Sorry I have a lot of questions I want to ask so I'll do it at once here since there's some case modding and some PSU cabling. I'll start with the psu. I got myself used but basically new RM850i for cheap. One of the reasons I got it was to get myself custom sleeved cables. I know I can do extentions but to me that's more for psu-s that don't have modular options. I wanted to go get my cables done at first from something like cablemod, that was off the table because of the expense. I won't pay for a few cables as much as I paid for the PSU itself. Next I thought about doing it myself, however that got complicated really quick. So here's my predicament: 1.) What kind of connectors does PSU and PC use from what I gathered they are 5557 automotive connectors, but I'm confused what pitch? I believe it's 4.2mm but if someone knows for sure please tell me. 2.) Where to get them in bulk or for a decent price? I'm thinking about getting them here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32802993594.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.25c77f1c4NixNc&algo_pvid=65be8bcc-5b2a-4e71-b9a8-78b60f458822&algo_expid=65be8bcc-5b2a-4e71-b9a8-78b60f458822-0&btsid=0ab6d59515861000855057984ec9d9&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_ 3.) What kind of wire to use. From what I gathered it's a good idea to use 16AWG but from what I see 18 is used for my PSU. The question is also about it being a good idea in the long term since the 16awg wire is twice as expensive. Wire link: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32624865621.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.26e83c00EXV0cY&mp=1 4.) How to choose sleeving diameter. So the external diameter of this wire above is 2.3mm. Does that mean I go 3mm? If I go 16 awg that has 3mm do I go 4mm? What is a good rule of thumb for this kind of thing as to make the wire look half decent? I will go with a black wire and dark sleeving. 5.) Are gold plated contacts a thing? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33008446545.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.3cb97f1c2QYpSw&algo_pvid=67009243-6645-440a-bd05-049d6be17355&algo_expid=67009243-6645-440a-bd05-049d6be17355-9&btsid=0ab6d67915861011511901600e5202&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_ The case I'm using a Fractal define c case. I mounted the front 140mm fans and the rear 120mm with a bit of a caveat. I wanted to use those rubber screw things, but also those rubber fan frames (i really wanted the thing to be quiet). One problem the case uses those slits for fans so you can mount with fans at different heights. No problem, I'm an engineer so I designed like a thing for reducing the hole diameter and to lock the rubber screw in place, image below, the part is 3d printed and friction fits in the slit. I did that for all the fans on the case. I assembled the case and wanted to test the acoustics. The fans spin up to max speed and I have a terrible low pitch humming noise every half a second to a second. From what I deduced it's from the front fans being close together and having a sort of weird oscillating resonance between them. I did what every sensible person would. Whipped out a sound meter and did the testing. Fans mounted just with the screws, screws plus rubber bumpers, just the rubber screws and rubber screws and bumpers. Made little to no difference to raw dB output. Around 58-59 on full speed. The resonance was reduced a bit with just the rubber screws and just the normal screws. However it's still quite noticeable, is there any other way one would go about reducing that noise? I'm using Arctic P14 PWM PST CO fans in the front and the same fan just 120mm in the rear. The rear fan is really quiet even at full speed and makes no wired noises.

Hello, I am starting my first custom loop in the next couple weeks, and I plan on doing full custom sleeved cables for the Lian-Li PC-09 chassis with the Corsair HX750i. However, due to the way my budget was structured, it was easier to buy all the watercooling and cable parts/tools first. So I have everything I could need for that. However, I would like to start the custom cables sooner rather than later, so my question is this: Can anyone tell me the approximate length that the 24pin ATX power cable should be for this particular case and similarly sized PSU? The dimensions of the case are (W)354mm (H)482mm (D)465mm, and the length of the corsair PSU is 180mm long, in case there is a mathematical way to estimate it. Any help or advice for this subject is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hi All, I'm currently trying to re-sleeve all my cables in my PC, making proper custom length cables. I was wondering if it was possible to replace the PCI-E 6+2 connector with just an 8 connector. If so, how do I connect the pins. Currently (with the top clip facing up), the top left terminal on the PSU connector has two cables in it connecting to the +2 connector on the PCI-E. The bottom right terminal on the PSU connector is empty. Hopefully this makes sense, thanks.

