Do you think you could Daily drive a VR headset as a substitute for a monitor and have a good experience? Like if you were playing games or just internet browsing?

My gaming rig specs are, in my honest and unfortunately somewhat bias opinion, respectable. A Ryzen 3700X paired with a G.SKILL TridentZ 16GB 3200 kit in dual channel and accompanied by a EVGA 2070 Super on an ASRock x370 Taichi Motherboard. It plays the games I like (single player titles) at a smooth enough framerate at my preferred resolution (1920x1080). I do have a plan in the works to move up to a 5000 series (or should I just wait for 6000 at this point? Anyway) when they are more readily available with a mobo and ram upgrade to boot for some casual streaming. But then again I don't feel any real NEED to upgrade this machine. It works fine when I power it on to play some games. This is not, however, my daily driver. It hasn't been for more than a month. Which, when I finally realized this a few days ago, came as a bit of a shock to me. I am currently typing this from my thrown-together linux box from parts I had in the closet from previous builds. An AMD FX-8320 "Eight" core processor, Two kits of Corsair 8GB for a total of 16GB using up all four slots (unsure of the speed). This is on an ASUS Sabertooth 990FX mobo and topped off with an Gigabyte R9 280X. This is, by all specs, a vastly inferior system to my gaming rig yet I am finding myself preferring it. Now I don't want to turn this into a Linux Vs Windows debate. I like Windows 10. I am not a linux advocate proclaiming that you need to dump 'windoze' right now and boot up the current popular linux distro. Hell, as a long time linux user I would advise against doing just that. Linux takes a good long while to get the hang of and no one should ever do a cold switch IMO (besides most of the popular distros are garbage *coughcoughUBUNTUcough*). Windows 10 is still my first choice for gaming and I doubt that will change anytime soon. No, I am writing this more out of my surprise at just how well this system is running. This system is just shy of a decade old, most of the parts being bought in the first quarter of 2012 (besides the graphics card). But as far as basic desktop use goes (browsing, writing, watching videos) and can not detect a difference between this system and my gaming rig in responsiveness. Hell, the added graphical eyecandy seems to give this system a smoother feel to it than the obviously faster gaming rig. I know that if I slapped windows on this machine (or linux on the other) and ran comparable benchmarks, this system would handedly lose and by a severe margin. But with its ultra-quick boot (power on to desktop in less that five seconds) and snappy desktop, I feel as if I don't care. Anyone else out there with old-hardware daily drivers that get more use than your top-of-the-line gaming rigs? Share your specs!

Does anyone have experience using a China ver phone (specifically Xiaomi) as their daily in the States or Europe? I recently saw a really good deal on a Redmi 10x but I know that phone has never gotten a global version. Would it be as simple as choosing English, removing bloatware and installing the playstore or is it more complicated than that? Would I have to flash GAPPS or would just installing google apps like maps & gmail be ok ? Preferably I'd like to not root the phone but I do have experience with rooted phones ( although I've only ever rooted android emulators which probably doesn't count tho). Basically if anyone has experience using a China rom as their daily driver I'd like to know what I'd need to expect ?

I just want to know what do people hear within the Tech community drive as their daily vehicle or just fun vehicle on the weekend or so when they're not working on computers or gaming or using their computers as workspace or working? Me: 1976 Dodge Charger SE You can't go wrong with a Chrysler 400 cubic inch V8 engine and three speed automatic transmission and luxury appointments to go along with it and with torsion bar suspension. With AM/FM stereo and heating and air conditioning. Two-door hardtop with a half vinyl landau roof. And the cheapest generation Dodge Charger you can buy. And with many Tech options to go with this car that it had at the time. Fit up to six people in this car.

So I put together an Amazon wishlist. This would replace my current setup that is kinda cringy. I mean sure, Good CPU/GPU, but it seriously lacks portability. When I go to friend's houses/Lan Parties, I need to bring whatever laptops I have that can play games decent(best has 950m). So here it is. BTW i also have a Razer core already. http://a.co/cmwdomz Any thoughts are appreciated, so comment away. No, Im not gonna build a desktop. Being mobile is my main concern.

Wondering what a good custom full CPU+GPU cooling setup would be for overclocking to and or above 5.0Ghz (on CPU) and 2.0Ghz (on GPU). Already looking at custom cooling for RAM overclocking as well (ex. Thermaltake showed off WaterRAM at CES 2019). Any thoughts or suggestions? BTW there is no budget.

What phone should I get for the next 4 years. Is Doogee S80's cpu that good that I can play GTA San without problems. I'll use it as my daily driver next 3-4 years. Suggest me phone under 300 USD if that's not a good choice. Thanks!

