows: Dell U2414h (w. DP 1.2 enabled) Dell U2414h (w. DP 1.2 enabled) Dell S3219D The cable setups are as follows: From 1 to 2, 10ft DP 1.4 cable or 6ft Mini DP cable From 2 to 3, 10ft DP 1.4 cable My computer specs: Windows 11, Version 10.0.22000 Build 22000 GTX 970 AMD Ryzen 5950x Whenever I boot with the setup described above, POST screen shows all monitors but then as Windows loads all screens go to sleep and PC becomes unresponsive. I've tried using the 10ft DP 1.4 cable and 6ft Mini DP cable as output from PC to 1, but still the same issue. Additionally, I tried the same setup on a Surface Book 3 (i7 version) using the USB-C to Mini DisplayPort cable to 1. In this case, the laptop boots fine but the third monitor is not recognized at all (not even in advanced displays). I understand that the Intel iGPU can only handle 3 monitors and there is no option to disable the Surface's screen... but the monitor is not even recognized. What additional debugging steps can I perform, or what other combination of cables / OS is reasonable to test? Or am I doomed...' Thanks!

I'm building a new pc with a 3090 that requires two 8 pin connections. My gigabyte1000 psu only came with multiple 8 pin connector psu end going to 2X[6+2 pin] connectors on the output end. I've read some arguments regarding daisy chaining 8 pin connections and I'm not totally sure one way or another but I think I'd prefer to be cautious. So my question is, is it possible to use two of these cables but only use 1x 6+2 from each cable? (I realise that the aesthetic would be worse but I don't care about looks) [also I am open to being convinced to joined one side of the daisy chaining argument given sufficient evidence]

Hello there, I'm seeing if it's at all possible to connect two displays i already own to my work laptop that has a single HDMI port and multiple USB3.1 type -c with thunderbolt support. Laptop: HP EliteBook 840 G7 Notebook https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06680927 Monitors: ROG SWIFT PG349Q https://rog.asus.com/au/monitors/32-to-34-inches/rog-swift-pg349q-model/spec/ has 1 display port and 1 HDMI ASUS VE248H https://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=16558&cPath=1087 has 1 HDMI and 1 DVI port open to upgrading secondary 24in monitor if it means i can have both monitors connected to my main PC and work laptop at same time. Just trying to see what my options are any help is appreciated.

