Helolo everyone! My question is this: Can I use my GTX 1050 Ti to game while my RX 470 is mining on the same PC? My specs are: AMD FX-6300 @ 4.1GHz MSI GTX 1050 Ti MSI 970 Motherboard Hyper X Fury 16GB RAM 1TB HDD So I am wondering can I buy an RX 470 off of eBay and stick that in the same PC I am using? Mine with the RX 470 while running Windows off of the GTX 1050 Ti? Thanks! -

Okay so basically the idea was, with my gear I have laying around my place, can I actually mine? Everybody is on that Ethereum (ETH) craze but I was wanting something another step removed, something different, which landed me on Monero (XMR)! Now there's two desktops, an older laptop, and I'm considering the entire network to be a power usage for this as well. Each device has it's own 1500PFCLCD that keeps it online and running clean, though the laptop and network share one. Now I want to point out before I start getting into the stats, I just started out with XMR. I've spent a good amount of time doing little tweaks and optimizations, while watching system stability throughout the day. Though I'm positive more knowledgeable miners would be able to achieve much better results then what I'm showing here, though this is how we learn! CPU #1 : i7-5930K @ 4.5ghz across 10 threads = 331.5 H/s GPU #1 : Geforce Titan X (Pascal) @ 2ghz/5ghz = 872.6 H/s POW #1 : 396W (monitors, speakers, mics off) CPU #2 : i7-5820K @ 4ghz across 11 threads = 304.8 H/s GPU #2 : Geforce GTX 1080 (Gigabyte WaterForce) @ 2ghz/5ghz = 581.7 H/s POW #2 : 324W (monitors & speakers turned off) CPU #3 : i7-3720QM @ 3.4ghz across 7 threads = 131.1 H/s POW #3 : 108W (laptop lid shut) (includes modem, router, & pi-hole) Total Hash Rate : 2221.7 H/s Total Power : 828W Now this returns after all the power is accounted for $4.99 a day, or $149.72 a month! That's of course at this exact moments exchange rates though I'm not complaining for power that was going unharnessed beforehand. My gig internet is $200 a month, so it's paying for about 75% of my internet bill. Though as you can see, this is not how miners build rigs! A Titan X (Pascal) on an insane custom EKWB loop? Yeah that's not helping anyone make money mining, nobody would ever purchase this gear for mining. Though like I said, they're my personal machines, so I figured why not, let's see just what they'll do! Though I know you guys are going to want screenshots on everything, some text in a box just isn't going to cut it! So I've came prepared! Box #1 Mining: Box #1 Power Draw: Box #2: Mining Box #2: Power Draw: Laptop Mining: Laptop & Network Power Draw: Profitability Calculator: Overall this has been a fun day playing around with a newer crypto currency and looking to see what can actually be done with the gear laying around your home! I've got a couple old xeon boxes in storage that I might have to drag out, strip down, and see what they can mine in a linux environment. These two boxes still see daily use, so the miners have been dialed down a little bit to still allow for a responsive & easy to use interface. Though those boxes I could just go full tilt inside linux as they'd serve no other purpose. If I get around to this I'll be sure to post additional results! Anyways, I hope this was helpful or atleast entertaining to some of you out there. 'Gobby Update: I had already walked away from making this post when it hit me I had made a huge omission. Look at those overclocks on the graphics cards. Look a little odd? When you fire up the mining software it down clocks the memory on the cards. So once you've started mining (atleast on water), you can start pulling your clocks up again. Though, make sure you close afterburner before you close your miner if you're ever going to stop. Because once the miner closes, it'll return your clocks to normal, which means you've now got some stupid AF overclocks going on. So yeah, remember that little note. As you can see, the screenshots were taken literally like 6-7 hours into mining so the overclocks are in full force! Okay, now I'm going to walk away again. -
It's recently come to the attention in Swedish media that the Swedish central bank "Riksbanken" is looking to try and launch their own digital currency. This would be an addition to the current SEK - Swedish Krona (English: Swedish Crown), most likely the name would be the E-Krona (English: E-Crown). Their hope is that this currency could be launched within 2 years from now. Sweden has (as probably most other countries) seen a big decrease in the use of regular physical currency. This move is particularly interesting as Sweden is currently in a state of changing its current currency, to new notes and coins. This change is currently ongoing since 2015 and will be in place until mid 2017. You can see pictures of the "new" notes and coins in Sweden below. To give my opinion on this, not really sure what to think. As much as I'm for a new currency, it also worries me. Since it's all electronic and computer made, there would be a possibility of malfunction in the beginning before it really gets going. This could potentially be harmful to early adopters. The other thing that puzzles me is how it will be used. Will you be able to use it with a credit card as you do now, just that you can't withdraw them as notes in any possible way as you normally can with an ATM, or will it be some sort of currency that