This is going to be quite a read, you've been warned ? Hello everyone ? So, after my current setup (6600k @4.4GHz all core & GTX1080) is starting to show it's age in modern Triple-A games and my birthday is coming up soon I've devided to start a new build completely from scratch. 1. Budget & Location I am located in Austria, where there's sadly absolutely no kangaroos and I plan to spend about 3000-3500€ (roughly equals to 3300-3900 $US and 4400-5100 $CAD) but that's not a hardwall limit. Don't get me wrong, of course I plan to stay within the budget to some degree but I won't go and hang myself with a powercord if I overspend a little bit, talking about the 10%ish range. 2. Aim The main focus is going to be gaming (1440p G-Sync 144Hz monitor) and procrastinating on the internet aka. watching Youtube videos. I've always wanted to get into gamedesign but never found the time to do so - probably I'll find some time in the future and I'd like to be set for that to a certain degree. I play games like Minesweeper, Candy Crush and some browsergames.... ? jk I play mostly Triple-A titles, for instance Forza Horizon 4, Division 2, Anno 1800, Ghost Recon Breakpoint (that's where the idea startet as I was experiencing performance issues and stuttering), Red Dead Redemption 2, probably Grid, probably Need for Speed Heat, when it releases Watchdogs Legion and of course the obvious Cyberpunk 2077. Whenever it releases Dying Light 2. With my current hardware pick I'll also get 3 free games which are: The Outer Worlds, Borderlands 3, CoD Modern Warfare and 3 months free Xbox Game Pass so I'd also get to play Gears 5 I think. 3. Monitors I am currently running two monitors, both 2560x1440, both IPS, one of them GSync 144Hz (currently not OCd to 165) the other one regular 60Hz being only a side monitor. ((Acer Predator XB271HU and Dell U2715H)) Both connected to DP. At this moment I'm not planning on changing anything about the monitors, however, IF a proper 4k GSync monitor with high refresh rates shows up for an acceptable price I'd be very tempted. I know, there is the Acer Predator XB3 which is basically the successor to my monitor but I strongly dislike the wide bezels - my monitors are both slim bezel at the moment and I don't like the idea of giving that up as they're side by side as close as possible on monitor arms. 4. Peripherals There's no plan the purchase new peripherals. Currently on Logitech G910 Orion Spectrum, a Roccat Nyth for in-game and a Logitech MX Master for superior desktop mousing. 5. Why are you upgrading? I'm upgrading mainly because I've been experiencing some quite annoying stutter from time to time in Ghost Recon Breakpoint and I'm concerned that might as well happen with the upcoming games. My CPU being pinned to 100% basically all the time, my setup is now about 4 years old and a round-numbered birthday is coming up... and I've got nothing else "stupidly overpriced" to gift myself that I definitely "need", I'm sure many of you know what I mean. Of course I wouldn't HAVE to, I could as well lower my expectations a bit, I'm indeed aware of that, but I'm not really the person to do so and I also don't mind it being somewhat overkill for what I really would need, so that's that - and that's how they always get me, it happened when buying a car, it happened when buying a motorcycle, it literally always happens - I know, first world problems 10/10 and nobody would believe me if I said I'm the victim in all of this. So here's my current hardware picks, of course those vendors and prices are not applicable to me being in Europe: PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8 GHz 12-Core Processor $499.99 @ Best Buy CPU Cooler Noctua NH-D15 CHROMAX.BLACK 82.52 CFM CPU Cooler $99.95 @ Amazon Motherboard Gigabyte X570 AORUS ULTRA ATX AM4 Motherboard $299.89 @ OutletPC Memory G.Skill Trident Z Neo 32 GB (4 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory $334.99 @ Newegg Storage Gigabyte AORUS NVMe Gen4 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive $209.99 @ Amazon Video Card Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11 GB AORUS XTREME WATERFORCE Video Card $1349.99 @ Amazon Case NZXT H510i ATX Mid Tower Case $99.99 @ Amazon Power Supply Corsair RM (2019) 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply $128.99 @ Amazon Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total (before mail-in rebates) $3053.78 Mail-in rebates -$30.00 Total $3023.78 Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-10-23 16:46 EDT-0400 I'v already got my dirty paws on the D15 chromax - but I did get some weird special edition, I don't know, Noctua seem to have teamed up with some Youtube guy named Linus?! Anyone heard of him? He seems to be wearing socks and sandals a lot while dropping stuff and he keeps telling me about Glasswire ? My thoughts and why I picked these components: this is going to be be quite a read You've finally made it through. If there's a typo please forgive me, english is not my first language - you may keep said typo as a little something for your time ? Please excuse the essay-length but I spent the last days and nights trying to figure this out. Let me know your thoughts on all of that hot mess. I desparately need help picking RAM, PLEASE ? Thank you for taking the time, have a great day. PS: love you Linus & LTT ?

Hi guys, I have a weird question for you. OK, first thing first, lets explain the situation: I need to fresh install both of my machines this holiday vacation time, and I have legal keys for everything. So yeah, on both of my rigs Im mainly gaming but also programming and server hosting through VirtualBox... I was wondering if i'd get any benefit if i'd replace my main OS (both windows 10) with windows server 2012 R2 (I have a key for one "essential edition" and a "standard edition"). or would it be better to keep it the way I am and Keep windows 10 as main OS and windows server in VMs... Both rigs needs to be able to install nvidia geforce drivers, one needs SLI support Both runs intel CPUs (one has an i5-4460 on a b85 chipset while the other is an i7-5820K on the X99 chipset they have 8GGB and 16GB(soon 32GB) they have SSD boot drives with HDD for mass storage they both need to be able to install -MS Office -MS Project -MS Visual Studio and many others will I get any benefit from doing this? will I be able to do everything a normal desktop OS does?

So for my dads birthday I am looking at building a new computer for him. I budgeted around $300 not very strict about that exact price. Also I do no need a HDD for this build but would like to include a SSD for him. He would use the computer just for browsing the internet, youtube, quicken, and listening to music. I know it sounds really basic but he likes to have lots of tabs and appkications open at the same time so a little power would be good for him. Here is what I have so far. http://pcpartpicker.com/user/maxar6/saved/gzh8TW