Ok, so first off don't panic, I haven't actually got 3 working servers just yet, the other 2 are spare parts which I could turn into working machines for a fairly small investment. (why are VRMs more expensive than processors?!) Oh, and disclaimer, while I'm a bit brainy an a swift learner, I don't know a whole lot about networking and Linux has so far confused me with its sudo nonsense! So, speak clearly in concepts I can research rather than technical jargon if you want me to not cry. As the title says, I want to be able to turn 3 servers into 1 machine. If that isn't going to happen then stop reading here and call me an idiot for buying 100kg of stuff for no reason! Primary plan is utilise the 16 drive bays in 1 server for NAS, and allocate cores to VMs I can access through otherwise utterly useless tablet devices that can just about run a browser and cost somewhere approaching zero. These get dished out amongst different rooms to provide more chunky processing capabilities without having to have an actual computer in each room, or having to buy expensive tablets. Ye know, like starship Enterprise has one central computer doing all the shazam. Looking forward to Threadripper/Epyc getting cheap as anything in a few years' time! If the servers can be chained, obviously I'd end up with then 48 bays for drives which I'm sure RAIDz would be able to find a use for when it's bored. Secondary plan is to get the other 2 systems up and running and meld them all into one badass machine which can be used as and when I feel like it to do much more demanding tasks. Say video editing or encoding or other such nonsense. Yes, I'll probably have to slap some graphics capability in them but 680s seem to end up in the trash these days anyway. Tertiary plan is to spend left over crunching power doing something bit-coin shaped (if it's even worth doing any more) or even perhaps as a remote powerhouse that I can flog processing time on/donate to nuclear physics laboratories. Or, slightly more sensibly, give me the ability to continue composing/producing music over the internet because I'm not spending £3k on a laptop which is actually up to task. If I can't access my network (and thus VMs) from the internet then what the bloody hell is the point in the internet anyway?! Machines are (drum roll) ProLiant ML370 G5s. 1. 2x X5355s with 44GB(DDR2) and many many HDDs 2. 1x X5459 with 16GB(DDR2) and zero HDDs 3. A mother board. And a case that weighs about 40kg. 4. £200 Now, assuming what I want to do is at all feasible.... Questions! 1. Will I need to use the same processor in each machine? One assumes that paired processors are required in a 2 slot board (yes noob, I know, it's savage guess work!) and so would that mean I would thus need all the processors to be the same? 2. Will unraid or FreeNAS fit the bill? I'm quietly confident that some form of Ubuntu will manage the task but that would mean I need to know things and stuff, and that's not currently the case. 3. Can you convince Linus et al to do a video on it? Seriously, if you search youtube for 'daisy chain server' it's pretty much a googlewhack picking up nothing but noise and some woman getting series and parallel electrical circuits a bit wrong. He'd get a million hits anyway, the stuff costs sod all and it'll help usher in the future of houses which actually come with a computer installed in them. I bet even Bill Gates'd watch it! 4. Using unraid/FreeNAS, can the VMs actually access the NAS?! I know it seems like a stupid question, but honestly when I think about it the VMs would need to talk to the NAS as a network location, right? Would that make things get all confused? 6 (sod 5 that's boring). If there are many ways to daisy chain and it's not a myth, what's the best way? I can imagine a PCIe card that just connects the systems together on a primal level, but if it can only be achieved by Ethernet cable is 1Gbit/s actually swift enough? G. Is there a resource (video channel or some such) which speaks Linux/Ununtu but also translates into people? Level 1 Tech is great and they do seem to be the most likely, but can't find anything which'd give me an idea of what is and isn't possible. 8. If Ethernet is the way forth... Is It better to hook the machines to a network switch using 2x Gbit/s inputs, rather than one into another into another and then 2 feeds to a main router from first and last machine? 9. Can I add extra machines willy nilly? 'cause if I'm picking up more servers for dirt cheap and decide 24 cores is getting dull and boring and I've discovered some way to actually make money out of it, then I might want to waste even more time making a properly mental super computer which could one day take over the world! Yeah ok, it's unlikely, but a megalomaniac can dream! 10. The servers have iLO. Integrated Lights Out. What's that then? It seems to be a remote console thingy jobby but it doesn't work in Win10 and I have no idea what I'm doing with WinServer '08! Anyway, thank you very much for reading this internal monologue of mine and I do hope that at the very least my enthusiasm has brightened your day! Jon ps if it posts multiple times it's because my service provider I having trouble finding their own stable connects, let alone mine!

Hi all! We're upgrading our computers at the office and have a display configuration in mind that I would love to just run by you guys (and girls!) to make sure we don't run into any unforeseen troubles. Especially given the fact that it involves daisy chaining through Displayport, which I have no experience with. We're considering purchasing the Dell Optiplex 3050 sff. However, we need to be able to connect three displays and this particular configuration only has 1 HDMI and 1 Displayport 1.2 out. We've considered other configurations that would provide three display outs but they don't give the same value for money, or are under- or overspecced for our needs. I was thinking of hooking up one monitor to the HDMI out and 2 to the Displayport out through a Daisy chain, purchasing only one monitor that supports MST (has a DP out). I suppose my questions are: If I set up a daisy chain through the DP, can I still use the HDMI out simultaneously? If I want to hook up two displays to the DP out, will it suffice to have ONE monitor with MST capabilties (with a DP out, we're thinking of the Dell U2414h), and can the last monitor in the chain be any monitor that has a DP in? Thanks so much for your time. I don't see any issues with this configuration but would love some confirmation before we splurge on a few of these sets.

Hello! I recently discovered that there are 2 types of boards: 1: Daisy Chain & 2: T-Topology. From what I’ve heard, the daisy chain type works better with 2 memory modules, while the t-topology works better with 4 memory modules. Some say on the internet that the Z390 Aorus Master is T-Topology type. I couldn’t find a good link on this subject for this particular board. I use my PC as a workstation for music production. I don’t enable memory XMP (it’s a PnP type anyway). To me, it’s not so important to run memory at super speed, because I’m not a gamer. But I do need to move around large audio files, so I’d like to increase my memory size from 32GB to 64GB. Questions: 1. Is Z390 Aorus Master a t-topology type? 2. Is there a way to check if it’s a t-topology or a daisy chain type? 3. Is there something else that I should know?