Hello. I built my first computer a few months ago, and I am new to the whole modding computers thing. I am looking into doing custom sleeving for my computer. I have looked at sites like cablemod and ensourced, however I cant find any information for my PSU. I have a EVGA 650w GQ (http://www.evga.com/products/Product.aspx?pn=210-GQ-0650-V1). While browsing those sites, I saw g2, g1, etc... however i cant seem to find the GQ model anywhere. Can I use any custom PSU cables or should I use extension cables from those sites? If extensions are the best then should I worry which kind I get? (like are they made to be global or only for g2)

A few months ago I set out to upgrade my system, and a friend decided to join in, but after some discussion we ended up with entirely new builds instead. Vector. For the past two decades I’ve been heavily invested in PC gaming, with it I found my passion for computers, and overclocking, to gain that extra performance no amount of money could give you, having built systems dedicated to close ones for over a decade I’ve learned a great deal and enjoy sharing my knowledge with others to get the most out of their systems. I started to take it more seriously a few years back and began testing games with various hardware, and I realized I could really use an open case, so when I discovered the BenchCase by Vector Custom Design I was ecstatic, it remains unique by the fact that it also serves as a proper gaming case. Qlimax. Seeing firsthand the evolution of gamer products, it’s never been easier to make your system look good, in recent years RGB has taken us by storm, no longer do you have to decide on a single color, it’s truly an intense and exciting time to build a computer. Being fans of the annual Q-dance festival Qlimax, with it’s sophisticated lighting and laser production, we thought the name seemed fitting with all of the RGB LED’s and the pinnacle of today’s computer hardware. As for the parts I have chosen, it’s one of the most powerful systems you can build today, but the only way to truly get all the way is by overclocking, the i7-7700K is pre-binned 5.2GHz capable, ROG Maximus IX APEX motherboard to get the Trident Z memory well over 4GHz, two GTX 1080 Ti’s in SLI, and water cooling. Sharing these unique builds with you means a lot and we hope to inspire! Though a couple of months are expected for it’s completion, right now most of it is up and running but there is still much to do and even more to show. Thank you and feel free to leave a comment if you have a question or suggestion, we take your feedback to heart. Hi guys, long time Linus fan here but new in the forum. I'm a sleever and cable maker from Italy, today I'd like to share with you some of my most interesting and unique works I've had a sweet spot for custom cables ever since I became a PC enthusiast, and lately I've been experimenting with braids, new materials, cable illumination, and a lot of other fancy things. Cable making today is kind of a dying sector of modding for a lot of reasons and I'm quite sad about it. I hope to inspire other people into getting to try it! Opinions and critics are very appreciated Silver cables: only electrical cable - no sleeving. The cable is silver-plated copper with transparent teflon insulation, really high quality stuff that is usually used in aerospace applications. It reflects and refracts light like no other and it's truly wonderful in a well-lighted and/or RGB build: the more light you give around it, the more it starts looking like illuminated optical fiber. Braided cables: after trying my hand with a really complex prototype that was looking wonderful but wasn't able to finish completely (inspired by the Crysis nanosuit), I went on doing more simple braidings. However there's still much more to be experimented in this area! Would really love to see what other people come up with