lives within your computer and smartphone only? If so, will it require internet access to be used to pay with? How will online stores implement it and will you be able to use it outside of Sweden? A lot of things needs to be cleared up, but generally this is exciting. So, I've come into a bit of money through a home sale and I want to keep some relative worth of my gains. I was thinking of buying $10,000 to $20,000 worth of crytocurrency. I was curious as to the legal wranglings of doing this within the US. I understand that the government looks upon it as any other investment and currencies as "stocks", for a simplistic definition. I'm just wondering what moving such quantities of cryptocurrencies will cause given the Patriot Act. Has anyone purchased such large quantities and can anyone enlighten me about the perils and pitfalls of such a venture. Thanks -
Just saw Linus's new video So for 8 GPUs at x16 for each.... that's 128 cores... FML what motherboard can handle two or four 1950x threadrippers? I have a few 980tis... can get a few more for cheap enough... but running all of them at full saturation/speed.... in pcie3.0 spec requires 16 lanes each right? And is a build with 128 threads (assuming that's enough?) going to even run with windows 10? so there's more use (eg can temporarily turn off bit mining to make use as a 3D render node.. kinda need windows 10 for that option) I know this is a multifaceted issue.. so shoot away, what are your thoughts on how to have 8 980tis or 1080tis at full speed / no bottlenecking each? The government of a small city called Zug in Switzerland now accepts Bitcoin for payments of up to 200 CHF (around 200$). There for they are the fist government in the world to accept a krypto currency as a payment method. This decision doesn't come from nowhere as there are over 15 companies in the area specialized in digital financial service. Some even speak about krypto valley at the lake of Zug. Well i was forced to create Skrill account because i am playing "League of Legends" tournament for money and i will win some money actaully but the site doesnt support Paypal it supports only Skrill so i will windraw my money when i win from the site to my Skrill account but here are some questions i want to ask you guys: - I live in Bulgaria and here currency is BGN and i created my accaunt with BGN currency but the problem is that i will win $ dolars will it automaticly change the $'s to BGN ? What is the best mining currency for an sli gtx 690 (4 cores) that will get me the most profit? I already have them and electricity is free. Dont worry about threir heat output, they are watercooled. I would also mine with the cpu if i can i74770k. Can you tell me your recomended coin, and how much will i make per day, and if you have a config for gtx 690s if possible, (but not needed). ty -
Taken from an email I just received: I can see most people here in Canada thinking this is a good thing. I only have one concern: when they switch, will we have to pay Canadian Sales Tax? Currently we do not pay sales tax for steam games, but I know for a fact that for Origin I do, because they take payments through a 3rd party company (Digital River) that resides in Canada. Post at /. ... This doesn't bode well. Hopefully they can get these bugs fixed ASAP and get everything back up to normal. I'm still mining away personally, as I expect this to go away once the bugs are indeed fixed. It's sad that DDoS' are being abused so much these days. I'm hoping someone comes up with a way to fix it soon. I know, I know. It probably can't be fixed because of it's nature, or the required investment needed to fix it, but still. I can hope. Maybe I should move to a different exchange. The big ones seem to be more dangerous now even though they are more established. Or sell my coin on Ebay. That's an option. What do my fellow miners think? -

I find what he said about 2 years later and they aren't sure if they will change their privacy laws or not very ... compelling. That is a statement. And man is it loaded. Here is the site. Basically, you name your coin, provide your email (to receive the information regarding it), decide on the block rate, and the abbreviation for said coin (i.e. BTC). Actually making the coin costs 0.04BTC ($33.20). For 0.02 BTC or $16.60 at current prices, you can have the CloudCrypt watermark removed from the splash screen. And for 0.04 BTC ($33.20), you can have the source for the coin (i.e. the code for it that you would normally have made yourself). Then you decide the algorithm (SHA256 or Scrypt), and everything else that is basic to all cryptocurrencies (halving rates, value of blocks, etc). Firstly, let me say this is a terrible idea. There's this thing called pre-mining which basically means that someone who invent a coin can mine it for a while before letting anyone else mine it. Or they can give themselves coin just because (as they know the source code). Letting that be handled by strangers in the cloud is not a good idea. But, to be honest, you literally have to do that regardless of what coin you invest in, because the maker of Bitcoin could have done it, or of Litecoin, or of Feathercoin. Or the pool operators could cut and run with your mining earnings. Etc etc. You are always trusting random people. But I wouldn't trust this site. Just a gut feeling I have. YMMV
