I'm trying to render a model I made in sketchup using blender. All works fine, I'm able to import and start working, but almost as soon as I try to render any grass in real time blender crashes and closes. Running 16gb of 2666 ram and a 1650ti.

Do you know what sucks. My corsair HX850 is hard shutting down my pc when I use my 1080 ti and 980ti in blender cycles together. When I use just one of the gpus to render cycles pc stays on. I work in IT support but I really dont get much into the electronics stuff or stuff thats more in the field of an electrician. What I have tried so far is to try one gpu as i stated above. I also tried putting the 1080ti on one pcie wire that has the two ends. I knew that running two wires was easyer on the psu but I wondered if there was a rail issue. In msi afterburning i put both cards to 80% power but it still shut down. I wana try going harder on that and even try lowering the clocks. I put a kelowat meter on the whole system and it read 422w when rending with both gpus. I checked temps of the gpu's and cpu but they were in spec. one gpu is watercooled and the other is a gygabite windforce 3 so the temps are pretty good. CPU is cooled by a notua but its too small for it. I will upgrade it later to water when i can buy the tubes and fittings, Games just use the one gpu so no shutdowns there. My knowlage on the internals of psu's are limited and all I have is a multi meter to test but Its been a few years since my electronics and electricity college course segment. Please help me to keep removing varables until we can identify the cuase. I have been thinking about adding a 2070 or a 2070 super to my rig which currently consists of a 1070ti , ryzen 2700x, 48gb of ram and an aorus gaming wifi 5 x470. The main reason I want to get a rtx 2070 is its ability to use ray tracing for 3d rendering programs. The addon e-cycles for blender is an optimised renderer that uses the GPU to get renders 2.5x faster, with an rtx card rendering is 4.7x faster. So my main question , is it a good idea to have both cards in the rig? I know games won't be able to utilize both but could rendering? What would the cons be of switching from a 1070 gtx to a 2070 rtx? And if it would be better to sell the evga 1070ti ftw do you have a y suggestions on where to sell it and how much you would ask for it

Hello, I just want to ask those with A10 Apu's if blender cycles works?

Before I start this thread, "Get a PC" is unfortunately not an option. I'm using a Mac Pro (late 2013 model running High Sierra) at work specifically so I can share Premiere Pro project files with the rest of the editing group without filepath conflicts, and previously was using a PC. After attempting a combination of VNC and Synergy, it was concluded that I should connect all of my monitors to my Mac and just remote to my Windows desktop for IT tasks. All was well until I tried to use a total of three displays, though I was aware of some strange compatibility requirements concerning the type of connectors with Macs. I first tried using two mini displayport to DVI adapters in thunderbolt bus 1 and 2, and then connected my third display with an HDMI to DVI adapter. No matter what I tried, the last display connected would show the sleep message, go black, and then return to the sleep message, and cycle repeatedly. Switching what monitor was connected where or using an HDMI to HDMI cable (one of my displays has HDMI in addition to VGA and DVI) had no effect. I then found a mini displayport to VGA adapter, which surprisingly allowed all three displays to function flawlessly, but the VGA connected display was hopelessly blurry. I then concluded that the issue resulted from using both the HDMI and thunderbolt ports on the Mac and found a third mini displayport to DVI adapter, which again did not work (however, this one was not an official apple cable like the first two), causing the same "sleep loop" issue. It would seem that there is some issue with using three DVI monitors with a Mac Pro depending on how they are connected. Can someone with more OS X experience explain what cable setup I would need to make this work? Or if it's possible at all? The monitors in question are three old mismatched ones: Dell ST2420L (DVI, VGA) Dell P2412H (HDMI, DVI, VGA) Samsung EX2220 (DVI, VGA) The graphics card is an AMD FirePro D300. 1. Budget & Location £UK (shitty as it is) although if it has to be Ill make do with $USD and have to swallow an additional 20% vat tax to the price if its only in the US. (although if its available in Europe/Asia I might have an option to buying them). Currently I have a budget of £1500 for everything else after the graphics card. 2. Aim Rendering rig/Streaming rig and part time gaming rig too 3. Monitors No need for now as I have a projector and will be using VR headsets often 4. Peripherals VR rig and a good camera and microphone I've tried Vive and Windows MR headsets, haven't had a chance with Oculus yet, and with the new ones on the horizon I'm holding out till maybe the pimax. 5. Why are you upgrading? Haven't had a new rig in over 5 years and my current laptop just cant handle the level of rendering I need. Pus I want to give streaming a try. 6.Whats not needed? I already bought a nice GPU (Radeon Pro Duo with plans for an additional 1080ti once gpus finally calm down) and I plan to buy a AMD - Threadripper 1950X 3.4GHz once I get back to the UK. I however way behind on which things like motherboards, cooling, power and even cases. I tried pcpicker but I'm reading problems with certain motherboards to the cpu, I'm not fussed on rgb lighting as Ill be mainly focusing on noise reduction and cooling. So I hope that covers most of the requirements for the forum, anyone have something similar built already or planning to?

Hey guys, within the last days i tested all available versions of cycles render engine in Blender. I created a test scene with 5 balls and different materials (diffuse, mix of diffuse and glossy, mix of glossy, glass, diffuse and emission, glass and glossy). The whole scene is lighted by a point lamp and 2 planes with emission shaders. This is how it looks:

I am using Blender cycles to animate some short "how to" videos for my work. I may be getting a $10,000 budget for a tower. I having been looking at what kind of build would be best with Blender, but having issues nailing down the best card to use. Considering that the software aside from Windows is free, pretty much leaves me to using the budget for the hardware completely. (Yes, my companies Firewall and network IT's make it Hell for anyone not using Windows, so that's a must.) I am thinking that the best CPU for the buck is a XEON E5 v3. If there is anyone with a better CPU in mind, please let me know. As for the GPU, I am looking at the Titan X. Mostly because of the 12 GB of memory. My current laptop card, a Quadro K2100M, (sucks for Blender), only has 2 GB memory. So it is limiting my ability to render nice scenes. (Crashes) But, someone said that a Titan Z would be better due to it being a double core card, versus the X's single core card. But that limits my memory to 6GB. I hope 6 GB would be enough for anyone. But didn't want to take the chance. Plus I was thinking of putting in a few Titan X cards. The other thing I considered was getting a Tesla K80, or even two K40's. I do not have a great wealth of knowledge when it comes to this stuff, and hope that someone with good experience out there can shed some light on what's best and why. I understand bang for the buck. I simply want a build that will get me the faster render times with a $9,000 - $10,000 limit. Thanks for any help guys! The most recent BMW render test took the GPU 12-1/2 minutes! Ah!!!! Laptops.