Will daisy chained PCIe 6+2 affect performance of gpu?

Well, I have been running a 4 monitor set up for a few years, 3 monitors and a tv display above and for a long time this was fine I had them all running on there own cable to the GPU (current GPU is EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FTW ). but I recently got an HTC Vive and quickly found I needed more ports so I did a little looking and upgraded my monitors to 3 Viewsonic VP2468's which have DP in and DP out for daisy chaining I thought this would be the way to go so it will only use one DP port for the GPU. cut to 3 hours now and my computer will only see one monitor and just repeat the display on the other two monitors I have tried everything I could google with no luck I'm pulling my hair out. If anyone can help I would be super grateful would even send you out my old monitors if you want them. there's still good 1080p ISP 60Hz. Hardware - GPU is EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FTW - Intel i7-6700k - 32GB Ram -Windows 10 64bit Things I have already tried Updating drivers both GPU and Monitors Updating monitors Firmware turned off monitors auto-detect input (Viewsonic's guide recommended this) Turned on MST unplugged all other displays form GPU (tv & Vive)

This is a more kind of why "there is not (yet)" type of question. Why there is not a high end video card with USB Type-C (thunderbolt) video output? For example, what if I want a pro-sumer rig, with 3 screens, but don't want all the 6 cables (3 power, 3 video) that come with it. Mabie, only 1 usb type C chaining the 3 screens directly to the video Card, or maybe, just 3 direct cables from the card. Could the architecture support it?

I have a Dell-XPS 13 (2015) laptop that only has one mini-display-out, currently i am using a 27" Acer K272HUL 1440p monitor with a mini-displayport to displayport cable, i got a second 27" 1080p monitor i want to use but it only has an hdmi and a dvi-port, no displayport, the acer monitor has a dp-out port built in so i can daisy chain another monitor to it. What i want to know is, would i be able to daisy chain the 1080p monitor with a Dp to Hdmi cable, or does both monitors have to have displayport to work with daisy chaining.

I was looking for a good monitor that is display port daisy chain compatible 20 to 25 in and under $300 ips and vesa compatible would be nice. Thank you!

Hey Guys, I seem to be having an issue with Daisy chaining my monitors and I thought you guys might be able to help. I currently have two Dell U2715H and an MSI GTX970. I've plugged DP to DP into my computer and from my main monitor a Mini DP to DP on my second monitor. I went into the settings and enabled DP1.2 on my main monitor and it just went blank. So I thought I needed both to be on DP1.2 so I enabled the second one as well (accessing the options through HDMI) but they were just both blank (second display set to mDP). Since they both went blank I had to change them back to DP v1.1 through a HDMI connection I've checked the GPU and it says the DP is v1.2 with a Max Res of 4096x2160 @60 Hz. Is there something that I'm missing? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

I have these little rinky dink speakers I bought a few years ago for my laptop that did well for what i used them for(music and movies). I now have a desktop that with an asus Z97-deluxe motherboard and i want to get better speakers, nothing amazing but something to get a little better audio quality while I'm gaming. The only thing is i want to still keep the speakers i have(nostalgia and i like the light shows it puts on while its in use). I know i can just plug them in the one of the many audio jacks that i have on my mobo but i dont plan on using them in a surround sound set up. Any suggestions of speakers i can daisy chain the ones i have to. My Budget is around 75$.

Hey everyone, I have finally saved up enough to by myself a Gigabyte GeForce GTX780 GHz Edition, but I have a query about its power requirements. It requires 2 8 pin connectors and I was curious if anyone knew if I could daisy chain these. I have a cable that came with my power supply which has 2 8 pin connectors on it, and it attaches to the power supply by just one 8 pin connector, but I'm not sure if the card needs 2 individual 8 pins to avoid any issues. Anyone know which option I should use? I would prefer the daisy chain option if that available. Thanks for your help! Bryce

Hi, I've already got two monitors with DP1.2 in a daisy chain. They're both the Dell Ultrasharp U2414H. Can I add a third monitor at the end of the chain if it's not DP1.2? It obviously doesn't need an output since it's the last one in the chain. The monitor I'm looking at getting is the LG 29UM65. And also with it being a 21:9 ratio, can I also use different resolutions in the same chain? I could use a different plug, but it'll require a bit of work. I've already got a DisplayPort cable coming from my computer. Thanks!