Hi all, So I have been working on a project with the goal to build my computer into my desk. Everything was going well, I created my 24-pin and 8-pin cables for the motherboard and had the pc posting using internal graphics, and a sata power cable (OEM) for the ssd and hdd. I then create a 6-pin, 8-pin, and two sata power cables for powering the graphics card, ssd, and hdd respectively. Since the graphics card is mounted beside the motherboard I have a PCI-E riser cable to make that connection. Anyway, I now have all my cables plugged in and the pc should boot right? Sadly no, I have no power button for this build yet so I press the power button on the motherboard its self. First press the led numbers on the board shows the number 00 for maybe half a second before the pc turns off, second press and nothing happens, no led light up not even for a second. I tried a few more times to see what would happen and most of the time absolutely nothing happens but maybe 1 in every 7 presses the 00 will show up for no more then a second before turning off. Knowing that the problem must be due to one of my newer custom cables I disconnected the graphics card and I went back to a power sata that came with my motherboard. Having had that exact set up booting previously I hoped this would boot, but nope. Next I removed my 24-pin and 8-pin cables from the motherboard and plugged in the OEM cables, still same problem no signs of booting most the time, then occasionally 00 will show for a second before turning off. My first thought is that I must have short circuited the motherboard some how, but I don't see how I could have done that since I tested 24 and 8 pins previously and they worked with no problem. I only plugged new cables into the drives and the graphics card, could a faulty cable not plugged into the motherboard cause the motherboard to short? That wouldn't make sense to me, but hey that's why I'm here, I don't know whats happening. I want to keep diagnosing this problem, but I don't want to start swapping components if I have faulty cables since that would cause me to destroy even more hardware. What I am currently thinking is to buy a power supply tester and test each cable. I'm assuming something must be wrong with one of them which would have caused this. Once all the faulty cables are found I'll fix them, and try to boot with the same hardware but with fixed cables. If the pc still doesn't boot, and I am confident in my cables, I can start swapping out some components until I find the faulty component. I guess at which point I will have to replace whatever I destroyed (which must be the motherboard if anything right?). The power supply is a 750 so power shouldn't be a problem, but none of the components should be an issue as this project is using all old hardware that all use to run together with no issue, all I was doing was mounting everything to some wood and creating some custom length cables. Basically, I'm wondering if any of you guys have an idea of what might have caused a lasting issue that even after going back to OEM cables the pc won't boot. Do you have an suggestions on how to correctly diagnose the issue? Do you think my plan of testing the cables and then trying new hardware is a smart approach or would you suggest something different? Any input is greatly appreciated, Michael

I am looking at custom sleeving my first PSU namely the Seasoning Focus Gold 550W. The reviews are stellar but I wonder if and how much I will lose my custom sleeving it without adding inline capacitors which are in the stock cables. I suppose ripple values will worsen but by how much and how much of a difference could than realistically make? I am doing my first water-cooled build ('for practice') and I want it to be appearance focused so custom cables are obviously very important. If there is anything wrong with my PSU choice feel free to comment aswell. Feedback appreciated Any thoughts? @STRMfrmXMN or feel free to 'at' more PSU guys as you feel fit. You are the only one I remember of the top of my head.

Hey guys, I need some help with picking out the right coolant for my build, along with the colour scheme for my sleeved cables. As you can see it is not quite finished yet, still some tubing left to bend. Currently my system is very neutral and I would like to keep it nice and clean looking. Main colours used are: Black Chrome, Titanium Grey and Silver. A crappy quality picture below: I will be using Mayhems coolants, and my current favourites are: 1) Distilled water with purple dye (along with biocide/killcoil of course) 2) Pastel Ice White + perhaps a blue dye (any colour that you think will suit is welcome as a suggestion, i don't like premixes so I will dye the fluids myself) 3) Just clear distilled water ( I know this one will work well but I'd like to try with some colour first ) Now once the colour is decided then I can go for some custom cables to match. For those I would like to use Icemodz, and here is some of their amazing work: http://www.icemodz.eu/showcase-cables/ Now if the fluid is clear I can go with black, grey and silver sleeving (and try different patters to see what suits). If the fluid is not clear, then I will have black and grey cables with colour inserts ( so maybe like 2 or 3 of the sleeves will be whatever colour the fluid is). What do you guys think? Many thanks,

Hello everyone, I ll try to be quick.I want to make my own cables for my 850watt HXi Corsair psu. Does anyone know what awg wire should i use for my new wires? As i know the choice is between 18awg and 16awg. Factory cables are marked as 18awg as i can see but i wanted to ask if anyone know something about it! Thanks in advance

Title kind of speaks for itself. First, I'm curious if someone can confirm that. Second, what other companies offer high quality custom sleeving? Not looking for the typical corsair or bitfenix cables, but ones where you can customize exactly what you want. Appreciate the input!

Hi I have the Corsair CX750M power supply. It is semi-modular. I want to get Red and Black custom sleeving for my pc. I don't want to make it myself so I am planning on buying from Cablemod. I am confused about full length cables and cable extensions. Can someone please tell me what types there are, what is the best, and anything bad about them? Thanks!
