Hello, Thank you in advance. I'm looking to buy a pair of RS 185's but sadly my motherboard (B450 Tomahawk Max) doesn't come with an optical port to support the 185's receiver. Because of this I've been looking into USB DAC's but was wondering if I need to find one with an optical out or if when using one I can just use RCA without a drop in performance. Setup would be: Headphone Receiver -> DAC -> PC Headphone to DAC would be either by Optical or RCA, and DAC to PC would be USB Thanks again - Gilbertomus

I have an audio problem I have to solve. A friend of mine is having issues with their Heath and Alan Soundboard and he is having issues with the USB working with OBS Studio. So I need to go another route. I need to know is there a DAC or some kind of device that can take a headphone out into an Aux input. I am DAC are usually outputs but is there a USB audio device that can do what I am looking to do?

What equipment do I need? I want a turntable I want stereo bookshelf speakers I want to be able to listen to records through the speakers or my Sennheizer HD 598 Cs It would also be nice if I could hook my computer up to the speakers. I would like to stay bellow $300 for the bookshelf speakers, turntable, and receive or whatever you all recommend to get instead. I am really new to audio equipment so I am confused with preamps, dacs, passive vs. powered speakers etc... Thanks in advance for the help!

Ok this is my build : MyPC Do I actually need a Soundcard? Using this pc for video editing.(adobe premiere pro) So having a good quality audio is a must.(already have a good ? mic) Also probably using obs (for my other channel) So two software i’m thinking right now is Adobe and obs(both I can play with the audio quality). But having a sound card or a DAC would make my audio better? —pc wise, most of my recordings in the past are recorded in my laptop ?, now with my workflow improve does it affect having a DACS or Soundcard my audio recording? Hello I recently bought the k712 pro as it was recommended to me. I want to get amp n DAC to power it or whatever they do ahha. My budget is £200 and will be used mainly for gaming, music and movies in that order. I've looked at a few such as fiio 5k pro and topping l30 I think it was called. Don't really know what I'm looking for but I've been told it needs to be able to provide 1w into 320 ohms. Suggestions needed thanks!

An article over on PCWorld looks at why you may or may not be able to easily use your third party USB-C headset or dongles with your new phone. A big part of this problem arises from whether the phone has/is using a built in DAC or not. What this leads to is that some dongles will work across a range of devices while others won't and the same with the headset. Hi all, I'm going to my first ever Canjam pretty soon (Canjam NYC) and I was hoping to get some tips. I was definitely planning on bringing my fiio e17k with a USB and aux cable along with some flacs on my phone. However, I really want to try out some amps and dacs(namely schiit and woo audio) to see how they sound and I'm not really sure how it works getting headphones to listen to them. I have the HD 6xx and it would be great to listen to the amps with the 650s, and I don't want to have to bring mine but might if that's the only way I'll be able to listen to them. On the flip side, what kinds of amps/dacs will headphone booths like Sennheiser, audeze and hifiman have? I assume very neutral whatever they are. Thank you!

I am planning to buy a hyper x cloud II and I am wondering if I will need a DAC/Amp to be able to enjoy it. On a side note I have a bose companion 3 series 1 with a controller pod and I am wondering of that pod will work as an amp/dac. Here is the Companion 3

I'm upgrading my headphones and I was wondering which of the two would be better for listening to music And gaming for hours on end. My main concern is comfort though because I use my headphones for around 4-5 hours a day while doing research and reports. I think the k7xx needs an amp and the fiio e10k seems to be good enough to power it if I get the k7xx but does the x2 even need one? I don't know if my motherboard has any built in DAC (Asus z-170a). Hey y'all! I have finally decided to bite the bullet and rid myself of the awful Turtle Beach x12 gaming headset. They have been my daily driver for a long time but the discomfort, mediocre sound quality, and unnecessarily long cable for my applications have made me decide that it is time for an upgrade. I initially I looked at the AKG Q 701 Quincy Jones Signature with a FiiO E10K but later decided against the AKGs due to their fatiguing amount of detail in the high end. I have now narrowed my search to the Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro-250 OHMs and the Sennheisher HD 598s. I still plan to get the FiiO DAC because of its reasonable price and features. My question is, if I listen to mostly hard rock (we are talkin' Alter Bridge, Soundgarden, System of a Down, Slash, Halestorm) which of those two headphones fits my use case? I also do some light gaming, (TF2 kind of stuff nothing immersive) Thanks so much! Kellen

Hey Guys/Girls! I'm new to the forum and to the PC building community. I am putting together my new desktop tomorrow! I have learned so much from LinusTechTips, I have all my computer parts picked put and ready to go.... but now I have more questions which I can not figure out... I want a decent audio set up. I'm looking for suggestions for a DACs/amps(I know those are two different things. Should I buy them separately or not?), headphones, and any other audio devices I may need to make my experience better. I listen to a lot of music. Looking forward to your input!

I found Schiit audio a while ago, but I haven't really seen too much talked about them. Their components look really nice and the options they offer look like really good options, I was wondering if anyone on the LTT forum has any Schiit equipment or has any experience with it, because I'm interested in buying a DAC and Amp pair from them at some point. I mainly want to know personal experiences with them and suggestions if possible. Thanks if you can help! Cheers!
